Ghost Spider just had the worst luck, sometimes it felt like everything was against her. She could've blamed this on her classmate but she was just an innocent civilian.
"GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!" She yelled at Nilima. She used her web string to spin her into a drycleaning store.
"I have a lot of questions right now, but I'll ask while kicking your asses cool?"
The tailed ninja lunged at her, but she dodged thanks to her spider-sense. The bear shark scratched her in the back. Hissing, she kicked the hybrid in the gut. Then she tried webbing the shorter one but she seemed too agile.
Blue: This must be how criminals feel when they struggle to shoot us.
Pink: I understand their frustration now.
Ghost Spider had a struggle dodging and punching at the same time. So she came up with a plan. Looking at the bug man, she swung at him and punched him up the chin. Bear-Shark might have been the obvious muscle, but the bug was the biggest threat. He was commanding the others. The ninja was propelled by the bear shark to her as they fell.
"Perfect", Ghost Spider whispered to herself. She held up the bug in front of her, and the ninja unintentionally crashed into him. This stopped them from falling. The reason was that the ninja was thrown up with such force that all three of them were directed onto a rooftop. She quickly yanked the ninja's two swords away, and then she webbed the bug into a cocoon. Sensing the ninja, she leaped up and then swept it off her feet. The bear shark arrived by the elevator. Ghost Spider quickly stomped the ninja with only enough force to make it feel a stomach ache before she webbed it into a cocoon. Turning to the bear shark, she tried punching it with every hit. It was large, but slow, meaning her agility was her most useful ability against it. When the bear shark charged, Ghost Spider swept him off his feet. That caused him to stumble and fall off the building. The vigilante shot a web at his paws and then tied her end to a flag post on the side.
"I think it would be wise to stay like that for the cops. But if you wanna be an ugly stain on the ground then go ahead and cut the sticky rope", Ghost Spider smirked under her mask. She webbed down and looked for Nilima.
She saw her coming out of the Dry Cleaning store. "You! You're going home!" She glared.
"Why are you mad at me?" The girl shot back. She seemed angry. "You stalker!"
"Hey! Quiet!" Ghost Spider covered the girl's mouth with her gloved hand. "Listen and listen good".
Nilima was still glaring but remained silent. "I can't trust you to walk home by yourself so I'll be your transportation…for today". Ghost Spider whispered. "You don't have the privilege to refuse and I'm the only one who will protect you".
She removed her hand from Nilima's mouth who just looked at her. "Second Square Street, Midton".
"That's where you live?" Ghost Spider questioned in surprise. Nilima nodded. Ghost Spider pulled her close by her waist.
"What are you doing?"
"You'll have to hold tighter than that".
"Wait are you—AH!" Nilima screamed after the hero swung away, holding the girl. Nilima was squeezing too tight and buried her head on Ghost Spider's shoulder.
"WOOHOO!" The vigilante shouted with joy. Nilima slowly lifted her head and looked behind, immediately regretting to see how high they were. Ghost Spider turned to look at her.
"কেন তুমি আমাকে এ খুঁজছেন?!আপনি কোথায় যাচ্ছেন দেখুন"
"What? Speak English!"
"WATCH WHERE YOU ARE SWINGING!" She yelled.
Ghost Spider made a turn. Then she landed on the rooftop of an apartment building. The Bengali girl said something in her language out of relief. Then she seemed a bit confused. "Why did you take me up here?"
"Isn't this your street?"
"Yes…but why didn't you drop me at the front door?"
Ghost Spider fiddled with her fingers. "Well, I…argh! I just wanna talk to you" She confessed.
"Why?"
"Because I can tell you are new here. Don't get me wrong, I see tourists every at least once a week but you…".
Nilima folded her arms. "What about me?"
"You seem like someone who had a rough first day in this city", she explained as she stood next to her with her hand on her opposite shoulder. "So, let it out", she said with her lenses looking like she was being silly yet sensitive.
"Why should I tell you?"
"I'm gonna visit you every day from now on to ensure you are safe".
Nilima scoffed in disbelief. "You're making fun of me?"
"What—no! It's my job to protect people, but this isn't about me. This is about you".
Nilima just groaned. "You want to know my problem? It's everyone! On my first day of school, everyone hated me. I made a friend but his girlfriend won't leave me alone ever since she saw me with him during lunch".
"Wait…girlfriend?!" Ghost Spider's lenses widened in shock, and then the lenses formed into a look of disgust. She made fake gags.
"What's the matter with you?" Nilima found this vigilante unusual.
"Oh, well I suspect that it's Kevin".
"How did you know?"
"I spoke to him before running into you. And he told me the blonde girl he's usually with is just a good friend. In fact, he told me that he would rather kiss a poisonous snake than kiss her".
"He told you that?" Nilima chuckled at that. Ghost Spider nodded. Nilima looked at the hero with a smile. "You are the second person I've met in this country who isn't terrible".
"So…maybe give this town a shot. And screw the people who were being jerks to you".
Nilima ran to Ghost Spider and hugged her. "Thank you". She said as she pulled away and both girls stared at each other. "Do you…want to eat something?"
"Sure!"
They both walked down the emergency stairs. Ghost Spider told jokes to break the silence while Nilima ranted about school.
"Yeah, math is a huge pain. It's the only subject that makes detention look like a paradise".
Nilima laughed. "You say that as if you've been to detention a lot".
"No! I'm not a problem child".
As Nilima used her key to open the door, she turned to see Ghost Spider staring blankly. "You live here?"
"Yes", Nilima answered. "Well, my older cousin owns the place".
Ghost Spider couldn't believe it, Nilima was living in the apartment her dads lived in when they took her in. As she walked in, she was a bit surprised to see the place being redecorated.
"Sit on the couch, I'm going to get some Briyani".
The new couch was pink with comfy cushions. The whole apartment seemed…decent…and cleaner than when Eddie first bought it. As she sat down, she noticed the television was hung on the wall.
"Here", the Bengali girl said. She placed the dish on the coffee table. "Sorry about the mess, I wasn't expecting a visitor".
"No, to be honest, this place isn't messy at all. It's very…decent, unlike most apartments in this city".
Nilima blushed. Ghost Spider pulled up her mask halfway up her face and started eating. She moaned at the delicious chicken pieces. "Nice and spicy".
"Really? I overdid it with the chili then", Nilima hummed. Ghost Spider then placed the dish on the coffee table before panicking.
"Oh my God! I'm late again! Sorry but I have to go, the food was nice and you're pretty—uh bye!" Ghost Spider said with her mouth full. She swallowed and pulled her mask down before swinging away.
Eddie had just finished the topic of his segment for the day and headed out. Then an unfamiliar hand gripped his shoulder. He turned around almost cursing at a chubby man. "Mr. Brock? I see your show every night".
"Look, I'm in a bit of a hurry so I'll take a selfie with you tomorrow, okay?" Eddie smiled politely.
"No, that's not why I'm here. I am here to give you a scoop about S.I.L.K".
"I am not going to interview them at the upcoming concert they're sponsoring", Eddie grumbled as he was about to walk away.
"No, Mr. Brock! I have evidence that the founder, Cindy Moon, is doing illegal activities outside of her workplace".
Eddie turned back to the man. "Go on".
"She is making weapons, illegal weapons. She is going to sell them to dangerous mafia families, people that the police cannot arrest".
Eddie eyed the man. "Do you have any proof?"
"I have a blueprint for a device that has the power of an atomic bomb". He said as he pulled out a blue paper with sketches.
"How do you know so much about this?" He asked.
"I have my ways".
"…And who are you exactly?"
"Mr. O'Neil"
