Toga reached for his son while Fuiasu carefully picked up Kagome. "Where were their guards?" he demanded tersly, running gentle hands through soft hair as he searched for bumps on his sons head. "Why were they out this far?!" His voice became a deadly soft snarl as he looked around his guards, searching for answers. It was his mate that answered.
"I let them out into the gardens. As to their guards, it would not surprise me if the two outran them as they came here." She stood, uncaring that the girls blood ruined the kimono. "That does not matter. " Glaring at the guards, she motioned to the girl in her arms. "If you value your lives, this will not happen again. For both of their protection, this attack and Kagome's subsequent role in it, will not be spoken of."
"You mean about her purity," murmured one of the soldiers as he studied the girl. His lips tilted into a smile and he bowed, answering for them all. "She protected the Heir. For that alone, she has our protection as well."
