Jamie walked around the room with his baby boy tucked into his arms. Patrick weighed 9 pounds and 2 ounces. He wasn't going to let anyone take this innocent little boy away from him or Eddie. The pit in his stomach returned as his mind flashed back to several hours earlier.

"Ok, skin to baby in less than 60 seconds. Through the muscle. Ok. Use those retractors and pull."

Swallowing once more, Jamie did what Doctor Matthews asked. He furrowed his eyebrows when all he could see was red. Three nurses began soaking up the blood with a bunch of gauze. He'd never seen a C-section before. Especially not one his wife was going through. Doctor Matthews looked at Jamie.

"Let's get this beautiful baby into the world. Follow my lead."

He found himself inwardly gasping as his and Doctor Matthew's hands emerged with a screaming little boy in tow. Doctor Matthews smiled behind her mask and nearly shouted towards Jamie.

"Congratulations daddy! It's a boy!'

Jamie felt tears come to his eyes. He couldn't believe what he'd just witnessed and been a part of. As he cut his son's umbilical cord, separating him from Eddie, he felt the tears begin to fall. Two of the nurses began to clean Patrick up, but his screaming continued. His discontent apparent at this new world which was much cooler than he liked, and it was too bright. Jamie was instantly brought out of his thoughts as Patrick placed a fist in his mouth and began sucking on it. Jamie nodded down at him and then heard Eddie began to groan in the bed. She'd been transferred to another room to a clean bed with clean sheets and blankets. Walking closer to Eddie, he saw her open her eyes. He wasn't exactly sure what she could see yet, just coming out of her unconscious state and all.

"Hi honey. I have someone who'd like to meet you."

Eddie blinked her eyes a few times and her vision began to clear. She tried to sit up to get a better look at the baby tucked into Jamie's arms.

"Ben? Is that our baby?"

Jamie nodded and got closer to Eddie. She managed to get herself into a sitting position, but not without an excruciating amount of pain that followed. Holding her arms out to Jamie, he carefully placed Patrick in them.

"This is our son Patrick."

Jamie watched as Eddie's eyes became big as saucers.

"He's beautiful. But he looks just like the decoy…"

Nodding his head, Jamie ran a hand over Patrick's patch of downy soft blond hair.

"I know. That I don't understand. But let's not go down that rabbit hole again. This little guy is hungry."

Patrick had squirmed his way almost halfway out of his receiving blanket and was screaming his head off. Eddie made a slight face at Patrick and spoke down to him.

"Ok sweetie. I know you're hungry. Let me just get situated here. Ben? Can you help me please?"

Jamie nodded his head and helped Eddie out. His smile grew as he watched his son latch on and begin to suckle. He watched as Patrick's tiny hand flexed against Eddie's skin. He made tiny cooing sounds. He was enjoying this moment of bonding with his wife and son. His cooing turned to slight whimpers and Jamie ran a hand over Patrick's tiny head one more time.

"What's the matter buddy? It's ok. Mommy and daddy will keep you safe."

Patrick continued to whimper as he had his meal. Eddie gave Jamie a worried look. She tried to lean down slightly to place a kiss to his forehead, but she found a shooting pain accompany it.

"Ah. That really hurts."

Jamie rubbed her back and placed a kiss to her forehead.

"It's ok. We can get you something for the pain. Doctor Matthews had to cut through some muscle to get to Patrick."

Eddie winced and tried to get comfortable. Patrick continued to whimper, and he had, had his fill of nourishment. His little arms had made their way out of the receiving blanket, and they were flailing. Jamie carefully swaddled Patrick back up and began to burp him.

"Ok bud. Let's get all that gas out of your little tummy. There we go. That's it. Good boy Patrick."

Eddie gave a smirk and then it turned into a smile.

"He's already like his daddy. I think I saw a little smirk there. How much does he weigh?"

Jamie smiled and traced Patrick's little nose. He was trying to memorize every inch of him.

"9 pounds and 2 ounces. I don't think I've ever been so nervous in my life. I think being here I've helped deliver more babies than I have anywhere else."

Eddie smiled and watched Jamie walk around the room with their son. It was a moment of peace she wanted to burn into her memory. It was the one tiny moment they had to themselves as a family. She would fight tooth and nail against anyone that tried to take their son from them. She didn't care how much pain she was in. She struggled for a moment or two trying to get herself covered back up again, but she got it. Eddie watched as Jamie placed Patrick inside a plastic bassinet. He was now fast asleep. Jamie ran a hand over his tiny head one last time and then place another tender kiss to his forehead.

"Have a go sleep buddy. Mommy and daddy are right here."

Eddie had managed to cover herself with the blanket and yawned.

"I'm going to have another nap bub. Wake me when he's hungry again?"

Jamie nodded and came over to Eddie, placing tender kiss to her lips. She reciprocated. Coming up for air, Eddie opened her eyes and looked Jamie in the eye.

"I love you. Both of you."

A sharp knock sounded on the bedroom door, and Jamie went towards it. It opened slightly.

"Sorry to bother you doc, but the patient downstairs really needs you. She looks really bad. Come quickly."

Jamie managed to look back at Eddie and then came out of the room, closing the door behind him. He sighed as the guard put the black hood over his head. He let him lead him down the winding staircase and into the damp smelly passageways under the house. He was pretty sure these tunnels might have been an old sewer system at one point or another. A door lock clicked, and Jamie was shoved inside the room. The door closed and the hood coming off his head. He saw Sienna in the bed, the fireplace behind her roaring with a freshly lit fire. She was still struggling for breath. Shaking his head, Jamie came over towards Sienna and sat down in a chair next to the bed.

"Here Sienna. I can turn up the oxygen a little bit. There. Does that help?"

Sienna nodded, but she still had a sheen of sweat covering her forehead and the hospital gown she was wearing was soaked with it. Jamie turned his attention to the guard.

"Can we get her some clean clothes? This hospital gown is filthy."

The guard looked at him and frowned.

"Sorry doc. Orders were for me to keep her down here. Came straight from the boss."

Jamie had to try his best to no grit his teeth.

"She should be afforded at least some clean clothes. You've been giving her food and water. She's not well."

Jamie was taking his role very seriously. He took a penlight from his coat pocket and shined it into Sienna's eyes. She tried to look away.

"Doctor Stevenson, that's too bright."

Jamie quickly apologized and shined the light away from her face. He furrowed his eyebrows when the light landed on a bruise that was starting to form on her left cheek. Jamie ventured into a question. He tried to read Sienna's expression in the low light from the fireplace in the background.

"Where did you get that bruise Sienna?"

Sienna winced and looked away as Jamie carefully touched it with his fingers.

"I don't want to talk about it."

Nose flaring, he turned his attention towards the guard behind him.

"Did you do this to her?"

The guard sounded surprised by his question.

"No. I would never do that to a woman."

Jamie kept his facial expression neutral.

"Maybe it wasn't you, but it was someone in the house. Do you know who?"

The guard shifted his eyes nervously.

"I'm not supposed to tell you who did it."

Jamie was done playing this game.

"Did they do anything else to her?"

The guard grabbed Jamie by the back of the neck.

"Enough questions doc. Can you make her better?"

Jamie felt his shoulder slump.

"She needs stronger antibiotics. I need to consult with Doctor Matthews. I'm a pediatrician if you haven't noticed. Not an Obstetrician. Post postpartum complications aren't really in my wheelhouse."

The guard let go of the back of Jamie's neck and shoved him slightly.

"Speak English doc."

Jamie clarified as he fixed the blankets around Sienna.

"After a mother gives birth, there are things that can happen. I won't go into the gory details with you. It could take all night to explain. Short story, she needs stronger antibiotics."

The guard nodded and Jamie spoke to Sienna one more time.

"I'll get Doctor Matthews down here to take a look at you again, ok? I'll be back in about an hour."

Sienna nodded and closed her eyes. The guard put the hood over Jamie's head and lead him out of Sienna's room and back into the damp tunnel. He was expecting to go back up the winding staircase and into the house. But Jamie felt the hair on the back of his neck begin to stand on end when he and the guard reached a metal door that was locked. The guard opened the door and guided Jamie inside. Once inside, an awful smell hit Jamie's nose. It took every bit of him not to gag as the hood was removed from his head and blinding light assaulted his eyes. Once his eyes adjusted, he couldn't believe what he was seeing in front of him. The guard pointed at all the bodies in the room.

"Ronald Rolanil is a dangerous man. Don't let his charming smile and welcoming manner fool you. This is what he's been doing with the women that come into the house. They disappear because he's been giving them something to stop their hearts. He's been dumping the bodies here. There are more rooms like this."

Jamie felt the pit in his stomach grow.

"Why are you showing me all this?"

The guards gaze softened.

"I'm showing you this because I've been a part of this operation for three years. Officer Ferguson. We still don't have enough evidence to bust this ring wide open. We have to catch him in the act of murdering these women."

Jamie wasn't sure if he believed the guard or not. But he was so deep in this now, and it was hard to tell where the lines were. They were so blurred he wasn't sure what was the truth and what wasn't anymore.
