A Holiday by Decree

~~ Day 9 ~~

"Shit -" Sansa said under her breath. Mock-petulantly she tossed her half-eaten breakfast fritter down on her plate, as she realized she had given up the game to him.

"The lady doth curses?" Tyrion japed, as he played out his winning move.

"Shut up," Sansa said before falling back in her chair with a smirk and a sip of her coffee.

Tyrion matched her with a roguish look, "Do you deny that you'll be asking for a rematch by lunch?" he taunted.

Sansa sent a barb back: "Never - I vow I will sneak up on you one day, Tyrion Lannister, and you'll never expect it."

Oh, how you apparently have no idea how you already have, Tyrion thought to himself, as he tried to cool down with a sip of water. It thrilled him how Sansa had actually begun to engage in "shit-talking" with him over their cyvasse games. She never ceased to surprise him.

They had already finished most of their breakfast and taken to just light sips and nibbles, while they finished an early morning round of cyvasse. After they cleaned up the board and pieces, they headed down to the pool. Both of them had come dressed in the same attire they had swam in the day before.

Sansa seemed eager for the lesson and soon was in the water. He watched, as she automatically plunged her head under the water to wet her hair. Having felt a bit nervous that he might not be a good teacher, he was proud to see she was losing her fear of being submerged so quickly; however, he also knew he could not take credit for Sansa's innate bravery and youthful perseverance. Regardless, he decided that he had made the right choice in bringing what he had in his pocket.

Taking the items from his pocket in a closed fist, he dove in smoothly to join Sansa in the water.

"Beautiful dive, my lord," Sansa smiled playfully when he came back up. Though she had complimented his diving skills before, Tyrion felt himself growing to cherish her attention, and he flushed like a boy. He hoped the heat of the sun and his beard helped hide it a bit, as he smoothed his wet curls back and cleared his throat.

"Thank you, my lady," he said back, equally playful, before carrying on. "Today's first lesson requires me to do a demonstration."

He opened his fist, and Sansa looked on in curiosity. "Something from your travels?" she smiled, as the two heavy copper coins gleamed under the bright tropical sun.

"They're old Meereenese coins, of the kind that were in place before Daenerys took the city," he answered.

Sansa delicately picked up one of the coins from his palm, inspecting it with interest. "But why bring them in the pool?" she asked, though his excitement to say more was probably already obvious to her.

"We'll use them to play a game," Tyrion smirked.
