Chapter 8
The Invasion

The fleet of the Imperium of Man has finally arrived in a new region in space. Real space. Magnus looks out the window and from his only eye, he sees the majesty of this new solar system as he sees the giant techno-ball in the center of the solar system orbited by suns and a multitude of battles. Corvus is there too as he beholds the majesty of ancient and lost engineering that have evolved under the right hands.

"I should really make a poem about this." Corvus says.

"I don't think that any form of words can do this justice." Magnus says as they both just stare at this new solar system.

"You're probably right. I might fuck it up with my darkness as this new system is a bright light upon a sea of madness."

Magnus turns to Corvus, "That was actually pretty good."

"Excuse me, my lords." Kitten says, "But we have a bit of a problem."

From outside the ship, they see Delphan Gruss' fleet approaching the birch world at the center of the solar system.

"Shite!" Leman swears. "Get that mechanical ninny on the vox!"

Aboard the bridge of the ship where Delphan is at, a mechanical priest says to Delphan, "Magos Explorator. We are receiving a transmission from Leman Russ over the vox channel."

"Ignore him." Delphan orders.

"But my lord, I-"

"I said ignore him!" Delphan says in a more stern tone. "I have been seeking the Omnicopaeia for all my life. I will not delay any longer. You can tell that wolfen reject the Adeptus Mechanicus will go ahead and proceed on acquiring the ancient technology we seek and what sort of advancements they made to them."

"Understood."

"Dammit!" Leman swears. "That idiot took two of the Emperor-class Titans we needed for one of these planets to establish a beachhead." He looks at Magnus, "Magnus! Use that magic thing you do and prepare to teleport!"

"Yeah, uh, I can't."

Leman is getting pissed, "Can't? Or won't" he says in a threatening tone.

"Can't! We are really, REALLY far from wherever the touch of Chaos is and my powers are weaken. Same about your Wolf Priests, Rune Priests or whatever. But I am detecting faint traces of Chaos energies on one of the planets. I do sense a heavy concentration of one such location in that one planet that has a bunch of overgrown ruins. I can take my Blood Ravens there and work our way towards anything that resembles a library or something."

Rogal Dorn speaks, "While you all are battling, my Imperial Fists and I shall set up a base as fast as we can. Since we came in and have no intelligence on this system's defenses, our chance of success maybe around 30%. Possibly less if they use a superweapon."

"My Raven Guard and I shall keep to the skies and assist many of our fighters and bombers."

Roboute speaks, "Leman, Jaghatai and I shall attack from the ground."

Karstodes shouts, "Can we please do this already?! My body is losing its gloss!"

On Carolea, Carolus is in bed and his sleep is interrupted by the sound of sirens heard across everywhere as the sun hasn't risen up yet.

He gets up and rubs his face, "Bloody alarm clock." He is still in a sleepy state until he realizes that the sound isn't his alarm clock. "That's not my clock."

Yuka came bursting in, "Carolus, wake up! There's an invasion fleet above us!"

Carolus gets out of bed and peek his head out his bedroom window and sees a vast armada up in the dim lit sky. From a distance, he can see the statue of Ganesha moving as its fingers open up to reveal lasers that are charging up.

"Oh shit!" Carolus sees the start of a major battle. "This cannot be happening!"

Hestia appears at the door, "Everyone! Quick! Get the children to the shelter!"

The two get the orphans out of bed and take them down into the basement before the first shots can be heard from outside. The sound of multiple lasers can be heard followed by missile bombardments and drop pods along with the sirens. Yuka opens the secret door behind a dusty old bookshelf and gets everyone inside.

Carolus notices that one of the children aren't around, "Where's Elma?!"

Hestia says, "She's at a sleepover at her friend's place!"

Yuka gets pushed in as Carolus says, "You protect Hestia and the children! I'll get Elma!"

"You didn't have to push me, you-" Yuka's rant is cut off when Carolus closes the bookshelf.

Outside, drop pods that bear the mark of the Black Templars come crash landing on the surface with many bursting out and started burning everything.

"BURN THE UNCLEAN!" scream one of the Black Templars.

Many Imperial Guardsmen started to land near an old foundry close to where the town Carolus and the Hearth Orphanage is as the dropships drop off the troops along with a Leman Russ Punisher Tank.

One guardsman says, "Hustle up! One two! One two!" But a shot was fired at him that caused a large hole in his head.

Another guardsman says, "Taking hits!"

From the shadows, a bunch of people from the Destiny games appeared as the unleash their might. One is an Exo Warlock in Fulminator armor that use a vortex grenade that dragged in a large number of guardsmen into its vortex and kills them in a few seconds. A human Titan in Turris Shade used the Hammer of Sol on the tank and crushed it entirely. An Awoken Hunter in Kit Fox armor seem to be moving extremely fast as she headshot at least ten guardsmen in a few seconds.

"Retreat!" says one of the three remaining guardsmen.

"You heard the man! Jump to!"

But the Titan-class Guardian uses his hammer and smash them all.

"So," says the female Warlock-class Guardian, "the dumbass parrot people have found us."

The male Titan Guardian says, "To be honest, I was hoping to fight against those greenskin fungus monsters."

The Hunter sounds frustrated, "Fuck! I lost the damn bet!" She then notices Carolus running by with his sword. "What's that kid doing?"

Carolus continues to run towards the house where this once orphan girl is at but looks up to see a large drop pod coming down with blue coloration. Carolus jumps out of the way before it landed. He quickly get behind some rubble before the Ultramarines come out. Carolus can hear the sound of mechanical stomping from the power armor they wear as the step forth from their pod. Muted clicks can be heard from their helmets as Carolus tries to figure out what are they saying. He can hear one of them coming close to where he is. Steadying his breathing, Carolus grabs onto his sword and prepares to fight against the eight and a half foot tall Primaris Ultramarine steadily approaches. He tighten his grip as each footstep gets louder and louder until gunfire is heard from the Guardians taking on the Primaris Ultramarines.

"Who's there!?" the Primaris Ultramarine turn his attention towards the battle.

Carolus took his chance and pierce his sword through the backpack of the marine and right through his head. The Guardians are putting up a fight against the Primaris Ultramarines as Carolus just runs.

In another drop pod that lands in the outskirts, Leman Russ and his Space Wolves charge in but appear to be off course as they landed in what appears to be a junkyard.

"Damn!" one of the Space Wolves with a banner says. "We've been blown off course!"

"Well that's a lot of shit." says one of the other marines. "Guess we should try to find a good spot to hold up until the rest arrive."

The Rune Priest they have with them groans while placing his left hand on his head.

"What's the matter, Rune Priest?" Leman asks.

"I can barely sense anything and my powers are weaken." the Rune Priest explains. "It's almost as if something has cut me off from my source of power."

"Magnus the Nerd said something like that. Guess we can't really use our psykers or use the power of our Librarians. We can't send psychic messages so we have to rely on vox channels. In the meantime," he points his Mjalnar at the Ganesha statue, "we should join our forces to take that gaddy defense down."

"Any idea what the hell that's supposed to be?" says the third marine.

Leman looks at the marine, "Fuck should I know youngin'. I'm not Magnus."

Speaking of Magnus, he and the Blood Ravens appeared in an underground chamber where a huge battle took place. A battle where the Aristocrats and Grown-Ups were worshiping the Power of Chaos as all that remain are just shambles of what happened years ago as broken skeletons scattered across and the faint trace of Chaos can be found.

"What happened here?" Captain Godfrey asks. "Was there a battle that occurred here long ago?"

"It seems that way." Magnus says as he sees the remains and the destroyed Chaos symbols. "Guess even this place have their own problems with Chaos. Although, I never seen such strange creatures. None of these suggest Tzeentch or Nurgle. I don't know much about these humanoids, but they seem to have been dispatched easily despite what little we know to their design."

"Should we worry about such creatures?" one of the marines asked.

"Not sure." Magnus replies. "Remember. We came here on a whim as our Imperium is slowly dying from the lack of major resources and we must be careful where we tread."

One of the Librarians asks, "Should we collect some samples?"

"Yes you can, but make it quick. We must find any libraries or any founts of knowledge to this new place."

Magnus and three squads of Blood Ravens collected a few bones and head out.

Back on the surface, the Imperial Guard set up a few sandbags to fortify their location close to an abandoned industrial district. They have a few standard Leman Russ Battle Tanks along with two Basilisk Artillery vehicles. A commissar is there as he order his troops while threatening to shoot them.

"Keep those sandbags nice and orderly!" the commissar shouts. "We need to entrench here until reinforcements come!"

The Basilisk fire as they spot something at a distance.

The commissar demands, "What in the name of the Emperor are you shooting at?!"

One of the crew members says, "We have incoming!"

The commissar uses his binoculars to see a few Petrosapiens charging right at them. "KEEP FIRING!"

The Basilisks continue to fire as some of the tanks fire their cannons. But the Petrosapiens keep on running at them as the explosions just hit their arms that turn to shields. One of them then stick his arm into the ground and started to cause giant spikes of crystals to appear under the two Basilisks and skewer them. The guardsmen fire their lasguns at the aliens yet they just reflect.

One guardsmen screams, "RETREAT! FALL BACK!" with five others following behind.

However, the commissar fires three of the six to force them back. "If you will not serve in combat, then you will serve on the firing line! Retreat is not an option!"

The other three return to the front lines to continue firing as the other guardsmen are scared. But no matter what, their weapons are useless as their lasers just get reflected. One of the Petrosapiens fire a multitude of sharp crystals at the guardsmen and took them down. Two of the other Petrosapiens have their arms transform into hammers and smash all the tanks with ease.

"Who the hell are these guys?" asks one of the Petrosapiens.

"Have no idea, but they're annoying as hell. Let's try to mop these bastards up."

Close to the city, a Warhound-class Titan was dropped close to the barrier that is protecting the city. However, the titan falls through the ground into the vast underground tunnels. As a result, the titan falls backwards and is unable to move.

"Ah shit!" says one of the Ice Dragons, "One of our titans got trashed. The whole area is completely unsuitable for our titans and knights. Someone get on the vox and warn the others."

"Too late." says another member of the Ice Dragons.

Some of the other titans and a few knights came down but they all fell through with many falling. A few knights were sparred as they managed to not get destroyed.

The first Ice Dragon says over the vox, "Lord Guiliman. The ground is too unstable for our titans and knights. We need to find more stable ground."

"I'm afraid that's too late."

An Imperator-class Titan comes falling from the sky as it lands on the ground a few miles away from the city with one of its arms lasered off. But due to its huge weight, the thing caused an even bigger collapse that nearly caused the whole gigantic, heavy machinery to lean forward and fall down. It stabilized itself before falling even deeper.

Aboard the bridge of the titan, the helmsman speaks, "Despite all the shaking and unstable footing we landed in, we are stable now."

The Princeps speaks, "Good. Prepare to fire our plasma annihilator at that ungodly abomination."

"Preparing to fire."

But all of a sudden, all the power was cut-off.

"What is happening?!" asks the Princeps.

On the vox, they can hear screaming from most of the decks as one of the engineers screamed over the lasgun fire, "ITS A MONSTER!"

Something then break through the bridge of the titan as a vaguely reptilian creature with a mouth full of sharp teeth with the snout similar to a crocodile, scaly gray and decaying looking skin, and messy long black hair covering its large yellow eyes as it roared so loud that the glass cracks. The reptile then attack the crew in the bridge in the most horribly and terrifying way. If you know what this, then you have an idea what kind of monster it is. If not, it is SCP-682 'The Unkillable Reptile'. But to the locals, it is known as Tarasque. A monster that was sealed away under the planet for an unknown number of years but is now loose.

Back outside, Carolus continues to run as the light of dawn touches everything as he continues to head towards where the Elma child is. Gunshots can be heard all around with people dying along with explosions and structures crumbling down. He stops and sees the Imperator Titan falling down as he sees Tarasque roaring triumphantly before jumping off to attack all life.

"Oh shit." Carolus says when he saw the creature, "I thought that thing was a myth. The Boogeyman of the Underground. Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, SHIT! I gotta hurry this up before that thing finds me!"

So Carolus keeps on running and reached a neighborhood where Elma is at. However, he has to go through some Black Templars that are purging.
