Death. As Ruby continued to walk wherever she was, death was all she could see. The corpses of Weiss, Blake, Yang, Qrow, Jaune, Ren, Nora, Penny, and Pyrrha were scattered all across whatever space she was currently occupying. For a moment, she fell onto her knees and cried, but she drifted back into reality when she saw a burning light in the distance.
Cinder!
Ruby used her semblance to get close enough to the monster before her, and when she was at the right distance, she took out Crescent Rose and in one swift motion, the beast lost its head!
Triumph! Glory! Those words ran through the young huntresses head. "You can rest now!" she thought now that she had avenged her dead friends! However, upon turning around, she froze.
The corpse before her was her mother's.
Ruby screamed.
And suddenly, she was awake.
Ruby got up from where she was and took a moment to look around at her current location. On the opposite side of where she was, what looked like a portal from a video game was there, and all around her the color gold was present.
"Ruby! You're awake!" said a familiar voice.
As she turned around, she saw Jaune rushing towards her. Before she could even react, she was already in a hug. For a moment, she smiled, but then, confusion overcame her when she looked over Jaune's shoulder.
Something was there with them.
It looked like an alien from a sci-fi movie that she would watch in her free time with Yang or Jaune.
"Wha-who is that?" she pointed.
Before Jaune could speak, it talked.
"Fear not child, for I am your ally! You may call me Chromos." said the one before her in a feminine voice.
"When we were at Kuroyuri, after you became unconscious, Chromos here flew out of the ground, and suddenly, we are all here now!" Jaune said.
What? Was this real? Oh, and also, how did she become unco-
"Uncle Qrow! Is he okay?"
"Don't worry, he is gonna be okay!" Jaune said quickly.
Oh my Gods! How could she have considered killing hi-
"Wait, what do you mean?"
"Huh? Oh! Everything is gonna be great, Ruby! Chromos opened that portal, and I traveled back in time to Beacon, and I asked Pyrrha for some medical supplies. She, of course, gave me some, and I came back here and treated your Uncle!" Jaune said confidently as he motioned to a corner where her Uncle was sleeping.
What?
"Once again, I cannot thank you enough, Chromos! You helped me save Qrow, and I got to see her again!"
"Oh please, it is the least I could do for you now that you are my ally!"
Ally?
"What's going on here? What do you mean by Time Travel? And what do you mean by ally?" Ruby shouted.
"Ah yes, please allow me to explain. I am am Chromos, the keeper of time! Centuries ago, I was imprisoned under what you call Kuroyuri by the master of the one you call Cinder. The only way I can be reawaked is if a Silver-eyed warrior unleashed their powers while on the land where I was imprisoned. However…wait a minute, come here to me."
Ruby obliged, but was a little put off by Jaune's small chuckle. As she got closer to Chromos, she suddenly bumped into something!
"You see, while I have been reawakened thanks to your powers, I am still imprisoned in this space. However, if you were to go through that portal, and travel through various points in time and make as many changes as possible, my prison will crack, and I will be free!"
"And here is the best part!" Jaune added. "Once she is free she can create a whole new universe! One where Pyrrha and Penny are alive! One where Beacon never fell!"
"Wow!" was Ruby's only response. This was a lot to take in.
"Please, allow me to prove it. Use your memories to travel back to the moment you two and your friends encountered Tyrian Callows. Once you are there, do something that allows the timeline to be changed.
The portal behind them suddenly began to glow even brighter. Without a second thought, Jaune began to run towards it.
"Jaune, wait!"
"Come on, Ruby! It's okay! I promise!" Jaune said before running through the portal.
Ruby decided to follow her friend, and as she was about to go through, she could hear Chromos say "Have Fun".
Suddenly, she was travelling through what seemed like space, and several flashing images of her memories were all around her. She saw one memory where she and her second team were and headed towards it. Before she knew it, she was on stable ground once again.
"… The Rose has thorns!" she heard Tyrian finish saying.
She was back to her fight with Tyrian, and she knew what was going to happen, and what had to be done. She then saw Jaune looking at her with the biggest smile, as if to say "wasn't that the coolest thing!"
Yeah, it was, and with this power, things were about to be cooler!
At last, this fic rises from the dead! I want to apologize to everyone for how long it took for this chapter to come out! I don't even have a reasonable excuse for why there was a long hiatus. It's pretty simple, really. I was being lazy. But don't worry! You all won't have to wait for another 2 or more months for the next chapter to come out! I am happy to announce that from now on, there will be a new chapter every Sunday unless I say otherwise! Hope you all are ready, because this is gonna be on wild ride!
