Chapter 55: A Fury Scorned

Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. Wow. I can't believe it's been 5 years since I first made this story. A lot has happened since Jaden Cooper became Spider-Man. From this one story I took my version of Spider-Man and expanded him into other stories. And wow, 5 years, 55 chapters, and over 600 followers and favorites! Thank you all so much for your support and I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.

We find ourselves at Belle Reve as Spider-Man was patrolling the inside of the prison.

Passing by several cells we get a glimpse of some familiar faces including Rhino, Shocker, and Scorpion.

Making his way past one cell he sees Electro glowing inside.

"Well look at you Sparkles. New look same prison cell." Spider-Man said.

"Oh great you again," Electro said.

"Heard you got your butt kicked. Shame it wasn't me." Spider-Man said.

"Why don't let me out of this cell and we can see who gets their butt kicked?" Electro taunts.

"Ha. No thanks I think the prisoners like having you here as their new nightlight." Spider-Man mocks walking away.

Growling Electro wanted nothing more than to get back at him.

Making his way past one cell we see Adrian Toomes inside reading a book.

"Sup Toomes." Spider-Man said.

"Hey Spider-Man." He said glancing up.

"You seem to be comfy here. And you're the only criminal here who hasn't told me to go to hell since I walked in." Spider-Man said.

"How does one kid piss off an entire prison?" Adrian asks.

"I'm a people person...who knows how to piss everyone off." Spider-Man shrugs.

Ever since Spider-Man had saved his life after that incident with the Wild Five, the former Vulture had become more tolerable to the young hero.

"Hey think you can tell the library cart to stop by my cell tomorrow? I'm almost done." Adrian asks.

"I'll see what I can do. Later." Spider-Man said.

Meanwhile, up at the front entrance Batgirl and Hawkgirl were escorting a cloaked prisoner inside.

"Batgirl and Hawkgirl here for a prisoner drop-off," Batgirl said as the security opened the door.

Making their way inside they were greeted by Commissioner Gordon.

"Batgirl, Hawkgirl. Great job bringing in the Cloaked Shadow." Gordon congratulates.

"All in a night's work Commissioner," Hawkgirl said.

"Well Spider-Man is just finishing up his time patrolling the inside. He'll meet you out here soon." Gordon adds. "So where are the rest of your friends?"

"Out investigating.

"Guess we didn't even need him. She was gonna end up here sooner or later. Just glad it was sooner." Batgirl said.

"Me too." Breaking from the hold, the figure took off the cloak to reveal it was actually Lashina.

"Lashina?!" Hawkgirl said as she fired a dart hitting Gordon in the arm.

"No!" Batgirl said running to his side.

From the back Spider-Man hears the scream and runs out to see a horrible familiar sight.

Seeing Batgirl holding her father in her arms Spider-Man's eyes widen in horror. It was like seeing that day all over again.

"Please! Someone call an ambulance!" Batgirl panics.

"Really Lashina? This again?" Spider-Man glares turning his attention to her.

"Thanks for bringing me in girls, security is such a pain," Lashina smirks taking out her whip. "Now I'll just get my Female Furies and we'll get out of your way."

"You didn't get them last time what makes you think you'll get them this time?" Spider-Man asks.

"Because if you don't then he dies," Lashina said gesturing to Gordon. "That dart was poisoned and the antidote is at the one place in Metropolis that reminds me of home. Don't mean to throw you all into a "sticky" situation but time is running out. What'll it be? Me or him?" Lashina bargains.

Hearing this Batgirl and Hawkgirl had no idea what to do but Spider-Man did.

"Let her go," Spider-Man said surprising them.

"What?!" Both girls gasp.

"Smart choice Spidey," Lashina smirks.

"I'll make sure he's still breathing. You two go get that cure." Spider-Man said grabbing Gordon.

"But what about Lashina?" Hawkgirl asks.

"Let her have this," Spider-Man said making her smirk.

Walking up to him, she pats Spider-Man on the cheek. "Heroes are so predictable. I'll be sure to tell the other furies who to thank for helping me free them."

Seeing this Batgirl glared daggers at her.

"Don't get cocky. I'll get you for this soon." Batgirl said as she and Hawkgirl ran off to try and find the cure while Spider-Man brought Gordon to his Spidercycle.

"Alright Commish. If you're half as tough as your daughter you'll hold on." Spider-Man said.

As Lashina made her way into the prison and the heroes ran off to save Gordon nobody noticed a shadowy figure had already snuck in.

Making our way down the hall, we see several guards had been taken out.

Approaching a cell, a light shines down to the sound of metallic movements.

"Doctor Otto Octavius." A female voice said getting his attention.

Coming into the light we see Doc Ock look at the figure.

"Depends on who's asking." He glares.

Stepping out of the shadows the figure was a woman with long black hair that hung down over one of her eyes, a leather outfit and a sword in her arm. This was Talia Al Ghul.

"An investor interested in your talents." Talia said.

"What's in it for me?" Doc Ock asks.

"We need your knowledge to help build a special device. If you agree to it not only will you be freed from this cell but the League of Assassins will also reward you for your services to whatever you desire." Talia clarifies.

"What I want? I only want one thing. Revenge." Doc Ock grins standing up.

Seeing that she had her answer Talia slashed the cell open freeing Doc Ock as the alarm went off.

However, every guard in the prison that wasn't unconscious thought it was because of the other prisoners escaping.

As Doc Ock stepped out of his cell, they didn't notice Adrian saw all of it.

Blasting a hole through the wall, Lashina leads the Female Furies out into the courtyard.

"Let's go home Furies. Stompa activate the mother box." Lashina orders throwing it to her teammate.

As the guards went to try and recapture them Stompa activates the box and the Female Furies finally escaped.

"Aw man not again." Brian the security guard groans.

None of them were aware that the other prison break went off without a hitch.

Meanwhile, in the city, we see Batgirl in her jet flying alongside Hawkgirl through the air trying to find the antidote while Spider-Man was far behind.

"Lashina said the antidote is in the place that reminds her most of Apokolips," Hawkgirl recalls.

"Let's see Apokolips is dark." Batgirl starts.

"Dangerous," Hawkgirl adds.

"And smells really bad." Batgirl finishes.

"Is there anywhere in the city that resembles that even remotely?" Hawkgirl asks.

"The Centennial Park Tarpits! That's what she meant by sticky situation." Batgirl gasps before sending a message. "Spider-Man follow these coordinates and meet us there."

"You got it." He nods.

"How's my dad holding up?" Batgirl asks.

"He's seen better days. Grab that antidote and fast." Spider-Man said.

Not needing to be told twice, both heroes land near the tarpits.

"You take the west quadrant and I'll take the east," Hawkgirl said as they split up.

Taking out her night vision goggles Batgirl looks around through all the tarpits and past all the fake extinct animals that were along the tar.

"Ugh kinda glad Jaden and I never came here for a date night." She cringed.

Looking around Batgirl gasps finding the antidote atop a fake elephant that was stuck in the tar.

"Hang on dad." Batgirl said before jumping up onto a tree.

Taking out her grappling hook she fired so the rope wrapped around the elephant tusk.

Tying one end to the branch Batgirl slid in towards the antidote but the added weight made the fake animal sink deeper into the tar causing Batgirl to lose her balance and fall into the tar.

"Hawkgirl help!" Batgirl yells sinking deeper into the tar.

Gasping Hawkgirl flew in to see Batgirl was already down to her waist in tar.

"Hang on! I'll pull you out!" Hawkgirl said.

"No. Get the antidote to my dad first then come back for me!" Batgirl points

Not liking this Hawkgirl knew she had to.

Grabbing the box she flew back to the ship.

"Spider-Man location! Now!" Hawkgirl yells as he pulled up just seconds later.

"Right here you don't need to shout," Spider-Man said helping Gordon up revealing he was as sick as a dog. "Where's Batgirl?"

"She fell in the tar, she's sinking fast," Hawkgirl warns.

"Trade ya," Spider-Man said putting Gordon down before running off to go help her.

Flying down Hawkgirl pours the antidote down Gordon's throat causing him to groan softly as more color started to return to his face.

Back with Batgirl, she was struggling to get free but the tar was too thick and sticky for her to do much.

Gasping for air she was about to be pulled in when suddenly a web grabbed her by the arm.

"Hang on!" Spider-Man yells pulling with all his might yanking her out of the tar and landing in his arms bridal style.

"My hero." Batgirl smirks.

"Hawkgirl gave the antidote to your dad but I recommend we still take him to the hospital," Spider-Man said putting her down.

"You were really eager to help save my dad back there. Neither of us wanted to make that choice, but you did. Why did you do it?" Batgirl asks.

"I know what it's like to lose a dad. I didn't want you to lose yours like I lost mine. When I saw you holding your dad in your arms panicking…it was just like that day." Spider-Man said.

"You know we're probably gonna get in trouble for this with the paper?" Batgirl asks.

"Big deal Jameson complains about me all the time I'll take the heat for this," Spider-Man said.

"You are something else you know that?" Batgirl smiles.

"I do what I can." Spider-Man said.

Lifting up the bottom half of his mask Batgirl kisses him on the lips. "Thank you." She smiles.

"Anytime." He smiles.

Soon they were in the hospital as we look into one room and see Gordon lying in bed recovering while Batgirl and Spider-Man filled him in on what happened while TRACE-E was showing the report on what happened in prison.

"So Hawkgirl is telling Waller and SHIELD what happened but it seems like the Female Furies all managed to escape," Batgirl explains.

"And unfortunately, Doc Ock escaped as well." Spider-Man sighs pointing to the destroyed cell.

"Wait the Furies wanted Doc Ock as well?" Gordon asks confused.

"No, the guards say he didn't leave with them he must have escaped during all the chaos," Batgirl said.

"The Furies are one thing but Doc is something else. He's dangerous if he's out in the world. Especially to OSCORP and the school." Spider-Man said as TRACE-E chirped in agreement.

"We'll catch them all soon. In the meantime, I better get back to work." Gordon said trying to get out of bed.

"Dad no. The doctor said you have to stay until they're sure all the Apolaliptian poison is gone." Batgirl warns.

"Just sit tight Comish. You could use a day off or two. Relax, watch tv, put up your feet if you want to." Spider-Man said.

"Look Spidey I appreciate the thought but—" Before he could finish Spider-Man leans in.

"You almost died in your daughter's arms tonight. If you won't do it for yourself at least do it for her." Spider-Man whispers.

Hearing this Gordon realized he was right. Barbara must have been terrified seeing him like that.

"I guess I can stay for a while." Gordon sighs.

"Thanks, Dad," Batgirl said when suddenly the ground shook.

"Oh boy. This night just will not end." Spider-Man said.

Outside the hospital we see Giganta stomping through the streets.

"Who took my sunglasses?!" Giganta yells as Cyborg flew in with Jolt Arachnid behind him.

"Hey Fee Fi Fo Fum Giganta!" Jolt Arachnid calls out.

"Calm down girl your sunglasses are on your head!" Cyborg points.

Reaching up Giganta touched the top of her head and realized her sunglasses were there.

"Oh." She smiles.

"Why do you even those? It's the middle of the night?" Jolt Arachnid asks.

"Seriously girl you need to get yourself some anger management therapy," Cyborg advises.

"I don't have an anger problem!" Taking her giant sunglasses off Giganta hurls them at Cyborg.

Firing a web Jolt Arachnid yanks them out of the way before they hit them.

"Big girl big issues." Jolt Arachnid said as they ran to avoid being crushed.

"Hey!" Looking down they saw the sibling duo of Lightning and Thunder come to their aid.

"No one messes." Thunder starts.

"With our friends!" Lightning said as both sisters unleashed their attacks causing Giganta to stumble back.

"Alright, girls together. Let's take this big girl down." Cyborg said activating his sonic cannon.

Stomping her feet, Thunder releases multiple sonic waves allowing Jolt Arachnid to swing in and web her feet together.

As Lightning blasts her, Cyborg charges up his cannon and fires making her fall back.

"Hey stop that or else!" Grabbing a telephone pole, Giganta used it to try and get back up but ended up electrocuting herself making her fall over unconscious.

Unfortunately, she ended up taking such a big shot that the electricity went down in the whole city.

"Oh come on!" Cyborg groans.

"Not again!" Jolt Arachnid groans as thunderclouds echoed and rain started to come down.

At the hospital, Spider-Man and Batgirl were startled when all the power went out.

"The ER!" A nurse gasps.

"Nurse quick!" A doctor yells.

"Oh no the patients!" Spider-Man gasps.

"Some are in a lot worse condition than my dad! We need power stat!" Batgirl gasps.

"You get out there and try and fix it I'll try to get the backup generator up and working," Spider-Man said.

"Good luck," Batgirl said running out.

"TRACE-E time to get to work," Spider-Man said as the little robot hopped onto his shoulder and they ran downstairs.

Arriving at the generator, Spider-Man and TRACE-E saw it was disabled.

"Aw man, we gotta get this thing back online," Spider-Man said going to the controls. "We need a boost of electricity to jumpstart this."

Squeaking TRACE-E gestures to his web shooters.

"My taser webs? Hopefully, that can buy us enough time." Spider-Man said as two spiders fired webs and send electricity flowing from them and into the generator causing the lights and machines to turn on in the hospital.

Cringing the two had to stand their ground.

"Hurry…up…Batgirl." Spider-Man said.

On the streets of Metropolis, Batgirl swung in to see Ms. Marvel, Spider-Woman, Supergirl, and Wonder Woman tying up Giganta.

"Batgirl help," Cyborg said weakly as he was leaning against Jolt Arachnid for support.

"What's going on?" She asks.

"Dude used up all his power. And he can't recharge." Jolt Arachnid said.

"Going down," Cyborg said as the lights turned off and he collapsed against his teammate.

"Don't worry we'll get you fixed," Batgirl assures.

"We can't. We have to get the power going." Supergirl said as she and Wonder Woman flew in.

"If we don't get the power back on soon Metropolis will plunge into chaos," Spider-Woman said.

"Arachnid can't you help jumpstart it?" Wonder Woman asks.

"My powers aren't enough to get a whole city back online." Jolt Arachnid said.

"But I know who can," Batgirl recalls.

At the Capes and Cowls, we see Lightning and Thunder escorting citizens inside.

"Everyone this way! Emergency shelter!" Thunder calls out.

"And heat!" Lightning calls out.

"Lightning I need your help!" Batgirl said running over.

"But what about Thunder?" Lightning asks.

"Just you," Batgirl said taking her hand.

As Thunder watched her sister run off with Batgirl an uneasy look was on her face.

Leading Lightning to the top of the Power Grid, she held the wires to reconnect the power.

Using her powers, Lightning sent electricity flowing through the wires but only a little managed to go through.

"Come on Lightning. We need more!" Batgirl calls out.

"I-I can't do it." Lightning pants getting tired.

"Yes, you can." Thunder said showing up. "Don't you remember sis? Dad always said we could do anything."

"When we work as a team." Lightning said happy to see her sister. "One…two…"

"Three!" Both sisters said.

Using their powers at the same time Thunder leaps high into the air before slamming her feet down on the ground sending a shockwave towards Lightning magnifying her powers and sending electricity through the generator.

As more of it flowed Lightning's grip on the wires started to loosen.

"Can't hold it much…longer." She cringed.

"Just a little more sis." Thunder calls out when suddenly a web shot in and held the wires together.

"Figured you needed a hand." Jolt Arachnid said joining them.

"You spiders always have a knack for timing." Batgirl smiles.

"Yeah, it's a gift." He smiles as all the power came back on.

Back at the hospital, Spider-Man and TRACE-E were lying against the generator exhausted from using their taser webs for so long.

"Oh thank god that's fixed." Spider-Man groans.

Chirping TRACE-E was equally exhausted when the door opens revealing a woman who was the Chief of Medicine.

"What do we have here?" She said.

"Ehh what's up doc?" Spider-Man jokes weakly.

"I'll tell you what's up apparently for the entire duration of the blackout our backup generator somehow had enough charge to keep everything going here." She said.

"Yeah guess that was us," Spider-Man said.

"Thank you so much. You saved so many of our patients." She said helping him up.

"I just did what anyone would have done," Spider-Man said.

"Well, I have a few people who want to thank you." Leading him outside, Spider-Man was surprised to see all the staff smiling and applauding him.

He even saw a few child patients using paper plates drawn to resemble his mask making him feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Spidey may not have saved the day but he was the hero to some people.

A few days later, we find ourselves at Superhero High as all the students, staff and mentors were gathered in the auditorium.

"What do you think his announcement is about?" Stargirl asks.

"I don't know. Waller just said it was something big." Spider-Woman said.

As Waller and Grodd took to the stage, everyone quieted down.

"Attention students and faculty. We have a special event coming up. This year Superhero High is proud to host…the Intergalactic Games!" Waller declares getting everyone's attention.

"Oh, baby this just got good." Iron Man grins.

"The what games?" Captain America asks.

"Intergalactic. Basically, Cap it's the best school event ever. I'm gonna need a lot of popcorn for this." Hawkeye grins.

"We will be facing off against our rivals at Korugar Academy in a series of amazing events that will test your skills, powers, and resolve as a hero. And show the entire world the kind of hero you are. The Games will be divided into 3 events. Since Superhero High is hosting this year we are allowed to showcase as many heroes as we want for the first event. But afterward, we will need a team of 5 heroes and 1 substitute for events 2, 3, and 4 in the event of a tiebreaker. How will we determine these team members will depend on all of you." Waller said as the students began to wonder if they could do it.

"Sounds like we're gonna be busy," Falcon said.

"What kind of mentors would we be if we didn't train our students to win?" Black Widow grins.

"I'm down." Doctor Strange said interested.

"And as a special surprise. We will be having a surprise guest join us at the Judge's table. Straight from the council, Ambassador Bek will be joining us for the games. Where he will be scouting for one hero to join as a guest for the Intergalactic Summit meeting." Waller declares.

"The Summit?" Wonder Woman said in awe.

"Now I want to see you all push yourselves and show your absolute best. Because I don't plan on losing to Korugar again!" Waller said pumping everyone up.

As the meeting ended all the students started to talk.

"A team of 6? Man, how are they gonna pick that from all of us?" Batgirl asks.

"What's to worry about? We're the Avengers. If we can beat an Alien Invasion then we can definitely get those spots." Supergirl said.

"Assuming the Titans don't get them first," Bumblebee said.

"Agreed we have just as much chance as you guys," Starfire said.

Hearing that declaration, Nightwing and Spider-Man slowly turned their heads and they saw the other looking right at them.

'Looks if I want to compete, I'll have to deal with some REAL competition first.' They both thought.

Little did any of them know, Lena was way in the back.

As she looked out at all the heroes who were eager for the games where they would all be gathered in one area an evil grin appeared on her face.

'I better get to work I've got a lot of preparations to make.' Lena thought.

Meanwhile, in an unknown location in the mountains, Talia and Doc Ock made their way into a high-tech lab.

"What do you think of your new workspace?" Talia asks.

"Quite an upgrade. You Assassins sure know how to make a man feel welcome." Doc Ock said examining the tools and gear. "By the way, you haven't told me what I'm building yet."

"Something that will change reality as we know it." A male voice echoes.

Slowly walking in, we see a man with black hair and grey highlights, a wild black mustache, a green cloak with gold buttons over a black vest, a white undershirt, and black pants with a gold sash holding his sword. This was Ra's Al Ghul.

"Otto Octavius. I am so glad you said yes to my offer." Ra's greeted.

"The other option didn't appeal to me much. Doc Ock narrows his eyes. "What do you want?"

"Like I said to change reality. Make it the way it should be. And if you help me accomplish that goal I will make sure that everything you want is yours and all those who dared mock or try and get in your way will pay." Ra's Al Ghul declared.

"Well then, let's get to work, shall we?" Doc Ock said as both men grinned evilly.
