"Good!"
Less than a second after saying that, the mysterious ambusher was gone. Ren turned around to see who was Tyrian's target was, and in the corner of his eye, he was able to see two things: Ruby had transformed Crescent Rose into its sniper mode and was currently aiming at Jaune's back, and the lunatic appeared behind Jaune, and was ready to attack!
"Jau-"
Before Ren could yell out his friend's name, Ruby had already taken action, and in one swift motion, Crescent Rose had been fired, and their attacker was hit.
"You Bitch!" yelled out the madman, who was currently in pain and on the ground.
Ren froze, and felt uncomfortable at the sight of Jaune, still standing perfectly still despite the fact that an injured lunatic was currently squirming on the ground behind him, and with a smile that rivaled the one the man had moments ago.
"Way to steal my thunder Ruby! If you weren't faster, I would have blocked him with my shield!" Jaune blurted out after laughing for a bit.
"Sorry!" Ruby said sheepishly. "It's just that, as soon as he said 'good', I remembered what was going to happen!"
Confused, Ren turned his attention to Nora, and she shrugged once she saw that he was as confused as she was. Looking back at their leader, Ren saw that Jaune had taken out his weapon, and was about to aim for their attacker's…..ass? Um, ok. Before that could happen though, the attacker rolled over to Ruby, and kicked her down to the ground. As he was getting back up and readying himself to attack her, Ruby quickly changed Crescent Rose's ammo and took a shot at Nora, who began to laugh as much as their attacker when she realized that Ruby had empowered her with lightning dust. However, before she could use this power up to good use, Jaune began to command.
"Nora, wait!" he yelled. "He's just gonna block you with his tail!"
Tail? What tail? What was Jaune talking about?
Looking surprised, their attacker jumped away from them and took off his coat, revealing that he did in fact have a tail. Ruby took this opportunity to use her semblance and rush back to her group.
"Alright Jaune, you have a plan?" asked Ruby.
"Yeah. Our main objective is to cut off Tyrian's tail before Qrow get's here….."
Tyrian? That was the name of the Scorpion Faunus? How did Jaune know that? And how did Jaune know that he had a tail?"
"Ren!" Jaune yelled.
"Huh?"
"Are you getting any of this?"
"Since when did you get confusing" was all that Ren could say.
"What? You know what, never mind, just listen closely, here is the plan! You will distract Tyrian up close, and I will lift up my shield so that Nora could jump on it and aim for Tyrian. Nora should still be powered up by then, so as you see Nora in the air, get away as soon as possible! Ruby will then use her semblance to get behind Tyrian and cut off his stinger!"
Ren did as he was told, and everything was going exactly as planned right until the moment that Ruby got behind Tyrian. Before she could make a move, the Faunus jumped over her, and shot at her with the weapons he was wearing on his hands, which had just transformed into guns of sorts (because of course they're also guns! How silly of him to think otherwise!)
First there was a scream of pain, and then, there was a scream of frustration. Ruby quickly turned around and began to swing at Tyrian, clearly blinded by some rage that Ren did not know Ruby had, she began to swing at their attacker left and right, and left, and right, and left, and right, and so on. Tyrian could have easily broken the pattern somehow, but it was clear that he didn't want to for the sole reason that he was amused by Ruby's frustration. Ren didn't feel that amusement though. Knowing the type of person Ruby was, this just felt disturbing, and he had to do something, not just so it could calm Ruby down, but so it could also help her win the battle.
Without wasting another second, Ren crouched down and gently placed his hand on the ground. Soon enough, his semblance moved up to Ruby, and she began to calm down, as evidenced by the fact that she stopped her pointless hacking and slashing (oh, and also as evidenced by the obvious fact that his semblance had turned her entire body grey.)
Ruby quickly rushed back to her comrades, and asked Jaune if he had another idea.
"I, uh, I'm not sure. Qrow will be here any minute now!" was Jaune's response.
"Who's gonna be here any minute now?" a voice behind Team RNJR said.
"Oh come on!" Jaune whined
