The scene played like a heartbeat struggling to continue. The Dark and Light Fae stood nearly passing out from Bo pulling their Chi. The Ash and Morrigan did their best to gesture towards their troops to try and get Lauren from behind Bo. The brunette looked stronger as she fed. Her hair flew out of its ponytail and flew wildly around her head. Kenzi and Dyson had arrived thanks to a tip from Trick.
"Bo?! Kenzi screamed. "Bo, stop it! You are killing Hale! Kenzi stood in front of the siren, but she knew it was futile. She gasped when the Succubus licked her lips as the chi still poured inside of her.
Now or never, Lewis. Lauren leapt to her feet and jumped in front of Bo. Her eyes met blue as she leaned in and kissed the woman.
Bo coughed and dropped to her knees. "Damn it!
"Grab Lauren! The Morrigan screamed.
"Don't." Lauren held up her hands.
"She's crazy Lauren. We have to get you out of here." The Morrigan replied.
"I'm tired, Evony. All of this running and changing locations has finally caught up to me. I will never escape Bo. She will never stop chasing me or the rest of you. Just go. I will talk to Bo and call you when I need a ride." Lauren turned to the Fae, and they all looked on in horror.
"She doesn't deserve you, Lauren." Vivian stepped forward.
"I didn't say she does. I just want to talk to her and get this shit over with." Lauren bowed her head.
"Everyone jump in a vehicle. The Doctor has asked us to leave." Hale coughed as Kenzi, and Dyson helped him to stand.
Kenzi shook her head. She could not believe what was happening. She could not believe Lauren was controlling the Fae and not the other way around. She thought about what Trick had said about Lauren having the most powerful fae powers in her hands, and she does. Bo.
"Here." The Morrigan stepped forward.
"What is this? Lauren asked.
"The Ash and I created a phone number. You are the only one that can use it. Should you call, the Light and Dark Fae have people on standby to pick you up, from anywhere." The Morrigan turned to Bo as she said anywhere.
Bo could not do anything but look back and forth at them. There was nothing she could think of to say that would help her relationship.
"Lauren doesn't need your phone number. She knows I will never hurt her! Bo screamed.
"You broke her heart. Tell me, Succubus, how is that not hurting her? The Morrigan asked.
Bo bowed her head in shame. Her nature has always been her shame. Her guilt. But she has never had a girlfriend before Lauren. Kyle was nothing like what she feels for the Doctor. She stepped down, when she calmed down. She was about to have Lauren to herself, at Lauren's choosing. She wanted to smile but she did not want to get ahead of herself. Seems that is something she had always done before regarding Lauren. Predicting she would get her way, Lauren's feelings be damned. She gently cleared her throat and waited.
Lauren watched all of the vehicles leave while clutching Evony's note in her hand. Once the last car had rounded the corner she turned back to Bo.
"Lauren..." Bo started.
"I won't be here long. You better get to the bottom of whatever you are going to say." Lauren turned to the woman.
Bo almost jumped back at the cold coming from Lauren's eyes. She had never once looked at Bo that way before. She had seen her look at Lachlan and the other Ash like this, but never Bo. Hell, if she was being honest, Lauren looks at Dyson like this, a lot.
"I was watching you with them. In case you needed me. You did. That is why I started pushing my chi into you. You looked tired Lauren. You looked hungry. You still look that way. I won't watch you be that way, ever." Bo never blinked when she spoke. Lauren was in front her, she could disappear at any moment.
"Well, a human with the Fae in her life, can't always rest comfortably. I was not getting much sleep. I faked it most nights. But once we put this to bed. I can stop worrying about what you will do next." Lauren pulled her hair back over her shoulder.
"Ken….You can rest with me, Lauren. You know that. Or at least, I thought you did." Bo frowned.
"I know Kenzi rests comfortably with you. She has her own watchdog too, doesn't she? Lauren half laughed. Kenzi has it made for as long as she lives. But none of the Fae will ever come for her. Come before her either. Something Lauren was not going to get in Bo's life. She is not going to matter to the brunette. Her succubus, yes, but not Bo.
She knows this Succubus. She knows her weakness. She is her weakness. It would be adorable it if was not insulting at the same time. She had her Succubus around her. She was having fun. Bo got jealous and spoiled everything.
"That hurts Lauren. I love you and you know that. But you are constantly running some kind of game on me. I did not care about the kiss with Tamsin. It meant nothing to me, that is why I never mentioned it. Yes, I should have come home to you so that we could talk. But I figured you would be busy working on something. I saw you with files in your hands when we did that video chat. I thought our talk could wait until I was done having drinks with Kenzi. She is still not fully back to being Kenzi after being kidnapped and I know you two are not the best of friends yet, so I met her at the Dal. I thought that would be better than trying to talk to you with her around too." Bo rubbed her face with both hands.
"Those files you saw were about you. I was starting to work on your injections again. But now I see my little human needles are not ever going to help a mighty Fae like you." Lauren rolled her eyes. She knew it was probably Bo's succubus that protected her every night and day they slept together.
"See, there. Your work is important to you. Just like mine is to me. It was only a kiss, Lauren. That is all. Nothing else has happened. Nothing. Not even with Dyson." Bo knows that is still a sore subject with her and the Doctor.
"I'm not going back there, Bo. There is no life for me there. I will not go back and wait on the sidelines and wait for you to score and come to me. Megan and Vivian have given me more respect and a place to be a doctor more than any Fae has before. You think it is fake and easy. But it's not." Lauren stepped backwards when Bo stepped forwards.
"I said I was sorry about that Lauren. I meant it. But I can't not help people. It has never been who I was. You do not want to go back there? Okay. Then we can build our lives elsewhere. Together." Bo leaned back on one boot heel. Lauren's game was strong, but she still did not look right. "Lauren."
"No." Lauren yanked her arm out of Bo's reach.
"Lauren don't make me do this, please." Bo spoke softly. She watched Lauren lift the paper up. "No."
"I can go whenever I want to, Bo. No Fae will string a necklace around my neck or throw me into a dungeon again." Lauren rambled angrily.
"You are not well, Doctor. I am going to help you, whether you like it or not." Bo closed her eyes and yanked the paper from the blonde's hand. She opened them in time to see Lauren's rage and lunged forward and gently picked the doctor up into her arms.
"I am not helpless, Bo." Lauren kicked.
Bo gritted her teeth. She had to, to keep from pulsing the woman. She made it to her car, and put the woman on the passenger side before buckling her in.
"I know someone that can help." Bo turned the engine on and gently drove off.
Lauren groaned but could not do much about her condition or situation. She had stupidly left her phone in her hotel room. She was too tired to remember the number Evony had written down, even if she could get to a telephone.
Bo glanced at Lauren and frowned. The Doctor looks like the woman she loves, but at the same time, does not look like her. She mentally kicked herself. Lauren was running because she did not feel like she could trust Bo with everything she is feeling. She suspects the blonde has confided something in Vivian and Megan. But will not talk to the Succubus sitting across from her.
Bo cannot judge though. How many conversations has she had about Lauren with Kenzi? How many secrets had she told her friend about her girlfriend? Even when they were not officially a couple yet. She clamped her lips closed and sighed. She pulled up and got out of her car. She raced to the other side and pulled Lauren out of the vehicle.
"You can trust me, Lauren." Bo whispered as Lauren gritted her teeth. She looked at the blonde's legs. She wondered how well they were healed with Fae blood used to heal them. She wondered about Lauren's insides. How much damage had Nelson done? Was the woman being honest about her own condition?
Lauren shook her head and walked ahead of Bo. She waited for the brunette to open the doors and once she opened them, the blonde walked inside.
Bo bowed her head after Lauren walked past her. The tension was thicker than anything she had ever experienced before. She walked in and grabbed her phone. "We're here." She said into it and hung up.
"Who was that? Lauren asked.
"Someone that is going to help us. Help you." Bo replied as she gestured for the Doctor to sit.
Lauren sat and rested her head. She kept her eyes on Bo. Bo frowned at that and sat on the other side of the room. The room reeked of silence. Bo listened for Lauren's every breath. She wanted to make sure it stayed somewhat normal. She has known how the blonde breathes for years. She knows when the Doctor is close to having irregular heartbeats thanks to their times in bed. They need to be more than that. They need to be more than lovers. They need to be friends. They need to be confidants. It has never been lost on her that Lauren is a human. A human she fell head over heels in love with. She has to help her. She has to fix her. Fix her health. The rest can come later.
The doorbell rang and Bo jumped to answer the door. "Please, come in." She stepped back.
"Who is this? Lauren asked.
"He's a doctor. Mom found him, for you." Bo walked the man over to the blonde.
"I know most of the Fae Doctors. He doesn't look familiar." Lauren snapped.
"He's a human Doctor. One that has recently started to study us. Study the Fae." Bo smiled.
"Nice to meet you, Dr. Lewis. My name is Sam." The man extended his hand.
Lauren looked him over. She noticed his lab coat. It looked crisp. Like he is fresh out of Med school.
"Why are you here, Sam? Lauren asked.
"Lauren. He really is here to help. Really. There is nothing else going on here." Bo held up her hands innocently.
"I just want to get some blood. To run some tests on you. That's all that I have been called here for." Sam backed away from the blonde.
Lauren rolled her eyes. "Fine. But be quick about it. The sooner you run your tests, the sooner I can get out of here."
Bo nodded and Sam set his medical bag down and grabbed everything that he needed from it. Lauren rolled up her sleeve and let him take some blood. She never took her eyes off of him as he walked away from her. He nodded to Bo. The blonde saw her take some deep breaths.
"Now, we wait." Bo adjusted herself in her chair. Waiting was never her strong suit. But she needs to learn to be patient while watching the patient stretched out on the couch across from her. She noticed Lauren starting to fall asleep. She hoped for it. At least she would actually see her sleeping. She stood to grab a blanket to drape over the woman. She smiled as she lowered it across Lauren's body. Then turned her attention to lighting the fireplace.
Aife had come through big in a short amount of time. Bo had almost forgotten about this house. It is the same house Aife hid in while the Light Fae compound was bombed. Not an ideal spot to bring Lauren to. But nobody knows about it. Nobody but Kenzi and she has likely forgotten about it by now. Besides to betray Lauren is to betray Bo. Kenzi would not do that. Not when she watched Bo leave with the Doctor without some grand speech.
Bo scratched her head and walked over to Sam. "Anything yet?
"This will take a little more time than that." Sam worked as fast as he could. Aife had paid him handsomely. She paid off his tuition and set him up with a local hospital. All for taking time away from his studies to help Bo and Lauren. It really is not a bother when he heard it was Lauren Lewis that he would be helping. The woman is a legend in the medical field. To help her would be to help everyone in their field.
Bo took her boots off and paced back and forth. She did not want her heels hitting the surface waking Lauren up. Every now and then, she would look at the Doctor. Mostly at her chest to make sure it was still moving.
Sam gestured towards Bo, and she walked over to him. "You said she used Fae blood to heal herself from her paralysis?
"Aww shit. Don't tell me that's causing her unrest." Bo shook her head.
"We need to let her get as much sleep as she needs right now. Her body is changing. She'll still be Lauren, but her DNA won't be the same." Sam explained.
"Tell me, Doctor, can that blood make her a thrall? Can it put her under my mother's spell? Bo asked.
"Your mother? Sam asked.
"Yes, it was my mother's blood that she used." Bo replied.
"Bo? May I take a sample of your blood? Sam asked.
Bo side-eyed the man. "Mine?
"Just a little bit. I want to check something else out." Sam pulled a needle and fresh vial from his bag.
"Ok. Ok. If it will help Lauren." Bo pulled her jacket off and let Sam take what he needed.
"It will just be a few minutes." Sam smiled as he turned away from her.
Bo nodded. He had the same look Lauren gets when she is about to have a medical breakthrough. She paced harder knowing there is something wrong with Lauren. Something the Doctor herself does not know.
She stopped when Sam turned around again. "What did you learn?
"When you said your mother, that confused me. I know Aife's blood. I studied it when she came to me with a stab wound a few years back. Lauren didn't use her blood, she used yours." Sam replied.
"What?! Bo screamed but whispered.
"Don't be mad at her Bo. She is a brilliant Doctor. She does not make real mistakes. If she thought she used Aife's blood, she probably thought she did. But your blood work matches the blood I took from Lauren." Same replied.
"My blood is killing her? Bo frowned.
"No. It's making her stronger. Her human cells are trying to adjust to your blood. That is why she has been so exhausted. She's changed her anatomy." Sam took a bottle of water from the nearest table.
"I thought she put the blood in a hit water bottle or something? Bo questioned.
"Perhaps it burst." Sam shrugged.
"But that sounds like it could kill her." Bo dropped in the nearest chair.
"Aife told me all about her daughter. How you were unaligned. How your blood has the power to heal anything. Do not sulk about this. This is great news. You got Lauren to where she needs to be. Here. With me. With you. Just let her sleep as she wants, and I will be down the hall in the makeshift lab that Aife had installed.` Sam hurried out of the room.
"Okay." Bo choked out. On one hand, she's glad Lauren is resting. On the other hand, she is going to be upset when she wakes up and learns the news. She threw her head back and blew out the deepest breath that she could muster.
It does not sound like Lauren has turned herself Fae, but it does not sound like she is human anymore either. She cannot be Bo's thrall either. That would suck considering what a thrall is. An emotionless person. That is never who Lauren is. She is all heart. That is one of the reasons Bo fell in love with her. Even though the Fae screwed up her life, she still cared enough to treat them.
"What have you done? Bo whispered. The blonde was still in the same position that she fell asleep in. Her impatience almost made her wake the Doctor up so that they can talk. To see what Lauren knows that Sam did not know about her condition.
She never would have asked Lauren to use her blood to do anything. It is dangerous. She dropped a few tears thinking of how Lauren must have been at such a low mental moment, that she felt alone and helpless enough to do this to herself. Like she must have felt helpless when Nelson was beating the crap out of her. She growled at the thought. People were in fact hurting Lauren, physically, when Bo was not there to protect her. The Morrigan is right. She broke Lauren's heart because she was not there to tell her the truth. To downplay how Tamsin had made their kiss bigger than it actually was.
"I'm here now." Bo whispered as she moved closer to the Doctor and gently kissed her on her forehead. Her heart and their future rests with the doctor.
