On the streets of Orlando lived a 32 year old man who just recently lost everything with the death of his family. His name was Peter Harrington and through his eyes the world was a cold and unforgiving place where he was not wanted by anyone. Currently he was living on the streets with nowhere to go and nothing but the tattered remains of the clothes on his back.
"Damn it, I wish I was some young woman, maybe then someone would give a damn about me," Peter said, feeling dejected as always. He decided to keep walking since staying in one spot would attract the police who would not be so kind to him since he is a full grown adult. Unfortunately for him as he was crossing the street a man in his early forties who was drunk hit him with his Kia Sol. By the time the medics arrived Peter was dead.
Sometime later Peter regained consciousness but this time he noticed he was not in Orlando anymore but instead some kind of flower garden.
"Good, you're awake," A female voice said.
"Where am I?" Peter asked before directing his attention to the source of the voice which was a woman with long golden hair wearing a white greek dress and long gloves to match.
"You're in my domain, you died in a car accident," the woman said.
"I'm dead? So this is?" Peter said before the woman stopped him there.
"Not quite, this is the god realm, this is where the souls of those who die go before their fates are decided, "The woman said before introducing herself. "I'm Xoslene, the goddess of reincarnation and you Peter are about to receive a very special opportunity.
"Wait, how do you know my name?" Peter asked.
"I'm a goddess, I know all. like for example you love to crossdress and wish you were born female," Xoslene said which really took him by surprise since he did not tell that to anyone.
"Ok you convinced me," Peter said.
"Now back to what I was saying, I'm going to reincarnate you in a new world with a new body," Xoslene said. "Normally when someone dies they either go to heaven or hell, but you have been selected for a special role.
"What kind of role?" Peter asked.
"I chose you to be the hero who saves my world from the demon lord that plagues it," Xoslene said.
"Wait, slow down, there is nothing special about me, I have no special powers or abilities," Peter said.
"Not yet but before we get into that let's work on your new body," Xoslene said.
"Can I change my gender since this is a new body?" Peter asked.
"I'm afraid I cannot allow that since the hero is always a man," Xoslene said to Peter's disappointment since he hated his gender so much. "However there is something about the world I'm sending you to that you might find interesting.
"What could be better if I can't shed this masculine prison?" Peter asked.
"The world of Fenos is full of magic, maybe you will find a spell or something that will give you what you seek," Xoslene said before continuing. "Now I know you don't want huge muscles so I'm just going to give you a slim build. An image of Peter's old body appeared but this time with a slimmer build that looked more healthy than his old body. "Which race do you want to be?
"Race?" Peter asked.
"Aside from humans, the other sentient races are elves, dwarves, and various species of beast people," Xoslene said. Peter looked through the options and saw one that really spoke to him.
"I chose beast person and for species i pick fox," Peter said.
"Good choice, I always loved the fennecs," Xoslene said as she added the touches which caused the body to sprout fox ears and a tail. "Now let's work on your stats and abilities. Xoslene suddenly caused a bunch of cards to appear. Each card was an illustration of a spell or skill with detailed descriptions of what each one does. Unfortunately there was not a single one that could give Peter what he wanted. However there were a few that did draw his attention.
"Let's see, hypermind, Allows the user to absorb knowledge at an accelerated rate," Peter said, thinking he could use it to learn more advanced spells faster than normal. He picked it and continued looking through the cards. The next one that drew his attention was creation which allowed him to create objects by thinking of them.
"Both good choices but I recommend picking something more attack based since you will be fighting a lot, For a fennec i would recommend this one, "Xoslene said before directing his attention to what looked like a lightning type attack spell.
"Lightning shot?" Peter asked.
"It's a basic level attack spell, it should start you off until you learn stronger spells in Fenos, "Xoslene said before letting him get back to selecting his skills. He had two slots left for skills so he needed to choose wisely. The next skill that drew his attention was infinite storage which was a skill that gave him a limitless item box which was his own personal storage dimension. After accepting it Xoslene decided to remove everything that was lower than S-class since the skills he picked were all A-class and below.
"Sorry but as the hero you are going to need at least one S-class skill to aid you, and no none of them will make you a woman," Xoslene said knowing he was gonna ask. He looked through them all until one drew his attention and hers too. "Good eye, that is called Elemental Mastery which allows you to master all elemental magic.
"Is it really that good?" Peter asked.
"More than you know, normal people can only use one type of element but with this skill you can use all elements," Xoslene said which convinced him to take it. "Now before I send you on your way there is a few things you need to know, First in addition to the skills you chose, I am also giving you the ability to heal faster than normal and a magic level of 1000.
"1000? Is that high?" Peter asked.
"For a start it is, most people start with a magic level of 100 but for the hero i'm giving you ten times the amount," Xoslene said.
"Cool," Peter said.
"Second, while your memories of your old life will be in tact any memory of our meeting will be forgotten," Xoslene said before continuing. "And lastly, be careful because there are people in Fenos who view beast people as lesser beings.
"I will," Peter said. Suddenly Xoslene shoved Peter into the new body which absorbed him into it. She then teleported the body to Fenos.
"May your new life bring you joy," Xoslene said.
Sometime later he opened his eyes and found himself on the outskirts of a village. He saw his reflection in the nearby lake which revealed he was now a kid who looked no older than twelve. Suddenly a fennec girl ran towards him.
"There you are, Akino," The girl said.
"Akino?" he asked himself.
"Come on, everyone is waiting," the girl said.
"Slow down, who are you?" Akino asked.
"Did you hit your head? It's me, Junko," The girl said. The two of them returned to the village which was full of other fennecs which looked peaceful and a lot like one from Japanese history. A few days went by and within that time Peter learned that his new name was Akino Kobayashi and he was destined for big things since the day he was born. Later that night a raid was happening and the humans were kidnapping many young female fennecs.
"These cuties will make great slaves," one of them said before throwing Junko into a cage. This infuriated Akino which caused him to try and fight them only for them to thrash him good.
"Now stay down you brat," The leader said before he and his men took off with the girls they kidnapped.
"Hey you ok Akino?" His father asked.
"No dad, I'm upset because those thugs took Junko from us," Akino said.
"I know but what can you do about it?" His mom asked.
"I'm going to head out, kill those pigs and save all the girls they kidnapped, including Junko," Akino said with new resolve.
"Don't be so reckless, you lost to them so easily and if you go now you will most certainly die," His dad said.
"Well staying here doing nothing won't help either," Akino said.
"Fine, if you insist on going out there, then you will need proper gear," His dad said before giving him a sword and some armor. Before he could leave his mom gave him a backpack.
"This should get you through a few meals," His mom said.
"Ok i'm off now," Akino said as he set off. As soon as he reached the forest a bunch of monsters attacked him. He fended them off with lightning shot but they kept coming. Suddenly a blur passed by him and cut up the monsters almost instantly. The blur soon revealed itself to be another beast person but this one was a wolf girl with black hair with matching wolf ears and a tail.
"You ok?" the wolf girl asked.
"I had them," Akino said.
"Funny because your lightning shots were not doing nearly enough damage to them and your swing needs some work," the wolf girl said. "But where are my manners? I'm Roxy.
"Akino," Akino said.
"So Akino, what's a Fennec like yourself doing all the way out here?" Roxy asked.
"I'm on a mission to save the girls from my village who were kidnapped," Akino said.
"Funny because I'm doing the same but for the Lycan girls that were abducted," Roxy said.
"Looks like we have a common enemy," Akino said.
"Agreed, we should team up," Roxy said. The two of them decided to do so and continued on the road. They soon reached another village that was occupied by humans. Akino was expecting to be hated but these humans were quite friendly to them. They decided to rest up for the night. The two began talking some more. Roxy noticed that Akino was doing something with the armor he had. "Hey Akino? What are you doing?
"Modifying the armor my dad gave me, it's too heavy for me," Akino said before changing its shape to what looked like the kind of armor female adventurers wear.
"You do know that kind of armor is for women right?" Roxy asked.
"I meant to do that, while we are still up can I share something personal with you?" Akino asked.
"Sure, "Roxy said.
"I don't really like men's clothes and armor at all, and one day I hope to change my gender," Akino said.
"Is that so, well first off you're going to want to focus on improving your fighting ability since those scumbags we are after are most likely heading for Fonstat which is the royal capital and where they will most likely sell the girls they kidnapped, "Roxy said.
"And how far is the capital?" Akino asked.
"On foot it takes about a month from our current position," Roxy said. The two went to sleep.
Meanwhile, with the bandits that abducted Junko and the others, they were camping in the middle of what looked like a barren desert.
"How much longer until we reach the capital boss?" one of the bandits asked.
"About a few weeks from here but first we are going to Nekotama to collect some Nekomata girls for our inventory, "the boss said.
"But don't we have to drop off these girls first?" the second bandit asked.
"We will be meeting with our contact near the border of the desert to deliver them," The boss said. Junko heard everything and was really afraid.
"Akino, where are you?" Junko said.
