She was running.
She didn't know here she was going or what from, all she knew is that she had to keep going. She was in a forest with thick foliage around her, leaves whipped in her face as she ran past large leaved that over hung her path to freedom.
Her breath came out in short sharp pants that dried out her throat despite for moisture, only for a root protruding from the ground to go unnoticed by the seasoned assassin as it made her stumble forward,, reaching out to catch herself as her knee's hit the ground a painful grunt left her lips as she pushed herself off the ground only to be met my a long sword sheathing itself into her chest as it pieced through the soft tissue inside out the other side.
A chocked sob caught in her gaped mouth as her chest flared out in pain the same way it did when Excalibur did the same not too long ago. She couldn't move nor speak as flurry of girlish giggles met her ears above her before the steel weapon was pulled out from her with no care leaving her lethargically knelt on the ground with no hope as blood escaped the open wound, the chill of the night air seeped through her clothes as colour drained from her face to a sickly ashen, before she was kicked onto her back by her faceless attacker, leaving the night sky above her to be the last thing she saw through the leaves and branches that hung above her.
"Better luck next time Mom".
Waking herself up from the night terror Amelia shot up from her place next to her soulmate, now wife sleeping soundly to her right as a loud gasp left her mouth as she bit down hard on her tongue to fight against the scream that wanted to escape the back of her throat. Her heart thumped in her ears as cold sweat covered her face feeling the material of the cotton shirt she wore to bed that night clinging to her body as she sought out cool her overheated body quickly as the comforter felt like a tonne on her as she pushed it off her to feel the rush of sold air find her skin.
Letting out a breath the former assassin and mother of three, slid out to sit on the edge of the mattress as she finally gained back control of herself after the nightmare.
That was a bad one.
She's afraid to admit that she's had worse nightmares in the past, but that one felt so real this time. She felt the vibration of her feet hitting the ground, her lungs burned for air trying to keep up with how hard her blood being pumped through her veins to keep her running.
Feeling movement behind her, the redhead whipped around in panic to see her love had turned over in her sleep as her hand absentmindedly reached over to her side of the bed to find her, only to land in between their pillows before the woman relaxed once afraid to sleep off the last seventy-two hours, undisturbed by her nightmare. The last thing she wanted to do was to disturb her.
It had only been twenty-four hours since they had parted ways with their darker selves and nothing had as of yet had appeared from Hyde's threat to Regina the previous day when they had returned the towns magic.
Looking at her nightstand, the former assassin found her alarm clock sat next to the newest addition of a baby monitor connected to the one in the nursery with Helen.
5:35 AM.
It was still early to be awake. For anyone else at least. But to a mother to a new-born daughter, it was the perfect time to be awake as the monitor lights flashed up as it heard Helen starting to stir in her sleep before turning into a cry.
"Melia" she heard her love groggily call out to her having been disturbed by the sound from the monitor.
"I've got her" Amelia quickly volunteered getting off the bed to tend to her daughter. Debating whether to change out of the sweat covered tank top and shorts for something more fresh, the assassin quickly opted to wrap her dressing gown around her body as the cries become louder.
Snatching the monitor up from the nightstand the redhead quickly made her way into the small-ish nursery that had appeared from nowhere in the large home to find her daughter in her crib sat in front of a window, as the net curtains let through some light from the early morning sky.
Painted and decorated with the necessary furniture, including a crib that she barely remembered picking out from the store.
The last time she had seen the room, the crib had been left lying in pieces on the floor ready to be assembled as they forgot about it from everything that was happening around them with the far wall had littered with different shades of the same neutral colour, as she and Regina tried to decide on what to go for. In the end the former Queen had gone for a dark pink to covered the four walls of the nursery that made it feel warm and welcoming.
Nearby was a rocking chair the redhead had insisted upon, for the motion not only soothed Helen but it reminded her of smooth rocking motion of the Jackdaw or Godspeed.
Stood over her crib a smile grew on her lips as she looked down to see her little girl as awake and alert as the new-born saw her as the cries died down to a quiet sniffle.
"Hey sleepy head" Amelia gently cooed to her baby girl as she picked her up from her cot she held her in her arms as she tried determining what had disturbed the baby "Someone's hungry aren't they?" she cooed further as Helen continued to fuss in her arms to find her some food.
Quietly shuffling out of the nursery she made her way downstairs carefully manoeuvring her way through the boxes Zelena left in the middle of the atrium. Another thing that had changed in their short time back, Regina had asked her if she would allow Zelena to move into the house with baby Robin to help. She reluctantly agreed at the thought of the woman being down the hall from where she and her children slept. Everything was everywhere as the witch tried her best to unpack her belongings.
Despite how little time she had spent in town and in the realm in general, the assassin was left a little confused of how much the woman had accumulated in such a short time.
She had spent twenty-eight years in Storybrooke previously before moving into the house and it took her less than a week to unpack everything. Maybe she just wasn't as sentimental about her things as her sister-in-law was. Neither less, things were starting to feel a little cramped.
The boys had to move into the younger's room while Zelena took Tom's room. Thankfully with Henry splitting himself between here, Emma's new home and his grandparents, the cramped feeling got a little easier when he spent nights away. Even more so if Tom went with him.
Shuffling into the kitchen she turned a few lights as possible as she busied herself with warming up a bottle of milk for her daughter.
Opening the fridge to retrieve a red capped bottle from the shelf before closing it only for her heart to jump into her throat for the second time that night as Zelena herself appeared behind the door with a wide toothy grin on her face making her whole body jump in fright at the sudden appearance almost making her drop the bottle in her hand.
"Good Morning" the witch happily chirped to the assassin.
"Damn it Zelena" she hissed as she tried to control her beating heart as Helen having felt her mother's sudden jerk as Helen started to cry again.
"Awww" she cooed to her niece "I see someone's woken up mummy for their early morning feed" Zelena continued over the infants cries.
"Shhhh" she tried to calm the infant in her arms, but as much as she tried to calm her down her own mind was spinning "It's okay, it's okay".
"Here, let me take her" Zelena offered with open arms only to get a hesitant look from the former assassin.
"I've got her. I've done this before" Amelia insisted as she moved around her sister-in-law to start warming the bottle.
"Yes. Alone. On a ship with twenty other men" she reminded the woman "If you hadn't noticed you're not on that god awful ship anymore".
"The ship was nice" she quickly retorted "John helped", her response only made the Witch scoff at her.
"I saw the way he held her, it's a miracle he didn't drop her on her head".
Biting her tongue the assassin refused to rise to the woman's comment about her ex's parenting skills.
"Fine. Take her" she said gently handing her daughter over to the witch despite her better instincts. Helen settled into the crook of Zelena's arms instantly calming down
"Ah there we are, see all she need was her Auntie Zelena" the witch cooed down to her niece.
"Sure, that's the reason" the assassin mumbled to herself as she busied herself with the bottle as Zelena took a seat on a stool "Where's yours anyway?".
"Sleeping soundly in her cot" she tells the assassin "She woke up earlier, I've only just got her down again, when I heard you and this little one" the witch explained as she watched the assassin closely,
She looked tired, it had only been a day since they had come back to Storybrooke after their little adventure, and their temporary incarceration, they hadn't heard much from the redheaded assassin as she spent most of the day catching up with the living, quite literally.
After finding her daughter again Regina had told her she spent most of the evening in the cemetery overseeing her own headstone and coffin being removed from the cemetery.
Somehow the assassin had become more of enigma after separating herself from the Black Widow, not saying much during dinner. The woman threw herself into caring for Helen whenever the infant made the tiniest of fuss. She saw the worry in her sister's eyes, but they just had to be patient with her, not even two day's ago they were burying her body in the ground. She had been through a lot in a few short weeks, more than anyone in a lifetime, now she had to try and go back to the person she was before the Underworld, before Camelot.
"How are you anyway, you've been a little too quiet for my sister's liking" Zelena gently broached the subject.
"Peachy keen as always" Amelia dryly retorted as she waited for the bottle to warm up.
"It's just, we haven't had a chance to talk since-".
"Your true love sending a group of assassins I killed, armed with weapons that could actually kill me, in bid to trap our family in the Underworld while he planned to rule the world to spite his baby brother" the assassin summarised to the witch as she shook the bottle in her hand "We've been a little distracted".
"Right" The witch cleared her throat awkwardly "About that..".
"Zelena" she stops the woman again "That conversation is not for six in the morning" Amelia tells her "I need at least five bottles of wine at hand another already half empty with at least an hour warning in advance to have that conversation with you" she said as she tested the warmth of the drink on her wrist.
"Then when?".
"When your niece isn't hungry" she states handing the bottle over to the witch which was gratefully taken. Helen was hungry as she tucked into her bottle with her mother watching over her with a small smile.
As she fed her niece the witches eyes flickered up to see Amelia contently watching her daughter feeding when she noticed something on her neck. It was a simple gold necklace that seemed to be held together by an arrow that sat above her collar bone. Simple yet elegant.
"What?" the assassin opposite asked her having noticed her looking at her.
"Sorry, it's just I never noticed the necklace before. Is it new?" she inquires with the assassin.
"No uh.. it's not" Amelia awkwardly answered "It was a gift".
"From whom? My sister?".
"Robin" Amelia answered the witch "It was stolen by the Merry Men it from the jewellers here shorty after we came back here the first time, when I lost my memories. It wasn't returned, so he gave it to me".
"Why don't you return it?".
"Well, I've gotten this far without anyone noticing it, so why not?" she brushed off the woman's question easily as Helen came up for breath from her feed.
What she didn't mention is that after Robin left town with is 'wife' she had bought the necklace off the jeweller three times over it original asking price to keep him from blabbing to either Sheriff's. The necklace was worth every penny she got extorted out of.
"I think your Mummy wants you now little niece" Zelena tells the infant as she hands the girl over to her mother who took her onto her shoulder to start to burp her before the next gulp of milk is drunk "I'll see you later" Zelena tells the assassin before leaving her in the kitchen.
This would be a very long week.
After getting back to bed for all of an hour before the Mill's/Montague household was awake to start the new day together. After a shower to finally get rid of the sweat from her nightmare the assassin spent too long in her and Regina's shared closet trying to put together an outfit for the day only to 'borrow' one of her love's blouses until she had time to shop for more clothes other than what she had been wearing for the last thirty years or so. She'd never been this undecisive before.
Pairing the purple blouse with leather leggings and jacket the assassin found herself with her teenage sons as she laid out every piece of the bracer Hyde had broken apart Dr. Jekyll had manged to recover for her aid out in front of her on the dining room table, with one bracer still intact and working, the other however had been left in a sorry state.
The brown leather that encompassed the mechanics of the hidden blade had been cut- brutally Amelia should add- down the middle, allowing Hyde to open the metal work the hide the small springs that made the blade extend and retract on command. Even if by some miracle she managed to fix the mechanism. The leather gauntlet would have to be replaced.
Luckily she knew she had a repair kit somewhere in her part of the vault, she just didn't fancy going through the dust and junk she would have to go through down there to get to it.
She would have to fight with just one blade for the time being, but she had always been a double blade wielder for a reason. She was useless with only one hidden blade.
As she concentrated on one side of the table, her son's sat at the other end watching her carefully slip a spring back into place as they quietly ate their breakfasts, afraid even to chew their cereal a decibel too loud in case in disturbed their mother's work.
"You could always borrow mine Mom" Tom gently broke the silence of the room opposite her.
"Thanks honey. But your gauntlets are too heavy for me. They were made for a male assassin, these were specially made for me".
"You could always use magic" Zelena's shrill voice made her jump once again in as many hours as she came in to see what she was doing with baby Robin in her arms.
"God dammit" she swore to herself before looking up at her sister-in-law "Are you trying to kill me again, because I might have something to say about this living arrangement if you are" A snort of laughter came from Tom's seat as Henry concentrated on his bowl.
"Well, if we're keeping score dearie. I'd say we're even" Zelena retorted as Regina entered the room looking between her sister and wife
"Whatever" she brushed her off "What I'm doing is trying and failing to fix my gauntlets that were savagely broken in by the lovely Mr. Hyde during our small stay in his cage".
"Then why don't you use magic to fix it, I'm sure your lovely wife would be more willing to lend a hand, even I would if you asked nicely".
"I would ask but I know it wouldn't work, they're made to repel magic, any type of magic".
"Well, that's silly" she scoffed.
"Yes as silly as that shield that protected my home for centuries before you came along" the assassin bit back at the witch. As the former Queen watched the exchanged from behind Henry's chair, she couldn't help but feel the bubble of worry enter her mind at the new living arrangements. It was only the first day and they were already bickering.
"What about that toolkit you were telling me about?" Regina interrupted the brewing argument.
"I'll go find it" Amelia said standing up from her seat "but I'm not getting in trouble if I bring back four feet of dust into the house" she said everything started to shake and a low rumble was heard above them. The lights on the ceiling shook as the blades shook side to side on the table.
"What the hell was that now?" Regina exclaimed to the ceiling. Grabbing the jacket on her chair and the one gauntlet that was still working and her family ran out of the house.
"Ten bucks it's another Chernabog" Tom said to his brother as they all look up to search for the source of the noise.
"You're on" Henry replied as a shadow came over them. a whirring sound accompanied the sight of a blimp like flying machine that went through the sky heading towards the forest.
"Please tell me we're not following that" Amelia sighed from next to her wife.
"We are" Regina tells her before looking down the street to see other's following the object in the sky "Looks like we're not the only ones".
"Zelena head back in and look after the little one's we've got this" Amelia told the witch not giving her a chance to answer as she started to follow the blimp with Henry and Tom following her.
Regina turned to her sister with an apologetic look at Amelia's request.
"I'll go back and look after the little one's then" Zelena said heading back into the large home.
The four of them were quickly joined by about half the town with Snow, David, Emma and Hook as they followed it into the forest. Snow had brought her bow and arrows with her as they kept looking up at the blimp. The redhead felt naked without the comforting weight of her gauntlets on both her arms, maybe she should have taken Tom's offer after all.
"Nice shirt" Emma's voice distracted her from their current focus as they were nearing a clearing, she noticed the outfit the assassin had finally chosen, with included Regina's blouse paired with a smart jacket and leggings that clung to her toned legs with a pair of knee high boots that allowed her to move freely.
"Thanks. I guess?".
"It's just, I've seen that shirt on Regina before" she observed out loud "Your sharing clothes now?".
"Wanted something different, and I haven't gone shopping in thirty years give or take, at least your boyfriend's gotten a haircut" she noticed the pirate's hair was now shorter and now styled more modern than it was before.
"It looks nice, the outfit I mean, its different" she went on.
"So you said" she replied "Now can we get back to the issue on hand and not my fashion sense" she tells the blonde as they climb the small incline in the clearing as Tom dropped back on the ground to re-join them. The blimp flew over them as they came to a stop in the field with everyone looking at the object.
"What in the hell is that?" David exclaimed over the noise above them.
"It's a dirigible, from The Land of Untold Stories" Dr. Jekyll informed the heroes.
"What's it doing in our town?" Snow added.
"I believe you mean my town" Mr. Hyde's voice make a shiver go up the redhead's spine as, hating herself for not being prepared for his eventual reappearance.
"This is not your town" The princess states to the man.
"Oh, tell that to the Dark One. He gave it to me. Now, if you'll excuse me, I must prepare for my friends' arrival" Hyde turned to leave as the saviour looked to the Queen to what to do next, they could let him reach that dirigible.
"Regina?" Emma whispered over to her friend.
"Emma. My evil half is gone. I don't know how strong I am" Regina quietly tells the saviour uncertainly.
Rolling her eyes Amelia slips away from the heroes that goes unnoticed by the pair as they continue their next course of action.
"Evil did not make you strong" Emma tells her "Let's do this" Emma replies before gaining Hyde's attention.
"Hey! Muttonchops!" throwing their hands out towards the man streams of white and scarlet magic leave the two women onto the man. He starts groaning out in pain only for the groaning to turn into laughter before he easily steps away the magic as it crashes on the ground behind him making dry dirt explode into the air.
"A word of advice... do be careful" as he finished the sound of something cutting through the air is pair with Hyde catching a small knife mere inches away from hitting his eye.
"Maybe you need to be a bit more careful round here" Amelia started stepping out of her hiding place taking her family by surprise having just seen her next to them, "The last person who tried to take over the town, we ended up disagreeing".
"Ahhh Amelia" he drawled the corner of his lips twitching up "I had hoped I'd see you again so soon" a smile grew on the mans face at her appearance "You assassins have a knack of making an appearance" he drawls out to her.
"Thanks" she drawled to the man "I'll be sure to take it as a compliment as I throw you into a jail cell myself".
The threat only made the man chuckle in amusement. She wasn't the woman she was when he first face her
"Why don't you come here and tell me that? Assassin" he goaded her.
"I'll do a little more than that Hyde".
Pushing her feet forward into a sprint, the seasoned assassin flicked out her single hidden blade out, the man didn't even flitch as she swung her arm out, aiming straight for the centre of his chest, for his heart before all movement was halted as he felt a strong hand grasp her arm and one wrapped around her throat, feeling it tighten.
"You assassin's" he breathed out like he was bored "So predictable" he adds before she was swung around in such a way that she ended up on her knee's facing her family as he continued to hold her right arm in his hand with his other hand still wrapped around her neck as the blade remained unsheathed completely in his control as he looked up at the blade almost in awe.
"Melia!" "Lia!" "Mom!" the crowd exclaimed as they watch in horror. Quickly notching an arrow in her bow the former Princess turned bandit aimed straight for Hyde's head as Emma and Regina held their hand out ready to use their magic again, but the hesitation came seeing that they would hit Amelia long before it could touch Hyde again.
"Let her go now!" Snow demanded out of the man as Hook struggled to keep Tom from jumping forward and endangering himself in pursuit of saving his mother. A battle he was nearly losing as Henry and David had to step in, as he fought off the pirates hold.
"The Brotherhood's hidden blades have always been a fasciation of mine" Hyde tells the assassin in his hold "And you've taken great care in them" he observes from the clean blade "Still as sharp as the day it was made" he continued turning her hand and arm around keeping it from relaxing.
"Lets test it shall we?" he went on as he forced her arm down leaving her to cry out as she used all her strength to push back only for the tip of her own hidden blade to appear in her eyeline before it was pushing further until the cool steel touched her cheek, it's edge easily cutting into the delicate skin on her face before the man viciously pulled her arm back making the blade cut into her cheek, she felt it drag down her face diagonally leaving a bloody cut in it's path, a pained sob escaping the redheads lips as it felt like forever until the blade left her skin.
"Mom!" she heard Tom call out to her as she felt herself being pulled back onto her feet to face her family only to see her son break away from David and Hook as he stood in front of his step-mother and Emma to face the man who held his mother "Get off her!" he demands from Hyde.
The demand only made a chuckle leave Hyde's lips at the boys attempt to save his mother "You send a child to do a hero's job" Hyde seethes into Amelia's ear as she tries to tell her son to run "You must be desperate. Pathetic" he growls before carelessly throwing her like a ragdoll towards the teenager.
Meeting his mother on the ground the teenage assassin throws down to aide his mother as Hyde looks to the others.
"Looks like your Widow's lost her bite" he addressed the crowd "Nothing more dangerous than an untold story, and the people who don't want them told" Hyde tells them as an explosion is heard above them distracts the crowd as they heard the blimp's engine start to groan in failure before it disappears behind treetops in the distance.
Looking back, they see Hyde had disappeared as fast as he appeared as the hero's of Storybrooke rush forward to see to their fallen assassin motionless on the ground.
"Melia!" Regina yelled as she knelt to see Amelia on her back with her eyes closed and the deep cut on her left cheek bleeding heavily and the shape of a hand started to appear in a bruise around her pale neck.
"Is she okay?" Snow voiced her concern as she looked down to see the assassin's wife quickly heal the deep cut on her face with a gentle wave of her hand.
"She's breathing" Regina reported to the others as continued her healing down to her neck.
"What the hell happened?" Emma voiced the question on her mind looking to Regina for the answer "Why couldn't she touch him?". She'd never been so easily beaten by anyone.
"I have no idea" she tells the blonde as she tries to wake her sleeping wife "Maybe she's weaker somehow now that the Widow's gone" she theorised in concern.
"The Widow didn't make her strong" Snow quickly came to the redheads defence "She was strong long before she become the Widow" she agued to her former step-mother.
The former Queen had to nod in agreement, she took on an entire group of mercenaries by herself with no help from her or a young Snow White.
"That doesn't matter" Emma voiced to the group "Maybe Hyde is just too strong for her".
"Aye I agree" Hook spoke up remembering his tight grip around his neck in the cage.
Snow was saved an explanation when Amelia's eye's fluttered open, feeling her head thumping against her skull as her vision blurred seeing figures above her, they started to focus to see everyone above her watching her every move
"Please tell me no one kissed me" Amelia's strained voice came from the ground. A sigh of relief escaped the groups breath as a relieved chuckle left the former Queen as she helped her wife sit up off the ground.
"Give her some space" David advised the others as took a step back for the assassin to recover while Tom stayed put next to his mother, sitting up on the ground as she pinched her nose trying to stop her head from spinning.
"Melia?" she hears her wife next to her.
"He beat me" she exasperated to herself "How is that even possible?".
"Hey, it's okay, it took us by surprise as well" Emma tried to reassure the redhead.
"I should've seen that coming" Amelia rambled on almost incoherently as ignored Emma's reassurance. She'd been trained not make mistakes like that, she left the other's to face him alone like she was trying to prove something
"It was a mistake, easy to make"
"I should've seen it coming though!" she snaps as the saviours words only made her more angrier at herself for leaving herself open like that.
"Mom, its okay" Tom voiced to her hoping he would be able to calm her down, reaching out to take her hand, the redhead quickly snatched her hand away stopping her son from touching her as she continued to silently berate herself for being so stupid.
"Tom why don't you take your Mom home" Snow suggested to the teenager "She looks tired".
"No. No I'm not going anywhere" the assassin objected to being sent home, just when Hyde had finally made his appearance and there were more people
"Lia" Snow sighed out in frustration.
"I think she's right this time dear" Regina tells her wife "Or at least go to the vault get something to help with your head" she continued.
"No" she snaps at the dark brunette, much to the latter's surprise as she blinked at her in bewilderment. She'd been like this since coming home.
"You heard Hyde" she says pushing herself off the ground, she lost her footing slightly as the other's followed her before she found her balance again "There were people in that thing, I want to find out these 'friends' of his".
She didn't give her family much of a chance to stop her as she headed towards the direction of the dirigible as Tom followed her, not knowing what else to do but to.
The heroes of Storybrooke easily found the crashed dirigible finding its broken pieces of the machine leading up to where it eventually fell onto the ground between tree trunks.
Emma was the first to climb into the machine to look for survivors leaving the rest outside as Snow and Amelia had ventured away from the group as they looked for any sign of anyone that came from the Land of Untold Stories, finding tracks in the dirt leading away from the crash site. But what took the assassin's interest were the healthy green leaves that fallen onto the ground.
The season wasn't right for them to start falling and the tree's around them were more than healthy, it didn't explain why they would be on the ground with the tracks she and Snow had already found.
"Nobody in here" Emma reports to her family and friends as she comes out of the machine.
"Where the hell is everyone?" David asks aloud with his hands on his hips.
"Somewhere out in the forest" Snow answers his question as she stands beside a crouched down Amelia with a fresh leaf in her hand, examining the object carefully "It's hard to tell exactly how many people there are, but look. From the spacing of their steps, they were running".
"Some of them took to the trees. Look" she instructs the princess pointing towards the floor where healthy green leaves had fallen onto the forest floor as she stands back up straight the pair turn back to the others "The leaves on the ground. It's too early for them to fall off naturally. A few must've fallen off if a person or person's should run on them, especially on the weaker branches".
"Who would know how to do that?" Emma asked the redhead.
"Assassins have been free running on branches for centuries, it's one of the first things we learn. It's easy to hide and a great vantage point for a surprise attack or to run. And people are less likely to look up when their trying to catch someone" she explained discarding the leaf back onto the ground as she stood back up straight.
"More Assassins?" David asked the redhead peaking everyone's attention "Can you track them?".
The question only made the assassin shake her head at him "We're good at hiding our own tracks, even those who specialise in tracking find it hard to track other Assassins. Why do you think it took the Widow more than a decade to find my old family? We don't leave a trail to be found. Especially if we're hiding".
"Great what we need more" Hook drawled out looking at the redhead "Assassins that can kill us in our sleep" he deadpanned at her.
"That only happened once" the redhead grumbled to herself.
"Now they're out there, scattered" Snow continued the conversation "What does Hyde want with them?" she looked to the good doctor for the answer.
"It's hard to tell" Dr. Jekyll started "Depending on who he brought with him, these stories playing out could create chaos".
"Well, that's helpful" Regina commented.
"But all may not be lost. You recall the orderly's baton we used to subdue Hyde in our realm?"
"Vividly" Amelia blinked at the man, recalling the bolt of electricity that hit her in the Land of Untold Stories. She still felt the tremors in New York.
"Well, that same technology made the dirigible. With the wreckage, I may be able to scavenge what I need to make a weapon that could work on him. It is the only thing I've ever seen that can bring him down.
"Well let's get salvaging" the group dispersed around the crash site to find anything that would help Jekyll to re-create the electric baton his orderly used to try and subdue the man.
Amelia followed her wife over to a small pile of rumble only for a suddenly loud clang to make the Assassin freeze in place as a series of visions came to her mind.
It was her fighting off the figure that had plagued her dreams that previous night, instead of running she was fighting the figure one on one with her father's sabres in their hands the swords meeting in the middle again and again until the figures blade ended up in her belly making her gasp as her wife's voice brought her out of the vision.
"Melia?" a look of concern and worry etched her face as she felt a supportive hand on her upper arm "What's wrong?".
Pulling herself out of the former Queen's reach she tried to calm down her heart afraid Regina could hear it from where she stood as a shaky breath left her lips.
"I uh, I should head to the uh vault. I need another weapon, one gauntlet isn't enough" she stammered out taking steps away from the woman.
"Are you sure? I can go with you" she offered taking a step towards her.
"No!" the red head accidently yells at her wife making her stop gaining everyone's attention for a second "I'm sorry, I'll go, get some air".
"O-okay" Regina stammered "Are you sure everything's okay? You can tell me".
Now she felt guilty. But this was something she had to sort out herself. Hyde had completely thrown her off balance. And now she was having visions along with the dreams. Something was wrong. She just wasn't sure what.
"I'm fine" she lies through her teeth "I'm fine" she made herself say to herself before leaving the crash site to find her head.
While her wife went to find something for her head in their vault Regina decided to venture home to check up on her sister with the infants. Stepping into the house, the mess from before was worse than before as she heard one of the baby's crying.
"Zelena?" the brunette called out to her older sister as something dropped from the living room with a thud making her hurry towards the sound only for Zelena to appear in the doorway of the living room with little Robin in her arms making her jump.
"Regina! Welcome to the madhouse" Zelena greeted her half-sister with a wide grin.
"What is going on?" she asked her eye glancing over the number of boxes that seemed to have appeared to the small crib to see Helen in her yellow baby grow sound asleep despite the chaos around her.
"I'm just unpacking. What's happening out there?" the redhead asks comforting her daughter.
"Rumple handed the town over to Hyde" she informs her sister.
"Say, sounds like it's time for a showdown, doesn't it, sweetness?" Zelena coos down to her daughter as she crosses over to the crib Helen was in to place Robin next to her "Hmm? Now have a nice nap with your cousin while Mummy helps barbecue mean old Mr. Hyde".
"Uh, you should... stay here" Regina quickly suggests to her sister picking up a blanket from the floor "Hyde is impervious to whatever I throw at him, Melia can't even get close to him. So we have to play defence".
Zelena scoffs at her sister's suggestion "Well, you kept me in worse prisons".
"I've said I was sorry about that" the younger of two quickly tells her "And I'm sure Amelia feels the same way. Deep down" she continues.
"I'm joking" the witch tells her "Seriously, you've both opened up your home to us, so for as long as we're here, I'm... I'm so grateful".
"It'll be good for us" Regina nodded along.
"Oh!" Zelena suddenly exclaims jumping towards one of the boxes near Regina's feet "I've got something for you. Well for Amelia actually" she corrected herself "Roland gave me something of Robin's that he wanted to give to her. I think It might cheer her up a tad".
"Really?" Regina chuckles nervously. Of course she sensed something wasn't right with her love. She was being distant more than usual. Her actions just that morning were odd. Maybe this little piece of Robin would help her move forward.
"Yeah, it was, um, it's a feather from one of his arrows" she continued moving back into the living room in search of the item "So sweet. I think he forgot she d…" Zelena stopped herself from completing the sentence, looking nervously at her sister as she straightened up. They hadn't quiet chatted about her part she had in her eventual demise.
Her older sister assisting King Arthur in Amelia's capture in Camelot. Chaining her up like a dog in the forest before Arthur plunged one half of Excalibur into her chest. That's something she doesn't think she would ever forget.
"Died?" Regina supplied for her sister with a tense smile "Yes. I remember".
"You know what? I, um... I remember now. I put it away somewhere extra specially safe".
Regina takes in a deep breath before laughing at her sister "Don't even worry about it. A-A little chaos is normal. I'm just going to put a protection spell around the house and over the vault and... and you can... find the feather?".
"I'll find it" Zelena promises her "So... you're not angry?".
"Mnh" she keeps her lip closed "'Course not".
She needed to find something, anything that explained these sudden dreams and life like visions. On her hands and knees Amelia riffled through pages and pages of codex that would explain something. Her mind kept spinning as she could not focus on the letters and figures that had been written down for centuries undisturbed until they had been stuffed into boxes from the library and taken to her vault for safe keeping months ago.
But she couldn't think straight, not for a second, her mind jumped from thought to thought as she flipped through page after page before letting out a huff of frustration as she dropped the codex's on the ground in exasperation as she made herself stop and breathe.
She needed to focus. What was the most pressing issue to her at that very moment?.
Looking down at her only working gauntlet that was used against her net even an hour ago. She needed a working pair, even if they weren't hers. Turning around the headed to the cabinet that held the possessions of her former Brotherhood, including their robes and weapons.
Now with Tybalt's draw completely empty having given his things to MJ as an olive branch. She found Ophelia's below his, sliding it out to see her old set of purple robes that doubled as a dress with her gauntlets sitting on top of them.
Quickly sliding them on her forearms and making the necessary adjustments gauntlet ended after the four silver knuckle guards. Its dark leather and bronze metals mix blend well together as she flicked her wrist up for the sharp blade to jump out of its hidden sheath. The gauntlets really required a glove to be worn underneath but she didn't have the time nor the patience as she heard her name being called out from down the hall.
"Melia?" her soulmates voice echoed down the hall making the assassin quickly sliding the draw closed to stand straight and brushing the dirt and dust from her clothes.
"Down here!" she yelled back, in time for the sound heels to quickly appear in the doorway as she saw the mess, she had made with the codex pages.
"Well, I see you've been busy down here" she dryly told her wife not impressed with the mess she had left "And here I thought you were getting some air" the suspicious tone in her voice made the redhead quickly think of something.
"I did. I wanted to see if there anything to help me fix my gauntlets".
Regina raised an eyebrow on her as she placed a hand on her hip as her suspicion rose again "And yet there's a pair on your arms right now" she observed outload.
"Ophelia's" she quickly answered her wife's question holding them out in front of her "I need pair that actually worked in case any of Hyde's 'friends' are a little less then friendly".
"Oh, well they do seem a little…vintage for your taste but seeing as you struggled to even find something to wear today" she admitted to her wife glancing at her own blouse that the assassin wore "I'm not really sure where you are these days if I'm being honest. Since we came back from New York, you've been. Distant" she gulped out the last word.
Hearing this made the assassin's guilt welt up in her stomach, she knew she had been distant, she'd been snappy and impatient. Everything she can't be as she and Regina were trying to find themselves again without their darker selves. This was a whole new world to them and they needed to be a team now more than ever.
But how could she tell her the truth if she didn't even know what was going on. A half truth is better than a complete lie at this stage.
"I'm sorry" she whispered gently "Everything's just a little different since I was last here. And my mind is spinning so fast I don't know what's up or down. I guess I'm trying to catch up still".
"It's not every day you come back to life as well as destroying the worst half of yourself within hours" Regina huffed out trying to control her emotions wanting to bring up a subject that still be sensitive with the assassin "Is this about Robin?".
She didn't need a verbal answer from her love when she saw the pained expression flashed through her loves face at the mention of the thief. The redhead was trying not to think about him, but it always seemed useless as all her thoughts kept drifting towards the man she parted ways with in the Underworld's version of the library.
The guilt that laid heavy of her mind, had gotten worse since leaving New York, of letting him trust her. Her heart ached for the thief that kept her better half afloat for so many years, so it wouldn't drown in the darkness that was the Black Widow. Now the man could never move on.
She remembered the promise Persephone gave her before she fell into the pit. That's who she was speaking about. A part of her wanted to believe that a god would be able to save him, but even God's have their limitations.
And to add salt into her wounds. Little John had take little Roland back to the Enchanted Forest along with John and Anastasia.
That stung more that she wanted to admit. But she couldn't blame them. This wasn't a way to live. Just waiting for the next person to come along to disrupt everything. Sometimes she wished she had that luxury.
"If it helps" Regina continues "Zelena's been trying to find something that Roland wanted to give you before he left" she tells her making her perk up in interest.
"He did?" a small smile grew on her face at the thought of the small boy she loved like her own.
"Yes" the former Queen beamed seeing the way she reacted "A feather off one of Robin's arrows, Zelena was going to give it to me since you were already..".
"Buried" she finished for the former Queen "It's not a bad word" she tells her.
"Still... It's odd to say out loud" she says before getting back on topic "Anyway, my sister says she put it somewhere special to keep safe, she just needs to find it".
"Have you seen the number of boxes on the foyer alone?" Amelia scoffed at her.
"She might surprise you after all" Regina told her with an edge of optimism in her voice, but she was only met by silence as saw doubt etched her eye's "Also I was hoping to get a moment alone with you" the brunette continued, reaching into her jacket pocket "I wanted to give you something".
Amelia's eyes watched the former Queen's hand take out an envelope that she instantly made her heart jump down into her stomach "I found the letter you sent Robin while in New York".
"Oh" was all Amelia had to say as her hand slipped out of her wife's. it was her last-ditch attempt to hear something from the man since calling or texting wasn't working.
"Robin kept it in that book you bought for him. Emma convinced me to read it" she confessed to the assassin.
"So? There isn't anything in it you don't already know" she said before turning her back on her wife turning her attention back to the codex's starting to tidy them away back in the drawer "He didn't even reply, so you have nothing to worry about" dismissing the subject.
"He did" Regina admitted to the redhead making the latter visibly tense up "And I read it" turning around she saw a different envelope in her wife's hand, this one she clearly saw it was addressed to her.
"And uh what was the Saviours reasonings to doing that exactly?" Regina heard the hurt in her voice.
"Not her's. Mine" she corrected the redhead "I needed to know what he wrote back".
"If you already know what he wrote back why are you even bothering to tell me".
"Because you're hurting. Whether you want to admit it or not, you're grieving. Melia you can't even go into my office. You need to read it. So, you can start finding some sort of closure".
That word. Closure. The word made her teeth uncomfortably clench together.
"Closure?" Amelia scoffed out at her wife "Is that what you call finding your friend buried in a grave near your own?".
Regina looked dumbfounded at her wife at the anger that was bubbling at the surface "Melia, I didn't tell you about it to start a fight".
"Then why did you tell me; I was perfectly fine without knowing. Did you want me to say that I loved him, because I did, I still do and it hurts".
"I'm telling you because I love you" Regina quickly interjected which seemed to help the former assassin's sudden anger simmer "Because you have a right to know that he loved you back and that he wrote the letter despite knowing he shouldn't, because it would hurt you and the future you were trying to build with me"
"Then why didn't he send it?" her voice cracked a it was ready to be sent out addressed with a stamp in the corner. All he had to do was to post it.
Regina gently shook her head taking a step towards the redhead before stopping a foot away "I don't know" she really didn't. It wasn't something that would make the woman up and leave Storybrooke for good to find him.
Placing the envelope on a nearby surface the assassin watched the item like it was about to jump out at her and attack her.
"At least take it, you don't have to read it now, but when you're ready, just know I'll be there when you do".
"Thank you" her scratchy voice told her love.
"Your Welcome" the former Queen replied with a grateful smile "Whatever it is you're looking for, you better hurry. I need to seal this place up from Hyde".
"Go ahead, I'm done anyway. There's nothing else down here I need".
Without looking back the former Assassin walked past her wife toward the exit of the vault leaving Robin's response behind where the former Queen had left it.
Okay.
Now she was mad.
Amelia was long gone by the time Regina made her own way out of the vault. Her magic pulsated against the mausoleum doors as she let out the frustration, she felt from both her sister and now her soulmate.
She knew things would be difficult for the pair of them once they returned back home, but she didn't expect for Amelia to close up so quickly like she has. She was at a loss of what to do, except from tying her wife up in the vault until she talked about how she was feeling. That was Plan B.
She was caught up in her thoughts when Snow's voice came behind her as the final protection spell was put up.
"Looks safe and sound to me" the younger woman tells her former step-mother making her turn around.
"Hyde's not getting into my vault" Regina tells her.
"Well, we may not have to worry about him anymore" Snow tells her "Jekyll finished his weapon".
"Oh. Handy one. Eager to defeat his better half, is he?".
"Yeah, he is. How are you dealing with that... the whole 'destroying your evil half' thing?".
"I'm fine" she laughs out "Better than fine. It's... Did I mention I'm fine?".
"Well, something's bothering you" Snow easily saw though the older woman façade.
"All right, yes. Something is gnawing at me" she admits to the younger woman "Something with red hair and a fondness for pointy hats".
"Your sister?".
"Look, this may sound petty, but Roland gave her something of Robin's to give to Amelia, and she already lost it. A feather from his arrow".
"Uhh..so this is about Lia" the princess easily deduced making the former Queen rolled her eye's at the woman intuitive "I know you. This isn't about a feather".
"I don't know what it's about. Melia's been…different since coming back. I've tried to get her to open up, but she just shuts me down. Other than tying her up and forcing it out of her… I'd think she'd enjoy it too much" a small quirk of her eyebrow.
Snow blinked at the woman in front of her at the small piece of information "Well…" she drawled "whatever it is, just talk to her about it. Put it out in the open, help her deal with her pain".
"Maybe" Regina tells her stiffly "But right now, let's get Hyde the hell out of town".
"Oh, don't avoid this" Snow warned her as they start to walk away from the mausoleum.
"I'm not. But you of all people should know. Heroism comes first".
Finding the rest of her family and friends already outside the town hall she found out that Dr. Jekyll had completed a replica of the orderly's electric baton ready to go as they waited for Snow to return with her stepmother. Mr. Hyde was currently taking residence in the mayor's office, a place she hadn't had the heart to step into ever since returning knowing the room would only feel like death.
Watching the windows carefully as she saw a twitch in the window before he peeked through to look straight at her, thankfully not giving the others a thought as Snow and Regina finally appeared while Emma held the weapon that would take Hyde down long enough to get him in cuffs.
With Regina joining them they were ready to go when the redhead stood in front of the good Doctor before they went ahead with their plan. It was time to play villain.
"Emma? Ready?" the former Queen called out to the saviour with the electric baton as the former Black Widow grabbed Dr. Jekyll by his arm to drag him out to the front of the town hall as the former Queen followed them with elegant strides of a monarch to face the man inside.
The doctor 'struggled' against the assassin's hold as came to stop just outside the front door with her soulmate joining her, taking a place on Jekyll's other side.
"Mr. Hyde!" Amelia bellowed towards the building to get attention, using her theatrical side to full use "Why don't come out and take what you really want?" she continued "Or shall I deprive you the pleasure you seek and let my lovely wife kill him herself?".
Flicking out the hidden blade, the assassin held up against the Doctor's throat as he strained back to get away from the weapon that she had fallen victim to earlier.
"Or better yet, I get to test out my new blades on him? Their former owner was wearing them when I killed her in Wonderland".
At the threat Hyde stormed out of the building to meet the couple and his other side outside.
"Regina. Amelia" he purred at the sight of the redhead "I see you've recovered from our earlier alteration".
Instead letting her wife reply Regina took over the conversation "Here's what's going to happen. Leave town, and Jekyll is all yours".
"The problem is, my work is here... in Storybrooke, and it's only just beginning. So how about I alter the deal?" he starts as Amelia pushes the doctor behind her as Hyde steps closer to them with his arms crossed over his chest "I take Jekyll and keep Storybrooke, and you avoid embarrassing yourself, because while everyone was afraid of the Queen and her Widow, you... not quite as much"
"No deal" the redhead growled as Regina summoned a ball of fire into her hand sending it into Hyde.
"Emma!" Amelia tried to prompt the blonde hiding in the bushes with the weapon poised and ready as both her hidden blades hissed out of out of her new gauntlets, stepping forward the assassin went to attack only to freeze in place as she felt her heart pounding in her head so loud it felt like drums, her hand shook as her mind and body was telling her to run, to get as far as she could away from him.
She was scared. Hyde had made her scared.
"Emma!" Regina called out this time before Hyde wrapped his hand around her own neck.
"Emma!" her love's voice seemed to snap them both out of the vision as the blonde fired the baton aimed at Hyde a bolt of lighting striking the man sending him flying into a nearby parked car as her Queen winced out in pain holding her neck as Dr. Jekyll, David and Hook ran over to restrain the man in handcuffs as he laid out dazed and confused on the bonnet of the car.
"Regina" Amelia called to her love catching her shoulders to help her back up straight.
"Are you okay?" her Queen nodded her head before the redhead wound her arms around her wife in a comforting embrace which was reciprocated. The redhead held onto her Queen as long as she could before Snow and Emma's appearance interrupted the moment.
"Are you okay?" the pixie haired princess asked her friend.
"Is something wrong? Why did you hesitate?" Regina asked the saviour as they made their way over to the captured Hyde.
"Nothing's wrong. I'm fine" she tells them.
"Are you really, Saviour?" Hyde weakly said getting the women's attention as he was manhandled by Hook and David.
"Shut up "Emma retorted at him "You're our prisoner now".
"Ignore him, Emma" Snow tried to tell her daughter.
"Yes, ignore me... just like your tremors and your nightmares" he looked at the assassin at the last word, the mention made her stop and look at him. He knew what was happening.
"Wait. Wait. Wha... what do you know?" Emma questioned him as she followed him being dragged away by her father and boyfriend.
"More than you. If you wish to learn what's been happening to you both, you know where to find me" that was the last thing he said to them before he was forced into the back of the car and driven away.
Sitting outside townhall alone on a bench facing the building, the redheaded assassin stared out the place she had avoiding since returning from New York. She would have to do it eventually, she just wasn't ready yet. She'd never be ready to step into the room her friend's was last alive in. The same room he once told her he was still in love with her while his 'wife' was frozen.
"Amelia!" a new voice broke her train of thought as the assassin looked up to see Archie walking by with Pongo on a leash, making their way towards her.
"Hey Archie" she greets the man as the Dalmatian excitedly reached the assassin first as he jumps up at the woman his front paws landing on her knees' as she leans forward to make a fuss of the dog.
"Pongo! Hey!" she couldn't help the bubble of laughter that escaped her lips as she made a fuss of the dog. She loved animals. She would often play with the cat that lived on the Jackdaw when it wasn't hunting for mice. Sometimes she would often find it sleeping in her cot with her. Even received a scolding from some of the cremates for feeding her scraps from the kitchen fearing she would grow too fat to hunt the vermin that hid in the vessel.
Pongo usually sat with her during a session, Archie quickly observed how calm she was with animals.
"What are you two doing here?" she asks the man as the Dalmatian jumped off her "This isn't your usual route".
"Well, I thought we'd try a different route today" he tells her joining her on the bench as Pongo sat between them.
"Regina sent you didn't she?" the redhead quickly deduced.
"Yeah" he admitted to her "She's been a little worried about you Amelia. We all have. She thought it might be easier for you talk to a..".
"A cricket?" she interrupted him.
"A friend" he supplied.
"Sorry" she meekly apologised to the man "No offence I'm not in the right mood for session at the moment".
"I've found it's usually when people need it the most. You've been fighting bad guy's including yourself for years without a break. When you first came to me wanting to change, you had these walls around you. But since then, with Henry, Tom and Regina. Those walls have come down".
"You said that was a good thing" she points out to the man.
"Of course it is. But it also let in all the collateral damage of all that fighting".
"You mean Robin" she easily guessed.
"Yes. And Neal, and your friends you lost back home. And everything that happened to you in Camelot" the mere mention of Camelot made the assassin tense up as she remained silent not wanting to show the man how much that place still affected her. She'd died twice, once by King Arthur and by Emma in order to 'save her'.
"Amelia you've died three times in the last few weeks" he tells her bluntly, knowing no one else would be so frank with her "No one, not even someone as strong willed as you could come back the same person you were before".
"How do I fix all that?" she asks the man "How do I find the person I am after Camelot?".
"With time" he answers her "And some hard work".
"Can't you just give me a pill or something this time. It's not like I'm breastfeeding".
"When it comes to facing out biggest problems. Amelia there are no shortcuts, you know that already".
She did know. She knew that from the second she stepped into the training ring. She was constantly reminded that she wouldn't be good at something right away, it took years and months of training to make her into the Master Assassin she was. She worked day and night to be considered good enough for the rank of Master Assassin.
But that rank didn't matter when she faced the Black Widow in that arena. She was just Amelia then, and she had to rely someone to save her in order to come back to the living.
"I think that's the problem Archie" she choked back the tears that threatened to fall "I already took that shortcut" standing on her feet the Assassin left the man and his dog on the bench, the redhead headed to the room she never wanted to step back into.
She was told all the details from Snow when they were stuck in Hyde's cell, but being in the actual building it happened. She wasn't ready for what was waiting for her.
She'd always been sensitive to when she came across an area someone had been killed, she dismissed the aura that lingered over a place. But this was so much different this time, it was a place someone she had loved so much die. But she needed to do it. She needed to grieve for her friend. The man who had always made her feel like he was always there when she needed him the most. Now she was alone. Sure, she had Regina. But that's not the same. She could see she was trying to fit into that Robin sized hole that was left in her heart but, she needed to fill it herself.
Her feet stopped at the threshold of the office as her stomach started to twist uncomfortably telling her to turn around and walk away. The room was deadly silent as she forced a foot over the threshold, suddenly feeling the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end as she was attracted to one spot in particular to the right of her.
In front of the long table was where her friend lost his life. the floor was spotless to the untrained eye to look at, but she could see the stain left behind as her tears finally left her eyes. The stain was all that was left of her closest friend in all the realms.
This was his end of the line and she wasn't even here to stop it. Or at least fight it.
"I heard we got Hyde" a voice she had been dreading to hear stepped through the door as she wiped away the tears from her eyes. She wouldn't let that woman see her at her worst, not now, not ever "I thought it would take weeks and weeks of battles and twists and turns, and... here you go doing it Day 1. Kudos to you, sis in law".
"Yeah. We got him" her stained voice cracked through her emotions as she quickly glanced at the Wicked Witch stood across from her, only to quickly look away again to stop her from seeing her in a vulnerable state.
Only it was too late, the woman saw the tearful eyes the assassin was trying to hold back "What's wrong?" she asked her.
"This is the first time I've been back here... since Robin died" she forced herself to say taking in a deep breath "I need a minute".
"What?".
"This is just hard" she swallowed the words down as she rubbed the back of her neck in comfort as more tears threatened to fall.
"I know. I lost someone here, too" she reminded the assassin. Hades had met his demise just where Zelena stood.
"Zelena, I'm sorry, but please just leave me alone" Amelia pleaded with her.
"Shouldn't we be helping each other? We are family now".
Smiling to herself looking up to the ceiling like she was pleading for higher power to give her strength to correct the witch.
"No" the word left her lips before she could stop herself as her head shook side to side, before looking back at the woman "No, were not" she said shaking her head side to side as she folds her arms across her chest.
"Why not?" Zelena awkwardly chuckled to herself as Amelia took a step towards her sister-in-law.
"Because..." she paused "I blame you. Every time I look at you, I-I blame you for what happened".
It was possibly the first honest thing she had said the whole day, it tasted bitter on her tongue to say the least.
"Me?!" Zelena exclaimed at the assassin in disbelief "What about Emma? She dragged your wife to Hell!".
"You think I wanted you all down there?" she snapped at the witch making her quiet "If it been up to me, none of you would be down there and I'd still be in my old family's hands being tortured for hours, but you know what?" she paused as sickly grin grew on her face as her voice went down to a whisper "It had been so worth it. Because I made that choice to kill myself in the end. Me alone. Not yours, not King Arthurs. Not Emma's. Mine!" she yelled out the last word making Zelena flinch back.
A guilty face etched the witches face as she looked to her feet remembering how Amelia came to be killed the first time, she helped the man capture her, only for her to be revived and killed again and again.
"But you know what the real punch to your face is, sis?" she hissed at her.
"What?" Zelena sniped at her bringing her head back up to make eye contact.
"I blame myself just as much for letting go of all my instincts that were telling me to not trust you and Hades. Because you deserved the second chance your sister and I got. You deserved it and it makes me sick to my stomach" she told her with venom lasing her words "I trusted you. And because of that, Robin's soul was obliterated! And all I want to do now is crawl into a ball and die, so I can at least see him again more, time and beg for his forgiveness. But I can't! Because of you!".
"Want to talk about trust?" Zelena finally replied after Amelia's speech "Okay. Let's talk about trust. You let my sister make the biggest decision in her life, ripping out the evil part of her, and she just went to you before coming to your own flesh and blood".
"Why do you even care?!".
"She ripped out the part of her that was most like me!" she suddenly yelled at her sister-in-law, stunning the assassin into silence.
"I don't know what you want me to say to that".
"My daughter and I will be out by tonight" green smoke emerged from the floor encasing the wicked witch as she disappeared from the office, leaving the assassin clench her jaw as small, heeled footsteps made themselves known to the assassin, closing her eyes she couldn't even look her wife in the eye as she stood alone in the middle of the room, she had heard everything she had told her sister.
She braced herself for the argument that was coming, for the harsh words, maybe even a slap, because its what she deserved. She drove Zelena away only when she wanted the pair to be sisters, like she and Anastasia had been after so long apart.
She'd bottled her feeling up so much it erupted on the one person she needed to keep close to her to help her heal and now she had ruined it. She couldn't even blame the Widow this time.
She had just heard her admitting she wanted to die. That's something no spouse should ever hear their partner say outload.
Heeled steps closed the distance until she felt Regina's presence in front of her as she refused to open her eyes "I'm sorry" she softly whispered to the dark brunette "I'm so sorry" her voice became louder as the tears left her eye's. Regina quickly gathered the redhead in a comforting embrace holding her as tight as she could as the walls came crumbling down as she clung to her pushing her face into her shoulder.
"We'll get through this" Regina mumbles into her hair as she held her love tight "We'll get though this" she repeated to her love. They would have to.
Continuing their search for the passengers from the dirigible, from The Land of Untold Stories, Snow and David, along with Hook and Emma searched through the woods long after the sun had set. Splitting to cover ground the royal couple took to the South while their daughter and her boyfriend took the North for any sign of the people that had been brought here against their will.
"Okay, keep looking" David tell his daughter on the other end of the phone call before he hung up the call "That was Emma and Hook. No sign of Hyde or Hyde's friends on the North Side".
"It's getting dark" she observes outload in concern for their search It's not going to get any easier" she goes on as the darkness would eventually stop them altogether from finding the passengers.
"Wait, wait, wait" her true love quickly stops her as she freezes a metre away from a trap he had seen even in the darkness. Finding a small log the former Prince threw it on the camouflaged netting, triggering large-ish net to snap up into the air, disturbing the leaves that had covered it.
"Hmm. Amateurs" she tells her truelove, knowing Amelia would've used a different word to describe the trap "They were in a hurry" she easily guesses as she sees a clearing only lit by the moonlight that shone down from the night sky. "They're hiding because they're scared. They don't know they can trust us".
Stepping onto a tree stump the former Princess addresses the passengers she knew that were hiding nearby "Hello?!" she called out to them knowing they wouldn't be far. "My name is Snow White. You can trust me" she tells them, but it wasn't enough, there was one reason they were hiding "Hyde is locked up. He can't hurt you. The people in our town want to help".
The fist signs of life came in the form of dark figure emerging from the foliage with torches of fire in their hands " Snow. Look" David whispered to his wife seeing the figures in the distance
"Forgive them!" A voice they didn't know yelled back at them as they saw a lone figure holding up a torch high above their head walk towards them. As they drew closer to the royal couple they saw the white robe and hood the bearded man wore. Similar to the one's Amelia had worn her whole life, before coming to a stop a foot or two away from them.
"We have been through a lot getting to this land" he tells them "Ahlan" (Hello) he greets the pair holding a closed fist to his chest and bowing to them slightly as David saw the brown leather gauntlet that sat around his left forearm and the silver buckle shaped like the Brotherhood's insignia on around his waist, the hood covered most of his face as leaving his bearded jaw and chin in views of the couple in front of him.
"You're..an assassin" David blinked at the man. Amelia had been right. There was another assassin here.
"That I am" he confirms to the pair with a amused smile.
"I'm Snow" she introduces herself to the assassin "This is my Husband David".
The pair paused waiting for the assassin to give his name to them only to be met by silence "Forgive me. In my culture, names are just as powerful as any spell or curse. I cannot give it to you just yet, until my people and I are safe".
"It's okay" Snow tells him "We understand".
"However I do recognise you both" he says looking between them in the limited light "You passed through the Land of Untold Stories recently. Running from Hyde".
"We did".
"Is Hyde truly captured?" he asks them not trusting that the words the woman spoke true just to get him to come out of his hiding spot.
"He is" she confirms in confidence "Locked away where he can't hurt you or our people again".
"I must admit" he says letting a breath of relief "It is welcoming to hear that. However dd you manage it?".
"Our daughter. Emma. She's the Saviour. Along with a couple of friends of ours".
The word saviour struck the assassin like a slap. That name was cursed. He only knew one saviour in his life and he tried to fight for him for as long as he could. But he had failed.
Coming out of his memories of his dear friend the nameless assassin remembered the woman he had seen with the couple in front of him as they ran from Hyde. They had made eye contact through the whirlwind before she had follow the other's in her group.
"Was one of them the assassin that was with you?" he asks the pair "Hair, kissed by fire, fair skinned. Is she here with you?".
"She is" the former Princess confirms to him "She's home I think, she's been through a rough time recently".
"Hmmm" he hummed to herself "I would like to speak to her soon, if that is something you can arrange".
"Of course" David tells him "When she knows you're here I'm sure she'll want to talk to you. Are there more that came with you? Assassin's I mean".
"Just me I'm afraid" he sadly tell them "My Brotherhood were either or killed or captured many years ago".
"We're sorry to hear that" the former Prince sympathised with him.
"Thank you" he replies with a deep nod.
"There's a place called Granny's that'll give you food, people who can arrange for shelter. We'll be there whenever you're ready".
"Thank you Snow and David. I will speak with the other's and we will decide what to do next".
"Of course" she accepts his answer "Let's go" she whisper's to her truelove getting him to leave with her so the assassin could confer with the others. As she walked away the former Princess couldn't help but look back at the assassin that stood watching them leave before he turned himself to find the others. She had a bad feeling about him. She just didn't know what yet.
With Zelena's belonging's now gone from their home all was left from the mess this morning was Amelia's broken gauntlets still laid out on the dining room table. Feeling exhausted from the events of that day Amelia headed straight upstairs to settle Helen for the night after spending the night with her Aunt Zelena and cousin. Regina stayed downstairs as she tried her best to think of a way to give comfort to her wife's broken heart. By any mean's necessary.
Sitting in front of the fireplace with his quiver she tried to use a locator spell on the object to try and find the feather Roland had left for her only for it fall again.
"Mom?" Henry's voice came from the doorway making her jump "Why are you doing the locator spell?" he asks her.
"Roland had a gift for Melia" she started to explain as she stood up from the floor taking a seat on the sofa "Zelena lost it. Robin's feather".
"You know better than anyone why it didn't work" Henry told his mother taking a seat next to her "It's looking for him. And he's gone".
"Obliterated." She quoted to the teenager "That's how Hades put it. His soul destroyed".
"That's what Hades said?".
"You don't believe him?".
"Villains say whatever they can to hurt people. But what I choose to believe in is faith... hope that when a hero's story is over, there's a special place for them".
She was exhausted. And it was only day one of dealing with Hyde and whatever he had brought with him from the Land of Untold Stories. Returning home from the day all of Zelena's boxes had vanished as if she hadn't been there at all that morning. After putting Helen to bed Amelia retreated to the bathroom attached to their bedroom catching her reflection in the mirror. She was curious to see if there was anything different about her appearance since coming back from Elysium.
Apart from the usual bags under her eye's that seemed darker than this morning there was nothing new that would explain the way she was feeling.
But when she caught her looking in her own green eye's she found she couldn't bare looking at them for the look of grief and guilt that she saw in them making her turn away and shuffle back into the bedroom, she found Robin's letter to her on her nightstand. Regina must've put it there to make a point. She knew she left it in the vault for a reason.
Picking up the offending item, her thumb brushed over his handwriting and she forced herself the turn the envelope over to open it only to stop herself as she changed her mind. She didn't need to know just yet. She had some hard work ahead of her until she was strong enough again to read his words.
Placing the letter in the small drawer in her nightstand she found the picture that was taken of her small family when she arrived back. There was someone else that needed to know she was alive and she knew the one person, or animal that would be able to deliver it for her. And he owed her a favour.
Sneaking out of her own home was easier than she thought with two attentive teenager's in the house, but as she made her way into the middle of the forest to summon the world jumper that would take her message forward, she found a tree stump, the assassin stopped knowing she was far enough where she wouldn't be disturbed by her family. And she wouldn't having left her phone at home. with the flask of hot tea in one hand and two mugs in the other, the former assassin placed the mugs on the stump, the redhead poured out the steaming hot tea into the cups ready for her 'tea party'.
She wasn't quite sure how to summon him, but this was the only thing she could think of doing to get the rabbit's attention knowing the story.
Settling herself on a fallen log, the assassin held the hot mug between her hands as she waited for the rabbit to make his appearance. It didn't take long for a small boom reverberated in the woods as she saw dirt jump into the air a few feet away from her as a hole big enough for a white rabbit to climb out of to appear out of nowhere. A few seconds later the portal jumper climbed out of the whole with his back to her as he tried to find the person or person's that had summoned him to this land.
"Hey, little rabbit" her voice made the portal jumper rabbit dressed in a suit with a bowler hat sat between his long white ears and the pair of red coloured glasses that sat on his nose "Tea?" she offers the portal jumper as she gently blew on her drink.
"A-Amelia" Percy the rabbit stammered in fear seeing the Black Widow sat there "W-what do you want?".
"Calm down I need you to deliver a message for me. And it's Amelia by the way".
"A-and why would I do that" he stands firm against the woman.
"For helping you, Alice and Cyrus break in Will Scarlett's apartment. Do you know how hard it was to explain the crater you left in the middle of main street? You owe me".
It was true. The assassin had caught them breaking into the Knave's apartment shortly after the first curse had broken. She had helped Alice and her truelove Cyrus the former genie to find Will Scarlett's missing heart hidden behind a poster of the Red Queen of Wonderland. Weirdly named Anastasia. Only to find the crater just outside the library that acted as their portal. She had no idea how she played it off as something the wraith had left behind to David, the acting sheriff at the time, but it worked.
Relenting in the woman's request the rabbit walked towards her, spying the tea she had poured, sniffing the hot drink for any poison the infamous Black Widow might have slipped into it "I don't use poisons" she tells him "If I wanted to kill you, you wouldn't have climbed out of the hole".
"What do you need Amelia?".
"I need you to take a message to someone" she tells the rabbit, handing him the picture that she found in her drawer.
"That's all?" he asks taking the item from the assassin.
"That's all" she confirmed "My home is here, has been for a while now. I just need them to know I'm okay".
"Who's they?".
"Her name's Anastasia Romanova. She's my sister".
Enchanted Forest
Somewhere outside Monteriggioni
Present.
Rebuilding her old home was a shitload of work. Neither she nor John knew where to start as they settled in the city now open to the magic that inhabited the rest of the Enchanted Forest, but with the help of the Merry Men and the people that came from Camelot they were getting somewhere with the repairs that were needed after her sister's fight against the Wicked Witch of the West. But it would be worth the work.
Word had already reached other's that had heard about the city as people seemed to arrive day by day wishing to help with it's rebuilding wanting to settle in the city the Brotherhood had once occupied for three centuries.
Taking a break from the chaos that was rebuilding her old home the blonde assassin had taken herself into the woods surrounding the city to find the tree she and her sister had found and called their own. Tall enough to see both the city and the docks and deep enough for them not to be disturbed by any passer-by, by to be able to be found by Romeo, Lance or Paola.
The place they promised they were more than just apprentices. But sisters. The scar on her right palm would remind her each time of the bond they swore to each other.
"Blood of my blood, bone of my bone" she recited the words outload to herself "I promise you now, you'll never be alone. The blood that we now share. From this day until my end. Sister's forever".
The tears that escaped her eyes fell onto her scarred palm just as a small boom was heard behind her making her flinch back in fear as he tensed her forearms her hidden blades slipped out of her golden gauntlets as she sought out the source of the noise when she saw a small dirt crater in the ground not too far from where she stood.
Slowly approaching the crater with care steps the blonde assassin jumped back as a white rabbit suddenly jumped out of the crater "BAH!" she exclaimed in fright seeing the white rabbit dressing in suit and tie jump out of the crater with a small bowler hat between his ears. brushing the dirt from his fur.
"Who the fuck are you!" she demanded out of the creature holding up her blade as it looked up to see the woman Amelia had sent him to find.
"Are you Anastasia?" he asks her.
"Who's asking, weird little rabbit!?" she says relacing her arm so that her blade slipped back into place, as her defenced fell seeing the lack of threat coming from the rabbit.
"Someone you know sent me to find you" it tells her as it reaches into the jacket of his suit to pull out a folded square piece of paper "To give you this".
"Who?" she asks him.
"Look and find out for yourself" was all he told her.
Taking the item the rabbit was holding, she quickly found it was a photo from The Land of No Magic. She had to take a double look at what the picture showed her as she saw her sister sat between her two nephews with a small bundle in a yellow blanket in her arms, smiling at the camera with her soulmate on Henry's other side in what looked like their home. This was recent. Very recent.
Turning the photo around she saw her sister's handwriting scribbled on the back. Something that told her she wasn't seeing things. It was real. Her sister was alive.
"The sun will shine on us again sister".
A x
A choked sob left her lips as she tried to hold back the tears that threatened to fall out of pure happiness to see her sister alive and well again with her niece and nephew's again.
"She's alive" she breathed out as a smile broke out on her lips for the first time since arriving back in the Enchanted Forest. The promise on the back of the photo told her she would be with her sister again one day. All that she needed to know was that was a possibility now. She would see her sister again. And she couldn't wait until that day.
Arriving back at her farmhouse Zelena let herself back into her home with the bitter words exchanged between herself and her new sister-in-law playing on her mind as she held her infant daughter in her arms.
Shutting her front door behind her she went to go further into the home when she stepped on something. Looking down she saw an envelope on the ground. Picking said item off the ground in the faint light she recognised the neat cursive writing on the front that stated her name. Opening it she heard something move inside along the bottom. Reaching in she gently clasped the item in her fingers pulling it out to see a simple gold necklace with a small arrow pendant. The same one she was admiring in the early hours of that same day.
Gently placing the necklace back, she took out the piece of card that partnered the item
'I'm sorry.
Give this to Robin'
A
P.S. Don't worry it's been all paid for, the receipts included
A smile twitched on the witches face at the assassin attempt of an olive branch. She would have to sleep on it, of course.
"There you are" Regina's voice was suddenly heard from her kitchen taking her out of her thoughts, tucking the card away.
"Regina?" she calls out as she entered the room to see her sister sat her table with three glasses full of green liquid on the table in front of her and a figure stood in a dark robe and hood with her elbow propped on the mantle of the roaring fireplace. But that wasn't Regina sat there. It was the Evil Queen which meant that the figure her leaning against her fireplace mantle was the Black Widow.
"Isn't life deliciously ironic? All you ever wanted was a sister. And when you finally get that wish..." she snaps her fingers "it's the wrong one" she cackles at her.
"You... You're alive".
"You can't get rid of us that easily" the Queen tells her.
"What do you want?" Zelena demanded out of the pair holding her daughter closer to her body as the Widow takes her place behind the Evil Queen as the Queen reaches out to pick up a glass in front of her to give to the assassin before taking one for herself.
"Let's have a drink" the Widow tells her with a wide smirk on her face holding out the glass towards the Wicked Witch "I think, it's time for some sisterly bonding. Don't you think Lena?".
Stood outside the building called Granny's. Basim watched with his arms crossed across his chest as he watched the other passengers from the Land of Untold Stories be greeted with warm smiles and meals as they were given blankets and food by the couple that he had met in the woods with a blonde woman he assumed was their daughter Emma with a one-handed pirate in dark leather.
"Can we trust them?" he asks his Princess stood next to him watching the others inside.
"Yes" she tells him "I think we can".
"Do you really think our plan will work sister?" Basim voices to his half-sister "Their Saviour has already spoken with the Oracle. It is only a matter of time until her visions come true".
"We have time Basim" Jasmine tries to reassure him.
"And their assassin? She will be having the same visions. They will only get worse" he voices his concerns with her. He knew what they were like. And if what Snow and David said about her are true, then the visions where coming at a bad time for her.
"We will deal with her when the time come's little brother" she tells him taking his hand into her's "First we have to find him".
Aladdin. The thought of his sister's true love weighed heavy on his mind. The last time he had seen him was when Jaffar was chasing him through the desert. After that. Nothing.
"I know. And we will find him" he promises her, clutching her hand in his, if not to comfort her, but to comfort him. It had been so long since he had seen his brother. It also seemed impossible to find him in this realm of all places.
"For now "she goes on "Go in there and play your part, while I play mine. For this to work they need to trust us".
"I know" he says leaning down to place a loving kiss on her cheek "Wada'an, Jasmine. Stay safe" (Goodbye).
"You too Basim. Goodnight" she tells her younger brother before turning to leave him to enter the diner to be greeted by the Saviour and her family. They would find Aladdin. Even if he had to search this whole place for him. He would find him.
AN: We made it to Season 6! Yay!.
Hope you enjoyed the chapter. This has been slightly delayed because I've had to make some drastic changes from the original storyline I had in mind for this half of the season. But I'm happy with the one I've chosen for Amelia going into 6B. That includes the inclusion of the new OC Basim who is the latest Assassin in the AC franchise.
Also I had to do something about Anastasia, I couldn't let her go on without knowing her sister was okay. So I 'recruited' the help of the White Rabbit from Once Upon in Wonderland. (Yes. I've seen it now). Sorry for any confusion if anyone here hasn't.
Can't wait to get to the next chapter!
Welcome to some new followers! Hello! Well done for getting to this chapter.
Until next time!
