I do not own the rights to the movie Gettysburg. It's property of New Line Cinemas.

Enjoy.

As the 20th Maine prepared to march, General Hood rode up to General Longstreet, while the nearby Artillery loaded their cannons, preparing to fight on the second day. Both generals salute before Hood removes his hat and points to the area that he is responsible for.

Hood: "General. Look here, the ground is strewn with boulders. The soldiers up there are entrenched all over the ground. And there are guns in the rocks. Every move I make is observed. If I attack as ordered, I lose half my division. And they'll be looking down our throats at us from that hill right there. We must move around to the right, sir. And take them from the rear."

Longstreet: "Sam. The commanding general will not allow a flanking movement around those hills. I argued it yesterday. I argued it all morning. I've been arguing against any attack at all. I can't call this one off. You know it."

Hood: "Let me move up the big round hill to the south. Nobody is on that. If I could get a battery up there..."

Longstreet: "There ain't enough time. You'd have to cut down trees to place your artillery. It would be dark before you were in action. On the other hand, if they get batteries up there... we'll need buckets to catch the lead. You've got to take that hill."

Hood: "They don't even need guns to defend that. All they need to do is roll rocks down on you."

Longstreet: "Just take it."

Hood: "General. I do this under protest.

Longstreet: "Sam, you are the best I got. Now, sir, if you are ready, why don't you take that hill?"

With anger in his eyes, Hood salutes his friend. As Longstreet returned a salute, Hood shouted loudly from behind his horse, reversing his path in the same direction he came. As the cannons begin to fire, he disappears into the woods.

Ren commented, "The battle is already against the Confederates."

"Why not just do that?" Yang asked in disbelief. "Hood has a much better understanding of the ground than Lee."

Ghira replied, "That is because soldiers will follow orders as if their leaders have a plan in mind. If one steps out of line, the plan collapses."

"It should be obvious from the start whether there is a plan." Qrow murmurs. "And that is assuming that a division will exist when they reach the top."

The cannon balls begin to slam around the 20th Maine Regiment as they fearlessly marched into the woods.

Vincent: "They're overshooting again. Hey, fellows, you notice how that Reb artillery always overshoots?"

Chamberlain: "Tom?"

In response, Thomas runs up to his brother.

Thomas: "Yes, sir."

Chamberlain: "Another one a bit closer and it could be hard day for Mother. Go back to the rear. Watch out for stragglers. Keep your distance from me."

Thomas: "Lawrence, I don't..."

Chamberlain glares at his brother, stopping Thomas from speaking before he reluctantly walked slow back toward the rear of the regiment.

"Sheesh, Vomit boy is not taking chances with Ren." Yang observed.

Weiss huffed, "Of course not Yang. We have seen what one cannon ball can do to multiple individuals. Losing both Ren and his brother would not be in the best interests of their parents."

"Well, at least he will ensure that at least one of them will be safe," Kali replied to the group.

Meanwhile, General Hood reached the battleground near Devils den as the Union tried desperately to hold out. Nearby on a small hill, Major Vincent finally stopped to take a look at the fight.

Vincent: "The whole damn Reb army is down there... and coming up around our flanks. They could be here any minute. We've got to hold this place. We've got to hold it."

Vincent: "Well, all right. I place you here. Put your colors here and set your regiment to the left of this line. The rest of the brigade will form on your right. Understood?"

Chamberlain: "Yes. Ellis, this is the point."

Spear: "Sir.

Vincent: "Now your regiment is to the left of this point. Colonel, sir. You're the end of the line."

Chamberlain: "Yes."

Vincent: "You're the extreme left of the Union army. Understood? The line runs from here back to Cemetery Hill...but it ends here."

Chamberlain: "Understood."

Vincent: "You cannot withdraw under any condition. If you go, this line will be flanked. If you go, the enemy will sweep up over the hillside... and take this entire army from the rear."

"No pressure then." Qrow said as the rest of the group suddenly felt the pressure Jaune now faced.

"The end of the line?" Glynda shivered. "You mean to tell me that whatever comes their way, only three hundred men are to be the blocking force?"

"It appears so." Ghira sighed. "Three hundred against what could be possibly a full-sized division. I believe the only thing that have in an advantage is elevation. and not even that will be too much of an obstacle."

Team RWBYNR felt their hearts sink at the new knowledge.

Vincent: "You must defend this place to the last."

Chamberlain: "Yes, sir."

With that said, Col Vincent and Col Chamberlain saluted one another.

Vincent: "Now we'll see how professors fight.

Nora shouted, raising her fist in the air. "That's right! Fearless Leader will show 'em who is king of the hill.".

A warm smile spread across Glynda's face. It pleased her to know that Jaune had previous teaching experience. In spite of the war he was engaged in, his primary responsibility was protecting and ensuring the safety of those who could not fight.

Chamberlain: "Ellis, position the regiment. All company commanders here."

Spear: "Yes, sir. Sharpshooters to the left! Battalion on the right! Now file into line. March."

The sharpshooters, all dressed in green to match the forest scene ran to their assigned area as Spear turned to the Bugler.

Spear: "Bugler, sound the officer's call."

Chamberlain: "Hold to the last." To the last what? Exercise in rhetoric. Last shell? Last man? Last foot of ground? Last reb?"

Ruby gasped. "SHARPSHOOTERS? OHMYGOSHWEAREGOINGTOSEETHEIRSNIPERSINACTIONS!"

"RUBY!" Weiss smacked the girl's head. "Please keep it in check."

Ruby whimpered and rubbed her head.

Despite feeling a sense of worry for her little sister, Yang asked, "Why is Jaune thinking about the last order he received?".

"Because he is preparing his mind for the position he will assume soon." Weiss explained. Giving such a simple order can complicate the battle in more ways than necessary."

In the meantime, the Union unit holding back Hood's men tried desperately to maintain its foothold. However, they were not prepared to hear a shot ring out and to see their commander's head thrown back by a bullet that embedded itself in his scalp. As the horse circled the ground, the commander fell to the grass below, dead.

"Holy shit!" Yang screamed.

In a tight grasp on her husband's hand, Kali uttered, "Oh my."

Ghira glanced at his daughter who was pale in the face. "Did this happen to me here?" he asked.

Without looking into her father's eyes, Blake nodded slowly. The Panther Faunus slowly moved over to his daughter and hugged her, comforting her as best as he could.

"Your friend will make it. I am confident of that." he stated. Blake smiled weakly as Kali walked up to them and hugged both of them. All but Raven and Qrow smiled at the embrace before returning to the movie.

Hood: "Advance!"

Hood: "Move out!"

As the blue-clad soldiers attempted to grab the Commander's body and his belongings, the Confederates charged the now broken Union line. With the vacated artillery pieces left behind, the Union boys were able to flee. The Confederates began turning them around so that they faced the Union lines.

Confederate Officer: "Turn those guns around!"

Raven remarked, "Now there is no stopping the Confederates from reaching the flank."

"And from Jaune." Thought the girls.

As the Confederates pushed back the soldiers, Chamberlain gazed across the field in front of him before turning to his men.

Chamberlain: "Gentlemen. The 83rd Pennsylvania, 44th New York, and 16th Michigan will be moving into our right. But if you look left, you will see that there is no one there. That's because we're the end of the line. The Union army stops here. We are the flank. Do you understand, gentlemen? We cannot retreat. We cannot withdraw. We are going to have to be stubborn today. So put the boys in position, tell them to stay down. Pile the rocks up high for the best protection you can. I want the reserve pulled back about twenty yards. This is sloping ground. It's good ground. If you have any breakthroughs, men wounded, a hole in the line...you plug it with the reserve."

"The plan is a sound one." Weiss agreed

"Rocks and wood. Do not offer the most reliable protection, but it is what is available at the moment," Ruby replied dejectedly.

Nora trembled in fear of her leader, and asked, "Ms. Goodwitch, is there any other way to maintain the line?".

"He may not be able to hold the line with the number of men at his disposal. Anything else, including line-to-line combat, will only delay the inevitable. Jaune is out of his depth. He cannot succeed unless he gets radical, and even then, it would not be easy." Glynda said quizzically.

Chamberlain: "How's our ammunition?"

Spear: "Sir, I think about sixty rounds per man."

Chamberlain: "That's good. 60 rounds. I think... Yes, that's adequate. Any questions?"

Officer 1: Colonel. It seems to me the fighting is on that side of the hill."

Officer: "It seems to me that we're the back door. And everything's going on at the front door."

In fact, even at this moment, the officers have questioned the intensity of the fight." Raven shook her head. "It is just such egos that cause tragic accidents in war."

Ruby raised an eyebrow at the number of rounds the Union solders will have individually. "Are they all crackshots or something?" she asked.

This is mostly to prevent the enemy from continuing." Ren replied. "My bet is that Jaune will use heavy fire to cause the South to believe that moving up the hill is a terrible idea."

"As more bodies are killed, the more the Confederates will realize the futility of their advance and pull back." Blake continued.

"That sounds like a plan only a Fearless Leader could come up with." Nora grinned.

Chamberlain: "That hill is steep and rocky. It's bare. To come straight up it is impossible. No. The Reb army is going to swing around it. It'll come up through that notch right over there. It'll move under the cover of trees, trying to get around the flank. And gentlemen...we are the flank.

The officers lowered their heads, finally realizing the position they are in.

Chamberlain: "Gentlemen."

Chamberlain stood there for a second before saluting his men who saluted back

Chamberlain: "God go with you."

Ruby smiled. "Jaune will make it.".

"And Ren as well." Nora exclaimed. Yang, Blake and Ren all nodded in agreement. Weiss, however, did not.

"I wish I could believe you, but the numbers are against him. Jaune is not able to prevail in this." She spoke. Yang moved to respond to Schnee when Glynda spoke, and the group quieted.

"I must concur with Ms. Schnee." She spoke. "Jaune is one of the finest tacticians I have ever encountered, but he is up against a force that has outnumbered his forces, has the ability to outmaneuver him and ultimately will outman him. Hopefully, he will survive the onslaught, but as for the fight, I know he will lose. I apologize."

In a sad manner, the girls lowered their heads in acceptance of the teachers' words. Ruby seemed to be ready to accept the same when another spoke.

"He will make it."

Glynda turned her attention to Raven who had her arms crossed. She glared at her friend, who returned a corresponding stare. "This young man has displayed remarkable skills in surviving a war where the greatest asset is luck. He is armed with a sword, and a pistol. Leading men who just the other day were considering mutiny. If this is his time to die, it is his time."

Ruby's attention was immediately drawn to her. "I know that look on his face. I know for a fact that if he must give the assholes his life as well as the lives of his men, then he will give them hell before he gives them his life."

As they stared at the swordswoman, both RWBY and NR slowly smiled. In a sigh of relief, Glynda looked between Kali and Ghira and nodded in agreement. Even though Raven has never spoken to inspire, she knows what she is talking about when she does. Qrow grinned at Raven.

"I think Raven has acquired your ability to motivate, Summer."

Greetings, my friends. I apologize for the delay. I have been busy over the past few months. Although I did not give up on the story, I must admit that I also experienced a bit of writer's block.

Now, it is known that many of you are not fond of Pyrrha, or my OC, or even Team CRDL. However, I have learned from reading previous stories that you must give the few readers who do care something to chew from time to time. Honestly, I have not fully figured out how CRDL and P-Money will be punished. However, that will be determined in the future.

Today is also the anniversary of the Charge that saved the Union. This is certainly a happy occasion for the men of the 20th Maine.

As always, thank you. Please let me know if anyone has any other suggestions besides reviews. Feel free to send them to my private message box. I will always read them. I look forward to hearing from you. Go for broke, boys.
