It was a slow day when my magic finally decided to show its face to us. Or more like I heard her speak to us.

'Bloody Mother of God, can this be any slower?' I thought as I looked at the boiling cauldron. 'How does my mother even get through this?'

People have hobbies Sam, some like collecting something, some like something adventurous, and you like going out for a ride on your bike. It just so happens that your mother likes to brew potions.

I look towards her, my mother. God, it is so weird calling her my mother when mentally we are so close in age it's like she's my sister more than anything. I think this while taking in her appearance, thank god my family dresses in normal clothes. I genuinely don't wanna be stuck in a robe. 'Thank god she's not like Snape and actually works on personal hygiene.' I thought while looking at her hair which was fluffy and clean as ever. It really goes to show what a pathetic man he is.

But still, it is so fucking boring brewing potions!

Ah come on, this isn't even that bad, you just need to understand what to put, how to put it, and when to put it.

There's also the fact that you need to move the ladle in a specific way. I mean, what the actual fuck? How does it matter if it goes right or left, or if I just swish and flick the bloody thing; it is essentially mixing it together, isn't it?

Magic Mate. Magic.

Chat replied while I can sense that he was sympathizing with me but it's almost like he was enjoying it too.

I was pondering whether or not I should give a witty reply when my mother spoke up.

"And now that it is boiled up to an optimal temperature we need to add these quills to it," she said while taking out the quills from a jar

"But we need to keep an extra close eye on temperature now. One wrong move and the entire cauldron can blow up" she said while doing the action of an explosion "The potion we're making now is very volatile it will not release fireworks if things go bad. Thunderbird brew is a very delicate potion and should be made with utmost care."

I just love her enthusiasm, say what you want about her, She genuinely loves making potions.

You can learn a thing or two from her, brewing potions can be a really important part of our journey into this world. We have no idea what will happen if we die here, I mean do we wake up in the real world or are we going to drop down into our minds even more?

'I don't know but frankly, I'm partial to staying alive if you don't mind.'

Mind? I'm constantly encouraging your survival; it's you who always ignores me and makes a mess of things. If only you would have listened to me on the way to college, then we would be awake and playing Jedi Survivor right now. Do you know how long I've been waiting for the sequel? But no, you just had to go that fast. And don't even get me started about your 19th birthday!

'Okay-okay! God, you're so angry with me these days.'

It has been six months since Tom started his out-of-body experience, but we're still not close to even a viable plan to do anything.

'I know but come on I'm just a toddler right now at least let me take full control over my body before we start solving world issues.'

I'm sorry for getting bitchy but-

'I know, I know patience is not a virtue we have.'

A little while later, I started looking around the room for something interesting when my nose began itching badly and I sneezed. This caught my mother's attention.

"Cass, are the fumes bothering you?" she asked as she looked me over before taking her wand out and then beginning to check the spells she had cast earlier. "I thought I had the exhaustion spell down; maybe I need to cast it again."

Sam…. Saamay the cauldron!

Due to Chat's shouting my entire focus suddenly turned towards the violently bubbling position, which also dragged my mother's attention to it, but it was already too late and I could sense that the entire thing was about to blow up.

Without thinking I just grabbed Chole and I felt a wave enveloping us both and then I felt us moving while rolling at an extremely high speed toward the other side of the room.

It took a while for me to get my bearings back but I finally looked towards the cauldron and saw wards around the station containing the explosion… huh, guess I got scared for no reason.

I was just thinking this when Mother lifted me up and started laughing and babbling about how extraordinary the skill and magic were that she had just witnessed. It was at this moment I realized that somehow, in my scared state, I had done my first feat of accidental magic.

Without paying attention to the ruined cauldron, Mother started running out of the basement to find her parents. Reaching the living room, she found both of them coming toward her because of the sound of the explosion and her mother's screaming.

"Cass just did his first accidental magic! And it was amazing!"

With that, both my grandparents turned towards me with pride and my grandmother took me from my mother.

"Did he now? Was that the explosion we just heard?"

"No no, I was brewing potion when I got a bit distracted, and then suddenly it exploded an-"

My Grandfather interrupted and began to check my mother and me for any injuries.

"Please tell me you remembered to ward the area around the workstation."

"Of course I did," said my mother, "but Cass didn't know that, so to save myself and him from the explosion, he just grabbed the sleeve of my cardigan and I felt a wave wash over me. Then we were moving across the room! It was like I was teleported to the other side of the room, but without feeling anything like Apparating does." This got my grandad's attention.

"That should not be possible," he thought out loud "The entire house is under anti-apparition and portkey wards." He paused in his thoughts, thinking it over, when suddenly he remembered something. "Did it feel like you were rolling on the ground, and then suddenly you stood up?"

My mother paused for a second to think about it and then replied

"Yes, that is exactly what it felt like. Do you know something about it?"

This got my grandfather very excited and happy

"Yes, it was something only your great-grandmother could do." Nora? "She said it was related to the nature of her magic, and that it was extremely rare. Looks like little Cass inherited her magic from our line!" my grandfather said very happily looks like he's talking about ancient magic, and it looks like you used swift ability

"It doesn't matter where his magic comes from," my grandma said interrupting both of them "What matters is that he just did his first magical feat, and that too was to save his mother from what he thought was a dangerous situation."

After that, I tuned out the others and started to think things over.

Well then Sam, I guess congratulations are in order! You just did your first magic feat!

'I guess I did chat'

It was I actually, but oh well.

AAAAHHH!

"AAAAAHHH!"

It took me a while to notice it, but I accidentally shouted out loud. Ignoring the fact that I had a third presence in my head, I quickly acted like I was really tired, which I found out I was.

"Maybe he's exhausted after all that excitement," my grandmother said.

"Yeah, I'll go and put him down for his nap," my mother said as she picked me up and took me to the nursery.

'Thank you for trying to save me, you're a very good son."

My mother said as she put me down in my crib and kissed my forehead. That comment made me stop for a moment and forced me to revisit a recurring thought. Did I steal her son from her? Rationally, I know that this is just my imagination, but it feels like I took something away from her. I was going down the rabbit hole when Chat pulled me out of my funk.

Enough sentimentality! Hello, who's here?

Are you talking to me? The voice spoke again in that dreamy, almost angelic voice.

.Yes miss, I believe we're talking to you.

How is it that you two are in a single body? I don't detect any kind of possession or any sort of foreign magic.

She started firing questions and talking about magic as if she were already experienced in it, which, to be honest, scared me a bit because it made me think someone was trying to enter my mind.

'No, no, no! It doesn't matter who we are; what matters is who the fuck you are and how the fuck you came here, so you better start speaking or I swear to fucking God I will stop being so polite!'

And then she spoke again but his time as if she was humoring me.

I was always here, you were just not acknowledging me.

Okay that just prompted more questions than answers

Do you somehow have a second conscience, Sam?

'Maybe it's my SUBconsience?'

No, I'm not your conscience or anything like that. I'm Cassius Fall's magic…. But you're not Cassius Fall or at least you don't believe yourself to be.

.

'….well speaking simply I'm Cassius Fall.'

But for some reason, you feel older than a one-year-old. You feel experienced, someone who has walked the world far longer than this body is supposed to have been alive for.

Sam do you wanna take this?

Traitor.

And that's how our night was spent, explaining to each other our fragile existence, so melodramatic right? And discussing how to move forward.

'So….. now that that's cleared, I'm guessing that people can't just talk to their magic like this.'

I said still trying to wrap my head around the fact that im talking to magic

No, they don't. I believe it is due to the nature of your relationship with….Chat, that is allowing you to speak to me and hear me.

What, because he's in touch with me he gained some sort of ability?

No, what I believe happened here is that, due to your conversations with Cass, he has become more attuned to his body, mind, and his psyche. It is very rare to see someone this attuned with themselves; usually, people need a lot of practice with Occlumency before they can even begin to notice or get in touch with their magic.

'Well, that makes sense. I have been talking to Chat for 16 years.'

That is all well and good but what do we call you?

Chat said while suddenly getting excited.

I don't really have a name, you can just call me Magic.

Oh no missy you're getting a name.

I can almost feel amusement flowing from…magic? Yeah, we need a name for her.

'You are now part of our family, you're definitely getting a name.'

Okay.. what do you suggest then? She said a little uncertain.

How about Mage?

Mage?

'I like it, between us three you're the literal practitioner of magic'

.I am magic.

'You know what I mean.'

It is settled! Mage, welcome to the family!

This is gonna be awesome!

This is gonna be…interesting.
