The Mortal Kombat Idea.
I started writing this when I first got Mortal Kombat 9, it was a brief idea that I ran with for as along as it stuck with me that led to this little fight scene with the death of the Dursleys at the end of it and Harry injured. I had a couple of ideas that I was tempted to run with it but I never got any further with it.

She crashed through the bay window slamming into a flimsy wooden coffee table, the furniture buckling under her weight as she dropped to the ground, rolling over it, shards of wood scraping into her skin as she rolled across the floor. She stopped in the middle of the room panting slightly for breath, wincing as she did so a hand moving to her chest tenderly feeling her ribs, a second later and she concluded nothing was broken but it was definitely sore, she reached over, a blue gloved hand gripping a larger chunk of wood in her arm. She hissed in pain behind the blue mask that covered her mouth and nose as she gripped it and pulled it out, throwing it away to the side.
She heard the sound of glass crunching underfoot and she turned her head. Looking at the heavy duty combat boots that the person wore, brown and black straps fastened them tightly, metal fastenings added extra protection as well as extra damage to any kicks or strikes with the studded knee pads that rested over grey pants. Though the thing that caught her attention the most, the sheathe on the side of the boots, which normally held an overly large knife was now empty. She looked up and there, in the mans muscular brown gloved hand rested the blade, she pushed herself off the ground quickly back to her feet and made some distance between the two, not that there was much to make in the Living room that the fight had moved into. She stared at him, Brown eyes locking with his odd eyes, the man had a metal face plate over the upper right side of his face and his eye glowed red, the other, just showed amusement. "See, it doesn't matter about any of your fancy moves love, when you don't have the room to do them, it all comes down to my style of fighting." The man taunted bringing the blade up towards his lips and holding it tauntingly.
"You will find I'm quite capable regardless of the situation." The woman responded calmly her hands gripping two items that were clipped to her outfit, pulling them free and with a flick of her wrist unfurled two fans, the metal blades that were part of them practically glowed as they reflected the light shining in from behind the man.
"I wasn't sent here after you princess…" The man spoke dismissively and the Woman frowned, her brow creasing as she did so.
"What do you come here for then?" she questioned and the man smiled.
"Wouldn't you like to know princess." Kano responded the smile shifting more into a smirk.
"There is nothing of value around here… just an ordinary residence." She said chancing a glance at the pictures on the wall that showed a family of three. A large man with no neck, an extremely thin looking woman with a long neck and a teenager that looked to be lucky to still be alive with the weight he seemed to be. "You were near this house… what is it about this place that draws you here? Or is the leader of the Black Dragon gang now reduced to a debt collector?" She taunted and Kano frowned.
"Your dear old Daddy wants someone removed." Kano responded and Kitana raised an eyebrow in curiosity, taking another moment to glance at the picture. "I Wouldn't waste time looking at that, they have no pictures of him." Kano added, he had cased the place for the last few days.
"So you truly have become a thug for my STEP father." She said, emphasizing the word step, her distaste for the man clear. "How sad to see the leader of the Black Dragon sent on simple missions. How far have you fallen?" She mocked and Kano launched forwards, the time for conversation over. She side stepped the lunge, the man recovering quickly and swinging with his other hand, she brought her arm up blocking the attack though her arm buckled slightly under his superior strength. Lashing out with a kick she knocked him back away from him. Kano recovered quickly, a glow forming in his right eye and the woman ducked out the way as a red blast of energy shot from it hitting the patio doors at the back of the room the glass shattering, falling onto the stone surface before the garden. Kano moved in quickly, catching her off guard several sharp blows to the stomach, knocking her back, she doubled over as the wind was knocked out of her and Kano quickly pushed the attack slamming his knee into her face.
Her mask slipped off as she staggered back, a trickle of blood running down her nose as she focused back onto Kano getting into a defensive stance, stepping back towards the now defunct patio doors, taking advantage of the slightly more open area. "You've gotten soft Kitana, maybe leaving Shao Khan was a mistake after all?" Kano taunted and the woman, Kitana glared.
"Come then, let me show you how weak I am." She snapped and charged forwards, Kano quickly jabbed at her, she skidded to a stop, leaning back, the punch narrowly missing, she gripped his arm, pulling him forwards, her left leg pressing into his stomach as she continued falling back pulling him with her before pushing her foot up and launching him over head. Kano let out a cry of surprise as he hit the frame of the doors and crashed through them, the thin rectangle of material crumpling under his weight as they were ripped out of their place in the wall. Kitana jumped back to her feet, moving forwards and bending down long enough to pick up the fans that had fallen to the side as Kano pulled himself back up. She jumped, folding the fans up into the single thick blade, stabbing down at Kano who barely managed to roll out the way. The fans hit the ground, the stone cracking under the sheer force as Kitana unfurled them again continuing to press the attack against Kano. Swiping with the fans, Kano jumped backwards, the blade narrowly missing his skin as he pulled out two Butterfly Knives he had secured to his jacket. He retaliated just as quick showing Kitana just how effective he could be with those blades. Twisting out the way of the first one, she brought one fan up catching the second blade with it, closing the fan, locking the knife in place she twisted her arm flicking both weapons away where they clattered to the ground. Kano reacted quickly, punching Kitana in the face sending her back, she quickly got back to her feet. Kano moved forwards, Kitana twisted spinning to deliver a kick, Kano brought his hands up to block the blow but was caught off guard as she spun back the other way and Kano was hit by the heel of her shoe, cutting deeply into his cheek.
He grunted in pain as he staggered backwards and Kitana followed through, throwing her fan at him. Kano, with years of survival instinct kicking in ducked out of the way, the blades on the fan still catching his right arm slicing into it before embedding in the fence post. Kano gripped his arm growling in frustration as he felt the blood trickle from the wound before running at Kitana. The woman stepped forwards, her hands gripping his shoulders, she jumped spinning over his head and Kano stumbled forwards as she pushed off of him and turned around to see the heel of her boot coming straight for his face. Unable to block the boot caught him square in the jaw knocking him backwards his vision going spotty for a moment from the force of the blow before she stepped forwards again and delivered another vicious kick to the side of his head that knocked him flat.
Kitana let out a sigh of relief as she saw Kano fall to the ground, dazed and disorientated from the blows as she picked up the first fan and walked over to where the other one was and grabbing it. "It is over Kano." She said and folded up the two fans before pausing as she heard the sound of a car pulling up sharply at the front of the house.
Several doors were heard slamming shut and a very loud and angry voice spoke up. "What the hell happened to the house!" carried clearly to the two as Kano was still in the process of sitting back up.
"Sorry love, looks like business is starting, we'll have to continue this fun another time." Kano said and surprised the woman as he pushed himself up with remarkable speed, making her wonder briefly how badly stunned he had actually been.
"Get back here Kano!" Kitana called running after him.
Kano grinned as he ran into the living room and jumped out through the window, dropping a small item as he barrelled into the large man knocking him down, the item dropping into the grass as he ran off a small beep sounding from the device that he had just dropped, quickly increasing in tempo.
Kitana skidded to a halt hearing the sound, already knowing what was coming and brought her hands up as a loud hiss was heard followed by a loud explosion launching her back. She cried out in pain as she was blasted back, clear across the room and into the back garden again, her back landing on the stone floor scraping away at skin. She pushed herself up onto her elbows looking to the front of the house, her vision losing focus slightly as she shook her head, trying to stop the world from spinning on her as she saw the now destroyed front end of the room and the carnage that remained.
The three residents had been killed in the explosion, too close to do anything other than be engulfed in the explosion. The car was also totalled having not fared any better in the ensuing blast.
But there was someone else, a teen with messy black hair, injured but still breathing. She quickly moved over to him checking him, burns across his face and arms along with several deep cuts that were bleeding quite heavily.
Around her she felt something magical wash over her, her senses going crazy as she turned around in circles looking for the new threat that she felt.
Several cracks echoed in the air and a dozen people clad in robes appeared around her, they each held a stick in their hand and pointed it at her. She looked around cautiously, her hands on her fans, ready to strike if they made any move to attack her.
"Drop your weapons." One of them ordered harshly and Kitana turned her head to look at him, quirking an eyebrow to show her amusement.
"Why don't you make me?" She taunted, still annoyed that Kano had escaped and now she was being held up by these people… whoever they were.

The ending here as abrupt as it is, is as far as I ever got with this. It's one of two ideas I had to continue, the first had Kitana calling for Raiden to get her and Harry out of there to get him treated which would lead to them investigating the magical world as a potential threat if Shao Khan was getting involved with it then there had to be something there.
The second idea is the one you start to see with the Order arriving and seeing the situation immediately believing that it was Kitana that did the damage.
Either way, the continuing of the story leads to Harry doing what he can to help Raiden and the others, most probably getting his ass kicked repeatedly because although he can use magic, he's not really trained for hand to hand fighting.
An idea I'm still toying with but I have other things at the moment I need to get done first… like the next chapter of Constants and Variables.
