The ship was stuck in the water, no power, no engine, completely stalled without showing even the smallest hint of movement as the passengers looked scared.
"What's going on here? What happened to the lights?" Eddy asked.
"And we're without an engine too." Hatsume said.
"Well…on the bright side, now that it's dark, maybe my brain won't think we're on a ship anymore." Applejack said before she was turning green. "Oh no…it heard me." she said before running to the side.
"A little electrical mishap won't stop us. I'll head to the engine room and see if we can't get it going again." Twilight said as she ran off.
"She's wasting her time. This is evil magic or some big time supervillain." Rainbow said.
"Stop." Sunset said.
"You stop. We show off our power and then the lights suddenly go off. We scared whatever's out there. And it's fighting back. We should split up and search the ship. Who's with me?" Rainbow called out as she only got stares.
A few seconds later, Rainbow was searching the deck by herself.
"Last time I ask who's with me." she grumbled.
In the engine room, Twilight and some of the tech savvy members were working to try and get the engine started.
"Look at this. It's like these people didn't even read the 600 page online emergency handbook." Twilight said.
"To be fair, you can't really expect anyone to read that many pages." Miu said.
"Agreed." Weisz said.
"Really? Seemed easy to understand to me." Entrapta said.
In the buffet, Pinkie, Stoj, Glimmer, and Ochako sculked around.
"Why did you talk us into this?" Glimmer asked.
"With the lights out, this is the perfect chance to snag some bundt cake." Pinkie said.
"Yes, cake!" Stoj said.
"There it is. And here we are, under the cover of darkness. Triple chocolate berry blasted butter biscuit bundt cake…you are ours." Pinkie said.
"Who said that?" a chef said standing there as the four hid.
"No one!" Pinkie said. "Uh…shouldn't you be upstairs?" she asked as the chef slammed on the table.
"Someone has to stay and guard the bundt cakes!" the chef said. "Don't try anything funny. I have a spatula." she said as she searched for the four hiding in the dark.
"Okay…this is going to be harder than we thought." Ochako said.
Back on deck, Rainbow just looked over the railing as the storm was intensifying. She then looked down to see a symbol forming on the sea before looking further to see something wavering near the ship. "Huh?" she said looking closer to see the Storm King and the Team Rocket trio down there.
"Uh…the storms looking a little rough. Shouldn't we, you know, amscray?" Meowth asked.
"Yes. We should probably go before we join that ship in a watery grave." James said.
"No! I must see this through. Make sure there are no witnesses to my awesome act!" Storm King said.
"You mean like that one?" Jessie asked, pointing to Rainbow who was looking down on them.
"Yeah, like that one…hey!" Storm King realized as he immediately pointed his staff at her, firing off a bolt of lightning.
"Whoa!" Rainbow said as she dodged. "I knew it! Evil supervillain! I gotta show the others!" she said as she ran off.
"She's one of those hero guys who hang with the twerp. She's gonna tell all of them we're here." Meowth said.
"Not necessarily. Time to be…sneaky." The Storm King said as he forced them all back in the sub as they sunk back under the sea just as the symbol vanished with Rainbow running back with the group.
"You see! They…were…." Rainbow said seeing the ocean was now back to normal and the sub was gone. "But…but…"
"What the heck? We almost had the engine back on track!" Hatsume said.
"And you got us banned from the buffet…for life!" Glimmer said.
"And I dunno what you think you saw, but there's nothing there now." Jexi said.
"Come on. We need to take care of them. Take no prisoners! Come on, we do our superhero thing and…" Rainbow said.
"Rainbow…the majority of us…aren't…superheroes." Twilight said.
"So you wouldn't call us, saving the day from evil forces and magic, being superheroes?" Rainbow asked.
"Yes." Twilight said.
Rainbow just stood there stunned.
"Well fine. I'm gonna grab a lifeboat and find the source of it all. Who's with me?" Rainbow asked, as she was once again met with silence. "And that is the last time I say that." she said as she walked off.
"I-Is she really going out there? All by herself?" Bernadetta asked.
"Please. There's no way she'd be that reckless. I'm sure she'll be over it by tomorrow morning." Jexi said.
As the group headed off, the sub below resurfaced and the hatch opened.
"Okay…coast is clear. Heroes no longer on the scene." James said.
The next morning, everyone was in the dining hall but Rainbow Dash was nowhere to be seen.
"I wasn't…very nice to her last night." Twilight said.
"I can't help but be at fault here. I'm part of the reason magic even exists in this world." Sunset said.
"It wasn't totally your fault. You were being manipulated by the Universal Villains and Gengar. We wouldn't trade you for anything." Lucy said.
"Thanks. Same here." Sunset smiled.
"You know, we should probably go check up on her anyway." Adora said. "Make sure she hasn't done anything crazy."
The group headed out onto the deck, searching for Rainbow.
"Hey….sorry about yesterday! Maybe we could discuss this over…some…." Sonic said before they saw one of the lifeboats missing.
"Son of a….she actually went and did it." Jexi said.
"No way she's that reckless, huh?" Mark asked in a deadpan tone. "Damn it, she could be anywhere in this storm. And on the off chance that she wasn't just seeing things last night…" he left the implications hanging.
"Wait…let me try her phone." Yumi said dialing Rainbow's number.
"Hey nerds. Can't talk right now. Too busy being awesome. But leave a message or text me." the answering machine said.
"Okay, that's it." Sunset said as she grabbed some supplies and threw them into a lifeboat.
"Sunset, you can't be serious." Jexi said.
"She wouldn't even be out there if it wasn't for me bringing magic to this world." Sunset said.
"You can't go out in a storm like this." Nami said as she got in the boat. "Least not without a navigator."
"Oh…or a doctor." Chopper said joining in.
"All right. Anyone who wants to, get in the boat and start searching the sea. Everyone else, work to get this ship running again, understood?" Jexi said.
The lifeboat set down with a small group inside it as they started combing the sea. Everyone else was staying on the ship.
"So…wonder what we should…" Odd said as some lightning shot at the group as it bounced around and hit a window. "Okay…maybe Rainbow was right about this storm not being normal."
"The storms getting more and more intense." Gray said.
"We should get everyone and bail. Take the lifeboats and…" Mineta said before lightning came and destroyed all of the lifeboats.
"Wow…that is some very specific lightning." Pinkie said.
"Not if there's someone causing it." Homura said.
"Yeah, this is way too coordinated to be random. Someone has got to be behind this." David said, shaking a bit.
"Still afraid of lightning?" Sachiko asked.
"Miraidon has been helping me with that a bit." David said.
"That's right. Miraidon can float on the water." Sachiko said.
"Well, that and he's an Electric-type, so I'm gonna have to get used to it." David said.
"No. I mean you can use Miraidon to find the one causing this." Sachiko said.
"Oh, right. Good thinking, Sachiko." David said as he sent out Miraidon. "Hey, buddy. You ready to go searching?"
"(Better me than Kyogre, I'd say. His presence would probably only make this storm worse. But are you sure you're gonna be okay?)" Miraidon asked.
"If I'm on you, I think I should be fine." David said.
"Me and Mermista will help with the search since we're used to these types of waters." Jimbei said.
"I think I can add some extra backup too. Feraligatr, Samurott!" David said as he sent out the two Water-types.
"I'll go too." Leviathan said.
"All right…let's go." David said as they descended into the water.
The lifeboat search team, consisting of Sunset, Nami, Chopper, Shiki, Baozhai, Twilight, Pearl, and Ed continued to comb the sea for Rainbow's lifeboat.
"Storm's starting to get worse. If we can't find her in time, we need to turn back." Nami said.
Ed popped his head out of the water with a gasp of air. "No Rainbows in here!"
"So she didn't capsize…that's good." Pearl said.
"She couldn't have gotten too far." Sunset said.
"Wait…I think I see something further ahead." Baozhai said, seeing a lifeboat on the waters with Rainbow lying unconscious in it.
"Rainbow!" Twilight cried out as they maneuvered the boat right next to hers. They pulled her out of the boat and into theirs as Chopper checked her.
"Looks like she was electrocuted. Nothing damaging though." Chopper said.
"Hmm…the boat isn't even singed." Pearl noted. "Whatever lightning did this couldn't be natural."
"It's almost like someone was aiming it right at her." Twilight said.
"Hahaha! Oh man, did you see that?" the Storm King laughed.
"Uh yeah…that was an incredible strike, sir." James said.
"One of your best." Jessie said.
The trio then huddled.
"This guy is completely insane. We need to ditch him fast." Jessie said.
"No we can't. Mr. Flux said we need one of his hairs in order to get in good with him and the others of that group." James said.
"Right. And I doubt he's gonna give us another chance like this." Meowth said.
"Okay…while he's distracted, Meowth will cut off some hair." Jessie said.
"What? I don't wanna do that." Meowth said. "He'll shock me!"
"Can't be worse than this." James said.
"Fine. But you guys owe me big." Meowth said as he slowly approached the Storm King.
"And uh…what do you think you are doing?" Storm King asked.
"Oh uh…I just noticed you had a…scraggly little hair and I was gonna…put it back in place?" Meowth said.
"Really? Hmm…I don't….huh?" the Storm King said before he saw David searching on the water. "Oh…more target practice. This'll be fun." he said as he was firing off lightning bolts right at him.
"Miraidon, on our right!" David called out.
"(I see it!)" Miraidon confirmed as he broke his path and veered out of the way of the lightning.
"Oh, we got ourselves a runner, do we?" Storm King remarked. "You know what this calls for? A little hurricane!" he declared as he pointed his staff to the sky, the winds picking up in speed and intensity. The waters churned, as gigantic tidal waves began to form.
"(No hurricane could form so quickly. That tears it, David: this is no natural storm!)" Miraidon said.
"Yeah, no crap. Whoever is conjuring this clearly doesn't want us here." David said.
"David…look ahead." Mermista said, surfacing as she pointed to the sub near the ship.
"A submarine? That clearly doesn't look normal. I think we found our stormbringers." David said.
"Jimbei's moving to intercept it from underwater. Keep them busy." Mermista said.
"Right. Feraligatr, Samurott, what say you greet our guests, eh?" David asked.
"(What about you?)" Samurott asked.
"Miraidon and I will be acting as decoys. When they come for us, coordinate with the others and ram them with a pincer attack." David said.
"(Right.)" Feraligatr nodded as the two Water-type Pokémon dove under the surface and moved to join the others.
"Alright, Miraidon. Time to dive into the eye of this storm." David said.
He drove right towards the sub as Storm King continued to fight him back.
"This is getting good." Storm King said. "Hmm…shame the same can't be said for your little understudies!" he said, zapping both Feraligatr and Samurott.
"Man, hate when they get like this. But, well… I guess I should've seen that coming. Doesn't matter. We gotta keep going as long as it takes." David said.
"Buddy, did you really think you had a chance? I am the Master of all things weather! The one who tells the sky whether it'll be sunny or destructive. I am…the Storm King!" Storm King said.
"Yeah… All I'm hearing is a blabbermouth that doesn't know when to shut up. I deal with people like you on the daily." David said. "Or what? You put that whole speech on a coffee mug or something?"
"No! …Actually, wait, that's a good idea." Storm King said to himself before getting back into the fight. "I'll remember it after I sink you and your motor dragon." he said as he shot at the water as a whirlpool started to form.
"Oh, man. Not good. This guy is absolutely bonkers! We can't get in close." David said.
"No…you can't get in close." Leviathan said as she and Mermista were beside him. "But don't worry…he'll be a fish out of water soon."
"Wait, what the heck does that…?" the Storm King said.
"Sharkskin Palm Thrust!" Jimbei called out, striking the sub from underneath as it and its four riders were sent into the air before falling right into the ship's pool.
"...Ugh…status report!" Storm King demanded.
"Well…it seems to me that we took the high dive." James said. "Cause we landed in the pool of the ship."
"Landing on a luxury liner…not the worst blast off we've had." Jessie said.
The heroes soon surrounded the storm king and the undercover team rocket inside the pool.
"You've got some nerve ruining our luxury cruise." Vashyron said.
"Oh come on, what's wrong with a little more excitement?" Storm King asked sarcastically. "I mean it's not like this is your first cruise where things took a turn, was it?"
"Don't bring the Crown Petone into this." Hope siad.
"Who the heck is this guy?" Kieran asked.
"He's the Storm King." Princess Twilight said. "He's from our world. Someone who can conjure powerful storms."
"I mean that was already implied since his name is "Storm King''." Mermista mentioned.
"More pressing question: what's he doing here?" Mark asked.
"Wasn't it obvious? The power failure, the freaky storm, your action-seeking friend shocked into unconsciousness on her own lifeboat? I came here to sink your whole ship!" Storm King said.
"So Rainbow was right all along?" Frosta asked.
"Seems so. Guess she wasn't being crazy. Well, for roughly most of the cruise anyway." DW typed.
"Shame you won't be living long enough to tell her yourselves, because the "Luxe Deluxe" is about to become the 'Luxe Destruct'!" Storm King cackled.
"Just try it! You're surrounded by a whole bunch of people who can kick your hairy butt ten times over before you can even swing that staff!" Nemona said.
"And its just you and….what the?" Ash K said seeing the familiar trio. "What are you three doing here?"
"Uh oh! Twerp exposure!" the three cried out.
"Wait, you know those guys?" Zenitsu asked.
"Yeah…those three are Team Rocket." Ash K said.
"Wait, Team Rocket? You guys said you were the Missile Squad." Storm King said.
"And you believed it? Don't trust everything you see online." Meowth said.
"Wait, you can't lie and deceive me! That's my thing!" Storm King said in anger.
"I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the staff he's holding is the cause of the storm." Alkal said.
"Snatch it up, and its back to sunny skies and party times." Scorpia said.
"Oh, you think you can take me down, huh?" Storm King asked. "I may be outnumbered… but you're out of your depth! You forget, we're out on the sea under the open sky! Which means you're all fighting on my turf!"
"Uh…yeah. They don't know who they're messing with. He's the great and powerful Storm King." Jessie said.
"The best at conjuring nasty typhoons and wicked hurricanes." James said.
"He'll sink ya five times before you hit the seafloor." Meowth said.
"Wobbuffet." Wobbuffet replied.
"And explain how that's supposed to be threatening to us?"
"Oh I won't explain… I'll show you." Storm King said.
(Cue: Battle 2- Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes)
Yeti Conquerer - Storm King (+Team Rocket?)
"Let's start out with something simple! Keep an eye on me if you want… but who's gonna save your friends out there on their lifeboats?!" Storm King asked, raising his staff as the storm gathered to strike the Lifeboat team, who was still out on the water. "I took it easy on your multicolored friend earlier. But this time, she and her medical team are fried!"
"No!" Adora said as she quickly transformed and clashed her sword with the Storm King's staff.
"Should we….do something? Like, I dunno, maybe take the ship and try and sail back to port?" James asked.
"We still need that hair. And he'll never hire us again now that he knows we're fake." Jessie said.
"Right, yeah. Uh…" Meowth said showing a lot of hair.
"Wait, how did you….oh." Jessie said as the three saw a long stripe cut out on the Storm King's back. "If he didn't want to kill us then, when he sees that, he'll definitely wanna kill us twice over."
"So we'll protect him until we can leave him safely." James said.
"Good idea. Wobbuffet, protect the client!" Jessie said.
"Wobbuffet!" Wobbuffet said as he got between Adora and the Storm King, using Counter to send her back.
"What the…?" Adora said.
"Wait, there was another guy under that cloak?" Storm King asked. "Ah, who cares? It just so happens to be the Living Wall of Pokémon!"
"With that Wobbuffet here, getting to the Storm King will be harder than we thought." Adora said.
"Calm down, okay? There is a trick to him." David said. Feraligatr and Samurott were weakened from Storm King's strike, but still standing.
"Are you sure having these two out is a good idea? They look like they can barely stand." Leia said.
"Don't worry, we got this. Just focus on the Storm King. I have something in mind." David said as he looked at Feraligatr and Samurott's conditions. "There is no other way to exploit this. One of you has to make a sacrifice."
"(I'll do it. Samurott is faster but not as defensive. He won't be able to tank the hit. Plus, he'll probably get the drop on the Storm King better than I can.)" Feraligatr said.
"Feraligatr… I swear to you, your sacrifice won't be in vain. Crunch!" David said.
"(Here I come!)" Feraligatr said as he charged at Wobbuffett as it used Counter again. "(Gah! That'll all I can take… Samurrott… Avenge me…)" he said as he passed out on the deck.
"We sure will! Water Pulse!" David said as Samurrott shot a Water Pulse at Wobbuffett, which hit, causing it to be confused.
"Gah! How did he know about that?!" Meowth asked.
"It's simple. Wobbuffet only knows two moves. Counter and Mirror Coat. Both do as you would expect: block physical and special attacks respectively." David said.
"I see… So if you alternate between physical and special attacks, it wouldn't know which one to block." Jude said. "If it does, it wouldn't have time to switch to the other."
"That's right. So, what are you guys waiting for? Feraligatr sacrificed himself to give you this chance! Go!" David said.
"You heard the man, let's not waste the opportunity he gave us." Sachiko said.
"You won't get a chance to do that!" Storm King declared as he raised his staff, causing the group to be cut off from him by a tornado. "Haha! Good luck getting through this!"
"Haa!" a voice called as purplish-pink streaks of plasma sliced through the tornado, canceling it out and slicing the Storm King across the chest.
"Whu-?!" Storm King exclaimed.
"Who-?" Mark started to ask.
"Apologies for the delay, everyone." a voice said as footsteps were heard approaching as the group looked to see a young man in a green sleeveless tailcoat with long green hair in a ponytail and a red triangle upside down on his forehead as he held two twin plasma sabers.
"Harpuia!" Leviathan said.
"Harpuia?!" the group repeated in shock.
"Yeah, it was a pretty long while fixing him back up. But after gaining some parts from the Future Universe auction, I was able to completely boot him back up. And with a few upgrades too." Miu said.
"Oh yeah, now we're talking!" ZS said. "Give it to 'em, Harpuia!"
"Agreed, time we put an end to this." Harpuia said as his armor formed on him which was more sleeker.
"You think you can take me on?!" Storm King asked. "You're going back to the junkpile!" as declared as he called down lightning from the skies.
"Do not think you're the only one who can control the weather." Harpuia said, drawing the lightning onto his Sonic Blades before sending it back onto the Storm King as an electricity beam.
"What the-?!" Storm King asked, dispelling the lightning.
"(You're wide open!)" Harpuia said as he was already in front of the Storm King before unleashing a multi-hit combo before finishing with a rising slash.
The Storm King stumbled back, before he growled in aggravation. "Why you-! That's it!" he yelled as he conjured and compressed the power of a category 5 hurricane into a powerful sphere that he launched at the Reploid. "Let's see you redirect that!"
"I don't need to." Harpuia said as he sliced through it, leaving the Storm King guffawed. "Anything else you wish to try, or now do you see the folly of your actions?"
"(Drat! I didn't want to show this tech off with the heroes of Equestria here…but I've got no other choice!)" Storm King decided as he pulled out a black orb, the inside of it crackling with green energy. "Eat obsidian, metal man!" he yelled as he tossed the orb at Harpuia.
"Okay…this is just sad." Harpuia said as he just batted the sphere back with just an arm. "Magic doesn't necessarily work on machines."
"Oh crud!" Storm King realized as he leaped away from his redirected orb, barely getting out of the blast radius, his staff lagging behind him. After a few moments checking himself over, he grinned. "Ha! I'm safe!"
"Look again." Harpuia said as the yeti looked at his staff, his expression turning into one of horror as he saw that the blue crystal upon it had turned to obsidian. The lightning striking near the rescue team came to an end as the storm clouds above them cleared up. The Storm King shook his staff, only for nothing to happen.
"Well…looks like the weather is now calling for clear skies, bright sun, and four flying villains." Jexi said.
"All together now." Twilight said as the boat team rejoined the others and powered up.
"Well….here it comes." James said.
"Here what comes?" Storm King asked.
A loud explosion was soon seen as the villains were sent flying into the air.
"So….does this happen often?" Storm King asked.
"Pretty much everyday for us. You get used to it." Meowth said.
"Still, what a lovely clear sky to blast off into, wouldn't you say?" James asked.
"Yes. And it's a day brought to you by me, the King that's also a…" Storm King said.
"Oh just drop it." Jessie said.
"We're blasting off again!" all four cried before disappearing in a small twinkle.
"(Well, guess that settles that.)" Samurott said as he helped up Feraligatr. "(You okay, buddy?)"
"(Yeah, nothing a few snacks and a Hyper potion or two can't fix.)" Feraligatr said.
"(That was pretty bold of you, making a sacrifice play like that.)" Samurott said.
"(I was just doing what any true comrade would have done in that situation.)" Feraligatr said.
"Uh…they do know they didn't do much right?" Happy asked.
"Let them have this." Fluttershy said.
"Least with the bad guys gone, we can relax a bit." Nami said.
"Yeah…just hope Rainbow doesn't lord this over us." Jexi sighed.
"Something tells me that she won't. Not this time." Mark said.
On the mainland, Tempest Shadow was walking down a pier, eating some popcorn before she saw something crashing down at the booth where people would shoot water at the clowns to see the Storm King's face through one of the targets. "I take it your little plan didn't go well?"
"Understatement. Nobody told me there'd be an upgraded Reploid of all things on that boat!" Storm King said. "It even backhanded an obsidian orb!"
"Of course it did. The orb was meant to affect living things. Doesn't work on robots." Tempest Shadow said.
"Well, why didn't you tell me?!"
"I assumed you were present at the tests. After all, why wouldn't you be present for the testing of your own technology?"
Storm King went to respond…but couldn't come up with a counter. "...Never mind! Just get me outta this humiliating situation so I can plan my sweet revenge!"
"Uh huh…will this revenge be before or after Grogar demotes you for going against protocol?" Tempest asked.
"What do you mean?! I ordered you not to tell him!" Storm King said.
"I didn't. I told a grunt from Dark Key, who told a grunt from Dark Rainbow, who then told him." Tempest said.
"Ah…ah…." Storm King gaped before his mouth was sprayed with water as the kids were aiming at him.
"I'm getting the ugly ape man first." one of them said as they all sprayed right at him.
"Blegh! Don't just stand there, Tempest! Get…me… outta here!" Storm King called between blasts.
"I don't know…if I helped you, you wouldn't learn anything. Besides, I'm not in a rush to go back to four legs just yet." Tempest said.
"Are you disobeying me as my second in command?!" Storm King asked.
"Nope. Expressing my authority as your superior in Dark Rainbow." Tempest said.
With that, Tempest continued to watch as Storm King got sprayed in the mouth with water as she munched on her popcorn, cracking a rare smile at the sight.
Meanwhile on a nearby island, both Flux and Techno and some of the Universal Villains had watched the scene before they saw the trio crashing down in the sand nearby.
"Well that was fun while it lasted." Flux said.
"Mr. Flux…we…did it." Meowth said, getting out a jar of white hair.
"We only needed one hair." Flux said.
"Well, Meowth shaved off a little more than we needed in the heat of the moment." Jessie said.
"Yes. These sorts of accidents do happen." James said.
"So….are we in?" the trio asked.
"If I say no, you three are going to keep bugging me until I say yes, aren't you?" Flux said.
"Uh huh." the three said, shaking their heads.
"Ugh…beggars can't be choosers. Fine. You three are officially Universal Villains." Flux said in some defeat.
"At last!" Jessie said.
"Success." James said.
"Up the villain ladder, baby!" Meowth said.
"Our ultimate dreams are coming true!" The trio cheered.
"Wobbuffet!"
"I can't believe you're letting these three idiots into our little club." Dabi said.
"Didn't have much of a choice." Flux said. "Better having them with us instead of interrupting future schemes to try and join. Plus I'm tired of the constant stalking."
"It also provides another approach. We now have people who know of Cipher's operations." Techno said.
"We know that Cipher is teaming up with almost every single villain organization that's ever existed on the Pokemon World, but their endgame is still unknown." Flux said. "While we have these three idiots working for us, not only will they be some useful assets, but they can also leak intel about Cipher to us on the side."
"Indeed. We can't let another evil organization get ahead of us, now can we?" Techno asked. "If we truly aim to be the greatest villains in the multiverse…that means putting upstarts in their place from time to time." he said as he looked at Team Rocket, who were celebrating. "Of course, we may need to help them rediscover their competence…"
"Who said being the bad guys was easy?" Spinel asked.
Later that night, back on the Luxe Deluxe, the group was relaxing, everyone doing their own thing, while Rainbow was sitting at a table by herself, staring into a glass of soda as she swirled her straw around it.
"So….feeling okay?" Jexi asked.
"Yeah. So…uh…." Rainbow said.
"Huh? Oh…yeah. Sorry we didn't believe you. You were right." Jexi said.
"Yeah, well…I'd have a hard time believing me too, after everything I did." Rainbow said. "I was really messing up Spring Break for everyone, wasn't I?"
"Maybe, but this actually turned out to be something incredible." Jexi said.
"Yeah, I guess it was…" Rainbow said, without looking up.
The Color Fighter seemed to have an internal debate with himself before he mustered up the courage to ask a question. "...What happened in Devaloka?"
Rainbow was silent for a moment before she spoke. "I…I got hurt. Bad." she started. "I couldn't run, couldn't move my legs. Sunset came to help, but…but…" she trailed off.
"...Makima happened." Jexi finished for her.
"I'm…I'm the fast one in our friend group, you know?" Rainbow said. "I'm supposed to be the first to react, the first to do something to help, but…I just laid there and saw my friend get killed. I…I can't let that happen again. Never again. I had to keep moving, had to keep a lookout for anything. It…It just feels wrong to sit still and think that everything's okay!" she finished, panting a little, wiping her eyes. "Heh, look at me going soft…I'm not supposed to cry…"
"It's okay to cry, Rainbow. That war was hard on a lot of us. But…it's not going to happen ever again. I promise." Jexi said. "And you don't always have to be the first responder. If you fall, the rest of us will pick you up."
"I…I'm gonna hold you to that, Jex. You and everyone else." Rainbow said with a smile, even as tears began to fall.
No more words were needed between the two as Rainbow leaned down on the table, silently shedding tears. After a moment, the other members of the Human Mane Six came over, being there for their friend.
"This…this is nice." she uttered as they watched the sunset.
It was a rare show for Rainbow Dash of all people to feel how she felt. But the feeling was mutual. For herself and everyone.
