Percy's POV

I walked to my locker with my head down. When I finally reached my locker, I put away my books. I then, reluctantly went to the gymnasium.

Gym. I hate Gym more than anything else. Actually not more than my step-dad. But that's besides the point. We always play dodge ball, and I always lose. That's all thanks to Luke Castellan. Every single week, since freshmen year, Luke hits me with a dodge ball, and I have to sit out. I don't really mind sitting out, that's the best part of gym. Now the 'being hit with a dodge ball' part is not so fun.

I don't know what happened to Luke. We used to be best friends. When it came to Silena, he was always on my side. He never thought that I was a-

"Sorry." I looked up to see who I'd bumped into. Oh lovely, it's Chase.

"Watch it, Asshole." She growled.

"Well, someone's in a peppy mood." I said sarcastically.

"Did you not just hear me?" She narrowed her eyes at me. glaring up, grey on green. Her eyes were stormier than usual, as if I was looking through a window at a stormy sky, lighting flashing dangerously.

"Yeesh. Sorry." I kept walking, keeping my head down.

I finally made it to the boys' locker room, and, surprisingly, without harassment from the jocks. I quickly changed into my gym uniform and ran to catch up with everyone else.

"Alright, cupcakes!" Coach Hedge yelled. " As usual, we will be playing dodge-ball!" There was a collective gasp from some students, whilst the jocks smiled evilly." I will be choosing teams." Coach began calling out names. "Percy, blue team." I walked to the right side of the gym.

"Luke, red team." Yippee.

Everyone was sorted on each side of the gym. Luke smiled at me cruelly.
"Alright, and go!" Coach blew his whistle. And so my torment begins.

I was able to hide in the back for a good amount of time, before someone called my name. "Jackson! Get out there!"

Thanks Coach. I walked to the front. Luke seemed to perk up at the mention of me. He finally caught sight of me and smirked. Shit. He grabbed a ball that had just been thrown at him. He stood in the ready position to send this ball hurdling into my gut. I know what you're thinking Percy, just run. The ball won't hit you, Well, dear reader, I learned my lesson long ago that Luke would get me- whether it's dodge-ball or some other twisted idea of his. He will always find a way to get to me. Luke was seconds away from throwing this ball, before someone burst through the gym doors.

Everything and Everyone stopped, and turned to look who had come. I turned to find out who my savior was. But when I saw her, she was no savior of mine.

Lo and behold, Chase stood there, hair just as curly and frizzy as yesterday, hat still on her head, uniform on. Every pair of eyes was on her.

"Sorry I'm late." She just shrugged and walked over to Coach. Of course, she wasn't actually sorry. She didn't give a shit if she interrupted the end of the world. No one moved. "Chase! Glad you could join us. Red team." Oh great. Yet anther person to pummel me. She walked into the court and Coach blew his whistle. Luke got ready to throw the dodge-ball- straight at me. He held it far behind him, ready to launch. Suddenly, someone ran behind him, plucking the ball straight from his freakishly large hands. Luke turned to see his thief.

"What the hell?!" He yelled.

"Sorry-oh wait, no I'm not." Chase stood there, ball in hand, smiling at the enraged blonde. I was just thinking, wow. Chase can actually be useful, right until a ball came flying toward me.

Before I knew it, I was doubled over, clutching my stomach-which burned with pain, it flared throughout my abdomen. This was much more painful than any of Gabe's punches or any of Luke's throws. The wind was knocked out of me. I looked up to see Chase smirking at me. It was the one time that she had looked down on me-I was a few inches taller than her-I was kneeling on the floor, while she stood triumphantly, a few feet in front of me.

Then, I saw a ball heading straight for her face. Sweet revenge, I thought. But of course, she caught the ball with one hand, not even moving her gaze from me.

I was finally able to muster the strength and breath to get up and go sit on the bench. I watched as she continued to play, flawlessly dodging every ball that came her way. At the end of the game, she won-which was impressive because that means she beat Luke, and he always wins. Yeah, let's just say that he wasn't too happy about that. Especially because she beat his ass in the hall. I'm not going to lie-I give her respect for that. No one ever stands up to Luke, number one, and number two, he's a huge asshat to, like, everyone-especially me.

He hits on girls and calls them hot like they're pieces of meat. It's disgusting. Yes, I do think that girls are hot, but it's not like I go around talking about then like that. I'm a hormonal teenage boy, but I'm also respectful. He also teases and bullies anyone who's not on the same popular, dochebag level that he is, a.k.a, me.

Anyways, I have to figure out a way to get back at Chase.

And I have the perfect idea of how.

.

In my next class, I wrote a note on a piece of loose leaf.

Dear Chase,

I hope you realize what you've started.

By throwing that dodge ball, you declared war.

Though I must admit, you do have good aim.

Anyways, I will show no mercy in my pranks.

Be prepared.

-Jackson

I folded it up and held on to it. Suddenly class ended, and, as usual, I was the first one out the door. I ran to my locker and put my books away. Then I walked over to Chase's locker, which was conveniently just across the hall. I slipped the note into her locker and walked back to my own. As I gathered my things, I noticed Chase coming down the hallway. I packed my things a bit quicker, almost frantically. As you can imagine, that just took me longer, for I fumbled with each book as I put it in my book bag or locker.

Chase opened her locker and the note fluttered out. She picked it up and unfolded it. She read and was about to look up when I ran. I pulled up my and walked around the corner just in time.

I walked to the bathroom. I needed things to cool down before I saw Chase in detention. I hid in the bathroom for nearly 10 minutes before I decided it was time. I left the bathroom and walked to detention.

I kept my hood up as I walked into the classroom. I risked a glance and saw her. Of course, she sat in the back of the classroom, leaving me no way to completely hide myself. Thankfully, she didn't see me though. She seemed too infatuated with whatever sketch she was working on. I sat in a seat furthest from her; front row, all the way to the right( from Chase's point of view).

.

"You suck, Jackson." Chase threw down her board and rode off.

"Is this, like, a thing now?" I called to her.

She turned and looked back at me, smirking. She didn't say anything,

though. But she didn't need to; I could tell from the mischievous look on her face that she wasn't stopping any time soon.

I just shook my head and smirked. I put in my earbuds.

Oh when the girls

When the girls

When the girls talk boys

I turned to begin the walk home when I was suddenly yanked to the
side, my vision going black.
