CT-3714 along with his brothers CT-1999 and CT-1108 walked around in the cafeteria with their trays each holding a bowl of ramen, searching for a place to sit before they spotted an empty table and sat down before they looked up at the screen displaying the stadium where the Sports Festival was being held, while several students passed by them, a few giving them curious looks, others whispered to one another or just ignored them outright.
This was in many ways normal for the group of three, considering how the Vod'e had practically popped out of nowhere after the USJ incident, and now they could be found practically everywhere on campus while at the same time also etching Izuku's face into the entire student body's memory as they all wore his face.
And with the Sports Festival, the Vod'e had also been revealed to the entire world, something 3714 quite frankly found worrying.
"I still don't like that this is televised on live TV. Showcasing the Festival as if nothing happened is an illogical move in my opinion, especially with that crusty shabuir out there with who knows how many other Nomu and followers." He seethed, taking a sip of water as they witnessed the chaotic tank battle concluding with Izuku's team taking first place.
"I don't like it either, but it's like ori'vod said during his opening speech, they need to do this to show the villains and the entire world that they're ready to take them on and aren't shaken to the core by the attack." 1999 informed, reminding why UA was still holding the Sports Festival.
Nodding begrudgingly, 3714 let out a small sigh as the participants of the second round of the Tournament began to slowly trickle into the cafeteria and get their lunch, more than a few of them looking ruffled up and bruised.
Clasping their hands together, the three clones slowly began to dig into their meals before the noodles became too soggy to eat.
Quite a few students of both the hero classes walked past them, Itsuka gave them a friendly wave, Setsuna gave them a 'V' for victory with Waxer, Boil and Mayhem chatting with her, while those from 1-A each gave their own unique greeting, both verbal and physical such as Ochako's kind smile, Tenya's stern nod and Yuuga's sparkly wink.
The three of them were however quick to notice a raven-haired girl with a blank expression on her face walk over to them and looked at the trio, confusing them slightly.
"Can we help you, Kodai-san?" 1108 questioned the quiet member from 1-B, who talked just about as much as Koda from 1-A did.
"Mmm." she murmured to them.
"Um, sure. You can sit here." 3714 nodded and made some room for her as she seated herself next to him, placing her tray on the table.
Her lunch consisted of tomato salad with mozzarella and balsamic vinegar along with a glass of tomato juice.
"You sure do like tomatoes, huh?"
"Mmm."
"Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude, just curious. Tomatoes are quite delectable if I do say so myself, but the juices sometimes just bite into the tongue." 1999 shared his thoughts on the vegetable or fruit.
"Mmm." Yui murmured once again as she cut a slice of tomato and mozzarella, before bringing the fork to her mouth, a small blush appearing on her cheeks as she chewed on the salad.
"So, may I inquire why you've decided to join us, Kodai-san? Most people tend to just ignore us." 1108 asked the quiet girl as he drank some broth from the bowl.
"Mmm."
"What do you mean you don't fit in here? You're a hero in training, not to mention you're popular, on the contrary, we're at best tolerated and are only approached by every tenth person." Fil said, wanting to make the girl feel better, but feeling a bit awkward due to her basically showing up out of nowhere.
"Hm."
"You're popular only because of your beauty and 'cold' persona?"
"Hm!"
"Wait…you have a fanclub?"
"Hm."
"So those clubs…they're all…stalkers?"
"Mm-mn."
"Oh…they're those weirdos that take anime too seriously, huh?"
"Hmm…"
The other clones looked at the two in slight confusion, wondering just how in the world their brother was even capable of understanding the girl.
"How… are you doing that?" 1999 asked as he tilted his head, slightly worried about his brother's hearing.
He looked back at him and shrugged.
"I honestly have no clue, I just do. I guess it's a bit like ori'vods muttering" he said, before sighing a bit while looking up at the screen.
They still had plenty of time, and as such, they got to know each other a bit better.
"Ah, you're just not a fan of expressing yourself verbally. You're better at letting your actions convey your meaning."
"Mm."
As the recreational games began to play, a few of the students continued to play, while a few stayed.
Yui was one of them.
It was at that moment, however, that a group of Gen-Ed kids, a few even a member of Kodai's fanclub walked by with food on their plates.
"Look at these clones…pretending that they're human. Might want to take care, Kodai. Don't want to be the Porcelain Doll mixed with the broken toys."
The group started to laugh as they walked away but the commenter grunted as a plate of tomato and mozzarella crashed into the back of his head.
"HEY!"
Growling as he turned, he immediately looked at the clones with a glare.
"Which one of you Plain Faces threw that?!" he demanded as he grit his teeth.
"I did." An unfamiliar voice said, making everyone turn their heads towards the owner.
It was Yui.
"Now apologize to my friends."
"I like this girl!" 1108 grinned, before facing the three General students glares while raising an eyebrow.
"What did you say to me?" The student said as he got closer, only for 3714 to stand and hold his hand up.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Back off. I suggest you keep moving," He said sternly.
The Gen-Ed student glared at him and then back at Yui before noticing 1108 stand up as well as a bunch of other clones stand up behind him from other tables.
He scoffed and turned around.
"You hero course students are all the same," He muttered as he turned around. "Bet she wouldn't even have gotten in if she hadn't battered those lashes of hers."
At the last comment however, an entire food tray got thrown into the back of his head, making him drop his own and turn around with smoke coming out if his ears, this time the perpetrator was neither Kodai nor 3714, 1999 or 1108, but a clone from another table with slightly more bulk, now standing with a small pile of trays.
"THAT'S IT!" The student roared as he got into a fighting stance along with his two cronies.
A few other Gen-Ed students also got involved, many due to friendships, others due to disgruntlement from being denied the hero course and not only have to contend with the current students, but also clones since it was well known at this point that some clones were getting personal training/education from teachers.
"Oh you want some?! Come and get it!" 1999 shouted back, before getting on the table and jumped at the trio, knocking them to the ground.
With that, all hell broke loose, as students ran at clones who in turn tackled the students or took them down with close quarters combat techniques they had been taught whilst in the mindscape.
The fist to fist brawl soon turned into something even more chaotic, as food started to fly along with even chairs and trays being used as shields and weapons, making something that more or less looked like a bar brawl straight out of an old western movie
A few Gen-Ed students tried to gang up on 1108, which merely made him laugh.
"Is that supposed to scare me? The explosive chump is scarier than you…" He said flatly, to which the students looked confused, before remembering who they were speaking of.
"Really? Bakugou? That guy is just a loudmouth loser. On another note, how does it feel being an only child from your generation? 1108 was it? Considering how many of your overhyped brothers died to a single villain, then that must mean barely anyone with one thousand is le-" The student was cut off by a fist hitting him square in the teeth and sending him flying.
Cracking his neck, he grabbed the nearest student by the collar and threw him into a crowd of the students surrounding him, before feeling a smack to the back of his head which sent him flying onto a table where someone was sitting and straight into their meal, making them hit the table in anger, with the dazed clone looking up, before freezing up in terror when he saw whose meal he had interrupted.
It was another clone, however this one was wearing slightly different armor than the rest of them. Instead of wearing the slim and white plates, he was wearing gray armor with the latin letter for Delta on his shoulder plate.
This was RC-1207, otherwise known as Sev, a Commando.
Now, commandos weren't originally a thing in the Vod'e, however after careful consideration with the USJ in mind, several of the higher ranked clones along with Izuku had decided that to prevent a massacre like that from happening again and in case of serious hostage situations along with sabotage was needed, they would require small teams of specially trained elite brothers who would excel in these areas.
Getting up from his table, Sev looked around at the chaos before picking up a pair of trays and threw them, with both of them hitting a student and a clone each, with the metal objects bouncing off of them and hitting another pair, which continued until practically everyone in the room were lying on the ground groaning after having been hit.
"I swear, you bloody lot… Can't even have a bowl of soup around here without being interrupted…" he grumbled as he started to walk out of the cafeteria, just as the break ended.
"All in favor of not pissing him off again?"
"...Aye…"
"The ayes have it."
Later, after nursing their bruises with a few dozen bacta patches (none of them wanted to risk RG's wrath), they showed up at the stands ready for the next match.
Well most of them.
Yui's newest group of friends was actually running a bit behind, they had decided to get Yui some food as a show of gratitude after she tossed hers at the student's head.
"Thank you for standing up for us like that, Kodai-san, but you really didn't need to throw your lunch at him." 3714 said to her, as she just shrugged and hummed while taking a sip of the tomato juice they had bought her, holding the cup with both hands as the red liquid flowed through the straw.
"Yeah…that was really-" 1108 suddenly paused and stood completely still.
Not only him, but also 3714 and 1999.
Turning around she saw that every single clone in the vicinity was standing completely still, with the sudden simultaneous halting of movement, making the ravenette drop her cup in surprise.
"G-guys?" She said in shock and slight fear before walking up to 3714 and taking off his helmet.
The young man's face was even blanker than her regular expression, as if he was an automaton waiting to receive orders along with only the barest sign of life being present in his eyes.
She tried to shake him but there was no response, even crying out his number multiple times.
None of it worked.
"Come on guys! Say something!" She finally screamed.
"...Good soldiers…follow orders…" 3714 whispered as every clone in the vicinity turned their heads towards her.
She gasped and took a step back in fear, stumbling over her feet and landing on her rear, before seeing him and the others suddenly hunch over and groan.
"W-what happened?" 3714 asked as he looked around.
"I don't know…" 1999 muttered, before he covered his mouth with a palm, seemingly feeling nauseous.
"Everybody alright!?"
"Got a few brothers that need to sit down."
#Vode. Cody. Direct message from Eraserhead, take a thirty minute break. Heroes will increase patrols for the duration.#
"N-noted… ugh, my head…" 3714 muttered, before he noticed the girl shaking in fear, having not moved from her spot at all.
"Kodai-san? What happened?"
"M-m…"
"What?"
Finally Yui couldn't take it and simply hugged him, much to his confusion, but he and the others soon hugged her back as she calmed down.
During this time, they were able to find out what caused their sudden pause, and while it was worrying, they hoped that they would be able to train resistance against it for the future.
For the moment though, the important task was calming down Yui.
"Hm…"
"Ah, I see. You're used to being the least expressive, so seeing all of us like that made you freak out, huh?"
"Mhmm…"
The group was currently sitting in the arena seats watching the fights and although Yui was still slightly shaken, she was much better than before, returning to her regular countenance.
"Sorry to put you through that."
Yui hummed again and simply leaned against them, basking in their presence.
It was odd, she thought in introspection. How quickly she'd grown to trust these young men…perhaps that spoke more of their progenitor than themselves.
Seeing them support their 'vod' with such fervor, she would never mention it to Monoma, but it gave her a chuckle when she saw him get Oklahoma Smashed out of the stage.
Seeing them chant and sing their war songs brought a chill down her spine and she pitied any villain that would stand against them.
The fight against Endeavour's son had been absolutely brutal, yet, if she wasn't mistaken, something that both sorely needed in order to move on from an event that was chaining them down.
But the last one…
It started somewhere in the crowd, and grew to a roar.
"Aruetii. Areutii. ARUETII! ARUETII! ARUETII!"
"Hm?" She asked 3714 with a light nudge of her arm.
"Aruetii. It means Betrayer."
The ensuing fight had been even more savage, what appeared to be years of aggression being let out between the two.
She hoped that Midoriya would win.
And in the end, he would, but not in the way that everybody expected.
Because Bakugo might be the one still conscious, but Midoriya was the one who was still standing.
And she could tell that that single act of defiance robbed any sort of victory for the other boy.
As she left the clones, she found herself wanting to meet them again another day, and hoping to meet more as well.
She found 3714 to be a wonderful conversationalist.
Next week as they were about to head off to their internships, Vlad King came to address them, speaking about how Nezu wanted to send clones to internships and establish a communications network not only for the student's safety but also their growth.
As Rule went to her first internship she was very much surprised to see 3714 in front of her.
She smiled.
Along the way, she heard about how the other two already came up with names for themselves, Niner and Bel, and that 3179 was still looking for a name of his own.
Niner had come up with his name a bit like his brother CT-5555 also known as Fives, with both of them choosing their names due to having a lot of the same number in their serial code.
Bel on the other hand had received his name due to often being at the school right as the bell rang, along with seemingly also enjoying the sound of bells and even carried one every now and then.
The quartet soon stepped out of the boss and looked at the agency they would intern at; a small building with some ornaments that looked straight out of a tokusatsu genre series or movie hanging above the entrance.
This was the agency of the hero Master Driller, well known as both a rescue and close quarters combat hero who always left a lasting impression on people who saw him, mostly due to having slightly over the top reactions to stuff when he wasn't composed or being professional.
Entering the establishment, they were greeted by several posters and statues of characters that starred in current and pre-quirk movies, with examples such as Super Sentai or Power Rangers as they were known in the West, along with several depictions of Godzilla and of course
"Ultraman!" Yui said excitedly, showing more passion and energy than they had seen from her so far, as the normally composed girl now looked more like the stereotypical excited schoolgirl from a lot of manga and anime.
3714 snorted at the uncharacteristic reaction, but it made sense for her to be passionate about something.
"Now that I think about it, isn't your costume inspired by Ultraman, Rule?" Bel asked, to which she nodded energetically.
Rule paused a second later, slightly stuttering as she looked back at them with a slight flush.
"Hm…?"
"Not at first, but now that I see the resemblance it is kinda obvious."
"Hrn…"
"Hey, I'm not judging, we all have our passions and inspirations. Just look at Mand'alor. He's one of if not the biggest All Might fan out there."
Before they could continue their conversation however, they were interrupted by someone dropping down from the ceiling and striking a pose with a bit of lights and some smoke accompanying them, which in turn caused 3714 to gently push Rule behind himself, Niner and Bel as they set their blasters to stun and pointed them at the person for a brief moment, before lowering them.
"Oh no…you're just as, if not more dramatic than Nau'ur…" Niner groaned as the owner of the Agency presented himself.
"Greetings, students! It is an honor to have you as my interns! Behold! Feast your eyes on the great and masterful, Master Driller!" The hero said with much fanfare and some special effects.
Yui politely clapped with a happy hum.
The three clones (somehow) pulled out score cards.
5. 6. 5.
"What? The special effects deserve an 8 at least!"
"Meh. We've seen better from Invisible Girl and Tailman, and those two are literally invisible and plain enough to blend into anything." Bel deadpanned, with Master Driller making some movements akin to being pierced by arrows.
"So cruel…" He whispered with a depressive aura before it just as quickly disappeared. "Then it is good that we have so much time for me to amaze you!" He said with renewed vigor, with the clones just giving deadpan looks under their helmets.
'Cringe…' They thought as one, before they heard the clapping of Rule increasing, with the three of them turning their heads to see she had literal stars in her eyes and sparkling just as much as Nau'ur.
"Great…" 3714 said as he felt like she somehow was going to drag them through this week and turn their opinions on the so far in their eyes, idiotic hero upside down.
It was actually a close call.
She didn't actually manage to change their minds on the hero, but they did keep their opinions to themselves as his over the top reactions to most things were just too much for them, but they did have to admit he wasn't as cringe as they had thought to begin with, as he time and time again showed that side of him only was a facade that he used to keep up the hope of the people and because he enjoyed it, while turning out to be a truly great and competent hero more than capable of the title of hero.
Something she did manage to change though, was their opinion on those over the top reactions, as both she and Master Driller apparently were so called 'chuunibyou', with the former only expressing that side of her in private and to those she trusted the most.
It was quite frankly adorable.
On the last day however, is when she implemented her plan of attack.
"Hm?"
"Rule, you're our friend but we're not doing a group pose," 3714 said sternly. The other two nodded vehemently.
"Hm!" She pouted in frustration.
"No."
She slightly stomped and narrowed her eyes at them before sighing and giving them a pleading expression.
"...Please?"
And their resolve crumbled.
The three groaned and Yui cheered.
"Let's just get this over with."
Unfortunately for them, Master Driller had a habit of posting pictures with his interns in the front lobby, so now, for all the world to see whenever they came in, was Master Driller and Yui in dramatic poses, and the three of them in their own poses.
At least they were actually tasteful and not too extravagant.
Rule was on her knee with her arms splayed out to her sides in a 'V' shape. Niner and Bel were next to her with one of their pistols pointed to the side at an angle, the two of them basically forming opposing 'K's. His was the most conservative, with him standing directly behind Rule with his pistols in a crossed arm position.
Master Driller, obviously the largest of the group, also had the most dramatic pose behind them.
All in all it wasn't…too bad.
Later on, after saying their goodbyes, and dealing with the minor panic attack that was Hosu (they'd find out about Eri later) the four of them had grown closer as a group, which had quickly been tightly knit by the week they spend together, not as just colleagues and fellow students, but as comrades and friends.
On their way back to UA, the group sat in some silence, with Niner and Bel taking a nap, leaving only 3791 and Rule awake, the two of them not really knowing what to talk about.
"Thanks for joining me on my internship, Fil."
Fil blinked in surprise. Before they'd left, he'd given Yui the opportunity to name him, but she as usual had been silent for the most part. It had quickly become a tradition in the Vod'e to have the teacher or student they were closest to name them, if they hadn't found one themselves.
"Fil?"
"Mmm."
"But why?"
Staying silent for a moment, she took off her hat and looked at him.
"I know that this will sound extremely cheesy, but… Ever since I've met you, Niner and Bel, my life's been filled with more happiness than I can remember in recent years, so… 'Fil', with only one L." She said, before looking down at her own hands with a blush on her face due to how cheesy her reasoning had been.
Fil looked at her and nodded.
"I like it." He said as he gently ruffled her hair, earning him a small smile.
Fil smiled back at her and then stepped back and gave her a quick salute.
"You know, as far as we're concerned, Rule. You're one of us."
Yui's smile this time was blinding, as instead of her usual one where her lips just moved slightly, this one was an absolutely genuine one with the cerulean-eyed girl bearing an expression similar to Izuku when he smiled.
He wouldn't know just how much he would treasure that smile when looking back on it in the near future.
