Practicing What to Say

Sighing to himself, Lance walked across the beach. Taking a moment to stare out to sea, he hoped to see something, but what was there to see? Nothing would just appear on command and it wasn't like he would see the sea monster that the Daedalus saw back in 1848, that thing must have been long dead.

A fair distance from anyone, Lance ran a hand throug his curly red hair. He guessed if he was going to do anything, then he might as well thought about what he was going to say to Rikki if he was going to tell her how he felt.

"Hi, Rikki, could we talk?" Rolling his eyes, Lance brought a hand to his face. Talking to no one, he sounded so stupid! Removing his hand from his face, he looked at an empty beach chair and said: "Uh, Rikki, I know we haven't known each other very long and it is probably silly to believe in love at first…" Groaning, he shook his head and walked a few feet away from the beach chair. He then proceeded to get on one knee and say: "Rikki, I… look like I'm practicing a marriage proposal… Oh, boy…" Standing up, Lance proceeded to pace bac and forth. Sighing, he then asked the air: "Would you care going for dinner and a… No, sounds like I'm asking her out on a date more than anything else."

"Asking who out on a date?"

Lance turned and found Rikki walking towards him. She was wearing her bikini and he suddenly felt his face grow warm.

"N-No one, just practicing for auditioning for the school play." Lance replied.

Rikki gave Lance a look and commented: "The play hasn't even been announced yet. Why are you being so mysterious, Lance?""
