Harry James Potter
Ginny Weasley stood at the door to Hogwarts Hospital wing holding a little girl's hand.
Harry looked at his ex wife and stiffened. Even after knowing her for so long, he still didn't know how to predict her reactions. May be that was one of the reasons why he and Draco were much more suited to be together. It was just simple with them, like fluency of a running river. He never had to wonder, he just knew with Draco. Then again hisobsession with his husband had been since their early school days. He had started noticing Ginny much much later, and she was the mother of his children now. They were forever tied to one another through their children.
For their daughter though, Harry thought, it could go any which way, depending on Ginny's reaction. Ginny was unpredictable and volatile most times, and at others she could curl up and disappear for days. Only her current husband had been able to understand or keep up with her moods. Blaise was a dynamic and lively man, who Harry had grown to respect over time and even call him one of his close friends. Blaise was able to not only take all of Ginny in stride, but he had been exceptional at winning the hearts of his kids, and the extended Weasley clan. He had fit into the family so well that Harry had been befuddled, as the same wasn't true for Draco. Draco had to work for it, and it had taken years for him to blend in with the Weasleys. Noting the bitterness of his thoughts, Harry, realised that it was wrong of him to compare Draco to Blaise, Draco had been there, cooking dinner, wiping noses and herding all five children, while Ginny was sick and Blaise wasn't even in their lives then. The times were different when Blaise had arrived in their lives, whereas, Draco was just there, and he was part of his kids lives, from the very start.
He stood up to vacate the chair. Ginny ran towards them and sat on the bed beside Lily. Her eyes stormy with worry. She held Lily's face in her palms.
"Oh Lily. How are you. Are you okay?"
Lily held on to her Mother's wrists. "I am fine, mom. As much as I could be."
"Oh baby." She hugged their daughter. "It will be all okay soon. We are here for you."
Hearing those words Harry let out the breath he had been holding. It was only then that he realised that he had zoomed on to Ginny's reaction so keenly that he had failed to notice that someone was pulling onto his hand and speaking to him.
"Uncle Harry. Uncle Harry. Are you listening?" Ginny and Blaise's 5 year old daughter, little Islet, asked Harry as he looked down at her. He smiled and picked her up in his arms.
"Look at you. How much have you grown since I last saw you? What have you been eating, young lady?"
"Uncle Harry!" She huffed dramatically. "You saw me 4 days ago. I didn't grow at all in that time."
Harry squinted his eyes at her face, making the show of being confused at what he was seeing, "Oh I don't know. You look different. Are you sure you didn't grow?"
"I promise. I didn't." the little girl told him with a very serious expression on her face.
"Good then, because I always want you to stay this little. So that I can pick you up like this and…", then Harry held on to her stomach and flipped her around over his other arm. "Do this!" The girl screamed with glee And held on to his neck when he held her back into his arms. They laughed together as the little girl asked for another flip.
When he looked at the bed, Ginny's eyes were worried but her lips held a small smile. Lily was smiling her first smile of the day. The sight of his daughter's smile warmed his heart. He wished Lily would have stayed as little as the girl in his arms. May be then he would have been able to shelter her from the
"Mr. Potter. No ruckus. This is a hospital wing.", Madam Bones warned him, as she brought him out of his pity party with a stern voice.
"Sorry Susan.", He told the mediwitch who had replaced Madam Pomfrey and seemed to have learnt all her tricks to control rambunctious children, "It's been a while I saw this little bug." He said tugging at pigtail of the girl in his arms."
"Four days!" exclaimed Islet, "Daddy says a while is more than months. I don't remember how many he said it was though." She pouted as she failed to remember the exact details. Harry grinned even wider, imagining if he would be able to teach such things to the new baby, since he had been too busy to do these things when his three children were of her age. He wondered if Draco would try to fight him on the teaching rights.
Islet then decided she was done with him and wiggled to be let out of his grip. When he let her down she ran towards the bed and climbed over her mother's lap and into Lily's arms. She wrapped her arms around Lily's neck so tightly, he was sure the girl might do some damage.
"Oh Lily! I missed you so much. You don't know what happened to me. I had no one!" The dramatic girl let go and held Lily's face like their mother had a few minutes ago. "I had no one to tell about how horrible my new school is. They made me write so much and then made me come home and write some more. When I told mommy and daddy that I didn't wanna go back, they said I have to still. It was so hard." She then plopped on the bed in front of Lily. And started chattering on about everything and nothing.
"Wow. That's pure Slytherin. Oh so theatrical." Harry didn't know when Scorpius had come to stand beside him, as he reviewed little Islet's performance. Surely it had been when little five year old had been putting on her show.
Ginny stood up from her place by Lily and came to stand near them. She put a hand on Scorpius's shoulder as she faced him.
"How are you Scorpius?" She asked with genuine concern in her voice.
"We are fine, Miss Weasley." He told her with a grin. Harry did not miss the 'we' in his statement. His heart swelled with pride and joy that he had helped to raise such a responsible and kind hearted young man.
Still Harry was quite sure the boy had a thing for Redheads, knowing his tiny little crush on Ginny, when he had been a little boy.
"Cheeky little boy." Ginny ofcourse shamelessly flirted back, as she patted his cheek.
"But That's not what I asked. I asked if you were okay." She stressed.
Scorpius's grin dropped and he looked down at the floor. A moment later he looked up at Harry and then Ginny.
"I will take care of them both. I will be fine as long as they both are." He said.
It seemed like the boy had drawn all the power from every fibre of his being that he could muster into his promise.
Ginny didn't ask him again.
Scorpius was looking at Lily now. As he watched her have a chat with little Islet.
Harry laid his hand on Ginny's shoulder. "Come on. Let's fill you up with new details that has come to light since I last spoke with you."
Harry said drawing her towards Madam Bones' office, across the room.
...
Lily Luna Potter
Lily wasn't ready to face her mother. Which was quiet baffling, as her mother would be the only person who can and will understand her situation. Comfort of her mother should be the first thing she should look for now.
She wondered why she didn't feel like it then.
She looked to her dad. He was talking to her mother in hushed tones while Draco had gone to the Headmistress's office.
It was because of them. Him and Draco, who had been a permanent fixture in her life. Before Hogwarts, she and her brothers lived with her dad. Draco and Scorpius had been as much a family to her, as were the Weasleys.
Her mother wasn't a bad person per se, but she had been a fleeting parental figure. Lily couldn't find it in herself to blame her though, she had her own issues to deal with. They all understood that. Her mother had suffered through mental issues due to her own trials from her own first year at Hogwarts, which had resurfaced when Scorpius's mother had died. They were best of friends, Lily remembered. Her mother just wasn't the same after that. She couldn't concentrate and had to leave her professional Quidditch career behind. After that for years Ginny had gone through series of therapies and therapists, for her crippling depression and anxiety.
That was until an older witch named Synthia Zabini had found her mother. A seer and a mind healer who ran her own meditational healing reserve. The only place where her mother had finally found some peace. After which her mother had changed for better. Back to her old self, according to her Weasley side of the family. That's where she had met her current Husband, Synthia's Son, Blaise. If not all, Lily will give most of the credit to Blaise for bringing her mother back.
Even after that, Lily and her brothers lived at Potter manor with their father. With regular visits with their mother, and her new family.
Therefore it made sense to her now, why seeing her mother made her stomach sink.
Until her mother had showed up, she could have pretended that they were in Potter Manor. Just her father, Draco and Scorpius with her. Like a warm cocoon of family and familiarity. She could have ignored their new reality for a while. She could have felt at home with just the three of them.
Now though, the sight of her mother was like splash of cold water to her face.
Before she knew it, her eyes had started to water again.
"Lily?" She felt a tiny hand clamping onto hers.
Her Five year old sister sat cross legged in-front of her, on the hospital bed brought her out of her thoughts, her tiny little face scrunching up in concern. Scorpius was sitting behind Islet cross legged too. They have been playing with her as her parents talked on the other side of the room.
"Lettie?" She replied, she managed a smile for the little girl.
"Are you sad because you got into trouble?" She asked her older half-sister.
"Why would you think I am in trouble, little Lettie?"
The little girl adorably chewed on her lip, clearly worried if she would get in trouble for tattling.
"Mommy told daddy that you were peglant. And something about Scorp being the dad. And dad then said that there was gonna be a storm."
Then she leaned to whispered for just her and Scorpius to hear.
"Did you and Scorp steal a baby for Scorp to be a dad?" The little girl asked with all the innocence of a 5 year old.
Lily's eyes widened and her eyes met Scorpius's, there was mirth in his eyes as his lips held a smirk. She could tell he was holding in the laughter behind his smirk.
Lily couldn't help it though. She laughed. She laughed so loud, so loud, she was sure even people out of the huge hospital wing can hear her.
Listening to her laugh, the little girl started giggling as well, surely not knowing what was funny but was throughly tickled anyway. Seeing the both of them laugh, Scorpius's smirk broke in guffaws of laughter too.
She looked at her parents across the room, they had a small smile on their faces; as they watched them. Flipping her eyes back to her other bed mates, she saw Scorpius holding Little Islet around her shoulders and tickling her ribs with another hand. Them playing together was such a familiar sight to Lily, that it was a surprised her how much the scene in front of her pulled at her heart strings suddenly. A pleasant thought came to her mind, And she decided, if she gets to see Scorpius interact with a child as he or she grows up like this, then she was looking forward to it.
A sudden image of a grey eyed little boy came in front of Lily's eyes. A mature looking Scorpius held his hand as he led him towards her. Scorpius was smiling as they both walked towards her.
Back to hospital wing, Scorpius's stormy grey eyes found hers, his eyes still twinkling with laughter. Little Islet sitting on his lap, tucked under his arm. He smiled and extended his hand to her, which she took.
"Did you see that too?" He asked her with a wonder struck expression on his face.
"You mean the vision?" She asked him, baffled.
He nodded, and Islet spoke up, "What? What did you see? Something nice?." She looked around over Scorpius's shoulder to see if she was missing something interesting in the rest of the room.
"I did." She smiled at him.
"What?" Islet said again, now pouting for being left out.
Scorpius ruffled her hair and looked at Lily, "I worry though. A little girl like this mischievous kitten, it's a scary thought."
Islet jumped out of his arms, clearly frustrated with not being a part of their conversation, and ran to towards her mother.
Scorpius let her and scooted closer to Lily, her hand still firmly in his. Their eyes held with a sense of inevitability.
"But if we get to have such little moments of laughter for the rest of our life, then I think it will be worth it."
Lily's heart took a flip. It was the exact sentiment she had felt a minute ago.
Then his earlier words registered in her conscious.
"What do you mean a little girl?"
He looked at her confused. "You said you saw the vision too, didn't you? You with a little blonde girl in your arms."
Lily opened her mouth but nothing came out. As she put two and two together, her head did a spin. "Scorp..." she whispered.
He looked worriedly at her. "What is it?"
"I think we are gonna have twins." She said.
His eyes widened as his mouth dropped open. "I saw a grey eyed boy holding your hand. He looked just like you."
...
Both of them were still open mouthed and wide eyed, when Draco returned to the room and stood next to them.
"Are you both okay?" He asked them.
They both wipped their heads to look at him.
"Ofcourse." Scorpius answered, his eyes still dazed with the revelation.
"Really? Because you both looked like you two got a revelation. Like of the secrets of the universe. Which knowing the both of you, doesn't seem so far fetched." Draco asked them with narrowed eyes, not realising how close he was to the actual truth of the situation.
They both were saved from answering when Islet again ran towards them again.
"Uncle Draco!" She flew into Draco's arms as he picked her up.
"Hey, Islet. How are you, you littlest Weasley?"
"Great." She answered him enthusiastically. "Look I am at Hogwarts. Mommy said she will tell James to show me around. It will keep him from flipping out on us."
Their earlier revelations forgotten, Scorpius and Lily now broke out into new fits of laughter. Draco looked amused at the little girl.
This time Harry and Ginny joined them.
"You little Tattle-tale. Didn't your father talk to you about being a busy body?" Ginny scolded her daughter. Harry was covering his mouth with his fingers, clearly trying not to show his amusement.
"Daddy said Slytherins trade information, and that's how they are powerful. "
She told her mother with a proud smile that she remembered all the big words her dad had said to her.
Then her smile turned a pout, "He said Not to tell you about it though."
She turned to Draco clearly trying to wiggle her way out of trouble,
"Uncle Draco knows about it, mommy. Daddy said it was a Slytherin secret. Uncle Draco was also one."
She told her mother, holding on her godfather's shoulders like presenting a sacrificial goat to a monarch.
Her mother huffed in annoyance, "Well you are not a Slytherin, so no, it doesn't justify your gossiping."
"I am not? Are you sure? Because daddy says I belong in Slytherin. Daddy doesn't lie to me." She asked her mother with a tiny frown on her face.
"Your father ..." Ginny started to say but gave up. "We will talk when we get home."
Then she turned to Lily. "How are you feeling, Baby?"
"I am fine, mom. It was a shock but I think we will be fine." Her hand squeezing Scorpius's.
"Why don't we give you both some alone time to talk. We will go give Islet her tour then." Her Father said.
He looked at her, signifying their earlier conversation as a reminder.
...
As all of them left them alone, Scorpius drew the privacy curtains around Lily's bed. Lily unfolded the blankets provided by the hospital and laid them around herself as she sat against the wall by the back of the bed. She watched as Scorpius removed his shoes and his tie, and put them near Lily's things. It felt awfully intimate, as she watched him get comfortable in their now private space. He came and sat beside her on the bed, putting his feet up. He leaned against the wall and drew her in with his arm around her shoulders. She didn't object or say anything. It all seemed surreal now, when they had sat like this together sharing stories, laughter and secrets for years now. I shouldn't feel anything other than ordinary, yet it did. She felt like she was in a bizarre dream where she knows everyone in it yet it's not the same world that she lived in. Like she will wake up in her dorm room and laugh at the silly dream she was having.
She leaned into Scorpius's warmth, his closeness somehow soothing the ache in her being, that she didn't know she had. Like an ache that you only know you had when it's gone. She felt his hand on her ribs draw her into him more, as she went willingly.
They were silent for a few minutes. Just soaking in the events of the day when he spoke up.
"What do you say we keep our twins vision to ourselves for a while?"
Lily smiled as she looked up at him.
"When you didn't tell Draco about it, I knew you were upto something. I thought about how many months of fun we will have seeing our family argue and bet on whether we will have a boy or a girl."
Scorpius laughed silently, she could feel the vibrations of it on her back. A wave of warmth spread over her body. She felt like being tickled all over her person.
"And our fathers planning a truce on which one will name the kid depending on if it's a boy or a girl." He said.
"It's not fair though." She told him as she pulled away to look at him, "Why do both of them have to take on after you. I am the one who got pregnant." She pouted at him.
Scorpius laughed at her expression, "Well, there are a hundred Potters and a million Weasleys, I think it was high time that our kids are making up for the Malfoys."
Lily felt her cheeks warm, and she leant back in her previous position which gained her his warmth again but hid her face from.
"It's weird, you saying our kids." She murmured to him. He didn't respond to that. They sat quietly lost in their thoughts for a while until she felt him then moved a little,
"I think you should lay down and rest now."
Lily's didn't know why but she didn't wanna be away from his warmth.
"You are leaving?" She asked with a small voice.
"No. I was thinking of taking a nap here. Somehow being near you keeps my panic at bay."
She looked at him. Scorpius wasn't the guy to go around sharing feelings. It surprised her and scared her. Is there something more going than he is letting on?
"You telling me what you feel, scares me a little." She told him honestly.
"I thought if I was honest with you, you will feel secure enough to be honest with me. I think that's the best strategy we can adopt right now."
His stormy grey eyes so serious she wanted to hold him close and soothe his worries. Which she could at the moment, so she ran her palm over his heart. His eyes falling to her hand as she moved it over his chest. She watched him close his eyes as he dropped his head.
"I always feel secure with you." She snuggled closer to him and laid her head in his shoulder. Her hand still at its soothing motion on his chest, "I don't think I would be as okay so soon with this situation if it wasn't with you."
He kissed her hair and laid a hand on her stomach.
"Day 1." He said.
