Atsuki worked carefully over the girl, nimble fingers sewing up the knife wounds in her paw and shoulder. He felt through fur for broken bones and sighed when he felt two ribs move under probing fingers. Glancing at the young heir sleeping in the bed beside hers, he sighed. She had certainly done an amazing job of protecting him, earning her own injuries in the process. If he was not careful, she would step over the line of no return. Her wounds were grievous for one so small.

It was not because of the threat against his life that he worked diligently over her. It was not because she was a patient and he was a healer. Deep inside, the Hare felt a connection to the girl, one he did not quite understand but that pulled at his heart none the less. Even had he not known her, he would have been at her side, healing where others would have let her die.

Turning to his table, he reached for the gauze and a few thicker bandages he would use to wrap her ribs and could only hope she would remain still long enough for them to heal. Whatever magic had healed her first injury had faded for though she still healed faster than a regular human, it was not quite as quick as a youkai's.

Facing her again, he stared and felt consternation stir in his gut. He had not seen her human form since she was first brought to him and the hare was almost certain in the several years since that she had not attained such a form. Sighing, he moved forward and began to rewrap her hand and shoulder. "If you keep changing when you're with me, the Lady is going to think it's my doing," he muttered as he gently finished his duty.
