Arcane Atelier, Lunch Hall
"Severa!"
Severa blinked, snapping out of her thoughts as Emma's urgent voice reached her ears. She glanced up from her food, noticing the concern etched on Emma's face. Severa knew she had been spacing out, but she couldn't help it. That damn 'El Rey Diablo' had been taking up every bit of her mind to the point where she even nicked herself with a needle in class today.
But she really couldn't help it. She didn't even know the dude's name, so she couldn't go running around asking for 'El Rey Diablo' or people might get the wrong idea.
Emma's eyes bore into hers, searching for answers. "Are you okay? You've been acting strange lately."
Severa forced a smile, hoping to alleviate Emma's concerns. "Yeah, just tired, I guess. Haven't been sleeping well."
Emma didn't look convinced, but she let it go for now, instead focusing on talking to Jasmine. Severa couldn't shake the feeling of guilt gnawing at her conscience. She hated keeping secrets from Emma, but she couldn't risk dragging her friend into whatever mess she had stumbled into.
As she finished her meal in silence, Severa made a silent vow to herself. She would never let Emma nor Jasmine find out, no matter what. But before she could dwell further on her thoughts, she felt an arm snake around her waist, pulling her out of her seat and into someone's lap. She turned to look behind her and wasn't surprised to find Ezra's smirking face.
"What do you want, Ezra?" she asked, her tone tinged with a hint of annoyance as he nestled against her back, resting his head on her shoulder.
"You know what I want, Severa," he whispered, his breath hot against her ear.
Severa stiffened, feeling a surge of irritation mixed with unease. Ezra had always been persistent, but lately, his advances had become more aggressive, more unwelcome. She had tried to brush him off countless times, but he didn't seem to get the message.
"I've told you before, Ezra, I'm not interested," she said, trying to keep her voice steady despite the rising tension in her chest.
He chuckled softly, his grip tightening around her waist. "Come on, babe, don't play hard to get. You know you want me." She felt her stomach flip, what else must she say to this boy before he got the hint she was not in the mood for his shit?
Taking a deep breath, she gently extricated herself from his grasp. "Sorry, Ezra, but I've got to go. Maybe another time."
She didn't wait for his response as she quickly made her escape. Outside, she dashed into the courtyard and collapsed under a tree, trying to catch her breath. Suddenly, she felt a hand brush her hair out of her face.
"I just wanted to talk. You didn't have to run," came Ezra's voice, his smirk evident even without looking at him.
Severa's heart raced as she turned to face him, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. "Talk? About what, Ezra?" she retorted, her voice tinged with irritation.
Ezra's smirk softened into a more sincere expression, though there was still a glint of mischief in his eyes. "Look, Severa, I just wanna spend time with a lovely lady like yourself~" Severa couldn't help but roll her eyes at Ezra's attempt to charm her. His words might have sounded innocent enough, but she knew better than to trust that mischievous glint in his eyes.
"I'm in no mood to deal with you and your games, Ezra," she replied, her tone firm as she flicked an errant strand of hair out of her face.
As she turned to look around her, Severa couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. The courtyard was eerily quiet, the only sound the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze. But she couldn't shake the feeling of unease that settled over her like a shroud.
"Severa," Ezra's voice broke through her thoughts, drawing her attention back to him. "I promise, no games. Just two very hot people hanging out."
Severa eyed him warily, her instincts telling her to keep her guard up. But there was a sincerity in his gaze that gave her pause, a genuine desire to connect that she couldn't ignore.
With a sigh, she relented, if only slightly. "Fine, but no funny business, Ezra. I mean it."
Ezra flashed her a grin, his mischief momentarily replaced by genuine warmth. "Scout's honor." He reached into his bag and pulled out a camera. Severa's eyebrows furrowed in confusion as she watched him, unsure of what to make of his sudden change in demeanor.
"I'm gonna need some help with a class project, and who better to help me than the prettiest girl in school?" he exclaimed, his enthusiasm infectious as he held up the camera for her to see.
Severa couldn't help but laugh at his boldness, though she still couldn't shake the feeling of skepticism gnawing at her. "Flattery will get you nowhere, Ezra," she teased, though there was a hint of amusement in her tone.
Ezra shrugged, his grin widening. "It was worth a shot," he replied, undeterred. "So, what do you say? Will you be my model for the day?"
Severa considered his offer for a moment, weighing the risks against the potential rewards. Despite her reservations, there was a part of her that couldn't deny the thrill of the idea that Ezra's proposition offered.
With a smirk of her own, she nodded. "Alright, but don't expect me to pose like a supermodel."
Ezra laughed, the sound echoing through the courtyard like a breath of fresh air. "Trust me, Severa, you don't need to. You're already perfect just the way you are."
Severa felt her cheeks flush at his words, a warmth spreading through her chest that had nothing to do with the afternoon sun. She shook her head, now was not the time to be getting flushed by his dumb words.
She glanced back at him, ignoring the way the sun made his eyes shine at the right angle. "So, how is this gonna work?" she asked, focusing on the task at hand.
Ezra grinned, his enthusiasm contagious. "Well, first, you're just gonna sit there and look pretty Then, I'll work my magic behind the camera."
Severa raised an eyebrow, skepticism creeping back into her expression. "And what exactly is this project for?" she asked, unable to shake the feeling that Ezra was up to something more than just innocent photography.
Ezra's grin widened, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Ah, that's a secret for now. You'll just have to trust me."
Severa sighed, knowing she was getting herself into something she might regret. But there was a thrill in the unknown, a sense of adventure that she couldn't resist.
"Alright," she said, flashing him a smirk of her own. "But if this turns out to be some elaborate prank, I'm holding you responsible." She sat there and watched as he messed with the camera a bit more before suddenly raising the camera and snapped a picture of her.
"What—" Severa's protest was cut short as the camera shutter clicked, freezing her in a moment of surprise.
Ezra grinned mischievously as he lowered the camera. "Just testing the lighting," he said, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
Severa narrowed her eyes at him, though she couldn't suppress the smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Sure, asshat. Just make sure I don't end up looking like a total goofball in your 'test shots.'"
He chuckled, his laughter ringing through the courtyard. "Don't worry, Severa. With a model as beautiful as you, even the goofiest shots would still be masterpieces."
Severa rolled her eyes, though she couldn't deny the warmth that spread through her chest at his words. Maybe spending time with Ezra wasn't such a bad idea after all. He gave her one of his little smirks. "Pose?"
She rolled her eyes again, but this time with a smile, and gave him a pose, pretending to strike a dramatic model pose.
Ezra chuckled and snapped a few shots, his enthusiasm evident as he adjusted the camera settings. "Perfect! You're a natural, Severa."
Severa couldn't help but laugh at his antics, feeling a sense of lightness wash over her. For the first time in what felt like ages, she was able to let go of the weight of her worries and just enjoy the moment.
She continued to pose, transitioning from dramatic stances to subtle gestures
She continued to pose, transitioning from dramatic stances to subtle gestures, and he kept taking picture after picture. After what seemed like an endless stream of photos, he finally wrapped his arms around her waist, drawing her close, and snapped a picture of the two of them together.
As soon as the flash ended, Severa took a step back, feeling a sudden urge to put some distance between them. "So, that's a wrap?" she asked, trying to sound casual despite the lingering warmth of his touch.
Ezra sent her a smirk and nodded as he packed his camera up. "Yep, that's a wrap. Thanks for being the best model, Sevvy."
Severa managed a small smile, though she couldn't shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at her insides. "No problem," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
As she turned to leave, Ezra surprised her by leaning in and planting a kiss on her cheek. The unexpected gesture sent a jolt of confusion through Severa's mind, leaving her momentarily frozen in place.
Before she could react, Ezra flashed her a wink and sauntered away, leaving Severa standing there, her mind racing with a whirlwind of conflicting emotions.
The unexpected display of affection flustered part of her, while another part couldn't help but feel a sense of apprehension at the implications of Ezra's actions. And what was up with all the boys she met?
Arcane Atelier, Severa's Dorm
Severa was curled up in a comfortable chair, engrossed in her book, when she was suddenly drawn from its pages by the distinct sound of tapping against her window. Frowning in confusion, she looked up and saw a snowy white owl perched outside, tapping its beak against the glass, a letter securely attached to its claw.
Curiosity piqued, Severa rose from her chair and approached the window. She unlatched the window and slowly swung it open. The owl hooted softly before gracefully gliding through the open window, landing on the nearby table.
Severa watched in awe as the majestic bird deposited the letter on the table before turning to regard her with intelligent eyes. She reached out tentatively, her fingers brushing against the owl's soft feathers before it flew over to the plate of chips as she opened the letter.
'Dear Severa,
I hope you have been enjoying your summer as I have not. if you remember, you promised to write me over the summer and I have yet to receive any type of letter from you. I want you to know that I have missed you greatly and it has upset me to not get any news from you. But I shall tell you what I've been up to in hopes you write back.
My father took me and my mother to Paris, France for 2 weeks and it was amazing, I saw a few things that reminded me of your beautiful face. Musée du Louvre was the first place that made me wish you were here with me, the art was beyond amazing.
'Ophelia' by John Everett Millais was just breathtaking. We also visited the Palace of Versailles and Severa, the moment I stepped foot inside I knew one day I would give you a life of luxury as that palace, only if you let me. I did much more on the trip but my mind was stuck on you, I hope and pray you missed me as well. Only 3 weeks until I see you on the train and I hope you love the gift I've gotten for you.
With every heartbeat, Yours.'
Severa froze in place, her brow furrowing in annoyance as she scanned the contents of the letter. Though it bore no name, she knew all too well who had penned it, and the realization filled her with irritation more than anything else.
"How the hell did he even know where to send the damn letter?" she muttered to herself, frustration simmering beneath the surface. The audacity of him to track her down like this, invading her privacy without a second thought, grated on her nerves like sandpaper.
With an exasperated sigh, Severa sank back into the chair, the letter crumpling slightly in her grasp as she released her pent-up tension. She couldn't believe he had the nerve to disrupt her peace of mind like this.
She started to write a letter back to him when she heard a knock on her door. She rolled her eyes and walked to open the door only to find nobody there. Severa's annoyance deepened as she glanced at the envelope and flower at her feet. With a resigned sigh, she stooped to pick them up, her mind already bracing for another intrusion into her privacy.
Back inside, she tore open the envelope, her irritation mounting as she found a bunch of pictures of herself from earlier. Each image captured a moment from her impromptu photoshoot with Ezra, and despite her frustration, she couldn't help but feel a pang of warmth at the sight of the memories they had shared.
As she gazed at the photo of her and Ezra, a sudden spark of inspiration ignited within her. Pushing the previous letter aside, she snatched up a fresh sheet of paper and began to craft a new message.
"Dear Potters..."
