Enjoy.
"Uncle Qrow!" Ruby and Yang screamed, before rushing to hugging their favoriteuncle
"Did you mis me?" Ruby hugged her uncles arm while Yang backed off. Qrow stared at his niece before smiling.
"Nope."
Ruby slide off his arm while Qrow turn to spot both Glynda and Raven staring at him.
"Qrow, what are you doing here?" The headmistress asked. The Huntsman shrugged. "I was in the neighborhood when Oz wanted me in for an assignment. Something about finding a boy who got lost.
Glynda growled. "So Ozpin called you and didn't thinks to tell me?"
Qrow nodded. "Kinda weirded out by that detail. But whatever, I'll find him.
"Is his name Jaune Arc?" Raven asked. Her brother glared at her.
"Yeah. What is it to you?" Qrow countered. Raven simply pointed to the screen and glanced at Glynda to continue.
"You're going to have to sit down for this, Qrow."
After a bit, Qrow understood the situation and decided to sit down with the group. While he wasn't happy about the transcripts, he was surprised that Arc not only survived initiation but also was a leader that rivaled Ruby and even Summer. While he got his food to snack on, he text Ozpin that he need a day before he showed up.
And with that, Ruby resumed the movie.
The scene changed to the Union side as General Buford rode into the scene. Union soldiers tended to the horses and artillery pieces while an officer waited for Buford to dismount and saluted the battle weary warrior.
Union Officer: "Good evening, John. I'm surprised you could find headquarters with all that confusion."
Buford: "There's an old Indian saying: "Follow the cigar smoke and find a fat man there."
The men, chuckled as they entered the house where a man who was smoking a cigar turned around to greet them. He was General Winfield Scott Hancock, Commander of the II Corps.
"UNCLE QROW?" Yang and Ruby screeched in delight.
Qrow puffed out his chest. "Damn straight. Now don't you worry your heads, you tow. If I am in charge, Arc will survive."
Raven rolled her eyes. "Unless your semblance comes to play, as usual."
Qrow took another drink from his flask. "If he is any good as Summer, then semblance be damn."
Buford: "General Hancock."
Hancock: "How are you, John?"
Buford: "I'm all right. But the brigades are pretty shot up. I need to get refitted."
Hancock: "Right. I'll see to it. We know what you did this morning. That was one hell of a piece of soldiering."
Buford: "Thank you, sir."
Qrow nodded. "Calvary holding back Infantry like what Buford did, Bloody, and brutal, but simply brilliant on his part."
Indeed." Glynda nodded. "He chose the ground and made the Confederates pay for every inch. Always remember children, You don't have to out-right win against your opponent. Break the spirit, and they will no longer wish to go on."
RWBY, and NR simply nodded
Hancock: "Heard you were with John Reynolds when he was killed. I'm sending the body up to his folks in Lancaster. They might appreciate a note from you."
Buford: "I'll send it."
Hancock: "He was a soldier. And a good friend. Three of us, Reynolds, Lo Armistead and I came up together. Mexican War. California. We stayed close. I wonder how old Lo is doing. If he's still alive."
Buford: "Heard he had one of Pickett's brigades. Under Longstreet."
Hancock: "Remarkable. Just across the ridge. I'd like to see him again, but not here. Not like this. Well, maybe after the war."
"He's holding out hope to see him alive after the war?" Weiss questioned. "Never have I seen a more beautiful friendship."
"Hey what about us?" Ruby gasped.
Weiss stared at her 'Bestie'. "We are more like a handler and a hyper puppy."
Blake and Yang laughed as Ruby stared shocked at her teammate.
Buford: "Where do you want me in the morning?"
Hancock: "I want you to hold your position on the extreme left. Get some rest if you can. We may need you in the morning. Jeb Stuart's still on the prowl out there someplace."
Buford: "Yes, sir."
General Buford saluted Hancock before turning to leave. As he slowly walked out of the house, he walked up to the fence and stared off into the night.
Buford: "Well, General Reynolds...we held the high ground."
And with that said he laid his head down on his hands, slowly remembering his friend who died earlier.
Blake smiled. "Dad would have loved to have a friend like you, Mr Buford"
The scene changed to the confederate headquarters as Lee stood with his aides overlooking a parchment of paper.
Aid: "General Trimble is waiting. Will you see him now?"
Lee: Very well. Major, I want a scouting party sent out posthaste to find General Stuart.
Major: "Yes, sir. Right away, sir."
Lee: "Thank you."
"Yes. Weiss said suspiciously. "Where IS Mr. Stuart?"
"Maybe he got tangled in an engagement of his own?" Ruby replied.
"If he did, then he should have sent a courier to Lee's position." Ren countered. "Neither of our reason will cover the main fact that General Stuart has technically abandoned the South to the fate of the battle."
As the two men leave, Lee puts on his spectacles to read the parchment himself. General Trimble entered the house. taking off his cap and saluted, Lee removed his spectacles and returned the salute.
Lee: "General Trimble."
Trimble: "Sir, I most respectfully request another assignment."
Lee stared at the man for a few seconds before turning to sit down.
Lee: "Do please go on, General."
Trimble: "The man is a disgrace. Sir, have you been listening at all to what the aides have been telling you? Ask General Gordon or General Ewell. Ask them. We could've taken that hill."
The eyebrows of everyone went up.
"So they did not take the hill Lee wanted them to." Weiss said. "Typical. After even the first day, the South has shown to have commanders who cannot even understand the most simplest of commands."
Raven smirked. "Now that they didn't, it looks like Arc will have on less thing to worry about."
"Yeah!" Nora cheered loudly. "Nothing shall stop Fearless Leader now!"
Trimble: "God in his wisdom knows we should've taken it. There was no one there at all and it commanded the town. General Gordon saw it. I mean, he was with us. Me and Ewell and Gordon...all standing in the dark like idiots with that bloody damned hill empty. I beg your pardon, General."
Lee acknowledged the General with a simple nod, before Trimble continued.
Trimble: "That bloody damned hill was bare as his bloody damned head! We all saw it, as God is my witness. We were all there. I said to him, "General Ewell, we have got to take that hill." General Jackson wouldn't have stopped with them on the run... and plenty of light on a hill like that empty. God help us! I don't know... I don't know why..."
Lee: "Do please continue, General."
Trimble: "Yes, sir. Sir. I said to General Ewell these words... I said to him: "Sir, give me one division and I will take that hill." He said nothing. He just stood there and stared at me. I said, "General Ewell, give me one brigade... "and I will take that hill." I was becoming disturbed, sir. And General Ewell put his arms behind him and blinked. So I said, "General, give me one regiment... "and I will take that hill." And he said nothing."
"Talk about a case of hesitation." Yang said. "Aren't military commanders well versed in strategic maneuvers?"
"They must have knowledge of them." Weiss agreed. "But at this point, I am tired of trying to understand the incompetency of the Confederacy."
Trimble: "He just stood there. I threw down my sword. Down on the ground in front of him. We could have done it, sir. A blind man should have seen it. Now they're working up there. You can hear the axes of the federal troops. And so in the morning... many a good boy will die... taking that hill. Sir. I must request another assignment.
Lee looked at the man with sympathy before getting up.
Lee: "No, sir. That won't be necessary. You will be of great service. And I do thank you."
Trimble salutes Lee who returns the gesture, before silently and with sadness, walks out the front door. As the door closes, Lee pulls out a small watch and looks at it before sighing. He had now lost an advantage due to one man.
"I feel sorry for him." Ruby said sadly.
"Me too sis." Yang nodded. "Guy knew what to do and because of his superior, now they just made the battle harder for themselves."
The Scene changes back to the Union headquarters where a group of union men ride and dismount, one of them carries the American flag. as the man leading them walks up the the house with purpose, he throws open the door to a room full of officers. He is General George Gordon Meade, Commander of the Army of the Potomac.
Hancock: "General Meade, sir."
Meade: "Hancock. It's so damn dark out there I can't see a thing."
Meade looked around as he walks slowly around the room surveying his commanders
Meade: "Well Gentlemen. I hope to God that this is...good ground. Is this good ground, General? Is this a place to have an army?"
Hancock: "Very good ground, sir."
Meade: "I hope you are right. Because we are going to have a fight here sure enough in the morning."
"Hey, If Uncle Qrow says it's good ground, then it's good ground." Ruby defended her uncle.
"Thanks squirt." Qrow smiled.
"We won't know more until we see tomorrow's battle if this Qrow is better than ours." Glynda smirked.
"HEY"
Aid: "Will there be anything else, sir?"
Lee: "No, thank you, Major."
Aid: "Very well."
As his aid takes his saber off the rack, Lee sits down to rest. His aid, upon seeing this, picked up a wool blanket and covers Lee up. Lee patted him on the shoulder in gratitude before the aid walks out.
"The South may not have good commanders, but they do have some serious gentlemanship." Yang said.
"Is that a word?" Blake leaned to Weiss.
"If it is, then Yang just butchered it, somehow." Weiss snickered.
Lee's thoughts: "In the morning is the great battle. Tomorrow or the next day will determine the war. Virginia is here. All the South is here. What will you do tomorrow? In the morning... the enemy will be up in fortified positions on high ground. Longstreet's corps will be coming up... and my boys will be ready to finish the job. If I tell them to withdraw now? No, sir. They've been patient for far too long. With the enemy out there up on the hill... they'll be ready to finish the job. But I don't even know how much is up there. How many men? How many cannon? I don't know the ground on the flanks. I don't know. If I wait in the morning, the early morning...maybe Meade, under pressure, will attack. That would make General Longstreet very happy. But I don't think Meade will come down. And I don't think I can withdraw, so...God's will, thy will be done."
As he finishes, Lee closes his eyes and slowly drifts off to sleep.
The room lit up as Ruby turned on the lights. It was night outside. well past 10.
"Okay everyone." Glynda popped her neck. "We will watch the rest later. Off to bed."
With a groan, the room dispersed. Ruby, and Weiss went to brush their teeth while Yang and Blake stayed to change into their pajamas. Nora and Ren went back to their room where they were grilled by Pyrrha on what they were doing.
As they left, Glynda, Raven, and Qrow walked down the hallway.
"I'll be honest, Mr. Arc deliberately forged his transcripts to get here." Glynda found herself in the hot seat. "Had I let him stay, he would have definitely been killed."
"Did he survive initiation?" Raven asked. When Glynda nodded, the swordswoman shrugged her shoulders. "Then he could have survived what Beacon would have thrown him to."
"Seriously, G" Qrow pitched in. "The boy made friends here who'd go to hell and back for him. And now we are watching him go toe to toe with an army who's tactics would and can still rip apart the Atlesian Army in on small engagement. I am telling you. If he somehow finds his way back, you have got to keep him here."
Glynda sighed. "It's not going to be easy. I sent the report up to the Council. As of now, Jaune Arc will never be allowed into any Huntsman academy ever. I regret it now, but I can't change it."
Raven opened her mouth to speak when a voice was heard.
"Maybe not now, but what if I could stop it from happening."
The three whirled around to see a man behind them, in what appeared to be an Army uniform. The camouflage design however looked terrible.
"Who are you?" Glynda whipped out her crop, while Raven gripped her sword and Qrow twirled his scythe dangerously. The man bowed.
"My name is Rinter. I am the one who sent out the movie to RWBY." He said politely. Upon seeing the three slightly lower their stances, he continued.
"What if I can tell you that I can undo the damage sought upon Jaune."
Glynda took a step forward. "You can turn back time?"
Rinter smiled. "I can do a lot, but every action has a consequence. Whether it's turning back time, deleting the transcripts or even bringing back the boy to your world."
The headmistress gasped while Raven narrowed her eyes. "And what do you want in return?"
Rinter tilted his head. "The consequences are general. I cannot stop them from occurring, no matter how I wish I could. And for me? I really don't want anything. Maybe a chance to travel your world and try out your best dishes, but I have no agenda."
Raven stood there shocked while Qrow simply shrugged, understanding the man. After a while the three came to a unanimous decision before Glynda stepped forward once again.
"What must we do?"
Hey guys.
So I finally finished this chapter and yes I may be getting carried away, but I wanted to give you this before anything else happens. A lot has hit hard these past months. And honestly, I am ret reading my works. Do I want to rewrite them? There are some stuff that I want to better fix, but I am afraid of further confusing you guys. so bear with me for these next few months.
I also accept a lot of you guys request or info on my stories. I love them. Thank you to the Guest reviewer who gave me the info on the Iron brigade. I never knew that.
So send in what you want in the story and I will see what I can do.
And before you ask, I am planning on doing this with other movies (Glory, Titanic, Insidious, Black Hawk Down, etc) but I am not an Anime guy. (I got confused with Narato and DBZ in the first few episodes.) so sorry guys.
Anyway, enjoy and play don't flame. I understand that the story may not go your way, but yelling at me will not change the outcome. I am not the best writer, but if I was, then I'd be writing and not trying to return to the Army (That Calling commercials did not do it good at all. no offense. They need to take a page from the Marines on recruitment. lol)
Enjoy and review. and always send ideas and cookies. Ruby needs the latter or she will lose her happiness.
