Chapter 5: Loona's Nightmare

Hell was not considered to be pleasant by those who resided in the mortal realm of Earth and Heaven, and even many in Hell considered their home to be a rotten dump to live in, especially sinners who were sent there for the misdeeds they committed in their previous lives.

For those born in Hell, though many agreed with sinners, there were those in the fiery land who made the most of what they had and brought joy to themselves and those around them.

Inside a hound park where hellhounds, young and old, walked or ran around enjoying the comforts of Hell, a young couple was sitting on a bench as they watched their only child playing with pups on the playground.

Her name was Loona, and she was named after the moon and connected to the Eclipse family name theme. She was bright, loving, and full of energy. From the day she was born, she brought happiness to Hell itself. Her parents had loved from the moment they found out they were expecting, and that love had only continued to increase from the moment she was born to spending hours upon hours with their bright little joy hound.

Eventually, after a bit of playing, the other parents of the children Loona had been playing with called them back over to them and started leaving. As such, Loona's parents, Siri and Nova, howled at their daughter.

"Loona dear, time to go."

"Okay, Mommy. Okay, daddy," the four-year-old hound called back, jumping off the swing and running towards her parents. When she reached them, Siri picked her up and spun her around, causing Loona to cheer.

Suddenly, Loona got this awkward scent from her parents, further shown by their nervous looks and how Loona's mother fidgeted with her fingers.

"Mommy, daddy, what's wrong?" she asked.

The couple looked at one another before Nova spoke up. "Loona dear, you know how much me and your daddy love each other, right?"

Loona nodded her head.

"And you know how much we love you, right?"

Again, Loona nodded.

"Well, something big is going to happen soon. Something that will change all our lives forever, including yours," Siri revealed.

Loona gave her parents a puzzled look in response. "Are we getting a pet?"

The couple chuckled, further confusing their daughter.

"No, dear," her father said. However, he paused before he spoke again. "Do… do you remember when you caught me and your mother… 'cuddling' in bed?"

Loona nodded her head. She also knew what her dad meant when he said "cuddling." A couple of weeks ago, she'd caught her parents having sex and the two were forced to give their little girl the "talk." She took it better than most children her age usually did.

"And do you remember what we said can happen when two people in love do… 'that'?" Nova asked.

Again, Loona nodded her head, though a realization came to her as she remembered what her parents had told her that night. Her eyes widened in surprise as she looked at her mother, mainly at her tummy.

"You're…?"

Her mother's face blushed while she nodded her head. "Yes. We're having a baby. You're going to be a big sister."

Loona's mouth dropped open upon hearing her mother's confirmation. After hearing the big news, she hugged her parents, and they returned it.

"That's awesome!" she said.

The parents were happy to hear this from their daughter. "I'm Glad you're happy about it, sweetie," Siri replied.

Releasing her parents from the hug, she had a large grin. "Are you kidding? I'm thrill-"

At that moment, Loona's voice was cut by a loud, menacing shriek blaring throughout the city.

Then, fear replaced the joy and excitement the Eclipse family felt.

"Oh no!" Nova gasped, clutching her stomach, while her husband grabbed hold of Loona.

"The extermination has come early!" an imp demon shouted while running away. Only to be stopped in his tracks by a gold and silver spear flying through the air and impaling him in the head.

Looking up, the Eclipse family saw a glowing gold portal open from the sky, with armed angles flying through it.

Siri picked up Loona as he ran out of the park alongside his wife, which extermination angels were overrunning.

Panic engulfed the demons of Hell. Almost all were now running away while those who didn't were easily picked off and murdered by the genocide happy angles, who soon began targeting other demons who ran as well.

The sight horrified Loona as she saw it happen while her parents continued to run with her in her father's arms. She had been fortunate enough to be in hiding during the last three exterminations, meaning she'd never seen them happen up close and in person. Now she was seeing it and the blood and gore of demons of all sorts, sinners, imps, succubus, even fellow hellhounds.

The monster angels were killing them, and it caused Loona to cry.

Though focused on escaping the bloodshed, Siri rubbed his daughter's back, attempting to comfort her.

"There, there, Loonypie. It's going to be alright. We'll go home and fi-"

"Siri, LOOK OUT!" Nova cried. But it was too late! A spear flew through the air towards her husband, going straight through his lower left leg. This caused the father hound to cry in pain as he dropped Loona. However, she was caught by her mother before she could hit the ground.

When the two looked at Siri, the sight horrified them, especially Loona. The man's leg was pouring out so much blood from the wound inflicted by the spear, which was still in his limp, but only the middle of it. The blade part had gone past the leg and had impaled the cement ground beneath him.

"Sirius!"

"Daddy!"

Putting her daughter down carefully, Nova ran towards her husband and attempted to pull out the spear, which appeared stuck in the ground. Attempts only increased the amount of blood coming out of Siri while making him moan in agony.

"It… it's no good... dear…" Siri moaned, coughing up blood as he did so.

That didn't stop his wife from trying.

"We can't give up, dear."

Siri turned to look up at the sky, his body trembling when he did.

"Nova, honey, you have to get out of here. Angles are coming as we speak."

Nova looked like she'd been stabbed in the heart when he said this. "Are you crazy?!"

"Even if you get this fucking stick out of me, I'm in no condition to walk, much less run."

"But…"

"You have to get our children to safety. Loona," he then touched his wife's stomach, "And… Ayla…"

Nova couldn't help it as she began to shed some tears. As much as it pained her, she knew that to save her children, she had to let go of the man who gave them to her.

Letting go of the spear, Nova leaned towards Siri and gave him one last kiss.

"Farewell, dear," she said before picking up Loona, turning away from her husband, and began to run off.

"Goodbye, my love," Siri called out. "And goodbye, Loonypie."

"DADDY!" Loona cried out.

"Be strong, Loona. Be strong for your-"

With a horrified expression, Loona watched as an angel swooped down and slashed her father's head off.

"NO!" Loona screamed. Leaping up from the bed she was in and panting hard, she looked around, finding herself not in the hound park or on the streets but in her boyfriend's bedroom.

She tried, but she could not hold back the tears forming in her eyes upon remembering the death of her father. It was the worst day of her life. The day her family began to fall apart. She remembered it like it was yesterday. However, she wished, more than anything, for the memories of that horrible day to leave her mind forever. To allow her the peace and freedom she desired so much.

If a god existed to watch out for those in need of the people of Hell, he must've heard Loona as, at that moment, a whistling Vortex came in, holding a coffee carrier with two coffees and a small paper bag.

As soon as he saw the miserable expression on his lover's face, his happiness turned to that of concern.

"What's wrong?"

Seeing her lover's concerned look, Loona wiped her tears away and attempted to smile. "N… nothing. Just a bad dream, that's all."

Vortex knew Loona better than that. But he also knew that if Loona didn't want to talk about it, she wouldn't, and it was usually best not to push her.

Instead, he placed one of the coffees on the nightstand beside her, then the little bag on her lap.

"I got you your favourites: mocha latte, extra milk and chocolate. Oh, and a blueberry muffin."

The smile on Loona's face became genuine at how thoughtful her lover was being. And it couldn't have come at a better time.

"Thanks, Vorry. You're the best."

"Hey, anything for my favourite girl," he replied, leaning in and kissing her on the snout, making her blush.

If anyone could take away the pain she felt from her past. It was Vortex. And she was grateful to have him in her life.

Now, I know many of you are wondering about Stolas' fate. Don't worry; he'll play a part in this story. That's all I can say for now.

Fun fact: Loona's father's name is Siri, which is short for Sirius and the brightest star in the sky. It is also called the Dog Star.
