"Wake up!" a voice said.
Her eyes opened, revealing that Jaune was right in front of her. As Jaune hugged her, Ruby had only one thought going through her mind:
Was she dead?
Yeah, she was, Neo killed her.
Wait, no, what was it that Jaune said before they carried out their plan?
Oh right.
"It's fine Ruby! We can't die here."
Ruby sighed. Sure enough, when she turned around, Chromos was right there, in her "cell".
"Congratulations, my star pupils! You have no idea how much good you have done! Please, come here!" Chromos said.
"You're happy? I thought you would be upset! Didn't you tell us to avoid conflict?" Ruby asked.
"I only said that because I was positive that those words would motivate you to seek a brawl. Sure enough, look what happened. Now please, come here. I want to show you two something." Chromos said once more, and Jaune and Ruby obliged.
On the "wall of Chromos' cell", the line that represented the timeline began to split in a different direction once more.
"You see, in this new timeline you two kindly created for me, things changed rather drastically. With all that noise that fight was creating, Neo wasn't the only one who came to investigate. Shortly after your deaths, Professor Port, Oobleck, and Peach came to see what was up, and unfortunately for Cinder and Mercury, they weren't done disposing your bodies. Those two were placed in custody under General Ironwood. With his skilled team of torturers, they found out many things about this war Salem was starting, and they also found out that Leonardo Lionheart,, the headmaster of Haven, was a traitor. Much good has come out of these revelations." Chromos said in a rather cheery tone.
Ruby smiled. Jaune was right. No matter what, they won.
"Now, let's take a look at some more, um, personal changes. You two were loved by many after all. For instance, Yang tried to assassinate Cinder and Mercury, though, that failed, and she was temporarily placed under custody. As, for your other teammates, Ruby, they became quite depressed as well. Especially, Weiss, losing the person who is both your best friend and crush can be quite difficult. If you don't believe me, look no further than Pyrrha. She became a bit suicidal, and it took Ren's semblance to finally calm her down. Now the remnants of RWBY and JNPR just sit around all day, moping." Chromos said.
Jaune and Ruby stared at her in horror.
"Terrible, isn't it? All this pain and suffering is quite unbearable. That's why you two must hurry. Once I am freed from this terrible prison, I can create a new world, a better word, where you and your friends can enjoy your lives without experiencing the horrors of Salem and her underlings. Are you two ready for your next mission?" asked Chromos.
Jaune and Ruby nodded.
"Good. As soon as you two go through the portal again, split up. I want you to create three different timelines each. Once you do, come back here. Am I understood?"
As the portal opened behind them once more, Jaune and Ruby nodded.
"Then go!"
