It took Amity a moment to fully digest what Hunter had told her. "Should I summon who!?"
"You totally got it, don't make me repeat myself" Hunter said with a tired huff. "Your mother is connected to the Collector, so if you summon her, she can then summon that little boy here"
Amity was clearly having a nervous breakdown as her eyelid was visibly twitching; evidently the combination of having a serious discussion with her father, being transformed into a donkey, seeing the Boiling Islands tear themselves apart and turning into the tentacles of a monster, discovering that they are stuck there with no possibility of escape, discovering that what they thought was a island was actually Belos' back, facing Salty who was turned into a monster, then facing Kikimora, having her voice sealed, getting captured, discovering the betrayal of what she thought was a great friend and finally seeing her girlfriend being taken away by Belos himself that on top of that had also taken control of Raine must have caused a clear build-up of mental stress in her brain, and now she had reached the limit of her resistance and was about to explode. No one was surprised when a dark aura began to surround her, making her donkey ears twitch as she breathed deeply in an attempt to calm down.
Seeing that the situation was heating up, Willow tried to mediate: "Amity, I know you said you never wanted to see your mother again, but without her we can't summon the Collector. We need her to save Luz and all our friends"
At the mention of the puppet, Amity finally seemed to calm down, although her eyes and hair continued to give off flashes of light. Seeing that she had calmed down, Gus said: "Um... guys, sorry if I ask, but what exactly is the plan?"
"Yeah. I remind you that the Collector is not powerful enough to defeat Belos. None of the Four Magical Rulers are" Eda told them. "If we make the Collector fight Belos, that monster will tear him to shreds"
"We don't mean to make him fight" Willow told her. "The Collector is not our weapon, he is our escape route"
There was a moment of silence, in which everyone looked at her with surprised eyes. Taking advantage of that moment of stalemate, Hunter raised his voice: "Our plan is as follows: Amity possesses the essence of Grometheus, so she can summon him at any time. Well, she will have to open a portal right here in the stomach. Let's say that the plan is to… cause Belos quite a stomach ache". His eyes narrowed. "We'll get on the airship and let Grometheus annoy Belos enough to make him vomit. The unleashed wave will fling us away from his mouth, and once we're out we'll head straight to get our friends. Then the Collector will transport us to his realm"
His friends (well... now more than allies due to circumstances given what had happened) began to understand his intentions more. "And Luz?" Camila asked. "She's locked in the gut!"
"Yeah. And Raine too" Eda reminded them.
"And none of us can break through that wall" Amity said. "I have the essence of Grometheus and I barely managed to burn three little tentacles!"
"And Belos placed a seal on me that limits my movement abilities" Darius added. "I can no longer teleport, even with the lamp's powers"
"Don't worry. While Belos will be busy fighting Grometheus, we'll summon the Collector and make him break through the walls of the gut, and we'll take them and put them on the airship" Hunter replied to them. "We'll all run away together"
There was silence again, and surprisingly Amity muttered: "Well... it could work"
"Seriously?" King asked skeptically.
Amity had become thoughtful. "Belos uses some magic to prevent us from leaving the island... I mean, his body... but that magic is limited to not going beyond his edges. Therefore, if the Collector drags us into his realm, we could actually run away" she said. "If we can coordinate well, we can save everyone"
"This is a bad idea. Belos will be furious" Captain Salty said.
"Unfortunately I have to agree with him. If that monster gets really angry, then I fear that nothing can save us from his fury" Vee murmured.
Hunter let out a grunt. "Look, I know it's not a foolproof plan, but it's the only one I could think of. We don't have enough time, so we have to act! I know what I'm doing, you have to trust me!"
"Trust you!?" Amity's eyes flashed and her scales began to emerge from her skin. "Why should we ever trust you!?"
But Hunter held her gaze. "Because whether you like it or not, you have no alternative" he answered. "So now stop complaining and use those hands and that voice that we gave you back to perform the ritual, and call your mother here!"
Amity found herself thinking of at least a hundred different ways to tear the boy apart in the space of less than half a second, and she wouldn't have minded trying some of them, but unfortunately Hunter was right: she had no alternative. However, she didn't trust him at all after the betrayal she had just discovered: what if that was just another trap by Belos, and he was acting as her pawn? Her rationality told her that it was ridiculous, after all Belos already had them there at his mercy, but another part of her told her that it wasn't the first time that this monster made fun of them and behaved in a seemingly irrational way just to reveal his sinister plan at the last moment.
She was about to reply, but suddenly she heard someone clap their hands. It was Camila, who had called attention to her. The woman wasn't doing anything, but her stern look was enough to make everyone immediately feel in awe. She seemed to exude… well, a mother's authority. "Guys, listen, I know we're in a desperate situation, but we can't waste time arguing with each other right now!" she said in a somewhat harsh voice. "Luz is still a prisoner, and who knows what that monster will be doing to her. He could be torturing her right now..."
"He won't. First he'll try to brainwash her. Only then will he move on to torture" Hunter told her. It wasn't a threat or an expression of sadism, but a way to reassure her that at least for the moment her daughter was (probably) still with all parts of her body in order... although perhaps the same couldn't be said of her mind.
Camila hesitated for a moment at those words, and wasn't sure whether the pounding in her heart she felt was out of relief or anxiety. "In any case, we must act immediately. I am sure that all of you care a lot about Luz, because that magnificent puppet has the irremediable habit of winning the heart of people simply by existing. I am her mother and I don't intend to leave her to that monster, and I am sure that's the same for all of you. So please, let's get this thing done right now. I don't understand a lot of the plan, and I don't know this blond guy or what he actually did, but I don't care. If there's a chance to get Luz to safety, I intend to take it. Are you with me?"
There was a long moment of silence, in which no one seemed to have the courage to say anything; and then Eda exclaimed: "Wow, congratulations, lady! You summed up in a few words what everyone of us was feeling, and damn, you made a great speech!"
"Edalyn..." Lilith murmured, completely disappointed by her sister's behavior.
Camila blushed a little. "Well… thanks" she said. "You… are my daughter's fairy godmother, right?"
"Technically she considers me a second mother. Don't worry, I've never tried to replace you" Eda replied with a grin, and then she took on a serious look: "Anyway, I agree. Let's do it for Luz!"
"Yeah! For Luz!" Vee exclaimed. "I'm not abandoning my sister! Oh, um... before I go, I hope to find my girlfriend Masha too. She should be here somewhere, although I don't know where"
"Hey! Luz is MY sister!" King protested.
Vee shrugged. "Well... we can share her, right?"
King thought for a moment, then he nodded. "Okay, but I'm definitely her favorite!"
"If there's one thing I learned from Luz it's that she doesn't have favorites" Gus said with a laugh. "Come on, let's go free her!"
Willow smiled when everyone seemed to agree, and then she looked at Amity. The witch glared at Hunter very badly for a moment longer, and then she grumbled: "Know that, once this story is over, I'll come looking for you to beat the shit out of you!" she warned him, and then she knelt down and began to draw a magic circle on the ground. Even though she didn't trust Hunter's plan in the slightest, or anything that came out of his mouth, Luz needed help and she wasn't willing to leave her alone.
Seeing that Amity had set to work, Willow exclaimed, "Well, let's get ready then! Someone go get the airship"
"I'll do it. I can make it fly without any problems" Alador said. "But it might need some repairs..."
"I'm here for that!" Darius reminded him by patting him on the shoulder. "Come on, man, let's go fix things just like last time! Oh, and in the meantime, fill me in on the latest events, I need a good summary"
And with that he grabbed his friend and flew away towards the lake, quickly disappearing among the enormous quantity of wreckage. Hunter hoped that Alador could actually get the airship moving again, but after all he and the djinn had already succeeded once, so he was optimistic.
Amity quickly finished tracing the magic circle, and she pulled the hair her mother had left her out of her pocket and placed it in the center of it. They were the hair of a witch and consequently contained her magical energy, so they were an excellent way to recall her. Her friends had given her space and gone to take care of the other parts of the plan, and the only ones left with her were Camila and Lilith; while she worked, the first one tried to make conversation: "So... are you my daughter's girlfriend?"
Amity only seemed to realize then that her first interaction with Luz's actual mother was taking place while she had donkey ears and tail, and she turned redder than a tomato. "Um... yes"
Seeing her in difficulty, Lilith quickly said: "I can assure you that Amity is a very good girl..."
"You don't need to tell me. I'm sure of it. I trust Luz's judgment" Camila told her putting a hand on Amity's shoulder. "And besides, you're doing something that clearly makes you uncomfortable for her, so I already think of you as a great girlfriend"
Amity smiled, happy at the approval shown, and then she closed her eyes and concentrated; she uttered a long magical formula and formed incantation symbols with her fingers. The magic circle lit up emerald green and a column of light formed inside it, and then a person appeared inside it. "Urgh… what…?"
"Hi, mom" Amity said with a lot of acidity in her voice.
Odalia looked up at her and her eyes widened. "Mittens!? What happened to your ears?"
"Long story. By the way, why are you dress like that?" Amity asked pointing to what her mother was wearing: it was a light pink blouse with gold rings and ruffles halfway up the sleeves, a light purple vest with had purple and light pink star patterns on it, two-tone pants with a diamond on it both knee areas and indigo boots with pink bands around the ankles and yellow star motifs on the toes. It almost looked like someone had fun dressing her up like she was a doll. "No, don't answer, I'm not interested. We need your help to recall the Collector"
Odalia was clearly confused. Evidently being summoned without warning inside an unknown cave and finding herself in front of her daughter that also had donkey ears and tail, her fairy godmother transformed into a sort of gigantic crow and an unknown woman leaning on a large club wasn't helping her to clarify what was happening. "Um... okay... but why exactly...?"
"We'll give you a summary later. Just tell us if you can still do it" Amity said hastily.
Odalia nodded. "Yes, I can. I still have his essence inside me, I can call him back at any time"
"Perfect. As soon as we tell you, summon him, and tell him to take us to his realm, so we can escape from Belos" Amity explained to her.
Odalia's eyes widened so much they looked like two glasses. "Excuse me, what do you mean Belos!?"
Just then the familiar sound of Alador's airship was heard and it reappeared before them, almost completely repaired, with Hooty already providing more propulsion than it should have. "Oh, good, dad's already here" Amity said. "In this case, let's save Luz now!"
And without waiting any longer she raised her hand towards the ceiling; right there a portal opened and the dark mass of Grometheus appeared through it. As soon as this happened the entire stomach shook as if the most violent earthquake that had ever existed was taking hold, and the furious roar of Belos boomed around them. "ARGH! What's going on!?" Odalia exclaimed more and more confused and scared.
"I think Belos is having a stomach ache" Lilith told her. "Because we're in his stomach, by the way"
Odalia's mind seemed to explode. "We are in WHAT!?"
The outfit that Odalia wears is (for obvious reasons) the one she wears in season three while she is the Collector's prisoner and forced to act as his mother
