"We need to meet account manager of the house of Fall"
Once again, we stood before the teller.
"Wait here a moment" he replied while hitting something below the table, after which we waited for a few minutes before hearing a old gravely voice
"Rust" and i saw a proper ancient looking goblin before us dressed in a fine suit
"Sharpnail it's good to see you again my friend." my grandfather said happily greeting him back.
"Hmm and who do you have with you" he said gesturing to me
"This is my grandson and my heir Cassius Fall"
"Okay, so how can I help" really? No comment just moving on? What do you expect him to do? 'Shut it'
"We need to do a heirship test" my grandfather said while we were walking into a big office
"For young Cassius here?"
"Actually yes but also for me" I gave him a questioning glance which he answered with a shrug.
"Okay who wants to go first?" Sharpnail asked while taking out some parchments and a blade.
"I will," I answered quickly. If I'm thrust into it then I'm diving head first.
So Sharpnail explained to me the entire procedure, which was essentially just two steps: cut your finger with a knife and bleed a few drops onto the parchment. Which I did without hesitation and eagerly gave him the sheet back.
"It'll take a while" he said while producing a different knife for my grandfather but something appeared on the sheet which stopped him dead in the tracks
"Hmm that's not right."
"What's wrong?" I asked, but instead of answering like a decent person, he placed the parchment and knife back in front of me again.
"Here follow the same procedure"
"You want me to take the test again?"
"Yes I want to conform something" he said urging me to do it so I quickly did the entire thing again and handed him the parchment
"Interesting"
"What's happening my friend" clearly my grandfather was also curious
"It seems magic has given young Cassius access to three families, and I'm not talking about heirship, but lordship. It seems that magic recognizes him as an adult rather than a child" he answered adding the last bit as a sort of question which none of us jumped to answer
"Okay so which lines are there?" i asked urging to move things forward
"Well, there are three houses: the House of Fall, which is currently led by your grandfather, Lord Rust Fall; the House of Slytherin; and the House of Peverell."
"Why the Peverell?" I already knew the answer but appearances have to be kept
"It seems you're descendant of Cadmus Peverell, who's only child married into Gaunt line" I mulled over it a little while. It will be a pain in the noggins if I take the lordships and let things get out of hand.
"But what about my grandfather, can't he take over the lordship of the families?"
"No, he can only absorb the family lines into the current house he leads." Okay, yeah, not gonna happen. That is not an alternative I want to see right now. They may hinder me a little, but they can also help me a lot. It was then that a new idea started to form in my head.
"Are there any requirements for the Slytherin and Peverell lines?
"The slytherin lordship can only be taken by a male parselmouth." which I am
"Okay and the Peverell line?"
"Sanguis Ante Omnia, it means Blood Before All. This is the motto of the Peverell family, I'm sure you can guess what this means. otherwise there are no requirements."
"Alright then I'll take the title of Lord Slytherin" this can solve one of the biggest problem I'm currently dealing with here
"Why can't we just let it be absorbed and take the other one?" my grandfather asked the moment Sharpnail walked out of the room.
"Because they are both old lines with a lot of pull in wizengamot and Slytherin one might give me some leverage in Hogwarts too." I answered while still working over a plan "And there's another thing." I added unconsciously
"What other thing?"
"Later" I'd rather explain it just once
"Okay, but why are you not taking Peverell line" he asked
"I was hoping mom would take up the mantle" i answered a little amused
"Oh yes that can work. But keep in mind she will not be happy about it." at this he also started chuckling
"Here you are, young one," Sharpnail announced as he entered and presented a small, very ornate black box with white pearly swirls.
"Let's see if the ring will accept you as the new lord," he said while I opened the box and took out a ring clearly too large for my small fingers. The ring was black with a bluish sheen; the face of the ring was white, with a serpent made from black metal winding around it. I quickly slipped the ring onto my finger, which adjusted its size to fit me perfectly within seconds.
"Well that's good, would you like me to call the account manager of the House of Slytherin?" Sharpnail asked once the whole ordeal was over.
"Yes please," I said as he saw him hit something under his desk and got comfortable. I was still looking at the ring when the door opened and a younger goblin walked in.
"Here he is, Nilfang, manager of the Slytherin house. I'll leave you in his care." and with that he quickly got out of the room. Nilfang took the seat and pulled out a big book
"Good morning lord slytherin, lord fall. I have to say it is not everyday you see a 3 year old lord."
"Believe me I'm as surprised as you"
"Mhh well, here are all the properties you currently own." Nilfang quickly moved the book towards me. From the looks of it, I owned a lot. Like, a little too much, but what really got my attention was the part about Hogwarts.
"This includes Hogwarts. Does this mean that I can make decisions about the curriculum and teachers?"
"No, for that you need two heirs to agree upon and we don't know any other." Well, that's a little disappointing.
"What is this?" I asked, picking up a bundle of sheets and giving it a once-over, noticing many names on it. Names of many prominent Death Eaters.
"These are all the documents regarding the amount of money that is owed to your house by other houses or people." looky looky here, with this alone you can clip the wings of many people in one sweep. Look out people, the new lord slytherin is coming.
'wait'
"By the way my taking the lordship will notify the wizengamot about me, right?" I asked quickly
"Yes I'm afraid it will" this was answered by grandfather who also looked a little troubled at this.
"Can I just make you my proxy and be done with it?" i asked you whined
"Well you just did" he said a little amused at my gobsmacked expression.
"Is it that easy? Hell you can accidentally appoint anyone your proxy." Are wizards this stupid?
"You can take it away too, but yeah that's how it goes." No wonder Tom was able to rise to power so fast. Purebloods are stupid.
"Anyways Ninfang, I want you to call in the debt for all the death eaters out there and let me see about the rest." I told him, closing the book.
"How much faster do you want it done?" he asked with a feral grin
"Give them two days. After that confiscate it all. Oh and please be careful when you're handling lestrange vault. There's something in it that I wanna destroy very badly."
"Can you tell us what it is." he asked with narrowed eyes
"You'll know it when you see it. Just don't touch it." not wanting to say anything in front of my grandfather i quickly shut him down.
"Okay, anything else?"
"not at the moment."
"Then I'll see you later." he said and quickly started making his way out of the room.
"Well today was exciting, now why don't you tell me about this plan of yours" my grandfather asked once we were out.
"After mom picks up the lordship. By the way, when is the next wizengamot meeting?"
"In three days." I can see that he doesn't like them either
"Hmm I'm pretty sure Albus would like to know the identity of the new lord slytherin."
"Are you planning on telling him?"
"Yes. we need to" he seemed a little shocked
"Well, good luck with it." he said once we reached the apparition point.
That will be a breeze
…sure
