Out of this realm, far from the reach of the mortals, there was Truth and Illusion.

Truth was a mature-looking man who had the pleasure of creating obstacles to the poor mortals, and he enjoyed see them fail in every instance.

Illusion was a young and energetic girl who always liked to see the adventurers overcome the improbable, but she never gets the desired results.

There are others like them, but these two were always the most significant deities that could influence the mortals. They did it for eons, but once things seemed dull for their adventures, those two arrived to spice things up.

One who had the control to create and teach, the other, the jealousy to destroy and choose. Those two uninvited brothers decided to crash the gods' little game. They presented themselves as Day and Night.

Day, a more refined, calm man, was the first to speak on behalf of the two. Night, however, was none of the wiser as he talked with such rudeness and brash attitude that made Illusion wary of him.

While initially, none of the gods seemed happy to have strangers appear out of the blue, but both brothers didn't come with empty hands.

Truth seemed the most curious out of everyone to see what they brought: Day and Night invented a new game, or better said, an expansion for their existing game.

They called it Remnant.

They explained the details of their world across the ocean and a new set of people and creatures, especially Night's creations. He called them Grimm, and unlike the other types of dangerous creatures from the Frontier, there was a wide variety of Grimm in this new continent. They were accessible to integrate them into any scenario the gods could ever imagine.

Truth was compelled at first, but Illusion objected to the idea to add more of what seemed already like a satisfactory experience. She didn't trust Night's sharp words regarding the Grimm. But Day intervened and elaborated further regarding the people from Remnant.

He said with a more confident and sensible explanation about how mortals have a bigger chance of standing up against Grimm and being more capable of surviving. So one could say it was easy to get more positive outcomes than what she usually does. Illusion's opinions shifted for a bit when she asked more.

The brothers smiled.

They explained further and even gave pieces to the gods so they could add to their current adventure. Truth started to think about more possibilities than he could ever hope so. When he asked the brothers if they would like to formally join the party, they, surprisingly, refused the invitation.

It was confusing and even outrageous that those brothers would present themselves, offer a new idea to play, and then not partaking some of the fun.

Day explained: He and his brother tried once to play by themselves, but the experiment brought various disagreements. Finally, it didn't take them long enough until they gave up. We didn't like it. Knowing that would be a waste, they decided to share it with others that seemed more competent than themselves. Letting others experiment with the ideas they created seemed more reasonable than continue restarting it without progress.

Truth and Illusion finally understood the dilemma. They wholeheartedly accepted the brother's game and use it for their own adventure. If the gods didn't like it, they could always give it back to the brothers anytime.

Day gave special instructions to Illusion while Night shared extra information to Truth.

Once they had everything in the set, the gods decided to start the next adventure while the brothers continued their way.

There was no telling when those two would come back, but rest assured, they will wait.
