Chapter Four: Thursday the day of tests
It is six o'clock on Thursday morning and Lilly is still sleeping on the sofa in Miley's bedroom. Miley on the other hand has been in the bathroom since three o'clock in the morning. She is currently leaning against the bathtub and resting her eyes. In addition Miley is listening to Jackson bang on the bathroom door that connects his bedroom to the bathroom.
"(Talking to herself) I know that I should get up and let my brother into the bathroom, but I can't move without starting to cough up a bunch of mucus."
"Come on Miley I really need to use the bathroom and you have been in there since three o'clock this morning!"
"Coughing, use the downstairs bathroom."
"I have a right to use our bathroom!"
"I can't leave the bathroom coughing (start gagging) retching."
"Are you throwing up?"
"Retching"
"Sis, are you blowing chunks?"
"(Laughing) no, I am just coughing up mucus. I think the ice cream coughing that I eat last night ah-choo really made the congestion worse."
"Then can you brush your tooth and get out of the bathroom!"
"I will ah-choo try ah-choo, Jackson."
Miley stands up and flushes the toilet. Then Miley walks over to the sink and turns the water on. Miley washes her hands. A few moments later Miley is looking into the mirror and see that she is pale. Miley then gets her toothbrush out of the medicine cabinet. She wets the toothbrush and then puts some toothpaste onto the toothbrush. Miley starts to brush her teeth. However, it takes her five minutes because every time she puts the toothbrush into her mouth, Miley starts gaging and then start coughs up more mucus. When Miley finishes brushing her teeth, she unlocks the door that leads into Jackson's bedroom and then opens the door. Jackson walks into the bathroom and simultaneously Miley walks over to the door that leads to her bedroom. Miley unlocks the bathroom door and then open the bathroom door. She walks out of the bathroom and walks into her bedroom, wishing that she could go to bed. Miley shut the door behind her and then walks over to the sofa and shake Lilly to wake her up and start sneezing at the same time. Lilly rolls over and faces the window, but does not wake up. Miley shakes her best friend again and this time Lilly wakes up and rolls over to face Miley. Lilly opens her eyes and then looks at Miley, who is now blowing her nose into a tissue. Lilly sits up on the sofa and then place her right hand on Miley's forehead. Simultaneously Miley covers her mouth with her left hand and starts coughing.
"You are burning up!"
"I know that, I take my temperature while I was in the bathroom and I have a fever of 103.9 degrees Fahrenheit, ah-choo."
"Bless you and did you get any sleep last night?"
"Yeah I get some sleep. However, it was not a good night sleep, because I kept coughing and keep waking up to blow my nose. I hope that I did not pass any of my germs ah-choo onto any of the boys or the girls form St. Jude last night?"
"I would not worry about it Miley. The one that had to be careful about catch germs was all wearing surgical masks to prevent getting any germs from anyone that was sick."
"We should ah-choo, get ready for school."
"You should go back to bed and stay home from school since you are sick!"
"Coughing, I can't stay home because I use all my excuse absences coughing."
"Then let go downstairs and eat breakfast before getting dress."
"You go downstairs and have breakfast. I am going to get dress and then puts some makeup on."
"Ok."
Lilly stands up from the sofa and then walks over to the bedroom door. A few moments later Lilly walks out of Miley's bedroom and stop outside the door. She looks over at Miley one last time and then close the bedroom door. Lilly then heads downstairs and into the kitchen to get something to eat. When Lilly gets into the kitchen she sees that Mr. Stewart has made pancakes for them. Lilly walks over to the table and takes a seat on the chair next to Jackson. Mr. Stewart walks over carrying a plate of pancake and set the plate of pancakes in front of Lilly.
"Where is Miley?"
"She upstairs getting dress for school and putting makeup on to hide how pale she is."
"Dad's I think that you should let Miley stay home from school, because she in no shape to be going to school today. Miley has been up since three o'clock in morning and has been in the bathroom coughing up mucus since she got up."
"Miley's has to go to school, because she uses all of her excuse absents in September when on the tour. Jackson's just worry about yourself and about getting better grades in the classes that you have decide to retake this semester and next semester. Getting better grades will help you get accepting into a college or university for the fall 2009 semester."
"Yes, dad."
At the same time Miley's walk into the kitchen and Miley is carrying her backpack on her left shoulder. Lilly, Jackson and Robby look up and the three of them look over at Miley. Jackson, Robby and Lilly see that Miley has her hair pulled up into a ponytail. In addition Miley is wearing a pair of black jeans with a lavender long sleeve shirt and a dark purple tank top over the long sleeve shirt. Miley walks over to the table and take a seat on the chair that is on Lilly's left-hand side. Robby sets a plate of pancakes down in front of Miley. Then he goes and gets himself a plate of pancakes. Miley picks up her fork and making herself eat the pancakes, despite not having an appetite. When Jackson and Lilly have finish eaten the two of them head upstairs to the bathroom and brush their tooth and then finish getting ready for school. While Jackson and Lilly are getting ready for school, Miley finishes the last bite of pancake and then stands up from the chair on which she is sitting. Miley walks away from the table and then walks over to the couch. Then Miley lies down on the couch and closes her eyes.
Simultaneously Robby goes into the downstairs bathroom and grabs the extra digital thermometer out of the medicine cabinet. A minute later he walks into the living room and then he walks over to the couch, as turning the digital thermometer on. Robby put the thermometer into Miley's mouth and she close her mouth. As waiting for the thermometer to beep, Miley shuts her eyes and tries to remember the information that is going to be on her history test during first-hour. Thirty second later the thermometer start beeping and Robby take the thermometer out of his daughter mouth, then looks at the digital display that is on the thermometer.
"I know I am running a fever of 103.9 degrees Fahrenheit, dad!"
"No, you are running a fever of 104. 0 degrees Fahrenheit."
"It went up one degree, is all dad, ah-choo!"
"I am going to make you a doctor appointment for after school Miley."
"I don't need to see the doctor, I just want to come home and sleep after school dad!"
"I will not make you a doctor appointment for today. However, if you are not better in a couple days you are going to see the doctor."
"Coughing, ok dad."
"I am going to go get you some cold medicine to take."
"No, I have tests in history, chemistry, English and music class ah-choo today, so I need to stay ah-choo clear head and cold medicines just make me sleepy, coughing."
"At least take some Tylenol to help reduce the fever."
"Ok, dad!"
Miley gets up from the couch and then walks into the kitchen. She gets a clean glass out of the dish washer and then gets a glass of water. Simultaneously Robby gets his daughter two Tylenol pills and then he heads the pills to Miley. Miley takes the Tylenol from her dad and puts the pills into her mouth. She takes a drink of water to wash the Tylenol down. Then Miley walks over to her backpack and gets a cough drop out of the backpack. She takes the wrapping off the cough drop and puts the cough drop into her mouth. Simultaneously Lilly and Jackson come running down the stairs and then Miley, Lilly and Jackson walk outside to Jackson's car. Once outside all three of them get into Jackson's car and then Jackson turns his car on. A few moments later Jackson backs out of the driveway. During the ride to school Lilly and Miley are going over their history notes.
Several minutes later Jackson pulls his car into the student parking lot of the high school. He pulls the car into the first parking space that is in the second row. Jackson puts his car into the park position and then he turns the car off. Miley open the passengers' door of the car door and then she and Lilly get out of Jackson's car. Lilly shuts the car door and then Miley and Lily's walk away from Jackson's car and Jackson. The two teenage girls' walks up to the main doors of the high school and then walk into the high school. Two minutes later Miley and Lilly are walking to the history classroom and once in the classroom Miley and Lilly walks over to Oliver and Rico. Rico looks at Miley and he starts to talk Miley.
"You look horrible"
"Ah-choo, go away Rico I'm not up ah-choo to dealing with little ah-choo kids who think they are big shoots."
"Why are you in such a bad mood today?"
"I'm ah-choo sick, coughing!"
"You do not have to be rude to me!"
"Rico leave Miley alone."
"You are not my boss Lilly. However, I like Miley and I will be kind to her today."
Rico walks away from Lilly, Miley and Oliver and takes a seat at a desk in the front row. Oliver looks at Miley and then he puts his arm around Miley's left shoulder. Then Oliver lead Miley over to the desk that she seats at and once at the desk Miley takes a seat on the desk chair. Miley puts her forearms onto the desk and then lie her head onto her forearms. Simultaneously the teacher Mrs. Web walks into the classroom and then the teacher starts passing out the history test. Mrs. Web walks up to Miley last and taps her on the shoulder. Miley sits up and simultaneously Mrs. Web set the test on the desk. Miley's rub her forehead with her right hand for a few minutes and then start to take the history test. However, after answering only few questions, Miley starts coughing into her left hand and put her pen down on her desk.
"You are supposed to be taking the test Miss. Stewart, so stop coughing and get back to work."
"I will try, Mrs. Web."
"Do not try, just do it."
Miley stares at the teacher for a few minutes, then goes back to taking the test. She makes it to the last question on the test and then starts sneezing. Miley covers her mouth and nose with her right hand, so she does not spread the germs. When Miley stops sneezes, she answers the last question and then stand up from her desk chair. Miley walks to the front of the classroom and hands her test to Mrs. Web. Then Miley turns away from teacher and start walking back to her seat with her arms wrapped around her stomach. The bell rings for history class to end, as Miley is walking to her desk. Lilly and Oliver hand their tests in and then the two of them walk over to Miley. Oliver looks at Miley and start to talk to her.
"How are you feeling today? Are you feeling better then yesterday or worse then yesterday?"
"I feel awful and I'm too sick to be at school ah-choo. I want to go see the school nurse coughing."
"Is your stomach bother you?"
"No Lilly, I'm just really cold."
"Lilly we should go to our next class."
"You are right Oliver and Miley's go see the school nurse."
"I am head that way ah-choo right now."
Lilly, Oliver and Miley leave the history classroom and walk into the hallway. The three of them start walking down the hallway of the high school. When they get to the end of the hallway, Miley takes a left and start walking to the nurse office. Simultaneously Oliver and Lilly take a right and head to their next classes.
Three and half later Miley gets to the nurse office and open the door. She walks into the nurse office and closes the door behind her. Nurse Piglet looks up from doing paperwork and then the nurse looks at Miley. The nurse gets the ear thermometer right away and then Nurse Piglet walks over to Miley. The nurse puts the thermometer into Miley's right ear and simultaneously Miley starts coughing and when she stops coughing, she starts sneezing. The ear thermometer start beeping and the nurse take the thermometer out of Miley's ear. Nurse Piglet looks at the digital display on the ear thermometer and start to talk.
"You are running a fever of 104.1 degrees Fahrenheit. What symptoms do you have?"
"Ahem I have a headache, a sore throat, running nose, a cough and the chills. In addition I am achy all over and I have chest and nasal congested, coughing. Also I keep sneezing, coughing."
"Sound like you have the influenza virus. I am going to call your dad and have him pick you up from school."
"Thanks."
"Go lie down on the recovered couch until, your dad gets here."
"Ok."
Miley sets her backpack onto the floor by the door and then walks over to the recovered couch that is in the center of the room. Miley lies down on the recovered couch and shut her eyes. However, she ends up sitting up because she starts coughing really hard and is having trouble breathing since she is unable to breathe through her nose.
