The morning progresses as Jonah continues walking along that road in question. He encounters two people coming his way. As they get closer, he can make out that one of them is a brown-skinned girl with short silvery hair but is scantily clad and bare-footed.

Scandalous. Jonah thought with a wry expression.

As he closes the distance with them, they begin to stare back at him. That is when he notices that the other is also a girl with blonde hair and dressed more appropriately, but has two long things protruding from near the top of her head. At first he thought it was a hat.

But he notices that they are a part of her head, more accurately ears.

He stops and continues staring at those two girls, especially the one with the strange ears. Ears that he can now see are animal ears.

Is that the Scourge?! Jonah thought intently.

Those two girls are soon alongside him giving him wry looks.

"What's your problem, stranger?" The brown-skinned girl sneered.

"Can we help you with something or are you trying to pick us up?" The animal-earred girl asked suspiciously.

Jonah continues staring at them, especially the animal-earred girl, whose ears look just like rabbit ears.

"Come on, this guy's wierd," the dark-skinned girl said while tugging on her friend's shoulder.

"Wait!" Jonah called, causing them to give him pause.

"What?" the bunny-eared girl asked suspiciously.

"Are you ill?" Jonah asked.

The bunny-eared girl grimaces at him. "I feel just fine. Now what about you, stranger? Are you feeling okay?"

"Yeah, or do you make it a habit of leering at women?" The dark-skinned girl asked sarcastically.

"Ahh, I'm sorry," Jonah said, then turns and walks away.

Those girls stare after him while grimacing.

"What was his problem?" The Amazoness asked.

"Don't know, but he was kinda sexy," the Humebunny girl mused.

"You got a point there," the Amazoness said. "But look at that weapon on his back. I've never seen anything like it before."

"Yeah, that looks like it can kill no problem," the Humebunny girl agreed.

Jonah continues walking feeling embarrassed by that encounter.

That was not the Scourge or else she would've been attacking her friend then turn on me. He thought. That and she was pretty. Those afflicted with the Scourge end up losing whatever good looks they might have had. So what is going on? Not only that but that dark-skinned girl was only wearing underwear! Does she have no shame?!

The Moon-scented Hunter continues walking.

He encounters all sorts of people, and not all of them looking human. People who looked like children, but their manner and shape showed them to be adult, with their proportions showing that they were meant to be that small. People with pointed ears and an attractive appearance. People short and muscular, with men having thick brushy beards. Scantily clad dark-skinned women. And more people with animal ears and tails.

Inevitably he would stare at the various non-humans he came across, though he was quicker to stop doing that and continue on. But it did unnerve some of those people.

Definitely not the Scourge. Jonah thought.

Jonah continues walking, passing more people. That tower continues getting progressively larger to him as he gets closer.

It must be as tall as the tallest building in Yharnam. He thought. Judging by its size, its still far away. It might be midday by the time I get there.

True to Jonah's expectations, it is noon by the time he is able to see the high walls and that high tower within it as the now cobblestoned road leads up to its gates.

Finally. He thought. And I was right, there is a city. But first, I must have a little something to eat. I have only one left.

Jonah reaches into one of his coat pockets and takes out a ration. They are bars made up of grains, fruit, nuts, dried meat, and cheese that have been compressed together. While not the tastiest of foods, they do serve their purpose. Hunting throughout Yharnam and beyond meant no time for stopping to have a proper meal.

He next takes a drink of water from a canteen in his coat and is soon on his way up to the gates.

As he gets closer, a woman comes out of a room next to those gates and walks toward him while staring intently at him. She is tall and beautiful with longish blue hair, blue eyes, and wearing a long orange tunic with yellow straps and white lines, short sleeves but with bared shoulders, black leggings, black sleeves, white boots, and white gauntlets.

Is that woman a gate guard? He thought. I better make a good impression if she is.

They close the distance between themselves, showing that she is half a head shorter than him.

"Good day to you, madam, and how are you on this fine day?" Jonah said cordially.

"I feel good," the woman answered cordially yet with an air of authority. "How about you, sir?"

"I feel about as fine as I can feel, madam. My name is Jonah Theron."

"Pleased to meet you, Jonah Theron. My name is Shakti Varma."

"Well then, Miss Varma. Could you perhaps tell me the name of this place?"

Shakti is silent as she stares back up at him with a bemused expression.

What's this? Jonah thought. It's like she wasn't expecting me to say that.

"Is something wrong, Miss Varma? You can't speak its name?"

"Ummm . . . This is Orario."

"Orario?" Never heard of it.

"Yes. Um, what is your Familia?" Her question more inquisitive.

"Excuse me, my what?"

"Your Familia, Mister Theron."

"I apologize but I'm afraid I'm a little confused."

Shaki stares back up at him in silence for a moment.

"Come with me and I'll check out your Falna," she sighed while gesturing and turning.

Familia? Falna? Jonah thought in confusion as he follows Shakti. I guess it won't hurt to find out what she is talking about.

They enter one of the rooms that face across from each other on either side of that gate. Jonah had looked into the city to see that massive tower at the end of a long street, along with colorful buildings lining either side to it.

They enter a clerical room. Jonah stops to stand alongside a simple table and turns to face Shakti as she closes the door and next opens a cabinet door. She rummages in it for a moment, then removes a bottle of red liquid and closes the cabinet door.

"What is that?" Jonah asked as he briefly gestures at the bottle in question.

"It's a potion that will reveal your Falna to me," Shakti answered as she walks up to him. "Could you please strip down to your waist, Mister Theron."

Jonah pulls his head back while giving her a wry expression.

"It's okay," she assured. "I'm just going to slash a little bit of this onto your bare back and it will reveal your Falna to me."

"Oh, ahm, o-okay," Jonah mused as he starts the process of undressing by first removing his Saw Cleaver.

"That is a very . . . interesting weapon you have there, Mister Theron." As she grimaces at it.

"It's called a Saw Cleaver." He unfurls it, extending the blade without touching it. "It's great for killing monsters with."

Then furls it, folding the blade without touching it, and sets it down onto that table.

"I didn't think Hephaestus made such a weapon," Shakti said while continuing to grimace at it.

"Who?" Jonah asked, ignorant of that name as he takes off the belt sash. "This was made by the Workshop. Anyway," as he sets the belt sash onto the table, "let us continue with this."

He next removes his bracers, casually plucking them off since they are arcaned to remain sticking by his will just like the belt sash, then his gloves as they bloat to effortessly come off as those too are arcaned. He takes off his coat, revealing that the buckled garment is a waistcoat worn over a white long sleeved shirt. He removes his waistcoat to show that the turtleneck collar is seperate and removes that as well. Lastly is his shirt which he folds then places on the table.

The Good Hunter turns to stand erect before Shakti revealing his nearly hairless muscular heavily toned physique that was made such by the purchasing of stats using millions of blood echoes.

"Okay, just stand there," she next said as she pops the cork while walking past him.

Jonah feels a drop of cool liquid splash onto his back. There is a moment of silence as neither talk nor move.

"Okay, now I understand," Shakti finally said.

"What?" Jonah asked.

"You don't have a Falna."

Not knowing how to answer that, he instead turns to face Shakti while wincing down at her curiously as she lowers the now corked bottle while sighing in a manner that suggests her patience is being tested.

"Why didn't you say you didn't have one in the first place, Mister Theron? It's obvious you're not part of a Familia."

"Ah," Jonah began in uncertainty as he momentarily touches his forehead. "I believe there's been a misunderstanding here, Miss Varma. May I dress first, then we can get to the bottom of this."

Shakti gestures with a brief flick of her head and glance to his belongings, then returns to the cabinet to put the bottle away. There is silence as the Moon-scented Hunter dresses while Shakti simply stands there poker faced.

Soon, there is only the Saw Cleaver left as he picks it up.

"Now then," Jonah said as he returns it to his back. "Like I just said, I believe there's been a misunderstanding here. So how should we clear this up?"

"Do you have an occupation?" Shakti asked.

"Well, I am a Hunter."

"A hunter?" As she looks him over with a subtly bemused expression.

"Is something the matter, Miss Varma?"

"Well," as she continues to look him over curiously, "it's just that you don't look like you hunt wild animals in that outfit."

"I hunt monsters."

"If that's the case then how is it that you can hunt monsters without a Falna?"

"I don't know what else to tell you, Miss Varma." As Jonah shrugs while raising his hands."If I don't have one of these Falnas that you kept mentioning, then I don't."

Shakti stares back up at him in silence, then turns and walks over to the desk and sits at it. She takes out a piece of paper and picks up a pen.

She wants some information on me. Jonah thought.

"Jonah Theron," she carefully pronounced to him. "Is that correct?"

"Yes."

She writes it down.

"How old are you?" She next asked.

"Twenty-seven."

She writes that down.

"Where are you from?"

For a moment, Jonah is hesitant.

"Yharnam," he finally answered. "I came from a city called, Yharnam."

"Yharnam?" As Shakti looks up at him with a quizzical expression.

"Yes," Jonah verified.

"Never heard of it."

"It's far away from here, and I doubt anybody around here has ever heard it."

"Very well," she sighed as she looks back down to write it down.

"So what now, Miss Varma?"

"Give me a moment." As she continues writing some more.

Shakti next takes out another sheet of paper and places it down next to her own, then starts copying the information as the repeated subtle side-to-side movements of her head show. She gets up, walks over to one of the drawers, opens it, selects a folder, and puts the sheet of paper into it. She returns to the desk, picks up the other paper, and folds it.

"Take this," she said as she walks up to Jonah while holding that paper out for him to take, of which he does. "Now, you need to go to the Guild."

"The Guild?" Jonah inquired as he puts the paper into one of his inner coat pockets.

"They are an organization involved with the Dungeon and they might even be able to help you find a Familia in order to explore it."

"The Dungeon?"

"It's a place where monsters live."

"Monsters?! Is this city in danger?!"

"Don't worry," as Shakti assures him with raised hands, "the monsters cannot escape the Dungeon because the Tower of Babel prevents that, along with Ouranos' presence."

"Oh," he sighed, "well that's good to hear."

"Yes, adventurers even go down there on a daily basis to slay them."

"Ah, good then. So where is this Guild?"

"Follow me." As she starts walking while gesturing for him to follow. "First of all, do you know what a skybridge is, Mister Theron?"

"Yes, it's a bridge that extends above a street between two buildings. Yharnam had several such structures."

"Good. Now then," as she gestures to Orario's most prominant landmark, compelling Jonah to look, "go to the Tower of Babel and look for a street with a skybridge. Next to it is a building with tapestries hanging from it. That's the Guild. You got all that?"

"Tower of Babel, an avenue with a skybridge, and a building with tapestries hanging from it," Jonah verified.

"Yeah, something like that," Shakti answered with a subtle smile.

"Thank you, Miss Varma. Is there anything else?"

"No, you may go." As she gestures him along.

Jonah turns and enters the city of Orario. His Insight shows him a pair of eyes, but only for an instance, and he remains casual. An easy thing to do since during his hunts throughout Yharnam he always felt someone was watching him. But as his Insight grew, however, those watchers were eventually revealed to him.

Who was that?! He still thought.

NOTE:

Due to the mystical nature of Bloodborne, it should only make sense that various articles of Jonah's clothing and even his weapons should be enchanted (arcane is a better word since it has a Gothic Victorian sound to it).
