Chapter 36: Liberated Hollow Bastion: Part 1

(NEW POLL UP ON MY PROFILE. PLEASE CHECK IT OUT)

Returning from the distorted pocket dimensions of swirling colours, the heroes made their triumphant march to the Grand Library of Hollow Bastion, following Tails, Leon, Yuffie, and Aerith. As the grandiose golden doors swung open to the heart of knowledge, their friends awaited them with eager anticipation. Team Chaotix, Rouge, Omega, Cid, and Knuckles greeted them with jubilant cheers and wide smiles.

"You did it!" Charmy's voice buzzed with excitement, his wings fluttering rapidly as he stood alongside Vector and Espio.

"An exceptional victory," Espio remarked, a sense of pride evident in his tone.

"Outstanding work!" Vector exclaimed, his thumbs pointing skyward in admiration. "The darkness has been banished from this realm!"

"Bravo, bravo boys!" Rouge applauded, her eyes gleaming with admiration.

"Mission accomplished," Omega's mechanical voice declared, a note of satisfaction in his words. "Keyhole Secure!"

"Thanks, everyone," Sonic replied with gratitude. "But seeing the Biolizard there, guarding the Keyhole, was a bit unnerving. How it ended up in that strange place, after it was destroyed years ago, I'll never understand."

"The Biolizard was there?" Tails remarked in surprise. "That's... unexpected."

"Tell me about it," Sonic said, shaking his head. "This whole adventure has been one surprise after another. How it got there, let alone serving as the guardian of the Keyhole, is beyond me."

"I suppose a 'well done' is in order for sealing that Keyhole and dealing with that Biolizard menace," Knuckles added, a genuine sense of relief in his voice. "Hollow Bastion is safe for now."

"Thanks, Knucks," Sonic replied with a playful tone, his smirk evident. "Not every day I get thanks from you."

"Yeah, yeah, don't get used to it," Knuckles warned, his grin matching Sonic's playful demeanor. "Now, did you happen to stumble upon any Master Emerald shards while you were sealing the Keyhole?"

"Sorry, buddy," Sonic replied with a shrug, his expression apologetic. "No luck on the shards front."

"Ugh, figures," Knuckles muttered in frustration, his fists clenching slightly. "They've gotta be around here somewhere."

"Oh, Knucky, need a hand finding those elusive shards?" Rouge teased, nudging Knuckles playfully and flashing him a mischievous smile. "Maybe a real treasure hunter can help you out."

"Not a chance, Rouge," Knuckles retorted, shooting her a pointed look. "I can handle it on my own."

"Speaking of the other shards of the Master Emerald, where are the ones you have collected?" Sonic questioned, turning his attention back to Knuckles. "Last time I checked, you were building together the remaining pieces in the waterways of Traverse Town."

"I brought the half-built Master Emerald with me on this trip," Knuckles confirmed, his tone serious. "The G.U.N operatives are looking after it as I search for the remaining pieces. It should be safe with them."

"Don't be so sure," Rouge interjected, her tone teasing.

"Hey, stay away from my Emerald, Bat!" Knuckles retorted, his expression stern.

Sonic chuckled lightly at this interaction, "You should keep all sacred gems and items with you, pal. Or, give them to someone you can trust. Like me with the Chaos Emeralds. I have the silver one, with Tails looking after the other five." He glanced at Tails for confirmation. "Right pal!"

"You bet, Sonic!" Tails confirmed with a smile. "They are safe with me, and the red one is with Shadow."

"Right you are," Sonic nodded in agreement. "See, Knuckles, trust is key."

"Well, I wouldn't trust that bat with Emerald," Knuckles scoffed, gesturing to Rouge. "She would sell them for a fortune, or to a Moogle for a quick buck!"

"Oh, Knucky, have a little faith in me," Rouge teased once more. "Perhaps you should trust me to look after your shards."

"Back off!" Knuckles remarked, his tone firm.

As the banter continued, Cid and Leon observed the exchange with stoic expressions, their focus unwavering. Cid, with his hands firmly planted on his hips and the ever-present toothpick dancing between his lips, watched the interactions of the heroes with a keen intensity.

"Come on, Cid," Yuffie chimed in, her voice teasing yet affectionate. "Don't you think our heroes deserve a thank you? After all, they just saved the day."

"Yeah, Cid," Sonic interjected with a smirk. "You gotta show some appreciation for our epic Keyhole-sealing skills. Not every day you get to witness such greatness, ya know?"

Cid's gruff demeanour softened slightly as he turned his attention to the heroes, a hint of admiration shining in his eyes.

"Hey, don't get too cocky," Cid replied with a gruff chuckle, though there was a twinkle of respect in his gaze. "But yeah, you did good. Real good."

Yuffie grinned mischievously, nudging Cid with her elbow. "See, I told you they'd pull through."

"Thanks, Cid," Donald replied, thankful for the nice comments.

Cid rolled his eyes, but there was a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

"Yeah, yeah, I'll give 'em their due credit. Nice work, everyone."

Sora scanned the group of humans and Mobians, his eyes searching for a familiar face among the gathered heroes.

"Hey, where's Kairi?" he inquired, a hint of concern in his voice. "She's here in Hollow Bastion, right?"

"And what about Amy?" Sonic chimed in, his blue eyes darting around in search of the pink hedgehog.

"Oh, they're off exploring the castle," Aerith explained, her voice gentle and reassuring. "They're with the princesses and some of our new friends whose worlds haven't been restored yet."

"Who's here?" Silver inquired, his gaze shifting from one companion to another. "Who hasn't been able to return home?"

"Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, and Princess Elise are still here," Yuffie replied, casting a sympathetic glance at the time-travelling hero. "But we managed to get Jasmine and Ophelia home on our way here."

"And what about the prisoners Knuckles rescued?" Sonic pressed.

"Rika and Tyris made it home safely," Knuckles confirmed, his tone filled with determination. "But Moegi and Blaze are still exploring the halls of this place for the time being."

"We also dropped Alice back safely," Tails added with a smile. "Wonderland never fell to the darkness, thanks to your help."

"She'll always be an honorary member of Team Chaotix," Vector proclaimed proudly. "Her assistance with those Ansem Reports and the Dalmiation case was invaluable."

"Those cute puppies were reunited with their parents thanks to Alice's help," Charmy added with an innocent tone. "She is the best!"

"Absolutely," Espio agreed, his expression reflecting admiration. "She's one of a kind."

"Wally and Gallade are here too," Rouge interjected.

"Really?" Sora's eyes widened in surprise.

"Affirmative," Omega confirmed with his usual robotic efficiency.

"We couldn't just leave the kid and his Pokémon all alone in Traverse Town," Yuffie added, a note of compassion in her voice. "We're not heartless, you know."

"I'm glad to hear that some folks made it home," Goofy remarked, a warm smile spreading across his face.

"Yeah, and hopefully, we can help the others get back to where they belong soon," Donald chimed in, eager to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed.

Leon who kept quiet between the conversations, had his arms folded and his usual stern and serious look on his face. There was a lot to discuss with the group of heroes.

As the conversations ebbed and flowed among the group, Leon remained silent, his arms folded and his expression stern and serious. Despite the lighthearted atmosphere surrounding the sealing of the Keyhole, he knew there were pressing matters that needed to be addressed.

"Listen up, everyone," Leon interjected, his tone firm and commanding, cutting through the jovial chatter. All eyes turned to him, the warmth of the moment fading as his serious demeanour took centre stage.

"While it's great that we've sealed the Keyhole," he continued, his gaze sweeping over the assembled heroes, "we've received some troubling news during our journey here."

The shift in tone was palpable, the air heavy with anticipation as the group braced themselves for what Leon had to say. It was clear that whatever developments had occurred required their immediate attention.

"There have been developments," Leon stated bluntly, his voice devoid of any hint of emotion. "And we need to address them as a team."

"OK, who wants to shoot first?" Sonic asked, his eyes scanning the room, searching for a volunteer among his comrades.

Tails stepped forward, his usually cheerful demeanour replaced with a more serious expression.

"On our way here, we detected some strong energy readings emanating from a distant world," he revealed, his blue eyes reflecting his concern. "And it seems to be pure darkness."

"Ansem?" Sonic's voice was laced with uncertainty as he voiced the question that lingered in everyone's minds.

"Most likely," Rouge chimed in, her tone indicating she was already on top of the situation. "G.U.N. is currently investigating further. They'll report back to us once they have more information."

"Speaking of G.U.N.," Yuffie interjected, stepping forward to share her piece of the puzzle. "They've set up a base here on Hollow Bastion."

Sora's curiosity piqued. "Why here?" he inquired, eager to understand the reasoning behind the decision.

"With the darkness sealed away and the threat of Maleficent and the Heartless gone, this world can finally be rebuilt to its former glory," Aerith explained, her voice carrying a sense of hope.

"And it used to be our home, many years ago," Leon added, his tone firm and determined. "We want to reclaim it and make it ours once again."

"That's fantastic news!" Goofy exclaimed, his trademark smile brightening the room.

"The feds are lending a hand to get things started," Cid remarked, his no-nonsense attitude shining through. "These G.U.N. folks ain't too bad, for a bunch of bureaucrats from another world."

"Debatable," Sonic muttered under his breath with a mischievous smirk, earning a reproachful glance from Rouge. After all, it was her organization they were talking about.

"That reminds me," Rouge said, her gaze still fixed on Sonic. "My boss wants a word with you, big blue."

"Me?" Sonic replied, slightly taken aback by the unexpected request. "Why me?"

"I think it has to do with Shadow," Rouge explained, her tone carrying a hint of seriousness. "He's been asking questions about his whereabouts."

"Well, he's still in that dark realm," Sonic confirmed, turning to Silver and Knuckles for confirmation. "Right, guys?"

"Right," Silver nodded firmly. "He communicated with us from there to shed light on Ansem's involvement in all of this mess."

Rouge and Omega, the G.U.N. agents, turned their attention to Knuckles, silently seeking his agreement with Silver's statement. Knuckles offered a subtle nod in confirmation.

"Either way," Rouge continued, turning her focus back to Sonic, "the Commander wants answers."

Sonic let out a weary sigh and ran a hand through his quills, resigning himself to the inevitable interrogation.

"Fine," he said with a defeated tone. "Where can I find your Commander?"

"He's set up base outside, in what used to be the town square" Rouge explained. "You can't miss it."

As Sonic turned to Sora and gave a rueful shake of his head, Omega interjected.

"Silver, you are also required for questioning," the robot stated matter-of-factly.

"Really?" Silver asked, his surprise evident in his voice.

"Affirmative," Omega confirmed with his characteristic robotic precision. "The Commander wishes to discuss your time-traveling activities."

Silver let out a resigned sigh, "Okay, I'll go speak with him."

Sora saw Silver's expression, it was one of concern and anxiousness. The Keyblade wielder needed to express how much Silver helped them fight back the darkness.

"If Silver needs backing up and a good word, count us in," Sora declared, his voice filled with resolve. He turned to Donald and Goofy, seeking their agreement. "Right, Donald and Goofy?"

"Absolutely!" Donald exclaimed, his feathers ruffled with determination.

"Silver's been there for us," Goofy chimed in. "We'll be there for him too."

"He's proven himself time and time again," Sora affirmed, his voice brimming with conviction. "He's more than just a teammate; he's a true friend."

Silver, hearing those heartfelt words, felt a sense of warmth envelop him, momentarily alleviating the weight of his concerns. He turned to Sora, a grateful smile gracing his features, and nodded in appreciation.

Rouge's smile widened at Sora's words, though her eyes betrayed a hint of concern. Meanwhile, Leon stepped forward, his serious demeanour softening slightly.

"I believe Team Chaotix has an update with the Ansem reports," Leon interjected, shifting the focus to the next pressing matter at hand.

"Really," Sonic spoke up. "What you found out Vec?"

Vector stepped forward, seemingly holding the reports in his hands. He was eager to share what he, Espio, Charmy and Alice found.

"Alright, everyone, gather 'round for a tale filled with mystery and intrigue!" Vector's voice echoed with excitement as he lifted a torn piece of paper into the air.

With a dramatic flourish, he adjusted his spectacles, their origin a mystery, and prepared to unravel the enigmatic discoveries before them.

"So, here's the deal," he began, his eyes twinkling with a hint of mischief. "We were knee-deep in the usual detective work, chasing down leads and cracking the Ansem Report case, when this little gem arrived in our mail!"

"It arrived in the mail?!" Sora exclaimed in disbelief.

"That's right, kiddo," Vector confirmed, nodding solemnly. "Straight to our doorstep, like a mystery wrapped in an enigma."

"Yep, just your average day at the office," Charmy chimed in with a grin, buzzing around Vector's head like an eager detective-in-training.

Espio nodded in agreement, his calm demeanour contrasting with the buzz of excitement in the room.

"Indeed, it was an unexpected delivery, but one that piqued our curiosity nonetheless."

"And boy, did it deliver!" Vector continued, his voice brimming with enthusiasm. "Inside, we found this torn-up report, like a puzzle just waiting to be solved!"

"But who sent it?" Donald interjected, his curiosity piqued.

"That's the million-dollar question, my feathery friend," Vector replied with a sly grin. "For now, let's focus on what we've got."

With that, Vector cleared his throat and began to read from the torn piece of paper:

He was very knowledgeable on many topics, and we deepened our friendship as we conversed companionably.

Upon his advice, I decided to review the data obtained at my basement lab.

That is when I discovered the "Ansem's Reports."

Though they bore my name, the only one I had written was the number 0.

He had gone on to pen numbers 1 through 8 himself.

Yes — the first subject in my foolish experiments.

As the echoes of Vector's voice faded into the silence, the room hung heavy with uncertainty. Sonic's furrowed brow betrayed his confusion, while Silver's gaze was clouded with an inscrutable doubt.

"Who is this 'he'?" Silver finally voiced the question that lingered in the minds of all present.

Vector's response was tinged with a solemn gravity, his detective instincts sharpening as he delved into the heart of the mystery.

"That's the puzzle, my friends. Who is this enigmatic 'he' who guided the writer's hand with such profound advice?"

Espio, ever the observer, interjected with a note of contemplation, "The final lines, however, hold the most tantalizing clues."

"It's a mystery!" Charmy said loudly in excitement.

"You can say that again, Charmy," Knuckles added, his head spinning due to the cryptic mystery before them.

Amid this cryptic revelation, Goofy's thoughtful expression illuminated the room as he pondered aloud.

"So, are there truly two Ansem's?" The king's captain said, trying to put two and two together.

The room fell into a weighted silence, broken only by the steady rhythm of their collective thoughts. Sora's voice, laced with a newfound resolve, pierced through the uncertainty.

"Then who is the Ansem responsible for this chaos?" Sora asked, his voice laced with uncertainty.

In that moment, Vector's keen intellect sparked to life, weaving together the threads of the mystery with a clarity born of years of detective work.

"This Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, is a master of deception, a shadow lurking in the darkness, assuming the mantle of Ansem as his own," Vector proclaimed, his words echoing with a sense of urgency and determination.

"He's a big, liar, liar, pants on fire!" Charmy chimed in with his innocence and buzzing energy."

"What Charmy is trying to say is, this isn't the real Ansem," Espio affirmed.

Sonic's expression shifted to one of bewilderment as he processed the gravity of the situation.

"Really?" the blue hedgehog asked incredulously, his mind reeling with the implications of Vector's revelation.

Leon unfolded his arms and stepped closer to the group, his gaze steady and unwavering.

"Ansem was our ruler and leader," he stated firmly. "A man of science and discovery. But this... this imposter, from what I can gather and from the descriptions provided by Knuckles and Kairi when they saw him earlier, is not our Ansem."

Sora's brows furrowed in confusion as he processed this new information, his mind struggling to make sense of the startling revelation. Donald and Goofy looked equally perplexed, their expressions mirroring Sora's confusion as they grappled with the implications of what they had just learned.

Sonic, usually quick-witted and full of confidence, found himself stumped by the complexity of the situation. He turned to Tails, hoping the genius fox could provide some much-needed clarity, but even Tails appeared baffled by the revelation as well.

Silver, who had remained silent throughout the discussion, felt a growing sense of unease gnawing at him. The figure he had encountered, the one who had possessed Riku and sought to unlock the door to darkness, stirred something within him. There was a familiarity to their presence, something he couldn't quite place. But amidst the tension and uncertainty, Silver struggled to gather his thoughts, his mind clouded by the weight of the revelation.

"So, the Ansem that manipulated Maleficent and Riku, the one behind all this, is an imposter?" Sora asked, seeking clarification.

Yuffie, Aerith, and Cid nodded in unison, their expressions solemn as they confirmed Sora's suspicions. As former citizens of Ansem's world, they knew the true nature of their former ruler, and this imposter did not fit the description.

"And the reports we found along the way... they were the works of this Seeker of Darkness?" Sonic interjected, piecing together the puzzle.

"So it seems" Vector confirmed with a decisive nod. "This Ansem, who has been causing all this chaos of late, is nothing more than an imposter."

"He's a big, fat phoney!" Charmy chimed in, his voice ringing with a mix of frustration and determination.

"Then, who is he?" Silver demanded, his voice laced with stern determination. "Who is this imposter posing as Ansem?"

"That's what we're trying to find out," Vector replied, turning to Espio and Charmy. "Since we're in the real Ansem's domain, we'll investigate the library and the castle for clues."

"We might uncover more information about this fake Ansem," Espio added confidently.

Meanwhile, Knuckles, feeling the weight of the mystery pressing down on him, turned to Rouge and Omega, hoping for some insight from the G.U.N agents.

"Do you have anything on this imposter?" he asked, his voice tinged with frustration.

Rouge paused, contemplating the question before shaking her head regretfully.

"Unfortunately, we don't have any information on this imposter," she admitted.

Knuckles let out a frustrated grunt.

"Well, aren't you just a barrel of help," he muttered sarcastically.

Rouge shot him a playful yet stern look.

"We don't have all the answers, Knucklehead," she retorted.

Sonic, eager for any lead, turned to Omega, hoping the robot might have some relevant data.

"Does he have anything on file?" Sonic inquired, his eyes fixed on the robotic powerhouse.

"Negative," Omega replied stoically. "Ansem Files, 1 match detected. Ansem, location: unknown. 70% chance deceased."

"70% chance deceased?" Sonic echoed, a shiver running down his spine at the implication.

"Ok, this is now getting complex," Knuckles muttered, feeling the weight of the situation bearing down on him.

"I'll say!" Donald quacked out in surprise.

"What a mystery," Goofy chimed in, baffled by this revelation also.

Sonic looked again at Tails, but the fox just shrugged back in utter confusion.

Leon, sensing the need for clarity, stepped forward once more, addressing the group with a calm yet authoritative tone.

"Even before our world was consumed by darkness, Ansem was always engrossed in his studies and research," he explained. "He rarely appeared in public, preferring to delve deep into the mysteries of science and discovery."

"He was a good ruler, but distant," Aerith added, her voice tinged with nostalgia. "Always locked away in his castle, pursuing knowledge beyond the grasp of ordinary minds."

"We saw his apprentices more often than him," Yuffie chimed in. "But Ansem himself was a rare sight indeed."

"Do you know these apprentices?" Donald asked, eager to know more.

"Not really," Cid replied. "They kept themselves to themselves. Some seemed genuine, others seemed rather up their own asses."

"They were rather secretive, like their master," Aerith explained further.

"Sounds like a cult," Sonic interjected. "Rather secretive. You think they had secret handshakes?"

"That would be something," Charmy replied, intrigued by this. "Hey Vector, why don't we have a secret handshake?"

"Not now Charmy!" Vector responded sternly, telling the young bee to be quiet.

"So, what happened to this Ansem?" Sora asked, turning the conversation back around to the elephant in the room.

"Yeah, especially if G.U.N are saying he's missing, or worse still... dead," Knuckles remarked bluntly, his voice echoing the gravity of the situation.

"When our world fell into darkness, Ansem seemed to disappear," Leon replied, his tone sombre.

"Our leader disappeared without a trace!" Cid interjected with his usual brashness, frustration evident in his tone.

"Vanished?" Goofy echoed, his eyes widening in disbelief.

"Yes," Aerith confirmed with a sombre nod. "His absence threw our world into chaos."

"Like a Houdini vanishing act," Sonic remarked, trying to lighten the mood.

"Not sure who Houdini is, but yeah, he vanished," Cid replied gruffly.

"Who's Houdini?" Charmy piped up, glancing between Espio and Vector for an answer.

"Not now, Charmy," Vector replied, exchanging a knowing look with Espio.

"Without his wise leadership, our world fell on hard times," Leon said with a deep sigh, his words heavy with the weight of the past.

"And that's how we ended up as refugees in Traverse Town," Yuffie added, her voice heavy with the weight of painful memories. "Our homes lost to the darkness, our lives upended."

Silver listened silently, his mind consumed by a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. Guilt gnawed at him like a relentless beast, its claws digging deep into his conscience. He couldn't shake the feeling that somehow, he was responsible for the suffering of these newfound friends.

As Yuffie recounted the tragic fate of their world, Silver's heart sank with each word. He felt a heavy weight pressing down on him, burdened by the knowledge of the pain they had endured. Yet, amidst his empathy for their plight, a sense of unease gnawed at him from within.

"I need to go get some air," Silver finally spoke, his voice tinged with a hint of resignation.

The time traveller turned away from the group, his steps heavy as he made his way towards the door.

"S-Silver?" Sonic's voice called out, filled with concern.

"Don't worry about me," Silver replied, his tone subdued. "I'll meet you at the G.U.N base, Sonic."

As he left the room, a storm of emotions raged within Silver's heart. He couldn't shake the feeling of guilt that consumed him, nor could he ignore the growing sense of foreboding that lingered in the back of his mind. Something was amiss, and Silver couldn't help but feel that he was at the centre of it all.

"Did I say something?" Yuffie asked, her tone filled with confusion as she looked around at the group. "I didn't mean to cause any offence or hurt."

"Don't worry about it, Yuffie," Sonic reassured her. "Silver's just got a lot on his mind."

"I hope he's okay," Aerith said, her voice laced with empathy.

"He's probably just processing everything," Tails chimed in. "The future he comes from sounds like a pretty dark place."

Leon and Cid exchanged knowing glances, understanding the weight of Silver's burden. Aerith's expression softened with sorrow as she sensed the turmoil within the psychic hedgehog.

"Well, regardless," Vector interjected, breaking the sombre silence. "Espio, Charmy, and I will do some snooping around here. We'll let you know if we find anything."

"Count me in too," Tails added eagerly. "I want to explore this library and see what secrets it holds."

"Why's that, Tails?" Sonic asked, curious about his friend's sudden interest.

"I'm always up for expanding my knowledge," Tails replied with a grin.

"And who knows, maybe I'll find something useful in here."

"Always the eager learner, huh?" Sonic chuckled, giving Tails a playful nudge. "That's why you're the brains of this operation, buddy."

"Omega and I will continue to chase for updates on Ansem's whereabouts, both the faker and the genuine one," Rouge declared, her tone resolute as she outlined their objectives. "We will report back anything further on that world full of darkness when we get it."

"Great," Sora said with a nod.

Omega's metallic voice reverberated through the room, adding to the gravity of the situation.

"Objective one: Investigate the dark energy on the planet where Ansem, the Seeker of Darkness, could be. Second objective: Find more data on the missing Ansem."

Sonic nodded in agreement and turned his attention to Knuckles, who stood nearby alongside Rouge and Omega.

"And what's your plan, Knuckles?" Sonic asked, curious about the echidna's next move.

Knuckles crossed his arms, his expression determined.

"Simple," the echidna replied. "I'm going to find the last pieces of my Master Emerald. They've got to be in this world. My senses are picking up their energy, but it keeps moving around."

Rouge nudged Knuckles playfully, "You sure you don't need a hand locating them?"

Knuckles shook his head, "Thanks, but I can handle this on my own."

"Fine, whatever," Rouge replied with a teasing chuckle and a shrug.

Sonic smiled at the banter between the two and then turned to Sora, Donald, and Goofy.

"What about you guys?" Sonic asked. "What's the plan while we wait for news on the Seeker of Darkness's whereabouts?"

Sora considered for a moment before answering, "I think we'll go find Kairi and our other friends. Maybe do some exploring ourselves," he said with a smile, glancing at Donald and Goofy for confirmation.

"You betcha," Donald affirmed with a nod. "Could find some handy items to face Ansem and the Heartless."

"Sure thing, pal," Goofy added, echoing Donald's sentiment.

"Sounds good," Sonic replied, pleased that his friends had a plan. "I better go see the Commander and see how I can help with these questions about Shadow."

"Right," Sora nodded. "Shall we meet up when we're all done with our tasks?"

"Good plan, pal," Sonic agreed with a nod, ready to tackle the challenges ahead alongside his friends.

"Sonic," Leon interjected, his arms still crossed as he addressed the blue hedgehog. "We're going to join you at the G.U.N base outside. We need to speak with the Commander too."

Oh? What's the discussion about?" Sonic asked, his interest piqued at Leon's words.

"To kick-start our restoration efforts," Yuffie chimed in, her hands resting confidently on her hips. "We can't afford to delay any longer."

"We're eager to begin rebuilding," Aerith added, her warmth and determination evident in her voice.

"About time we got to work!" Cid exclaimed, his tone brimming with impatience.

Sonic nodded, understanding the urgency of their mission. With purpose in his stride, he headed towards the doors leading out of the Grand Library.

"Let's not waste any time," Sonic said to the group, his tone resolute. "Every moment counts."
