Chapter 2

2010

Dean stood near the bar's front door as he waited for his sister to walk in, but she never showed. He turned and saw Sam walking up and stood next to him.

"She's still not back?" Sam asked making Dean shake his head. "You know I thought I'd smelt her perfume like a few minutes ago but it's just...gone."

"I'm going out to look for her." Dean said hating the strange feeling he was getting inside his gut. "I hope that she's alright."

Dean and Sam walked out of the bar and headed for their hotel stopping to catch a faint whiff of her perfume on the walls. "Christy?!" They screamed getting the attention of a Toronto policeman on his motorcycle. "Christy?!"

"Everything alright, gentlemen?" The officer asked.

"No, our sister is missing and we don't know where she is." Sam said as Dean was trying to call her cellphone.

"Damn phone's been disconnected." Dean spat shoving his phone into his pocket and ran a hand through his hair. He glanced over at the hotel. "I'm going to check to see if they'd seen her first." He rushed inside and ran up to the desk looking around in a panic at the few people loitering in the lobby.

"Can I help you?" The young man standing behind the desk asked.

"You were the one that checked in me and my two siblings." The young man nodded. "Did my sister come in and go to her room?"

"I'm sorry sir," the young man lowered his head. "But I saw someone resembling your sister leave the hotel not to long ago. maybe twenty minutes. However we have CCTV cameras in that area because we get a lot of taggers there."

"I need to see that footage." Dean said pulling out his FBI badge and his face silently said not to play around. The young man nodded quickly and took Dean to the back room to look at the camera.

Sam and Dean were not huddled next to the small computer with the police officer standing behind them. With eagle eyes both brothers watched as they could see that Christina did indeed leave the hotel but what happened next shocked even them. The two watched as Christina was on her cellphone, most likely talking to Dean when he called her. Then they watched as she slide her phone into her back pocket then as she headed towards the bar.

The attack was quick that it took even the police officer by surprise. Christina had only taken a step when someone appeared behind her and smashed what looked like a piece of plywood against the back of her head. But as Christina fell to the ground, her, the plywood and her attacker vanished. Dean's and Sam's face was tight and serious. Something attacked their sister and made her disappear. There was going to be hell to pay for the attack. But they knew their anger was only a motivator as they didn't know where to start.

"What the hell happened?" The police officer asked as they all stepped out of the office. Sam stayed behind to get a copy of the surveillance while Dean had to get some fresh air. "Did the camera malfunction?"

"No." Dean said with a dangerous growl. "Something took my sister. But I don't know where."

Christina woke up surprised that she slept comfortably on the moth eaten cot. The jail cell was cool but the small blanket she had just gave her enough warmth that she was thinking back to when she started to hunt and her first time sleeping in the back seat of a car.

"Got you some food." Came the voice of the young Constable, she learned to be George Crabtree. "It isn't much but it would give you enough energy at least."

"Well, thank you, Crabtree wasn't it?" She asked gently picking up the plate with a small slice of bread and a tiny block of cheese in the corner.

"Constable Crabtree, but you can call me George." He said fumbling over his words as she smiled sweetly at him and sat back down on the cot and wrapped the blanket over her shoulders.

"Well, Constable Crabtree," Christina said with a peaceful smile. "Is there anyway I can get something sent to a relative? I'm not sure how much it's going to be nor if I have the money to send it."

"Well, I'm wiling to help. We can ship a small box through Western Union for fifteen cents anywhere in the country and twenty cents to the United States." George watched as Christina leapt to her feet and pull something out of her pocket of her strange clothes.

"I need this to be sent to Robert Singer Sioux Falls, South Dakota. But I need a note on it to read, Do Not Deliver until the year 2010. I have some money...from my time that you can use to help with the wait...If you're willing."

Constable Crabtree stood at attention and held his helmet proudly beneath his arm. "At your service ma'am." He said just as the boiler hat detective walked in looking confused. "Detective Murdoch good morning."

"Morning George." William Murdoch said looking at Christina who had now sat back down and began to nibble on her food. "So I don't have any evidence to hold you here." He said to Christina as she had just swallowed some of her cheese. "However, you would have to change into different clothes."

"What for?" Christina asked looking down at her jeans, tee-shirt and Levi jacket from the night before. "I am not wearing a dress if that's what you're implying, Detective. With all due respect. But I am covered, you can't see any skin and I really don't understand what trouble it would cause if I wear this."

Detective Murdoch opened his mouth to say something but cleared his throat instead. "It's just women aren't...respected if they are wearing men's clothing. I do not wish to cause a rally which might cause some disturbances in the streets and cause problems for the citizens."

Christina huffed and cleared her throat. "Very well, seems like I don't have a choice in the matter." She turned and looked at Constable Crabtree and smiled sweetly. "Thank you so much for your help."

"Now, I assume you don't have any place to stay for the nights." Detective Murdoch asked leading Christina out of the holding cells and back into the police station.

"Well, yes. I don't have any clue and you informed me that the Morgue next door is not a hotel...and I really don't know my way around early 20th century Toronto."

"Well, that won't be a problem." Detective Murdoch said pointing to a group of constables near his office. "Constable Higgins and Constable Crabtree would help you find a place to stay."

"Oh one more question," Christina said rubbing the back of her head. "Are you hiring anyone? I don't have proper currency for this time era."

"Well, we are looking for constables, but we-"

"Won't be hiring any women in the force as you think this place is too manly for women." She finished looking rather annoyed. "I'll have you know I can do just as much as you guys can, and I can prove it. Just give me a chance. If I fail then you can kick me out and I'll get a job as a Librarian."

Detective Murdoch looked reluctantly at Christina as she stood her ground wearing her strange clothes but sighed and nodded slowly. "Come with me. We need to speak with the inspector."

Christina took a slow breath and followed the Detective out of cells and followed him into the main office. As soon as Christina stopped near the desk allowing the Detective to grab his letters, she noticed that the other officers that were in the small station house were now staring at her. Several of the officers began to straighten their uniforms and their messed up hair.

"Back to work you lots!" An older gentleman wearing a white button up shirt and buttoned vest came up and almost stomped his way towards Detective Murdoch and Christina. "Murdoch what in the Bloody Hell are you doing with this woman?"

"Sir, I was just about to see you." Detective Murdoch said keeping his voice soft and professional.

"What about?" The older man said looking Christina up and down and trying to act like a pompous rooster which made Christina chuckle a little. "What's so funny?"

"Sorry you remind me of my uncle." Christina said trying to keep herself professional but her voice kept cracking into soft giggles.

"Oh you think this is a sort of joke?" The man said made Christina start to fight back the giggles making the man mad but Detective Murdoch quickly stepped in between the two.

"Inspector Brackenreid this is Christina Winchester. She was found here last night." Detective Murdoch said seeing as Inspector Brackenreid was out with his wife that night. "She's needing a job, and she's interested in being a police officer."

Inspector Brackenreid placed his hands on his hips before looking at the two of them. After a few seconds he started to laugh as if Detective Murdoch had made a joke but when both the two people he stood in front of still remained serious he stopped. "You're bloody serious?" He asked and growled as he seemed to grow more red in his face.

"Sir," Christina said her voice suddenly quite professional. "I understand woman during this time is almost like second class citizens. But I can guarantee you, you'll won't have to make it known that a woman is an officer and I will be of help. I promise."

Inspector Brackenreid glared at Christina who didn't shudder as she looked into his eyes. "Fine. But Murdoch one mistake and she will be arrested and you'll be out of a job."

Detective Murdoch looked shaken as he glanced over at Christina who shot him a reassuring look. "Come with me, Miss Winchester and we'll get you dressed up."

"Thank you so much Inspector. You will not be disappointed." Christina made an attempt to give the Inspector a hug but a low growl and a swift turn made Christina stop and nod. She then smiled and followed Detective Murdoch to a small closet and began to hand Christina clothes for her to wear.

Being a respected gentleman Detective Murdoch stood outside the closed closet door to make sure the other officers, who would occasionally walk by, from wanting to take a peek at the woman now getting dressed in the small closet. A few short minutes later he moved to see Christina walking out wearing a baggy jacket, thankfully slacks and her boots from when she first arrived.

"How do I look?" Christina asked throwing her arms out and doing a small turn.

"Like an officer...a female officer." Detective Murdoch said but before he could say another word Constable Crabtree came out looking quite scared and pale. "What's the matter George?"

"Sir, there's been a body." Constable Crabtree says looking a little green in the face. "It's pretty horrific, sir."

"You okay with seeing a dead body?" Detective Murdoch asked Christina who looked almost unphased with the prospect of seeing a dead body.

"Yes, sir." Christina said placing the constable hat on top of her head covering her bun.

There was already a crowd of people in the middle of a wooden area when Detective Murdoch, Constable Crabtree and Christina all biked up to the area. After leaning their bikes on their stands when Murdoch looked over at Christina who was trying to discreetly rub her behind.

"Everything alright, Constable Winchester?"

"Just not used to riding a bike for this long without gears." Christina said stretching her legs. "But I'll be fine."

Detective Murdoch nodded and lead the way to where a body was laying down covered in a white cloth while a woman was squatting down next to the body a small handkerchief pressed against her face while her curly blond hair was pressed against her face.

"Doctor Ogden," Murdoch asked seeing how pale she was looking. "Is everything alright?"

"Yes, William," Doctor Ogden said shaky as she stood up and smiled warmly at the Detective. "Just a little shaken by this death. It's clearly a homicide but this savagery..." she cleared her throat as she noticed Christina was glancing at the body under the sheet. "Oh you must be new." Doctor Ogden said with a smile making Christina stand up after dropping the sheet over the body again. "I'm Doctor Julia Ogden. I'm the mortician next door to the Police Station."

"Nice to meet you. Christina Winchester. I'm not from here but I was graciously allowed to participate with this hunt...which is good considering I know what killed this person." She took a shaky breath as if to calm her nerves.

"What killed this person?" Detective Murdoch said looking at Christina with a confused look.

Christina looked directly into Detective Murdoch's face as she licked her lips. "This was a vampire...and by the way the body was mutilated...it was a new born."

I'm so sorry for the long wait. I've been trying to play catch up since some personal events that happened little over the month ago. I'm slowly getting back into the swing of writing so please continue to be patient. I do hope you enjoy this chapter. The fun is starting. Something else came with her but what are we going to find out.
