Hearts and minds
"We aren't friends, I am only going to say this once. So at the end of the day when we are done we will go our own ways. Don't get attached, because I will never get attached to you or anyone else." Sasuke stated.
"Will you go with me?" Hinata asked softly.
"I will because I want to, I want to smell the air again outside and hear something new besides the chatter of the guards. Maybe on some small insignificant way I might want to see again sooner than later." Sasuke admitted.
Hinata reached over and touched his face softly as if she feared his face would shattered at a touch too strong. Sasuke flinched and tried to move away but couldn't. Hinata then ran her fingers down to his throat. They paused for a moment while her breathing increased.
"What are you doing?" Sasuke demanded finally.
"I didn't think you would stay still If I told you I wanted to examine you, I really thought you hated to be touched by everyone and it is important that I do it atleast once." Hinata said softly
"Don't tell me your one of my fans?" Sasuke asked in low voice
"No, I have only eyes for Naruto." Hinata replied firmly
Hinata felt her face flush, her heart race, and her body sweat. And as she looked Sasuke over it hit her over the head. He couldn't see her, he couldn't judge how weak she might look , or see how embarrassed she felt. It gave her such a calming wave of feeling she didn't know how to describe it. They just existed without judgement physically she found her mind wander.
"Well, if I go with you will you paw me with your hands." Sasuke said sarcastically.
"I wanted to be sure you weren't sick, before we left I wanted to make sure if you were we would get a doctor to check you." Hinata admitted
Hinata stared at the helmet with not facial markings. Somehow it was harder to feel embarrassed when she stared a blank helmet.
"Are you done with your examination? Or will you be doing one daily just to touch me like those other girls would if they could?" Sasuke asked dead serious
"Just today and maybe if you get sick which I hope you don't. Do you want me to take you to a doctor to check if your healthy before we leave?" Hinata asked.
"No lets just move on, unchain me Heiress." Sasuke stated.
Hinata paused for a moment. She didn't think about what he would call her. But the idea of being called Heiress was something she didn't want. She began to remove the chains one by one all while thinking of what she wanted him to call her. When Sasuke was free of the chains excluding the ones holding his helmet in place over his eyes he fell to his knees. Hinata ran over to him but hearing her steps he raised his right hand to signal she stop. He reached his feet after 2-3 minutes of rest.
"Well lets begin, do you have something for me to use to walk since I can't see?" Sasuke asked.
"Hold on to me?" Hinata asked without thinking.
"No" Sasuke replied equally as fast.
Hinata wasn't taken back by his response she expected it but in a way she weary of it. She knew it was the best choice either that or to hook a chain to herself and have him walk with it pulling it as he walked behind her.
"Sasuke do you want to walk with a chain attached to me so you can walk on your on?" Hinata asked
"No I don't I just need a walking stick and then I will follow your voice." Sasuke replied
"When we are outside of Konoha what will you call me?" Hinata asked softly
"Heiress or Hinata your choice." Sasuke replied
"Can we travel in anonymity, outlanders traveling together for safety and privacy?" Hinata asked
"What are you getting at?" Sasuke asked curiously
"If you call me heiress you will draw eyes to us, if you walk with a chain you will draw eyes to us, and we stand out bandits might seek us out." Hinata responded
"You don't think you can fight them off with me around." Sasuke asked a bit irritated
Hinata felt flustered she felt her ears burn. Even if his eyes weren't there to stare at her or just look at her she felt his judgement. He reminded her of Hiashi and neji in the moment. And she knew the best way to deal with them was to not beat around the bush.
"We can travel faster if we don't stick out in a crowd. You can Hold onto my arm as we travel, use a walking stick to lean on but hold on to me. Then we can travel in safety, I only have eyes for Naruto you can believe my word as a heiress to the Hyuga clan." Hinata said a blaze of words.
"Give me your word you will never want anything more from me, when I want to be left alone you will grant me time, and you touch me more than necessary." Sasuke stated his demands.
"I promise on the love I have for Naruto and my clan. To keep anyone from looking at your helmet , I will wrap bandages around that helmet of yours and place a straw hat over it. It might feel uncomfortable at times but" Hinata replied
"What do you want me to call you if not heiress? And what will you call me to avoiding drawing attention?" Sasuke asked.
"For myself I know of a clan member whose name I like, its Natsu. Please call me that." Hinata replied.
"Call me Inabi, I don't like the name particularly but he was a clan member of mine and that is good enough for me." Sasuke answered.
Sasuke extended his arm out and Hinata walked over slowly. She felt incredibly nervous as she approached. As if approaching a wild animal she didn't know what to expect. When her hand softly pressed his extended arm and he didn't recoil she inched closer. Then she moved herself into position after a minute always watching him closely. Sasuke's body relaxed but he will still tense.
She linked his arms and they moved together. When they crossed stairs she warned him and they both moved slowly to not trip. As she did this she felt the guards eyes on her. Most had looks of utter surprise as if seeing a three headed creature walking in broad daylight. Before they reached the end of the prison Tsunade appeared. She was warned of Sasuke sudden release and made her way there to see it. Her eyes were widened with surprise to see Sasuke arm and arm with Hinata walking. Tsunade had a walking stick adjusted for Sasuke's height in her right hand.
Tsunade pressed it down into the dirt as she watched Sasuke and Hinata walking. She somehow expected him to burst into flames with so much contact. They paused before Tsunade and Hinata greeted her. Sasuke sniffed the air at the scent of a perfume. It was a kind older women used. When Hinata called out Tsunade name it made sense. Sasuke was accustomed to walking with Hinata after 30 minutes of moving up stairs and across hallways. It didn't occur to him what it looked like to the others. Hinata had a light touch, almost like the neutral force of water just enough force to know it was there.
"So you agreed to it then Sasuke Uchiha." Tsunade asked
"It will be just us two for this mission?" Sasuke asked
"Yes, I hope Hinata filled you in on the details of the mission and the pardon at the end of it if you succeed." Tsunade stated
"Yes" Sasuke replied
"Take this for your travels and some money" Tsunade said
Hinata extended her hand and Tsunade placed the Walking stick in it.
"This is a walking stick, it was made for your height." Hinata whispered to Sasuke
Sasuke stood up straight and release Hinata's arm. He land on the walking stick feeling the support. Tsunade gave a nod and took her leave a smile was on her face. She then told Sasuke to stay still as she wrapped his head in bandages. When she was done she placed the straw hat on his head over his helmet. She then signaled she was done and was ready to link arms again. As they linked arms Sasuke adjusted his position and leaned into her. Sasuke feet did not adjust to the walking stick properly and he took a step forward into nothingness losing his balance. Hinata and him fell to the floor.
He rolled over to his stomach and lifted his left arm first. His right arm landed on Hinata and he didn't want to hurt her as he lifted himself up. Bending his knees to stand he pushed off the ground but wobbled. He pressed down as softly as he could on his left as he needed to break his fall. His left hand pressed down on something incredibly soft. It was firm yet soft, he squeezed it and heard muffled whine. He released and pushed back so he landed on his butt. He didn't want to embarrass Hinata on him grabbing her stomach which had been soft and firm so he said nothing. Hinata fainted on the spot, Sasuke had accidentally groped her left breast. She knew it was an accident as he couldn't see.
"Heiress" Sasuke called out
When she didn't speak he called her again Heiress. Then he called out for Natsu in case she was holding out until he called her new name. Sasuke reached out but felt nothing then moved both hands downward. Hinata watched with a beet red face as Sasuke searched for her. Just before he reached her chest again she caught his hand. Sasuke stopped moving.
"There you are." Sasuke voice was neutral
"Let me help you to your feet and then figure out the best position for us as we walk together." Hinata said with a low squeaky voice.
