Chapter 106
The Union Fractures
December 7th 1999
European Parliament
Belgium
the political centre of the EU, once a place of order, was now in chaos and under occupation by the forces of the Belgian army; you see, the European Union had split into various factions due to the past few months of chaos in Europe.
The SRU's recent policies to increase trade tariffs were in response to the EU's increasingly annoying attempts to bring Sparta into the Union. The government was united only in name, as these factions would soon begin fighting each other.
The SRU and the British Empire increased security on their borders and closed their Embassy's within the EU's member states. While Kassandra and her senate didn't really care about the political issues in the EU, she knew her youngest daughter and her wife did. After all, Fleur was from France, and her family still lived there.
And yes, they were safe from most unrest due to living in the magical community. However, if the military of the member states started fighting each other or other members of the EU, it could cause total chaos in the magical world by accident.
However, it was the emergency meeting of the SRU Council that caused the EU to fracture one that even the EU didn't see coming, they really should have.

SRU Council Meeting chambers
Royal Palace of Kassandria
"it is decided, by all member states of the SRU and affiliate members, that the SRU Council will begin the process to devalue the currency of the Euro from its current valuation of 2 euro to the Drachma to 5 Euro to the Drachma, due to the current political and economic issues between the European Union and our fellow member state, the Spartan Empire if the current political situation continues as it is".
I know what you're thinking. How can the SRU even decide that? Simple. The Nations that made up the SRU were some of the richest Nations on earth, and with 90 percent of the international trade going through the SRU, it was easy for them to set policy.
They very rarely used this card to prevent total war, and more importantly, it was bad for business. Businesses kept the taxes low and the people happy.
Flashback Over
City of Sparta
Royal Palace Throne Room
"My Queen, we have a plan in place to evacuate the Delacour family from France should Total war break out. As for military intervention, the Mediterranean Fleet is ready to deploy in full force across the entire Mediterranean Sea. We also have 4 legions in Egypt on standby to be deployed across Europe," General Aeropos told his queen before the Court.
He had to admit it was a great honour that the Military High Command had tasked him with explaining their plan to the Queen; it was his first official duty as a member of the High Command Group.
"Very good, General, however, I want the fresh legions posted in Byzantium to be redeployed to our northern border with Europe to send military support to Italy if it needs aid".
The general bowed before leaving the palace with the rest of the court after the queen dismissed them, leaving her alone on her throne to think of her recent actions. She knew it was her policies that led to this situation, and had it not been for her daughter's marriage to the Fleur, she would have just watched as the EU crumbled. Honestly, the Devaluation hadn't even come into play yet.
"Your Majesty, may we speak?" came the voice of Fleur Delacour-Agiad, her daughter-in-law and mother of her Granddaughter Victoria. Giving her a smile, she waved her hand towards the chair in Front of her desk.
"Kassandra… mother. I am worried for my parents the EU on the verge of collapsing threatens war in Europe again especially with Victoria over there."
She told Kassandra her worries for her family in France and if there was a way to avoid war: "I understand your issue, Fleur. I have contingency plans in place to evacuate your family to Sparta or England to the potters, but I will not submit my Empire to the EU bureaucracy and corruption. As for Victoria, she will be fine."
Kassandra wouldn't admit but she felt a warm feeling in her chest when her daughter-in-law called her mother
"Nor would I expect you to mother; the union tried to force concessions out of you, making the empire weaker, all for their own greed."
Standing from her desk, Kassandra pulled her daughter-in-law into a hug. "Don't worry. I don't intend for Europe to crumble completely. The last thing the continent needs is another war."
Kassandra was right. Europe was not ready for another full-scale war. The British Empire still maintained a strong naval and air force but had, over the last few decades, shrunk its army to 300,000 men from 500,000.
Parliament believed it was manageable in terms of financing. From a military perspective, three hundred thousand men were more than enough to protect the Uk and still aid its overseas territories.
Their moment was cut when a small voice was heard. Both turned to see a small blue-skinned creature who seemed to be panicking, causing Kassandra to roll her eyes. "Hello Panic, what does my uncle wish of me, or are you just here for a friendly chat?" she asked the creature now known as Panic, who shook his head in response.
"No, no, Great Queen. My Lord says it's urgent and to come at once." With that, he vanished back into the underworld.
Turning to her daughter-in-law she told her to inform her family where she was going before vanishing in flames to hades itself.
Arriving at the ferry, she tossed a coin to Charon, who nodded and began to move the ferry towards the Palace of Hades. "Aghhhh, hilf mir, bitte hilf mir, ich verdiene dieses Leiden nicht." Kassandra turned towards the sound of the voice only to grin savagely as she saw one of her uncle's minions torturing a man in the most painful way.
"Ahh, dear niece, it's so good to see you. Did you see how dear Adolf is enjoying his new punishment?" Hades asked his niece as she walked towards him a few minutes later, seeing her roll her eyes.
"Indeed uncle, having his ass ripped apart with a dildo shaped as the Star of David only for his wounds to heal completely so it would continue to be painful until you get bored is a fitting punishment for him".
Hades laughed before turning serious, waving his hand two of his minions walked in dragging a dead mortal a wizard from what he could tell, what Hades told her however sent her blood boiling that all she could see was bloody murder.
Leaving underworld, she appeared in the family's personal area her eyes golden and burning with fury as she turned to look at her daughter-in-law slightly scaring her and other members of her family that even Gorgo moved her wife behind her.
"Mother, please calm down what's happened? What did Uncle Hades show you"
Kassandra's voice was filled with pure divine power and raw anger. "Your uncle plans treason against my family and your own, he seeks to kill your father and my granddaughter!".
Hippolyta hearing that was up in seconds weapons in hand no one would touch her granddaughter, her daughters were fuming even Fleur was in her Veela form at the thought of her own uncle trying to kill her father his own brother, but why? why do this he must know it would not end well for him.
The one thing that made them all pause and pale in horror, Victoria was with her grandparents in France.
Delacour villa
Home of Samuel Delacour
City of Toulon
French Riviera
Republic of France
Samuel Delacour, former ambassador to the Kingdom of Magical Italy sat at his long table with his other conspirator's with his brother no longer the president of France he had lost all his political power he gained, Afterall in the time of his brothers terms in office he was invited to all social gatherings across France and Europe was uncle in law to a princess of Sparta.
What he neglected to remember was he was also the biggest pain and thorn in his brothers career, every post his brother had given him he screwed up everything from a member of his cabinet or a provisional governor of magical Algeria even its muggle counterpart at some points.
He was corrupt as it came the only reason his brother hadn't got rid of his was there mother made him swear an oath to protect him and provide for him if he was able, it didn't occur to him the primary reason his brother didn't run for president again was just so he could nullify the oath.
Right now, he was with his fellow conspirators made up of nobles business tycoons and politicians who stood to lose a fortune if the empire passed its act to devalue the Euro, they stood to lose billions.
But that didn't matter now; they had the perfect barging chip: his brother, his Veela wife, and their youngest daughter were coming to visit with little Victoria, the so-far mortal grandchild of the Spartan Queen.
"Worry not my friends, with the little brat as our hostage the Queen will give us anything to keep her safe."
Sure, were there worries they would be fools? Not to worry. The majority of the conspirators were in it to protect their wealth, not Samuel. Oh no, he was in it for power and glory and to satisfy his desires.
"Brother were here," came the voice of his brother giving the nod to his guards they kept hidden ready to strike.
As he entered the room with his wife and daughter who was holding her niece, they were flanked by two Medjay, a Mear nod was all it took for Samuels agents to attack killing both Medjay and binding the Delacour's and little Agiad.
"BROTHER!, WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS!" Lord Delacour Roared as he struggled to break free as Gabrielle tried to comfort Victoria.
"Vengeance, Brother, vengeance, power, and glory. I have the granddaughter of the Immortal Queen hostage. She won't dare do anything to harm us and risk her grandchild." He grinned as he walked towards the child, who hid in her aunt's arms as best she could. His aunt was hissing at him, threatening him.
"Oh, dear Gabbi that's no way to treat your new husband". He told her with a grin at the disgusted look she gave him.
Oh, yesss he wanted to take his youngest niece and make her his broodmare, remember what I said about his desires, yeah this was one of them.
As he went to stroke her face, he screamed in pain, struggling to pull his arm away as Gabrielle bit his hand and bit it hard.
His fellow conspirators had got up and stood against the wall in the back of the room. They didn't sign up for this, as Samuel pulled his mangled hand from her mouth and smacked her to the floor, causing Victoria to cry out.
"YOU STUPID LITTLE BITCH!, ILL MAKE YOU AND THAT LITTLE FREAK PAY FOR THIS!". He yelled as he ripped Victoria from her arms before attempting to rip Gabrielles robes from her body, he was going to claim his wife no matter what.
Both his brother and his wife tried to fight back only to be pinned down by his agents, little Victoria was terrified he wanted her mommy's her eyes filled with tears her arm hurt and her aunty was being hurt as the bad man struggled to rip her robes off.
Inside her, something snapped, a raw energy. "LEAVE MY AUNTY ALONE!" she yelled as a wave of golden energy blasted from her, knocking Samuel, his agents, and conspirators to the ground. Just as the front doors of the villa were blown off, French Aurors and Spartan troops, led by a very angry Royal family, walked in.
Kassandra stopped in shock at seeing her granddaughter had unlocked her divine form but seeing her distraught granddaughter, dead Medjay and injured in-laws, she picked up her granddaughter hugging her before passing her to Gorgo.
Ordering everyone out she stopped the arguments from her children telling them. "Victoria needs you all more leave this to me and your mother."
The Delacour's and Agiad's left with their guards all but two who stood outside the villa with the French Aurors who were terrified to stop the Spartan Queen and her wife from dealing justice on the conspirators.
The scream's from inside the house went on for hours.
