Drain

Kagome sat silently beside the throne of the young heir, though her tail twitched with her eagerness to move and play. Beside her, said heir was fast asleep. His chin rested against his chest, drool dribbling down his chin onto a beautiful silk gi. It was as if he was always sleeping now that he had his two-legged shape.

Rolling her eyes, she leaned over the arm of the chair and pressed her nose against his ear. He yelped and startled awake, staring about him in sleepy confusion, before he turned citrine eyes to her. She offered up a doggy grin and turned back to face the crowed.

"Stu'did 'gome," he mumbled as he too turned back around to face the ball room. Often times he wanted to shift back to his four legged form but Father and Mother said this shape required more power, and it was important to show his subjects he could control this shape. But he was always tired and Kagome seemed to think it was her duty to keep him awake. The drain on his energy substantial, he yawned again and fought the way his eyes drifted shut.
