Time for a brand new chapter of Rhonda's Beau 2! Let's see how Arnold and Rhonda are doing, shall we? Anyway, enjoy!
For Arnold and Rhonda, school had came and went, though for Rhonda's case, she was glad that school was about to be over soon. If anything, it meant that she and Arnold could hang out together, as they always did since their relationship had officially went public. On the one hand, it took a little adjusting because of the slight teasing from their other classmates, but on the other hand, there were their friends who came to respect the two and their relationship for the most part. Even the one who wasn't sure of their relationship at first, Helga, was learning to tolerate it. Yes, it did take Curly exposing her love for Arnold, and it did take Helga to realize that she didn't want to be like Curly, but it was worth it to earn Helga's friendship in the very least.
Still, the bell had finally rung and it was time for all the students to leave as most of them were gathering around, and going their separate ways with a group, some talking in excitement about mundane things like a baseball game or a new menu item in Slausen's (Sid, Harold and Stinky), or just want to have a fun time catching bugs (which was Nadine's idea of fun). As for Arnold and Rhonda, the two of them were walking out of the school, and once they were about a few feet away from the school, Arnold couldn't help but put his arm around his girlfriend, causing Rhonda to give a yelp, before laughing.
"Somebody's a little handsy after school." Rhonda giggled.
"Don't get me wrong, I do focus in school, but I feel like it can be hours of torture!" Arnold groaned.
"Poor sweetie." Rhonda smirked before leaning over and kissing Arnold on the lips. "Don't worry, I was hoping for a little fun time as well."
"Oh, you!" Arnold rolled his eyes, before smirking as he playfully used his hand to push her away.
Rhonda laughed a bit before grabbing her boyfriend's hand as they continued to walk together. "Well, it's a Thursday afternoon, we don't have a lot of homework to catch up on, so we're pretty much free to do whatever we want! So, what do you have in mind?"
The football headed boy paused briefly as he started to think. "Hmmmm..." After a moment, he noticed the two were walking towards the movie theater as his eyes lit up. "Are you up for a movie?"
Rhonda gave a big smile as she noticed the movie theater coming up. "Ohhhhh! That sounds like a great time! I wonder what's out?"
It took a while for the two kids to look over the movie posters until Rhonda paused as she noticed a poster of interest. "Hey, buddy! Look at this!"
Arnold quickly joined back with Rhonda as they were now looking at the movie poster in front of them. Pictured on that poster was a family exploring around in some sort of jungle, with the words 'Explorers of the Wild', with the tagline, "Family-friendly fun for the ages". Rhonda smirked as she turned towards her boyfriend. "Sounds like your type of movie."
Arnold gave a small smile to himself. "Yeah, I guess it does... so are you interested in seeing this?"
"Uh... yes! Yes, I totally am!" Rhonda smiled as she put her arms around her boyfriend. "Besides, we can always catch the sappy romance films on a later date. I'm in the mood for a little family-friendly adventure."
Arnold laughed a bit as he looked at her with ease. "I didn't think jungle adventures caught your interest."
"Well, I mean, even though my family and I take vacations, we don't usually do a lot of safari work." Rhonda explained as she and Arnold approached the ticket counter. "Although, I wouldn't mind going on a little safari adventure, if only to experience it once."
Arnold chuckled as he turned to the ticket counter. "Two for the 4 PM showing for Explorers of the Wild."
The ticket seller nodded as he rang up the two kids as Arnold paid full price for the tickets, exchanging the money real quick. "Enjoy the show!"
Arnold gave an affirmative, thankful nod before the two headed inside. As they did, Rhonda turned to Arnold with a smile. "Well, you bought the tickets, so it's only fair I pay for the snacks."
"On your allowance? Heaven forbid." Arnold teased a bit.
"Hey, I may be from a rich family, but I have a lot of money to spend." Rhonda smirked before approaching the snack stand. "One large popcorn to share... and two medium Yahoos."
"Yes, ma'am!" The concession man said as he pulled out a bucket and started filling up the popcorn. "Would you like some extra butter on your popcorn?"
"The more butter, the merrier, so yes!" Rhonda nodded swiftly before turning to Arnold. "That way, we can get the best taste."
Arnold rolled his eyes before smiling. "Whatever you say."
After settling down in their seats and watching all the promos of the movie, the movie finally started as the two kids were watching it rather intently. As they munched on their popcorn as quietly as they could, both were giving their attention towards the movie, unaware that their butter-covered hands had touched each other's for a mere moment while trying to get a handful.
They looked towards each other, just for a mere moment, before giving each other smiles. Rhonda grinned nervously as she whispered, "Butterfingers, am I right?"
"Who's complaining?" Arnold said as he gave off a small smirk.
Rhonda did her best not to giggle loudly, before turning back towards the screen, still holding the boy's hand. Rhonda kept an eye as the family was now traveling through the jungle as they were trying to get past some traps.
"Be careful, son. Just one wrong move, and forget about being a master treasure hunter. You'll be a master shishkabob." The father said.
"I'll be careful..." The son nodded before turning back towards the trap laden room on the screen. The boy gave an audible gulp as he went towards the nearest walls and slowly pressed himself against it as he slithered himself past it.
Rhonda couldn't help but give a slight chuckle. "Too bad nothing like this would work out in real life, huh Arnold?"
Rhonda paused slightly as she received no response. "Uh, Arnold?"
She turned her head as she noticed Arnold's sullen looking face. Recognizing it as his 'getting depressed' face, Rhonda looked concerned as she quickly leaned over her seat and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. That small kiss snapped Arnold out of his stupor as he looked around frantically.
"H-huh?" Arnold said before looking towards the rich girl, noticing a rather worried look on her face. Arnold blushed in embarrassment before giving a sigh. "Sorry. It's just whenever I see movies with jungles and families, I can't help but think of-"
Rhonda shushed the boy as she held his hand, giving him a warm smile. "Try not to think about it, okay? We can talk about it later after we get home."
Arnold opened his mouth to argue, only to let Rhonda's words slowly sink in. After a moment, his muscles relaxed a bit before gripping Rhonda's hand, never letting go. And although his attention went back to the movie, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of sadness within. Sure, he had an awesome girlfriend that always cheered him up, and yes, she was making his life a lot easier than done... but even then, there was still one thing that even he couldn't get out of his mind, and watching this jungle family movie reminded him of the one thing he didn't have... he knew what happened to his parents when they were young thanks to Grandpa's stories, but nothing that came of note... he looked down and gave a sigh.
Little did he or Rhonda realize was that, at this very moment, Rhonda's parents were about to find answers... answers that might potentially change Arnold's life around for the better!
That's this chapter done! How did you guys like it? Next time, we'll be returning to Rhonda's parents back in San Lorenzo as they get a vital clue! All the while, Rhonda is going to cheer Arnold up in the best way possible! How? You'll see! Anyway, read, review, criticize and suggest, everyone!
