Chapter 3: Human village…. Sort of
Danny felt nervous at how everyone was now staring at him. He rubbed the back of his neck as he brought his other hand up to wave nervously. "Uh….hi?"
Dracula's eyes widened at the sight of what he assumed was a human. He was about to try and get the boy away but….
"Hey, who are you?" The mummy walked up to the boy as he asked.
Dracula was beginning to panic internally as he really wanted his hotel to maintain the fact that it was human-free. He took a step in order to use his super speed but again he was too slow
Danny held out a hand for the mummy as he introduced himself. "I'm Danny Phantom. You can call me Danny or Phantom if that suits you better." He smiled wider when the mummy shook his hand. He looked at the rest of the monsters in the lobby. "Sorry if my laughing caught you guys by surprise. I just couldn't help but find Frankenstein's monster's joke funny."
One of the living skeletons spoke up as it gestured. "Well, your voice does have an echo to it and it was out of nowhere."
Danny looked at the skeleton and based on the voice, told him it was female. "Yeah~, can't really control that and my laugh has a bigger echo to it."
The mummy turned to face Frankenstein with clear indignation in his expression. "That was you!"
Frankenstein's hand crawled over to the main body before jumping up to the arm and attaching to it before it grabbed the head that was in the other arm socket before putting it in the proper place. "Guilty, but hey, the kid thought it was funny."
Wade and Wanda walked closer with Wade asking. "Hey, why do I get this weird feeling coming from you?" He saw the kid tilt his head and he figured the kid didn't know what he was talking about. He was about to bring it up till he noticed something. He looked at all his pups and saw that they were all sitting in place and staring at the boy, not really afraid but….. intrigued. "Actually, don't tell me. If it is keeping my kids like this, I'm happy for it."
Dracula was surprised to see that the other monsters were just talking to the boy as if it were a normal thing. It was then that he remembered the name he saw on the register and connected it to the boy. 'This is a ghost?'
Danny walked up to Frankenstein with a smile on his face. "Hey, do you mind if I ask you something, Frankenstein's monster?"
Frankenstein pursed his lips as he quirked an eyebrow at being called that. It took him a minute before he smiled at the ghost. It's actually Frankenstein. I know the doctor that made me was called Frankenstein but later since I didn't have a real name, I took it and it kinda stuck."
Danny paused at that and couldn't help but mentally reprimand Sam for drilling that into his head when the very monster calls himself "Frankenstein". "Got it. Anyway, do you mind if I ask you something?"
Frankenstein shrugged. "Sure."
"Do you mind if later on you can autograph something for me? Of friend of mine is a fan and I know that if I get an item that is autographed from the genuine thing, she is going to flip."
That caught Frankenstein by surprise as he didn't think he was that popular. He never saw himself as that well-known as a monster. He thought it was very humbling that there was someone that was a fan. "Uh, sure. Just bring something for me to use and I'll give it to ya."
Danny held out his hand for Frankenstein, much to his regret. When the monster grabbed his hand, he was suddenly flung up and down by the guy. When it was over, Danny had to grab his head to make things stop spinning. Once the world stopped bouncing around, he noticed Mavis's dada walk up to him. Now that he got a look of the man, he could tell that the guy might as well be on wheels since his upper body didn't seem to even move with his footsteps.
Dracula looked the boy up and down and could not help but find it odd how a ghost would look so human. In fact, if it weren't for his pause earlier, he would have taken the boy out of the hotel for interrogation. Now that he got a look at the boy, he could see the glow that he remembers ghosts having. "Are you truly a ghost? I have not seen your kind in a very long time."
Danny nodded as he floated to be more at eye level with the man. "Yep, been a ghost my whole afterlife and so far I find it very useful." he flipped upside down to show off a bit and couldn't help but blush when he saw the other monsters were watching him.
Dracula circled the boy and he had to keep reminding himself that this was a ghost, not a human. "Well, I must say it is a pleasure to see a ghost come to my hotel. As the first ghost ever to come here, I would like to speak with you later on so that I may make some accommodations for any other ghost that may come to my hotel."
Danny raised an eyebrow at that but shrugged. If the guy wanted to know about ghosts to make some stuff for them, he didn't see a problem with that. "Sure, we can do it later tonight if you want."
Dracula nodded with a wide smile. Before he could say anything else, a spider came dangling down to speak to him.
"It's ready!"
Danny flinched back in shock at the spider talking, but as he watched ti climb back up, his shock faded when he saw a sparkling sign made out of spider silk over them. He couldn't help but smile at the sight as he read it.
[Happy 118 Birthday, Mavis]
Danny smirked at the sight before he heard the wolfman's wife speak.
"If only Martha was here to see this."
Dracula smiled fondly at the webbing message before looking at Wanda. "She's always here, Wanda." He lightly tapped his fist over his heart as knew that his group of friends wanted it but he truly wished Martha was here to see their daughter grow.
Danny's eyes widened slightly as he figured out what that meant. He felt a bit saddened hearing that Mavis's mother was no longer with them but he kept it to himself.
Dracula let out a sigh before he moved to the side. He watched as a group of zombies came in with a large white screen and projector. Once those were in place, he stood on top of a stool that was made out of frogs, in order to speak with the monsters that were now giving him their attention. "OK, everyone, I am so glad you are all here to celebrate. Another glorious birthday for my little Mavis, and another year of refuge-" He clenched his fist before he threw his finger toward the screen. "-from them!"
A zombie flicked the switch of the projector, turning it on to show a slideshow.
Danny watched in intrigue at what Mavis's dad was referencing. He raised an eyebrow at the slideshow of humans, what he could tell were pompous tourists based on their attire.
"These are recent human images our surveillance has uncovered. They are getting fatter as to overpower us-" The image shifted from the tourist to an extremely fat man eating a hotdog before it shifted to an image of two other people wearing more skimpy clothing. "And wearing less clothing so they can strangle us or cut open our heads and put candy in them. But they will never find us." the image then switched to a budgie kid eating an ice cream. He popped up in front of the screen and dramatically gestured at the screen. "Evil villain, you will never win!"
Danny couldn't help but find it beyond weird how these monsters were hiding from humans. He noticed how the monsters gasped at each of the images and wondered why they would be afraid of humans. 'Is this some kind of "not understanding what you don't know" kind of thing?'
Dracula shifted his mood from righteous anger to a happy smile. "Ok, fun starts in thirty minutes, right now I gotta go meet with my little girl." He turned and began to make his way toward the elevator in order to reach his daughter's room.
Frankenstein called out to the vampire. "She's not so little anymore!"
Dracula made it to the elevator before turning around and gave a hard look at Frankenstein. "Yes, she is *ROAR*" The quick roar that he gave turned into a serene happy smile as the elevator doors closed.
Danny had flinched from the sudden roar and started to think that he should avoid getting him angry in any way. With his nerves still on high alert, he jumped when a muffled voice was heard. He jumped in the air as one of the boxes he saw Frankenstein come with, opened up to reveal a female Frankenstein head came out, reprimanding Frankenstein for not setting up some of the hotel luxuries. He was surprised when the box closed and something sat on it. He was surprised when he saw that there was a pair of floating glasses over it. He then heard a voice come from the glasses.
"You're welcome."
Danny floated back down and looked at the glasses. His mind went through the horror movie monsters he had seen and snapped his fingers. "The invisible man." he pointed at the glasses.
The glasses nodded before tilting. "Guilty. And you are a ghost, right? Gotta say, I've never seen a ghost before."
Danny crossed his arms as he looked at the invisible man. "Well, I'm pretty sure I've never seen you before….. Or ever will."
The invisible man chuckled as he shook his head. "I've heard that many times but I gotta say, that is a new way I've heard it."
Danny smiled. "I aim to please. And I know what it's like to not be seen." He turned invisible, causing the other monsters to startle in shock. He returned to the visible spectrum and smiled at the other monsters.
Wade walked up to the kid and nodded. "Hey, I gotta ask, are all ghosts like you? It's been a long time since we've seen one."
Danny shook his head. "Not exactly like me. Lot of ghosts have their own weird appearance but there are the occasional ones that look like humans with some extra features. I know of a ghost that has an extra head and talks to themselves all the time."
The Invisible man was about to say something till he felt something push on the box he was sitting on. He looked down and knew that Frankenstein's wife was going to start pushing against the lid. He looked at Frankenstein and shifted his head. "Maybe you should get some of the things she wants."
Frankenstein realized that would be the best thing to do and ran off to the front desk in order to get the reservations she might want.
Murray chuckled at how Frankenstein was so fast to please his wife before he looked at the others. "Hey, why don't we go see how the birthday girl is."
The invisible man nodded. "That sounds like fun." he looked at Danny and waved at him, not that it was visible. "Catch ya later, Danny."
Danny nodded as he saw the box burst open and Frankenstein's wife came out and moved after them while putting herself back together.
"Frank, help me pull myself together."
Now that he saw that they were heading to join Mavis, he figured that he should head out and do something too. He looked out the window and saw that it was a nice night. "Haven't gone on a flight for fun in a long time." With his mind made up, he began to walk to the front doors so he could enjoy the crisp night air.
The second he left the lobby, all of the wolfman's pups regained their senses and began to rampage over everyone.
Much to the ire of the witches who have to clean up the mess.
Danny took in a deep breath of the clean air as it was something that you wouldn't get in the city. On instinct, he looked around so as not to be seen until he mentally slapped himself at how he didn't need to hide here. Floating off the ground, he looked at his surroundings before he eyed the castle. Realizing that he didn't have a chance to get a full view of the thing, he chose to fly around the building, getting a view of the place. He couldn't help but compare the outside to the inside and it almost didn't make sense. With the size of the catacombs and all the turns he had to take when he got lost, he couldn't say it matched the size of the structure. He paused on his inspection as he eyed the castle a small distance away and put an elbow in one hand while the other was on his chin. "Maybe, I was underground? If I get the chance, I gotta check those catacombs again."
"Woohoo~!"
Danny heard the sound from someone and saw that there was someone who had jumped out of a high window. "Woah!" He bolted toward the falling person in order to catch them. He had to lower his angle in order to catch them before they reached the ground. As he was closing in, he had to stop as he saw the person turn into blue mist. "Huh?" his keen eyes saw a bat fly away from the spot and toward the bridge. "Woah." Curious, he flew after the bat as he only knew of two people who might be using that; Mavis and her dad.
Mavis glided over the lake as her wing glided on the water for a moment. She couldn't help the smile on her face as she finally felt free. She loved the hotel but at some point, she felt trapped inside it. "Woohoo~" She gained altitude as she made it to the forest that surrounded the lake.
"Sounds like you're excited."
Mavis faltered in her flight in shock from the sudden voice and looked to her right to see Danny flying next to her. She paused in her flight to look at him. "Danny! Hey."
Danny floated in front of her and smiled. "Hey."
Mavis tilted her head as she asked. "What are you doing out here?"
Danny jabbed a thumb in the direction of the hotel. "I was actually going on a flight around the hotel to get a lay of the land but I suddenly saw you jump out of the window before flying off in this direction so I decided to see what all the excitement was about."
Mavis smiled wider as she flapped her wings to, in a sense, jump in excitement. "My dad actually let me out in the world! I mean, I wanted to go to paradise to see where my dad and mom met, but he brought up how everyone arrived for my birthday so I shouldn't go far. Said that I can be back in thirty minutes or so."
Danny raised an eyebrow. "'Paradise'?"
"Well, my dad called it… uh, Hawiwi?"
It took Danny a second to realize what she meant. He covered his mouth to muffle his chuckle. "I think you mean 'Hawaii'."
Mavis pointed a wing at him as she nodded in confirmation. "That's it."
Danny crossed his arms before he thought about the location. "Well, from what I know, getting to Hawaii from here would take more than a couple of days. Or maybe less since I don't know how fast you are in flying. There is also the issue that it is in the middle of the ocean."
Mavis tilted her head in confusion. "'Ocean'?"
Danny blinked at how her confusion was prominent in that word. 'Wow, how sheltered is she?' Putting that thought aside, he moved the conversation along. "Anyway, weren't you heading to town to check it out?"
Mavis put a wing to her mouth and gasped. "That's right, I don't want to waste any time!" She turned around and took a few flaps away til she paused. Looking back at Danny, she asked. "Want to come along?" She thought that she had wanted to hang out with Danny and since he knew about the humans, he could help her blend in.
Danny thought about it and shrugged. "He didn't really have anything else to do and hanging out with Mavis could be fun. "Sure."
With that, the two flew off toward the cemetery.
Dracula was flapping his hardest in order to make it to the village before his daughter did. He was using the cover of the trees in order to stay hidden so that Mavis wouldn't see him. He paused as he heard his daughter shout in glee. He looked through the leaves to see his daughter fly up in the air before transforming back with the moon behind her.
"I don't think I've seen someone so excited to check out a human town before."
His sharp ears caught onto the voice of the boy that he had met earlier. His eyes shifted down to see the glowing figure of the ghost closer to the ground. He wondered what the boy was doing here but he focused on his daughter when she came back down and began speaking to him.
"Can you blame me? I've always wanted to see what humans were like."
"Well then, let's go."
Dracula gasped before he flew off toward the town he made.
Mavis flew off toward the direction she thought the town was only to stop when Danny spoke.
"Hey, where are you going?"
Mavis looked back at Danny as she pointed out where she was going. "Dad told me that there was a human village in this direction."
Danny raised an eyebrow as he looked at where she pointed. He had flown over that area and he knew that there wasn't anything there. The closest town he knew of was in another direction. With how sheltered Mavis seemed to be, he figured that she might be getting the directions wrong. He pointed to the right as he spoke. "The town I flew over is in that direction. I flew over that way-" he gestured toward where Mavis was heading. "And I know that there is just forest over there. Want me to lead the way from here?"
Mavis looked in the direction that she assumed the town was before looking at the genuine smile Danny had. Figuring that he might know better, she nodded.
Danny smiled before he gestured his head for her to follow. He began to fly in that direction with Mavis following him.
Dracula made it to the town and looked around to make sure everything was set up. "Good, nothing seems to be out of place. Now all I have to do is watch to make sure MAvis no longer wants to be around humans." He flew to be in an alleyway and awaited the arrival of her daughter and the ghost boy.
…
Nothing.
He poked his head out from the alley and looked in the sky to try and see any sign of his daughter coming in. "Where is she?" He wondered if she had gotten a bit turned around and would be a little late, but as the time continued, he began to worry even more.
Danny looked over his shoulder to see that Mavis was still following him. He kept doing this to make sure she was still with him since he didn't know how fast she was going compared to him. He could tell she was still excited and she wanted to go faster, so he obliged. He would increase his speed bit by bit so they could arrive there.
It took them a few minutes but Danny saw the lights of the town coming up as they were coming to the end of the creepy forest.
It was then that Mavis saw the lights and the town they were coming to before she cheered and flew ahead. "Woohoo~!"
Danny's eyes widened when he saw her fly ahead of him. "Hey, wait!" He pushed his speed to catch up with her.
Mavis's smile was wide as she saw she was about to reach the town, only to come to a halt when Danny popped up in front of her.
"Woah, hold up. We can't just fly in like this."
Mavis flew up to be at his eye level. She curiously asked. "Why not?"
Danny looked over his shoulder at the town to see that they were still out of sight despite how they were at the town's edge. "Remember how I told you that humans can't walk on ceilings?" seeing her nod, he continued. "Well, they can't fly either. A lot of the things monsters can do are things humans can't do. To avoid causing some problems, we should go in as humans. Come on." Danny began to descend to the ground with Mavis following. When they hit the ground, he saw that she had transformed back into her human form. "Great, all you have to do is walk on the ground and avoid doing anything like magic or turning into a bat or floating….. Actually, just be you and take things slow."
Mavis raised an eyebrow at that but accepted it. "Ok. I'll stick with you since you know what you are doing."
Danny nodded as he began to walk through an alleyway that led to the town. It was as they were halfway through that he started to hear music. They found out why when they came out of the alley.
There was a festival going on and everyone out on the street was having fun.
Danny saw that everyone from kids to adults wearing costumes as the typical monsters and he couldn't help but find it amusing. He came from the area of the real monsters to the human fake ones.
"Wow~"
Danny looked to his right to see Mavis looking around in awe. He blinked and realized that she was gone. In panic, he looked around for her and saw her looking up at the lights. That would have calmed him down if it weren't for the fact that she turned into mist and sped off to another area. He also noticed some of the people turning to where she was standing as if they saw something in their periphery. He ran over to her and was fortunate enough to grab her wrist before she moved again. "Thank the ancients."
Mavis looked at him in shock till she remembered what he had told her. "Sorry about that. I was just so excited to see all this stuff!"
Danny chuckled as he let her go. "I get it but how about we take things slow? We'll stick around here for a bit but you did say that you would be out for a short thirty minutes."
Mavis panicked as she realized that talking was spending time. "Right, so let's go!"
Danny nodded as he gestured for her to follow him so he could show her around the festival. Danny was glad that the festival was lit by random party lights as they hid the glow he had around his body. And he could explain his look as a costume since this was close to being a Halloween party.
The first stop they went to was a stand that gave cotton candy.
Mavis took a bite of the swirl of pink and couldn't help but find it tasty. "Wow, what is this?" She took another bite of it as she looked at Danny.
Danny pointed at it and told her. "It's cotton candy. It's basically sugar on a stick but whatever they do makes it tasty."
Mavis took another few bites as she looked around at all the people. She started to frown at the sight of costumes of the monsters she knew. "Danny, why is everyone dressed like they are making fun of monsters?"
Danny shook his head. "They arent making fun of monsters, they are actually dressing up as monsters they like." Seeing her tilt her head, he elaborated. "The thing is that monsters are actually very popular among humans. There is a bunch of things now that have to do with monsters. There is even a holiday that celebrates them. Let me show you?" He looked around for someone till he saw one that he knew would appeal to Mavis. "Excuse me, do you mind giving me your top five monsters?"
Mavis looked at the one that he asked and saw it was a short man dressed up as her father.
The man thought about it for a second before responding. "That is a tough thing to answer, Blah blah blah." He spoke in a fake accent to stay in character. "With all the monsters there are, I would have to say; The invisible man, The mummy, Wolfman, Frankenstein, and of course, Dracula, blah blah blah." He looked at the two kids and asked. "And who are you dressed as, blah blah blah."
Danny knew how to answer this as he pointed at himself. "I dressed as a ghost I heard of from America. I heard he is called Phantom. Not to be confused with The Phantom."
Mavis waved happily as she answered. "Well, I'm Mavis Dracula, daughter of Dracula."
This caught Danny by surprise as his eyes went wide before looking at her.
The Fake Dracula nodded. "Ah, I did not know his daughter had a name. A pleasure to meet my daughter, Blah blah blah." He did a slight bow before he waved at the two kids. "Enjoy the festival, Blah blah blah."
Mavis smiled at the man and waved bye before turning to Danny and raising an eyebrow at his stunned look. "What?"
"You're the daughter of Dracula?! Wait….. Your dad is Dracula?!"
Mavis rolled her eyes fondly. "Yeah, everyone is surprised about that."
Danny nodded before shaking his head. "I can't believe I met Dracula and I didn't even notice that. " He made another mental note to get his autograph. He knew that Sam would beg him for the autographed item and he would blackmail her into giving him some of the cheats she had for some games since she always had the advantage. Then he would give it to her. "Anyway, let's keep going. There's a lot of things here I'm sure you would like."
Mavis nodded before she grabbed his wrist and began to drag him deeper into the festival.
The two went through a bunch of festival games. They were all monster-themed but Mavis had no idea what any of them were so she had a lot of fun with each of them.
Mavis got her picture drawn by an artist and she could not help but love the cartoon version of herself that the artist did.
Danny had a chuckle at the fun mirrors that were set for people to walk by and enjoy. He looked to Mavis to see her laughing at the odd reflections he looked through. Thought when someone noticed that Mavis didn't have a reflection, he had to drag her away from there so they wouldn't ask any questions.
Mavis watched as Danny did a ring toss before trying it herself. She had better skill than him and was able to win a large plushy bat while Danny got a consolation prize; a mini ghost plushy. He couldn't help but give a good-natured flat look at it.
The two continued to go through the festival and played as many games as they could.
"So, vampires are just very allergic to garlic?"
"Yeah, I've never tried any before but I saw my dad have a tiny bit before to show me what would happen. I gotta say, I don't want to have any with how bloated he ended up as."
Danny and Mavis were now inside a library as Danny wanted to show her something.
He was looking through a large book for the right page so he could find it. "Here it is."
Mavis looked at the page and saw what told her was a map of the world.
Danny ran his finger through the Romanian area till his finger stopped on Transilvania. "Here we are right now. Not precisely but we are in Transylvania." He then ran his finger all the way to the middle of the ocean. "And here is Hawaii."
Mavis's eyes went wide as she saw the distance between her home and where Hawifi was. She picked the book up to see the island. "Woah, Mom and Dad met in such a faraway place." Her eyes then scanned at all the names of locations on the map. "The world is so big."
Danny smiled. "Yeah, me and my cousin did some exploring and I can tell you that it is something to see."
Mavis lowered the book as she was still in awe. "I hope I can explore it sometime."
Danny placed a hand on her shoulder. "I'm sure you'll get the chance. Your dad let you out to the town, so maybe he will let you explore the world soon." He suddenly reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. "We should start heading back. We've been gone for an hour and I'm sure your dad is worried about you since you've been gone for longer than he said."
Mavis nodded before saying in a slightly saddened tone. "Yeah, you're right."
Danny gave her a reassuring smile. "Hey, the world isn't going anywhere. You can come back some other time."
Mavis smiled as she picked up the bag that held the souvenirs she got. "Thanks for joining me, Danny."
Danny nodded as he picked up his little ghost plushy. "No problem. How about we get a snack for the trip back?"
Mavis nodded as they began to leave the library.
Dracula was frantically flying through the forest as he was looking for wherever his daughter could have been. He had waited for twenty minutes before he began to look for her in panic. He was afraid she might have gotten hurt by something or be found by humans. He didn't know how long he was going through the forest but he would not stop till he found her. "What if something happened to her?! What if she got a cramp in her wing? Or maybe she crashed into a tree and is unconscious on the ground?! What if a human found her and is being attacked by pitchforks!" He stopped on the top of a tree and looked around for any sign of her as he began to hyperventilate.
"So are you sure that you don't want me to carry that?"
Dracula looked up when he heard the voice of the ghost and saw both him and Mavis flying in the direction of the hotel. "What? Where are they coming from?"
Mavis shook her head as she continued to flap her way back home. "Don't worry, it's not that heavy."
Danny knew that the items weren't that heavy but size-wise, it just seemed odd. "How much can you carry in bat form?" He took a bite out of his hotdog as he waited for her answer
Mavis shrugged. "Not sure. I never tried to see how much I could carry. I know my dad can carry Uncle Frankenstein as a bat so maybe I can do the same." She looked at Danny's hand which got him to hold up the candied apple that she got for herself. Since she couldn't hold it in her wings, Danny chose to hold it and whenever she wanted a bite, he would hold it up for her. She took a bite and enjoyed the flavor of the human variant of the treat.
Danny hummed in thought and mentally put a check mark on the super strength box. "That's impressive." He knew he had super strength as well but to imagine a bat her size carrying someone that big was something incredible. Before he could say anything, he noticed something below him and got curious. "Hey, Mavis, hold up!"
Mavis stopped to give him a curious look.
Danny finished his hotdog before he held up the bag for Mavis to take. She was able to take it and he put the candied apple in his bag so the stick would be in the bag and the apple out of it. He held up a finger before he flew down toward the forest.
Dracula saw that Danny was coming down and dropped into the leaves before hiding behind the trunk.
Danny came into the forest while looking in a direction and narrowed his eyes to get a clearer look. He landed on the ground and began to move.
Dracula heard Danny moving closer and was about to jump away to hide himself. He wanted to make sure that Mavis didn't learn that he was out here as it would be obvious that he was there to watch over her.
"Hey, what are you doing here?"
Dracula froze when he heard that and figured he was caught. He was about to accept that he was caught and come out, till…
"Hey, dude! I was just checking out this cool spooky forest."
Dracula raised an eyebrow at the sudden voice and slowly poked his head over the side of the tree to see who Danny was talking to.
It was a human with bright orange curly hair and carrying a large pack.
Danny looked around at the forest and had to agree on the spooky part but wondered why someone would actually want to explore it. He couldn't really argue with wanting to explore something spooky since his parents tend to do that. "I guess I can tell that you could but I don't think it is a good idea to go this deep into the forest since you could end up getting lost here. And getting lost in this forest is bad for you."
The human threw his wrist in an uncaring manner. "Aw, don't worry about it, dude, I can get around well enough. I got myself a compass to tell me where to go." He pulled out the compass to prove his point.
Danny nodded before he looked at the compass. He raised an eyebrow before pointing at it. "I don't think that thing works though."
The human looked at the needle and saw that it was spinning in all directions. "Aw, man, what's wrong with this thing?"
Danny smirked as his eyes glow died down. "Anyway, you should head back into town. There is a festival going on that I'm sure you would enjoy."
The human smiled at the mention. "Really? Where?"
Danny pointed in the direction he and Mavis came from as he knew he was getting the guy to not head towards the hotel.
The human smiled wide before looking at the white-haired guy. "Cool, I came from the other way so I didn't know there was a festival going on." He was about to head over but paused and asked. "What about you? Why are you out here?"
Danny paused as he tried to think of an excuse to give. He came up with something on the spot and smiled at the guy. "I actually wander the forest to make sure that others don't get lost here. I go around the forest to find anyone that did and bring them back to town and I warn others to not get too deep to avoid it."
The human nodded before he held out a hand. "Well, thanks for the head up, dude."
Danny took the hand and shook it. "Don't worry about it. Just be careful on your way back."
"You got it." He turned around and began to make his way to town before looking back at the dude. "The name's Johnny, by the way." He waved at the guy.
Danny waved back. "I'm Danny, take care, Johnny!" seeing the guy nod before walking away, he waited till he was out of sight before looking up at Mavis and flew up to rejoin her.
Mavis waited for Danny to come back and asked. "What was that?"
Danny just pointed at the forest. "There was some guy heading in the direction of the hotel. With how the hotel is a safe haven for monsters, I felt I should just get the guy to head back to town."
Mavis smiled at the boy. "Thanks for that, Danny. I'm sure that Dad will appreciate that when I tell him."
Danny blushed at the praise as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Well, let's get back to the hotel. I'm sure your dad is waiting for you."
Mavis nodded before Danny took his and her bag. She looked at him in confusion as he gave a cheeky smirk.
"I just felt like holding them all. Race ya!" He flew off with Mavis giggling and chasing after him as they headed back to the hotel.
Dracula was wide-eyed as he saw how the ghost stopped a human from coming to the hotel. He would have to thank Danny when they meet next. He would still need to know where they were but he could ask Mavis about it back at the hotel. Speaking of, he realized he had to bolt back in order to beat them to the hotel. He jumped off the tree and flapped quickly through the forest. Weaving left and right, he was able to break through the tree line and was able to see the hotel. He felt relieved as he saw that he was about to go back in and act like nothing happened. Not to mention that if his daughter and Danny were alright, then it meant that nothing bad happened to them, wherever they went. "Well, looks like I didn't have to make the zombies-" He froze mid flight as he just remembered. "The Zombies!"
He had forgotten that he had the majority of his staff in the fake town in order to set up the scenario. That meant that there was no one to handle the guests.
Dracula began to sweat as he worried about how he would be disappointing his guests during their stay, not to mention that if Mavis saw that there were no zombies, she would start to wonder where they were. He looked back toward where the fake town before looking at the hotel. For a solid minute, he tried to make up his mind on what to do next and figured that he could do damage control... after he gets the zombies back. "I can't believe this!" He turned around and sped back to the town to tell the zombies to head back to the hotel. 'At least Mavis was going back with Danny.'
End of chapter
Well, here is your happy Halloween treat. I would have released it earlier but it took longer than I thought it would. Not to mention that I was writing another chapter for another fic as well. Though I don't think I'll make it for Halloween but I hope you enjoyed this little chapter. Even though October is over, I will not stop updating this one. I have plans for this and I WANT to get to them.
I chose to have Johnny's cameo here since it was the best place to put him. It was a small scene but at least you now know that I didn't remove him from existence.
Mavis had her first experience with humans, and it isn't under the control of her father. So she isn't afraid of humans now.
There are gonna be more changes to what happens in the movie scenarios and I hope you look forward to them.
Danny's reveal will come up but it will come up later.
Hope you guys liked this chapter and look forward to the rest of it.
Flames will be ignored.
