There was a small village just before the castle. Sonic had been to that place before, where he saved the lives of many villagers. Like back then, he was expecting them to panic, if not more. A dark curse in the heavens overlapping the blue sky is a sight that made the knights of the Round Table see Merlina as a foe equal to them; Sonic couldn't image how villagers were feeling other than great fear.
But that wasn't the case. All the villagers were in their homes; they were more like sheltering themselves rather than hiding. One of the villagers, a young goblin, recognized Sonic and Caliburn and told them what was happening.
"The silver knight came to our village and used his magic to protect our village!" the Goblin exclaimed enthusiastically.
"The Silver Knight?" said Sonic in confusion.
"Silver Knight was Sir Galahad." Answered Caliburn.
"But from the way the knights spoke of him, I thought…"
"You are indeed right." Answered Caliburn to Sonic and asked to Goblin:
"Are you certain he was the Silver Knight? Have you seen him using magic or another power?"
"I saw him for sure! But I am not certain whether he used magic or something else, Sir Sword," answered the little Goblin.
"I see…" Caliburn has been lost to thought for a moment but then continued. "Let's keep on going, Sir Sonic."
"If you say so." Answered Sonic, saying his farewell to the little Goblin; he started running towards the palace where Merlina was. On the way, Sonic asked Caliburn:
"Why did you ask that little kid whether it was magic or another power? I am not sure the little one even knows the difference between those two things," Sonic said in a somewhat sarcastic tone.
"Sir Galahad couldn't use magic. There are no limits to what magic can do as long as its holder knows how to use it. Sir Galahad could only use his power to hold his opponents and use the items around his surroundings. And even then, that was for such a limited time despite how much he had practiced. That's what differentiates his powers from magic. Magic could be improved upon-"
"And so? We are in a hurry, you know!" interrupted Sonic.
"Merlina might have created an illusion of someone impersonating him. Through that person, she might be able to mark locations where villagers are, preventing them from being summed up by dark magic. Though the only way to know for certain is to fight this knight face to face."
After having this exchange, Caliburn remained silent until they reached the castle. Sonic hasn't said anything further as he was in no mood to get a lecture about the whole history of the Camelot. Right now, these lands were in danger, and because of that, the only thing he caredcared about right now was saving these lands.
Just a short time after leaving the village, Sonic and Caliburn finally reached the castle where Merlina was in. Just before they entered the castle, he felt his feet flowing from the ground and found himself tossed to the stone ground of [place name] with Caliburn.
"This aura… it can't be!" was Caliburn murmuring to himself.
"And now a knight of the underground can-" Sonic stopped talking as soon as he saw the shadowy figure rushing towards him. He could barely dodge him but still couldn't get himself on his feet.
"O the Slayer of our King, the person who is ruining my beloved land, get up and fight with me!" shouted the unknown figure. Finally, perhaps because he was out of patience, the unknown figure got a hold of Sonic with his power and forced Sonic to stand, leaving Sonic entirely out of breath.
Sonic was finally able to see the full figure of the knight he was fighting. Admittedly, his vision was blurry, but he was still able to get a general idea of the knight's appearance.
The knight was a white hedgehog, however unlike Sonic and Sir Lancelot, 5 leaf shaped spikes could have been seen on his head. He was adorned with a silver armor which had some teal and gold tinsels.
As Sonic was trying to still grasp the situation he was in, the knight smashed him to the ground and the Silver Knight started to attack Sonic by combining his telekinesis with his sword.
"Sonic!" Shouted Caliburn to Sonic. "This is the Silver Knight! Sir Galahad himself!"
"And so?!" yelled out Sonic as he was trying to block Galahad's sword. "Do you have any tactics as to how to beat him?!" continued Sonic was finally able to slash away the sword.
"He's the best knight these lands have seen and will ever see… Even where your strength is at right now, it may not be possible for us to beat him." declared Caliburn gloomily. This was the first time Sonic has ever seen Caliburn legitimately lost his hope because of a knight.
Not even giving time to answer Caliburn, Sonic has been directly attacked by Sir Galahad and finally came face to face with him.
"Don't you even dare to lay a finger on Merlina!" shouted the Silver Knight, who was pushing Sonic to his back. "I will defeat anyone who dares to forestall my lands from being saved!" He continued.
"Being saved?!" let it out Sonic as he was finally able to push back Sir Galahad. "Aren't you seeing what Merlina is doing to these lands right now?" he continued yelling.
Sir Galahad's answer was to attack Sonic with his sword from far range, more to shut him up rather than injure him.
At that moment, instinctively, Sonic dashed towards the first safe spot he could see, which happened to be right next to Galahad. Realizing that Galahad's side was unprotected, Sonic slashed him so hard that Sir Galahad was completely pushed away from Sonic, and he was barely able to keep his stance.
"You are well aware what Merlina doing is destroying these lands!" said Sonic as he charged towards Sir Galahad. Sir Galahad blocked Sonic's attack and yelled to Sonic's face:
"You don't know anything about what she's doing! Our kingdom's fate completely relies on that scabbard, and I won't let you take it away from her!" and threw Sonic away to the ground with his power.
"What do you mean by stealing the scabbard!? I was the one who brought her that scabbard!" explained Sonic as he rose from the ground.
"Do you think I am that naïve to believe such thing!" shouted back Sir Galahad.
"Sir Sonic is telling the truth!" said Caliburn, finally speaking since the battle has started.
"Who's speaking right now?!" Said Sir Galahad in confusion.
"It is I, the sacred sword Caliburn. The sword in the stone that chooses who will become the ruler of these lands."
"Th-that's impossible!" burst out Sir Galahad. "King Arthur himself couldn't pull that sword out, let alone a person like him can do that!"
"Hey!" Sonic let out a grunt. "Hasn't Merlina told you already that King Arthur was an illusion formed by his grandpa?" he continued.
"King Arthur was what?!" said Sir Galahad in shock, his eyes widened, and his stance was shaken to this revelation."
"So, she has in fact haven't told you," Sonic murmured to himself.
"Sir Galahad!" Caliburn shouted towards the Silver Knight to get his attention. "Think about other things Merlina might not have told you about.
You know better than us why she is doing this. But think about if what she is doing will save or destroy our lands!" he continued. "
After what Caliburn had said, Galahad looked at his behind, seeing that the bad aura caused by Merlina was somewhat blocked by the barriers generated by the four knights of the Round Table.
"Trust my words," Caliburn declared, and Galahad turned his face back towards them. "Knights of the Round Table are with us as well. As the sacred sword Caliburn, I guarantee you that Sir Sonic, the Knight of the Wind, has no ill intentions."
Sonic smiled and saluted the Silver Knight with his hand. He believed they had finally convinced Sir Galahad of Merlina's real intentions.
Sir Galahad closed his eyes, his face embodying his remorse, and said: "I am sorry, but I have to beat you to save the future!" he shouted as he pushed back Sonic with his powers and prepared his sword to attack Sonic.
"So, we have no choice but to fight him, huh?" Sonic said to Caliburn. Frustrated, he added, "He is just like the other knights of the Round Table."
"We have just opened a path to his heart," said Caliburn. "We just have to go through this path through this battle." He continued determinedly.
"We are going to see," Sonic answered Caliburn. With a determined face like Caliburn, he dashed towards Galahad to counter his attacks.
