Chapter 49: Revival
Death and destruction!
Darth Maul and Savage Opress spread chaos as they descend on the outer rim.
After rescuing his brother from despair, Savage and Maul murder and pillage at every turn.
Fueled by rage and vengeance, they search for meaning in their new alliance as reports of their brutal attacks spread across the galaxy.
In Space...
Obi-Wan, Nadia and Adi Gallia were travelling on the Eta-class shuttle to head in a space station that was in orbit over a greenish planet orbiting the star Erg Es 992 in the Meridian sector known as Cybloc which got under attack by dangerous individuals that wielded lightsabers.
Obi-Wan checked on the screen on where the signal was contacting him and his companions on.
"The distress signal is coming from here."Obi-Wan exclaimed."The Meridian sector, Cybloc System."
"It is close enough to the earlier attack."Master Gallia stated.
Nadia felt her butterflies in her stomach since she immediately guessed who attacked the space station.
The ones who desperately who wanted to kill Obi-Wan and herself.
"I have a feeling it's them."Nadia admitted with a hint of worry."Maul and his brother, Savage."
A Moment After...
Once they arrived at the space station that was over Cybloc, the three Jedi met a male Snivvian named Morlimur Snugg, who was the warehouse supervisor and told them what occurred inside.
Morlimur showed Obi-Wan, Master Gallia and Nadia around and they saw droids on the floor.
"They ought to be flush."Morlimur stated."Chips were all unlocked. This side of the Hydian."
"They were alone?"Obi-Wan asked.
"Yup, yup."Morlimur replied."What were they, a couple of Jedi gone rogue or something?"
Obi-Wan, Master Gallia and Nadia looked at each other.
"They're not Jedi, Mr Snugg."Nadia admitted."They're the opposite of that."
Morlimur looked at Obi-Wan.
"Do me a favour."Morlimur responded."Spark up that lightsaber, would you?"
Obi-Wan activated his lightsaber, revealing the blue colour of his blade.
"Mm-hmm."Morlimur commented, analysing Obi-Wan's blue blade."Well, the droids that got attacked said that theirs were red."
"They are Sith and we need to find them before they strike again."Obi-Wan stated.
"Well, they took my cargo ship."Morlimur answered."The droid survivor said they heard something about the Sertar sector."
Obi-Wan, Master Gallia and Nadia then began to walk away as they spoke with each other.
"What is in the Sertar sector?"Master Gallia asked.
"That's where Florrum is."Obi-Wan replied."Me and Nadia have been there."
Adi glanced at Obi-Wan and Nadia with a surprised expression.
"You two have been there?"Master Gallia asked."What can we expect?"
Nadia groaned and pinched the bridge of her eyebrows as an annoyed look appeared on her face.
"Pirates."Nadia muttered bitterly."Weequay pirates."
Afterwards, the Eta-class shuttle arrived to Florrum and the trio spotted a few starships in front of them.
"We have a match on the cargo ship."Master Gallia stated.
"It seems Maul and Savage have picked up a pirate escort."Obi-Wan commented.
A scoff escaped Nadia's mouth.
"A poor choice since the pirates don't know the meaning of loyalty that much."Nadia
"Maybe to unload the stolen cargo."Master Gallia suggested.
Nadia shook her head as she went off her seat to go next to Obi-Wan and Adi.
"I'm not sure the pirate Hondo would have an alliance with Maul and his brother, Master Gallia."Nadia admitted."His crazy, but would never ally himself with Sith."
"So you both know this Hondo personally?"Adi Gallia assumed.
Nadia nodded with a frown on her face.
"Unfortunately, yes."Obi-Wan answered with his arms folded and then made contact with Hondo via hologram."Greetings, Hondo."
Hondo, however, appeared to be less happy to see the Jedi he knew.
"Greetings? What kind of menace have you brought to my planet now?"Hondo questioned and started to complain."First, Count Dooku comes to the system! Then the Republic comes in and attacks my entire stronghold leaving me here to just rummage through the leftovers of my once great Empire! And now these two horned men show up! Who are these horny-headed maniacs? They don't seem like normal Jedi."
"They're not Jedi, Hondo. They're Sith."Nadia corrected with a firm look."We tracked them here."
"They just threatened to attack with a group of my men with my own men!"Hondo shouted.
Obi-Wan, Adi and Nadia glanced at the ships heading to Florrum.
"Yes, we are looking at them right now."Obi-Wan exclaimed firmly."A cargo vessel and three of your star ships. They are heading toward you, Hondo."
"Dadada."Hondo scoffed."More to the point, are you going to help me when you get here?"
"There's nothing we can do about your men, but we can certainly do something about the Sith."Nadia admitted.
"Good respond, Aomori."Hondo replied."I'll deal with my men. You two deal with those tattooed crazies."
"Right."Obi-Wan answered.
Then the hologram of Hondo went off.
In Florrum...
The Eta-class shuttle landed on a hill near Hondo's base causing Obi-Wan, Master Gallia and Nadia to go out to see what was going on.
Beneath, they saw Hondo's men and the ones who turned against him in middle of a blaster fight.
But the three Jedi's attention was on Maul and Savage, who were prepared to fight them off.
"Throwing in with pirates now?"Obi-Wan questioned."Oh, how the mighty Sith have fallen."
"You said it, Master."Nadia sneered in amusement.
Obi-Wan, Nadia and Master Gallia activated their lightsabers.
Maul began to duel Obi-Wan, while Master Gallia and Nadia fought Savage causing them to land on the ground where the Weequay pirates battled one another.
Obi-Wan and Maul fought at the top of a broken ship.
"No. I have plans, Kenobi!"Maul snarled coldly."You and your Padawan brat will not stand in my way this time!"
Nadia managed to hold her duel against Savage, but then Savage used the Force to throw her away and hit the ground nearby.
Master Gallia was then left to fight Savage by herself.
However, Master Gallia gets overpowered and slain by Savage, who charged her with his horns before running her through with his lightsaber.
Obi-Wan and Nadia watched the sight in shock.
"No!"Obi-Wan shouted.
"Master Gallia!"Nadia cried out.
Nadia lets out an angry cry and knocked Savage to the ground with the Force.
The raven haired girl leapt up and activated her lightsabers to kill Savage, but Maul blocked her attempt to kill him.
Now it was Obi-Wan and Nadia against Maul and Savage.
"Kenobi, Aomori, this way!"Hondo called out.
Obi-Wan retrieved Master Gallia's lightsaber as he, Nadia, Hondo and the rest of the pirates were forced to retreat into the pirate base.
When the two Jedi met with Hondo, they notice most of his men were missing.
"Where are the rest of your men?"Obi-Wan asked.
"They are setting up an ambush. We can use your help."Hondo replied and notice Adi was missing."Where is the other Jedi?"
Nadia looked down with a sad look, but refused to allow her tears to come out since it wasn't the time to mourn.
"She's...she's dead."Nadia replied weakly.
Obi-Wan placed his hand on Nadia's shoulder to comfort her.
"They are too powerful for even you two?"Hondo said in disbelief."I am semi-speechless."
"I think they went this way."
Both Obi-Wan and Nadia quickly activated their lightsabers when they recognised Maul's presence, making Hondo and his men take out their blasters.
"Me and Nadia shall draw the brothers away."Obi-Wan stated."Once that's done, blast the passageway closed."
"And leave you two alone with the two crazies?"Hondo asked and then shrugged."Well, okay."
Then Maul, Savage and their pirate group showed up within the base.
"Retreat!"Hondo ordered."Retreat!"
Obi-Wan, Nadia, Hondo and the rest of the pirates began to ran off from the two brothers and their henchmen.
"Do not let them escape!"Maul ordered darkly.
Obi-Wan and Nadia went to another direction while Hondo and his men went to the other, where they were chased by the traitorous pirates.
The two Jedi reached to a wall, where Maul and Savage confronted them.
"Surrender."Maul demanded."We are two, but neither of you are no match for us both."
Nadia glared at Maul and Savage.
"You're mistaken, Sith scum."Nadia stated cruelly.
Obi-Wan and Nadia activated their lightsabers causing their duel with the two brothers to begin once again.
But when the two Jedi got cornered and had their lightsabers blocking the two Siths, Nadia kicked Savage's leg and slashed his arm off.
Savage yelped in pain as green mist starting coming out from where his arm was cut off.
Maul looked at Obi-Wan and Nadia in utter anger before using the Force to throw the two Jedi against a wall far away from them.
Darth Sidious' former apprentice then used the Force to close the path of him and his brother.
Obi-Wan and Nadia caught their breaths of relief.
"Good thinking, young one."Obi-Wan praised proudly.
Nadia chuckled. "Never lost my speciality."
Maul and Savage headed out of Hondo's base, just in time to see Jiro and the other Weequay pirates who agreed to be their allies coming out from the other side of the base.
"Jiro, ready the men!"Maul ordered."We're leaving!"
Hondo simply walked next to Jiro and the rest of his pirate crew.
"My men aren't going anywhere with you."Hondo chuckled before looking at his men."Look at them. How powerful can they be? They are running away from Kenobi and Aomori."
Maul and Savage glared at the Weequay pirates while holding their blades.
"Filth, you will pay for your insolence."Maul snarled in dark tone.
Hondo laughed at Maul's respond, unfazed by his threat.
"Insolence! We are pirates! We don't even know what that means!"Hondo remarked as he and his men aimed their blasters at the two brothers."Open fire!"
Hondo and the rest of the Weequay pirates started using their blasters to Maul and Savage, who were running away and head to their TR-RL3 Terrapin-class bulk tanker to escape Florrum.
Obi-Wan and Nadia headed out to join Hondo and his men to go after the two brothers.
"If we kill those two, their riches will be ours!"Hondo declared.
Maul delayed the pursuers by toppling the Jedi's shuttle from a plateau to cut them off before he and Savage took off in the TR-RL3 Terrapin-class bulk tanker.
However, one of the pirates managed to fire on one of the TR-RL3 Terrapin-class bulk tanker's engines, sending the ship to fell to the ground beyond.
In the TR-RL3 Terrapin-class bulk Tanker...
Maul notice the screen was showing that the tanker's engines had been badly damaged and was not going to make it out of the planet on time.
"Our engines have been compromised."Maul declared."Get to the escape pod."
"It's too late."Savage informed.
"Trust me, apprentice!"Maul demanded.
Obi-Wan, Nadia and Hondo watched the TR-RL3 Terrapin-class bulk tanker fell into smithereens near the horizon.
Hondo brought his attention on Obi-Wan and Nadia.
"Well, Kenobi, Aomori, let's get out there and see what riches have fallen from the sky for me and you two, shall we?"Hondo asked.
"Very well."Obi-Wan agreed.
"Thought you never asked."Nadia replied bluntly.
Obi-Wan and Nadia then took speeder bikes to follow Hondo and his pirate crew to
Hondo and his men recovered the money previously obtained by the Sith, but saw no trace of the Sith brothers were found once they arrived to the damaged tanker.
"There's no sign of those two, boss."A pirate stated.
Both Obi-Wan and Nadia frowned in silence as Hondo smiled at them.
"Well, if the condition of these goods is any indication, your friends have been vaporised."Hondo admitted.
"I wouldn't be so sure."Obi-Wan replied."Nadia cut one of them by the arm and he survived."
"Well, isn't that interesting?"Hondo praised.
"So much for avenging, Master Gallia."Nadia muttered with a hint of shame.
Obi-Wan didn't reply his Padawan's declaration and was in deep thought of why Savage was able to stay alive after losing an arm.
Back on Coruscant...
Obi-Wan, Nadia, Anakin, Mace Windu and Master Yoda was in a meeting with Chancellor Palpatine.
"I think we have closure on this matter, Master Kenobi."Chancellor Palpatine admitted.
"I disagree, Chancellor."Obi-Wan stated."Everything we've learned from this is that the Sith are persistent. They will not die."
"This is a serious situation, Chancellor Palpatine."Nadia commented with a hint of fear."If Maul and Savage studied the Dark Side of the Force, it could mean a very bad thing for us."
"I understand Master Kenobi's and your reservations, Nadia, but I'm afraid we can no longer allow this personal matter of yours to be a Republic concern."Chancellor Palpatine replied."It does not appear this Darth Maul is a direct threat to the Republic. We need to redirect your efforts to the cause at hand. Stopping Count Dooku and thus ending the Clone Wars."
Nadia looked at Chancellor Palpatine with an unsure look, not understanding why the Chancellor wasn't concerned of Maul's sudden return and allying with Savage Opress.
"But Chancellor, Maul was trying to build an army of pirates."Nadia commented."Doesn't that look like a sign for more trouble for us?"
"So let him, my dear."Chancellor Palpatine insisted with a smile."They're just petty crooks of no relevance to the Senate compared to the Separatist. Good day, gentlemen and Commander Aomori."
The Chancellor then walked back to his office and the five Jedi stood up from their seats to make their leave.
Obi-Wan looked at Nadia, Anakin, Mace Windu and Master Yoda.
"Something's stirring in the underworld."Obi-Wan admitted."The criminal syndicates and their families have too much free rein since the Jedi Order has been distracted by the Clone Wars. I fear it's a fertile place for Darth Maul to flourish, if he and his brother have indeed survived."
Master Yoda nodded at Obi-Wan.
"Hmm, right you and young Aomori may be, Obi-Wan, but heed the words of Chancellor Palpatine we must."Master Yoda replied."A personal matter this is for you, clouded your judgment may be in time, however if they live, reveal themselves again Darth Maul and his brother will and then swiftly we shall act."
Then Obi-Wan, Master Yoda and Mace Windu left as Anakin noticed Nadia was looking down with a sad look.
"Are you okay, Nadia?"Anakin asked.
Nadia glanced at Anakin.
"I'm fine."Nadia assured with a small smile."I'm just upset that more people are losing their lives in this damn war, Anakin, just as well as the Jedi."
As Anakin and Nadia leave the office, Chancellor Palpatine smirked evilly while seating at his desk behind them.
