Chapter 54: The Ares Up There

Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. As some of you have asked yes I just saw the new Black Panther movie and Black Adam movies. Now both were amazing but don't ask if I'll use anything from them just yet. Not sure at the moment. In the meantime, I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.

We find ourselves in Jaden's room at the Superhero High dorms, On his laptop, Jaden was talking to Zee over a video call.

"So Zee where are you and your dad going?" Jaden asks.

"After all that time wearing the helmet Dad wanted to go on a little trip to make up for lost time. I really wish you could have come, but sadly he wanted it to be a daddy-daughter trip." Zee said.

"It's fine. Go have fun, just bring me back a souvenir when you get back." Jaden brushes off.

"Oh I'll bring a lot more when I get back." Zee smirks. "I still owe you a big thanks for giving me back my dad."

"Strange was the one who did all the heavy lifting." Jaden said.

"Yeah but you were the one who convinced him to stand up to Fate. And when I get back Jaden I'm going to show you how grateful I am." Zee winks making him blush.

"Hope your dad didn't hear that." Jaden said making her giggle.

"Just sit tight until I get back Jaden. Love you." Zee said blowing him a kiss before hanging up.

Smiling Jaden was happy for her. She finally got to spend time with her dad after she thought she lost him forever.

Suddenly Jaden's train of thought was interrupted by an unknown caller.

Slowly answering it, Jaden is surprised to see Raven's face appear on the screen.

"Hello? Hello? Spider-Man do you read me?" Raven asks unsure if she got him.

"Uh yeah it's me Raven." Jaden answers.

"Where are you? I can't see your face?" Raven asks.

Turn your camera on." Jaden instructs.

When Raven clicks it the screen went black.

"Uh oh I think I lost you." Jaden said.

"No that's just me. Dad turned off the lights and it is the underworld. Things are just black." Turning on a small light we see an outline of Raven's face.

Ever since that incident with Mysterio, Jaden and Raven had pretty much become pen pals.

It definitely seemed to make Raven's day when she had a friend to talk to about her dad and the pressure he kept putting on her.

"So then my dad nagged me for hours about the best way to scare people on the surface. I mean seriously. How does he expect me to make people scream when they're around him?" Raven asks.

"Well with a face like his of course scaring people is easy. I mean have you looked at the guy?" Jaden asks making her giggle.

"True enough, but seriously until I master my magic this is as close as I'll ever get to going to the surface." Raven sighs.

"Hey you'll get it sooner or later. In meantime, you still have your friendly Penpal Spider-Man." Jaden offers.

"Thanks Spidey." Raven smiles softly.

"Raven! Where are you?! It's time for your lessons!" Trigon echoes.

"Uh oh. My dad. Gotta go." Raven said hanging up.

"It's a shame she's not a student here. I bet Principal Waller would love to have another magic user in this school." Jaden said.

The next day, we see Diana and Steve sitting with Jaden and Kara.

"So guys I have some news. Tomorrow is the Party of Plenty. One of the best celebrations in Themyscria. And I want all of you to come with me."

While all the girls seemed, interested Jaden had an unsure look.

"Uh Diana do I have to?" Jaden gulps.

"What? You don't want to come? But this is a big deal." Diana said.

"Yeah but every time I come over those Amazons threaten me with their spears. They act like I'm gonna steal something valuable from them." Jaden groans.

"You kinda did." Kara said gesturing to Diana.

"Hey I didn't steal her! She became my girl by choice just like you and Barbara." Jaden points out.

"Your girl." Diana smiles liking that.

"Relax Jaden, they're not going to kill you but Amazons are not the easiest people to open up and let their guard down." Steve assures.

"As long as you stay close to me, they won't hurt you." Diana said.

"You just want me to go because you love it when you have me all to yourself." Jaden glares.

"What? No." Diana blushes. "I just want my boyfriend to experience my culture with me."

"Well at least I get to come along too, right?" Kara said.

"Of course my best friends are always welcome to come. Though sadly Barbara said she needed some time to herself. So we do have an open spot." Diana said when Harley and Squirrel Girl dropped in.

"Ooh a party?! Can we come?" Harley asks.

"What were you two doing?" Jaden asks.

"Harley wanted to do a climbing contest against Mr. Nibbles." Squirrel Girl said.

"Well I guess since we have the opening you can come." Kara said.

"Yes!" Both girls cheered.

"So Jaden what do you say?" Diana asks turning to him.

Looking at her, Jaden saw her pleading face.

"Oh…alright." Jaden said.

Smiling Diana gives him a big kiss on the cheek.

"I promise you won't regret it." Diana vows.

As the girls headed out, Steve patted Jaden on the shoulder.

"Amazons. They know how to get what they want." Steve said.

"What are you complaining about? You're married to the Queen so you're safe I'm not." Jaden reminds.

"Take it from me, they'll open up you just got to give them time." Steve said speaking from experience.

"I hope you're right Cap." Jaden sighs.

Soon they were flying to Themyscria, upon arrival Steve and Diana were greeted with a warm welcome.

As Jaden steps up the Spear ladies glared at him.

Yelping Jaden grabs Diana's hand and holds it close.

Giving a small sigh Diana couldn't help but love this.

"Diana! Steve!" Slowly making her way out we see Hippolyta with a 4-month pregnant belly approaching them.

"Mom." Diana smiles.

"My queen you mustn't be so reckless." An amazon guard said.

"I'm pregnant. Not helpless. And I'm not even at that stage yet." Hippolyta said as her family approached her.

"Were they like this when you were pregnant with Diana?" Steve asks.

"All the time. I couldn't get a minute of privacy." Hippolyta giggles.

"I'm sorry I haven't called in a while mom. But a lot of things came up and then—" Diana started.

"Oh I know all about the Avengers sweetie. And I couldn't be prouder. My husband and my daughter, two of Earth's Mightiest Heroes." Hippolyta declares.

"We'll have plenty of time to talk about it during the party." Diana said.

"Of course. Come along everyone for the feast." Hippolyta said as they slowly made their way to the palace.

"You all go ahead. I need to do something first." Steve said walking in a different direction.

Making his way atop, a large hill Steve sees Artemis standing in front of a plague overlooking Themyscria and its beautiful ocean.

"I should have known you'd be here Artemis." Steve said getting her attention.

"I couldn't help myself. He always wanted to come to this party during the war. And after everything that's happened…" Artemis frowns.

"Yeah I know." Making his way toward her we see the plague read.

In honor of James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes. A Solider. A Hero. A Friend.

"Bucky would have loved this party." Steve frowns.

"Yeah…I still remember that day." Artemis said.

"Me too." Steve nods.

Flashback:

We find ourselves in WW2, as Cap, Bucky, Logan, Hippolyta and Artemis were looking down a cable that was hanging over some train tracks.

"Remember when I made you ride the Cyclone at Coney Island?" Bucky reminds.

"Yeah and I threw up?" Captain America recalls.

"This isn't payback, is it?" Bucky asks.

"Now why would I do that?" Cap smirks.

"Our sources were right. Zola is on that train and it's moving fast." Hippolyta said.

"We only got a 10-second window. Any more and we're just bugs on a windshield." Cap said as they all readied themselves.

"Hope you ladies can handle it." Bucky smirks.

"Funny, I was about to say the same thing about you." Artemis smirks as a train came in at an incredible speed.

"Less talking more action." Running past them Logan slides down the cable and uses his claws to stab into the train and continued forward.

Sliding down the cable, the squad landed atop the train.

Finding their way in, the four of them had weapons at the ready, but to their surprise, there wasn't anyone when they got in.

As Captain America and Artemis took the lead Bucky and Hippolyta took up the rear.

Suddenly the door dividing them slammed shut much to their confusion.

"Look out!" Bucky pulls Hippolyta out of the way as two Hydra Agents with guns fired at them.

Running for cover, Bucky and Hippolyta hid behind some crates for cover.

Drawing her sword, Hippolyta threw it across the hall stabbing an agent through his helmet killing him.

In the next room, Captain America and Artemis look to see another Hydra Agent emerge, but this one had two large double barrel blasters powered by the tesseract aimed at them.

"I really hate these men." Artemis whines as the Agent opened fired on them.

Using his shield Cap tries to deflect it, but the force from the attack knocked him back.

Drawing her arrows, Artemis fires at him, but the agent dodges and fires knocking her into some crates.

Grabbing his shield, Cap throws it causing the Hydra Agent to stumble back.

Using this opening Captain America leaped along a rail and slid across the room toward the agent.

As he fired, Cap jumps off and rams into him knocking him to the ground.

"Steve! Bucky and Queen Hippolyta are in trouble!" Artemis yells.

Running to the door they saw the two of them were pinned down.

Taking out his gun, Captain America fires at the door breaking it open.

As Bucky was about to shoot Artemis fired an arrow killing the agent when it pierced his chest.

"I had him on the ropes." Bucky assures.

"Sure you did. I just took him out." Artemis smirks.

"Do you always have to be my babysitter?" Bucky rolls his eyes.

Suddenly the Agent with the Tesseract gear appeared at the door.

Aiming his weapon at them he fired.

"Get down!" Raising his shield Cap tried to deflect it but the blast knocked him and Artemis to the ground before blowing the side of the train off.

Grabbing the shield, Bucky opened fire on him, but the agent fired 2 more blasts knocking him and Hippolyta off the train.

Gasping Cap threw his shield knocking the Hydra Agent to the ground allowing Artemis to stab him through the chest killing him.

"Bucky! Hippolyta!" Steve yells taking off his mask.

Running to the edge, he and Artemis see Bucky and Hippolyta holding onto the rails for dear life.

"Give me your hand!"Steve said as they reached out.

Struggling Bucky and Hippolyta inched towards them when Bucky heard a break.

Looking up he saw the rail holding him and Hippolyta was beginning to snap. Neither one of them would make it if he didn't act fast.

Turning around Bucky grabbed Hippolyta by the arm.

"Bucky?" She said confused.

"Hippolyta I'm sorry." Bucky apologized.

"Save it for later. We'll make it." Hippolyta assures.

"No I mean I'm sorry…but the world needs the Queen of the Amazons more than Bucky!" Mustering up all the strength he had Bucky threw Hippolyta towards Steve and Artemis who caught her.

"Bucky!" Steve gasps.

"She's a keeper Steve. Take good care of her." Bucky said.

Gasping Steve looked to see the rail holding Bucky break sending him falling into the freezing snow below.

"NO! BUCKY!" Steve yells in horror as his best friend fell to his death.

Dropping to his knees Steve began to cry while Hippolyta and Artemis hung their heads.

"You idiot." Artemis chokes as a tear ran down her eyes.

In the front of the train, Armin Zola heard a slashing noise and suddenly Logan burst in with claws pointed right at him.

"You're done Zola." He growls making the scientist whimper in fear.

They completed their mission, but they lost a great friend.

Flashback End:

"Bucky gave his life to save our queen. He earned this honor." Artemis declares.

"I'd rather him be here." Steve said.

"All those years I messed with him, teased him. Now I'd give anything to have him call me names or make fun of me." Artemis sniffles.

"I know. I miss him too." Steve said putting a hand on her shoulder.

Wiping her face, Artemis tried to compose herself.

"Come on, let's get to the feast before the guards scare Diana's boyfriend away." Artemis said.

"Yeah Jaden needs all the help he can get." Steve agrees.

At the party we see everyone sitting around as a big plate of food was lined up.

As the Spear Amazons narrowed their eyes Jaden gulps scooting closer to Diana who was clearly loving this.

Pouting Kara couldn't help but be a little jealous of all this.

Slowly standing up, Hippolyta raised her glass.

"Everyone welcome to the Party of—" Before she could finish Jaden's spidey sense went off.

"Everyone get down!" Jaden yells just as an earthquake went off startling them.

"Earthquake!" Squirrel Girl said when a pillar of flames erupted in the middle of the room.

"No. An Aresquake!" Diana corrects.

Emerging from the flames we see a man in blue and black war armor and a purple cape.

"Who's the party crasher?" Kara asks.

"Ares, God of War." Diana declares.

"Ares, you are not welcome here. And I insist—" Hippolyta starts.

"I got this Mrs. America." Harley interrupts before turning to Ares. "Hey Mr. War you are not on the Guest List and I didn't invite myself to this party to get all shook up so get lost!" Taking out her mallet, Harley swings it at him but Ares catches it with one hand and throws Harley across the room smashing into the table and falling off it.

"I heard Captain America had returned. Where is that coward? Hiding away like usual?" Ares asks.

"Not a chance." Suddenly Cap's shield came flying in and nailed Ares in the chest.

Looking up, Hippolyta smiles to see her husband walk in.

"Really Ares? I thought I put you in your place back in World War 2." Steve said catching his shield.

"Captain America. My archenemy. I heard a rumor that you had returned. Lucky me. I get to kill you myself now as payback for ruining my war!" Ares declares drawing a sword.

"This guy is your archenemy?" Kara whispers.

"So he believes…it's a long story." Steve mutters.

Roaring in anger, Ares charges at him and slams his sword down.

Raising his shield, Steve blocks the attack and the two clashed.

Pushing back, Ares swings his other arm in but Steve dodges and kicks him in the chest making Ares skid back.

Grabbing the table, Ares throws it at them.

"Whoa hey!" Flying in Supergirl caught the table before it crushed anyone.

"Archenemy or not this Party Crasher needs to get lost." Jaden said putting on his mask and all the heroes stepped up.

"Alright kids, follow my lead." Steve said putting on his mask.

"Batter up!" Harley swings her hammer about to charge in when Ares blasts the top part off. "Uh batter down."

"Don't suppose you have any god stopping weapons?" Spider-Man asks as Hippolyta gasps.

"The Amulet of Harmonium." She declares.

"Harley go to the Hall of Honors and find that amulet!" Wonder Woman orders.

"One amulet coming up!" Harley said running out the door.

As Ares swings his sword, Spider-Man fires a web yanking it out of his hand.

"Hey take it easy buddy. This ain't that kind of party!" Swinging in Spider-Man kicks him in the face.

"You think you can defeat me? I am a god and you're a mortal." Ares mocks.

"Buddy, you ever of a hear of video game called God of War pal? That's all about mortals kicking your ass. And spoiler alert you died first." Spider-Man mocks.

"Why you!" Before Ares could counter, Supergirl and Wonder Woman rammed into him knocking Ares toward the balcony.

As Supergirl fires her heat vision, Ares uses a sword to deflect knocking her back.

Leaping up Squirrel Girl dives in with a flying kick but Ares blocks it.

Using this chance, Captain America rams into Ares knocking him off the balcony and into the forest below.

"You stay here Hippolyta. We got this." Cap said as they jumped down after him.

In another part of the palace, Harley opened the door and saw so many treasures and trophies.

"Oh mama. This like the hardest Where is Waldo ever." Harley said looking around for the amulet.

Down below in the forest near the palace, the fight was getting intense as Ares unleashed one fierce fire attack after another.

"We can't beat him if we can't get close to him." Wonder Woman said.

"We'd need an army to get near him." Supergirl said.

"An army? I got just the thing." Squirrel Girl said before letting out a whistle that echoed throughout the island.

Seconds later, they heard rustling through all the trees. Eyes widening Ares saw every branch on the trees surrounding him be packed with Squirrels.

"Whoa." All the other heroes said surprised.

"Here's your army. Attack!" Squirrel Girl orders.

Chattering all the squirrels jumped out of the trees and attacked Ares.

"Aagh! Get off of me!" Ares said trying to throw them off.

Roaring in anger he bursts into flames blowing them away.

Using this opening Spider-Man fires a web tying his hands up.

Charging in Squirrel Girl nails a fierce kick to the gut before jumping back allowing Supergirl and Wonder Woman to punch him in the face.

"I said this to you in World War 2 and I'll say it again. Get out!" Captain America said slamming his shield down on his head and knocking Ares to the ground.

Taking out her lasso, Wonder Woman ties Ares up.

"Let me make one thing clear Ares. As long as I'm breathing you will never win." Captain America vows.

"How dare a mere mortal order me around! I am Ares!" Ares yells growing exponentially in size which allowed him to break the lasso's hold until he was as tall as the palace.

"We're gonna need a lot more squirrels." Squirrel Girl gulps.

"You shall pay for your insolence!" Ares said summoning a sword and mace.

"Everyone run!" Artemis yells as all the amazons inside ran for cover.

As Hippolyta tried to follow her stomach began to ache making her stop.

When the giant sword smashes into the palace Hippolyta was knocked out.

"Hippolyta!/ Mom!" Captain America and Wonder Woman panic.

Firing a web, Spider-Man swings in and catches her before she hit the ground.

"Phew that was close." Spider-Man said.

"Maybe being pregnant is a little more taxing than I remember." Hippolyta smiles weakly.

"Don't worry your majesty I got ya." Spider-Man said helping her up and walking her to safety.

Seeing this the two of them glares at Ares.

"You're gonna pay for that!" Grabbing their shields both father and daughter threw them hitting Ares in the head.

Roaring in pain, Ares dropped his weapons allowing Squirrel Girl and Supergirl to hit the mace making it drop down on his foot and making Ares scream in agony.

"I got it! I got it!" Harley said running in with the amulet.

"You found it." Wonder Woman smiles as Harley leaps onto Are's arm.

"Hey Airhead what's the big idea?" Harley asks.

"No! Not that!" Ares said as Harley slaps the amulet on his head and instantly the magic engulfs him making him calm down. "Whoa. I'm feeling all harmonious."

Shrinking down to normal size, Ares used his power to put the palace back together.

"I'm so sorry for tearing up your party. I'm just gonna go home and meditate. Namaste friends." Ares said before disappearing in a puff of flames.

"I wish I had that thing when we first fought." Steve said taking off his mask.

"Okay your majesty easy does it." Jaden said helping Hippolyta in.

"Mom are you okay?" Diana asks.

"I am, thanks to your boyfriend. This one might be a keeper sweetie." Hippolyta teases.

"Mom." Diana blushes.

As the Spear Maidens looked at Jaden he cringed fearing what was about to happen but instead of pointing the spears at him the ladies dropped the spears at his feet and nod in respect.

"Wait what? Where are the pointy sticks? Where are the death glares?" Jaden asks confused.

"You saved our queen and future member of the royal household. Even the most stubborn Amazons can't hate a man who goes that far." Artemis smirks.

"I told you, they'd warm up to you." Steve chuckles.

"I swear every time I come home something crazy happens." Diana said.

"No kidding." Harley said as she and Squirrel Girl laugh.

That night, after the feast Jaden was given his own room to rest.

"Well at least it's better than where they put me last time." Jaden said when he heard a knock at the door.

"Hey? You got a second?" Diana asks peeking her head in.

"I've heard Greeks can throw Wild Parties but I think that was too wild." Jaden said.

"Normally we don't have an angry god crashing the party." Diana giggles.

"What's up?" Jaden asks as she walks up to him.

"I wanted to say I'm sorry." Diana apologized confusing him. "I know you didn't want to come, but I wanted you to and we ended up with all this."

"Why were you so eager for me to come?" Jaden asks.

"Look I know you love me and I know you love other girls too and I'm fine with that, but well…sometimes I want you to look me like I'm the only girl in your life. And when you're here with me I feel like that sometimes." Diana admits.

"Diana." Jaden said.

"I know it sounds selfish and like I'm a greedy Princess, but I'm sorry." Diana said when Jaden gives her a hug.

"You're not greedy. But I understand I may be good at giving all my girls love, but I maybe I need to do some more one on one time with everyone. How about we try going on a date when we get back to Metropolis?" Jaden offers.

"It's a date." Leaning in Diana kisses him on the lips which he happily returns.

"So feel better?" Jaden asks.

"Much, and to show I'm fine with sharing I got you something to make it up to you." Diana teases.

"Is that my cue?" Floating in from the balcony, Kara joins them.

"Kara?" Jaden said surprised.

"I spent the whole day watching you and Diana being all close and lovey-dovey. Now I want some of that." Kara said.

"You heard her." Diana gestures.

Letting go, Jaden walks over to Kara and gives her a kiss which she happily returns.

"You girls spending the night here by any chance?" Jaden asks.

"Like you even have to ask." Kara grins as both girls grabbed him.

With their super suits on the floor Jaden was in a three-way make-out session as Kara and Diana kissed him passionately.
