[AU] Shortly after the events of "Countdown" and the missed opportunity of talking with Beckett, Rick heads home to take his mind off it, but receives a phone call from "an old friend" who needs some help, seeking a distraction, he agrees and is quickly dragged into a conspiracy he had been hoping to avoid and tries to survive while Kate desperately tries to save him.

What would have happened if Castle hadn't been kidnapped on his way to their original wedding in The Hamptons. Rated T for the first chapter, but that rating will change.
