Team RWBY gathered around to start the movie again. Rinter left to attend to a few matters, so all they had were the book and the souvenirs they had obtained.

Once everyone had settled in, RWBY began the film

Chamberlain directs his forces one last time as the Confederates continue to batter back the broken Union lines.

Chamberlain "Captain Clark, take the right side from the 83rd... over in this direction to the center. Ellis, take the left but be watchful. Your flank will be in the air."

In the midst of the officers' frantic activity, Corporal Estabrook approached Chamberlain and saluted him.

Estabrook "Colonel, sir."

Chamberlain "Corporal Estabrook?"

Estabrook "What do I do with these prisoners? The hardheads of the Second Maine."

"Hopefully they will finally see the error of their ways and help." Ruby said

"Not likely. What difference can six men make?" Weiss countered.

The Colonel walked past Estabrook and toward the 6 men from the 2nd Maine who were seated on a log behind the line. Three of the men looked up with conflicted looks whereas the other three looked as if they had no interest in the upcoming battle.

Chamberlain: "Do any of you care to join us?"

2nd Maine soldier 1: "The Rebs really coming?"

Chamberlain: "They're really coming."

One of the soldiers stood up and nodded toward the Colonel as he said this.

2nd Maine soldier 2 "Well, it's kind of dull just sitting here watching, sir."

Chamberlain "Any man who joins us now, there will be no court martial."

A few tense seconds pass before another man stood up and straighten out his belt.

2nd Maine soldier 3 "No man will call me a coward."

Another few seconds' pass before the soldier who spoke up first stood up and put his cap on.

2nd Maine soldier 1 "Why not?"

While the three men stood up in support, the other three remained sitting.

"Well." Yang sighed. "Three out of six isn't bad."

Qrow smiled. "The threat of a fight can jar even the thickest into fighting."

"Quite right." Glynda nodded. "It's a small relief but a good one nonetheless."

Chamberlain "I'll waste no man to guard you. I expect you to be here when this is over. Sergeant Owen, Let's get these fellows some muskets."

Owen "There are no muskets, sir."

An awkward silence looms over the soldiers as Chamberlain digests the information. Finally, he raises a hand.

Chamberlain "Just wait here for a bit. There will be guns available in a little while."

"Sheesh, talk about being dark over here." Yang shuddered. Chills went down the spine of everyone as they realized how much danger Jaune was now in. Glynda felt her hands become clammy as she watched.

'Jaune was trained from who would have been my son in this world.' she though. Then her eyes narrowed in concentration. 'Time to live up both his expectations, as well as mine, Colonel.'

Kilrain stood before Chamberlain as he moved away from the prisoners toward the front line, watching the area where the Confederates were believed to have arrived. A few seconds later, the sound of musket fire could be heard, which grew louder by the minute.

Kilrain "That's the New York boys. The rebs must be getting closer. Must be moving this way."

As Chamberlain nodded in understanding, Kilrain nudged him toward a lone Union soldier making silent remarks to himself as he clapped his hands.

Kilrain "Sir. Private Foss is praying."

"Really?" Weiss said in disbelief. "The battle is about to hit and you are now just praying?"

"Give him some slack, Ice-Queen." Yang growled. "After what we've seen, A little prayer won't hurt."

Weiss opened her mouth to retort, but a grunt from Miss Goodwitch stopped whatever comment from coming out.

Chamberlain knelt down to Foss and smiled as the bearded man looked up.

Chamberlain "Will you put in a kind word for me?"

Foss "Yes, sir."

Chamberlain stood up and saw another problem. He walked over to a couple of boys who weren't kneeling. When the colonel came to them, Buster kept watch.

Chamberlain "You're the Merrill brothers, right?"

Both brothers "Yes, sir."

Chamberlain "Boys, why aren't you on the ground?"

Brother 1 "Sir, I can't shoot worth a darn lying down. Never could. Bill neither. We like to fight standing."

"Well, if it ain't broke..." Qrow shrugged.

"I know I'm behind the 20th, but there's no need to show off to your peers." Weiss riled her eyes.

"Speak for yourself, Ice Queen." Yang smirked. "Mama loves a fightin man."

Chamberlain "I suggest you find a thicker tree."

Suddenly, Buster pointed to the trees

Kilrain "Here they come!"

Then out of the bottom of the hill came the Confederates. All were in a long thing line formation pushing toward the Union line. Despite the fresh troops of the 20th Maine, the Southern boys looked like they were itching for a fight.

All of a sudden, the mood changed.

There was a whimper from Ruby. "Oh my Ohm, look how many there are!"

Yang comforted her sister as Blake felt the dryness of her mouth. 'I don't think Jaune can handle all of them.' She thought. 'That's too many.'

In contrast to Glynda's clenched fists, Raven was stoic. Even so, she kept thinking about the bloodbath that was going to happen.

Ren comforts Nora, who is shaking, while Weiss rubs her hands as she watches the Confederates push forward.

There was tension in the air. With the enemy at the gate, the regiment they thought of as family was in danger of being destroyed or diminished.

Chamberlain "I want you to stay with me, but you keep down. Buster!"

Kilrain "I bet the whole damn reb army is coming this way."

Chamberlain moved to his position as Thomas and Buster followed him. As he walked, he began giving Buster his orders.

Chamberlain "Walk down the line. Tell the boys to get good cover. Pile the rocks high and fire carefully. Go down and come back."

Kilrain "Right. You got to keep an eye on them. Some of them load but never fire. They just keep right on loading. Some come home with eight bullets rammed up the barrel. Never fired a shot."

Yang growled, "This is not the appropriate time, Buster."

"I disagree with Yang's interpretation of the statement, but I agree that this information could have been provided a long time ago." Weiss responded.

Chamberlain stares at Kilrain for a second as Kilrain salutes him.

Kilrain "Sir."

After saluting the man, Chamberlain turns his gaze to the oncoming Confederates. As they advanced, a Sergeant calls out.

20th Maine Sergeant "Fire! Fire!"

The company sized unit opened up with their rifles, striking the Confederates as they continue up the hill.

As the 20th Maine opened, Qrow said, "And here we go.".

"Kick their butts, Jaune!" Ruby shouted.

Weiss added, "Teach them respect. Arc"

As the Confederates push through the heavy flak, they form a line. Once they have settled into their new positions, they begin to retaliate against their Union counterparts. Both sides fire slugs at each other, and men are injured on both sides. While the Confederates attempt to gain fire superiority, a Confederate officer walks behind them, trying his best to maintain their morale.

Confederate Officer "Keep up your fire, boys! Keep your head down."

The Union line threw as much lead as it could at the Southern unit. The line remained steadfast despite taking casualties. Among them was Colonel Chamberlain, who used his pistol to assist his men in keeping the fire going. The Southern officers attempted to maintain the line, but eventually it faltered, and the Confederates slowly retreated, providing a brief respite for the 20th Maine.

A cheer erupted in the room.

"We pushed them back!" Ruby screamed.

"Yeah, the Fearless Leader is unstoppable." Nora cheered.

"Come back you cowards! Take your ass-whooping like a man!" Yang shook her fists at the retreating Confederates.

Chamberlain "They're falling back."

Kilrain "They'll be back in a minute."

Chamberlain "How are we doing?"

Kilrain "We're doing fine."

"Not bad for a group of three hundred men." Qrow nodded in approval.

Raven snorted. "That was only the first wave."

Captain Clark rushed to Chamberlain at this time.

Clark "Colonel."

Chamberlain "Captain Clark, anybody hurt?"

Clark "Head and shoulder wounds."

Chamberlain "They didn't hit the left. They didn't hit at all."

Suddenly, the Flag-bearer, Andrew pointed to the forest.

Flag-bearer "Wait a minute! They're moving out that way. Can you see them, sir?"

Chamberlain looked and then frantically pulled out his pistol as everyone ran back to their positions again.

Chamberlain "They're coming again, boys! They're coming again!"

"Here we go! Round two." Blake sighed

"Good. Send those rebels the proper way home." Weiss said confidently. Almost the entire group, stared at her.

"Never knew you that way, Weiss." Ruby giggled.

"Quiet Ruby." Weiss screeched

As the camera shifted to various shots, The men of the 20th held their ground. The bodies of the Confederates mounted as wave after wave smashed into the unrelenting lead of the Union soldiers.

But it was not without sacrifice as Chamberlain's men began to fall as well. Despite their defenses, men left and right were hit as they desperately try to hold out.

After a while, there is a lull in the fighting. the camera shows Union soldiers stacking up sticks and logs as a barrier while others reloaded their rifles, ready for the next fight. Among them is Chamberlain who is reloading his pistol.

"He seems exhausted." Blake remarked.

"How many waves were there?" Ruby asked.

There was a grimace on Weiss' face. "It seemed like one."

"Must have been a massive one." Yang scowled. "Those boys look shredded."

Soon another group of Confederate soldiers marched quickly up the hill. Spotted by Kilrain, he noticed something different about the group.

Kilrain "Colonel, look here. A new regiment has arrived that's moving against the left. It's out there. Do you see them?"

As the two watched the Confederates move up, Chamberlain shook his head.

Chamberlain "I don't think we'll be able to hold another one. Get all company commanders up here. On the double."

Buster turns and runs to relay the orders as Chamberlain holsters his pistol and looks around.

Chamberlain "Sergeant Owen!"

Owen "Yes, sir."

Chamberlain "Get up to the top of that hill and report me the situation from up there."

Owen "Yes, sir."

"This is not good." Ruby wiped a tear from her cheek.

"These guys are going to get creamed if they stay there." Yang choked as she offered her sister comfort.

"It is unlikely that they will." Ren stated. His explanation attracted the attention of all. "The majority of us would agree that a retreat is necessary. It is not the case with Jaune. Adapting to his enemy, he modifies his strategy. He makes use of the environment around him. If you were to send him up against a team, he would use all of his preparation time in order to slow, incapacitate, and defeat his opponents. That is how good he is."

"Indeed." Glynda agreed with this statement. "Putting him in direct combat will result in his defeat. When placed in a tactician's environment, he is capable of decimating his adversary. That is one of the reasons I am confident he will prevail in this fight."

Ruby smiled brightly through her tears as Ren and their teacher praised Jaune.

Owen leaves as the Confederates try to fire and advance up the hill. While the 20th was experiencing this, all the officers converged on Chamberlain who gave them the back news.

Chamberlain "We're about to be flanked."

Upon hearing the revelation, RWBY and PR's hearts sank.

Chamberlain "Here's what we'll do. I want you to keep up a good hotmasking fire. Keep a tight hold on the 83rd, on old Pennsylvania over there. I want no break in the line. Captain Clark, that's you. You understand? No breaks. Right wing will sidestep to the left...thinning out to twice the present distance. You see the colors? They will end up down to the extreme left. When you reach that point, we are going to refuse the line."

"What?" The students exclaimed.

"Do not worry, class." Glynda assured them. He means that he will form his troops at an angle so that they can form a defensive position. The purpose of this strategy is to prevent the enemy from flanking or surrounding his troops. It is a strategic maneuver designed to hold their ground and maintain a strong defense."

"Whoa." Weiss said in surprise. "Even I did not know that."

Chamberlain "Understand? We'll form a new line at right angles. We'll pull up as much of a reserve as possible. We've got to be able to counter-attack whenever there's a hole. Any questions?"

Officers "No, sir."

Chamberlain "Fine. Move!"

Immediately the group of officers disbanded to their assigned station while Chamberlain points to Andrew, his Color bearer.

Chamberlain "Lieutenant. You fellows, on the double."

As Chamberlain leads the group away from the center, he plants them on the edge of the formation. In response, Captain Spear called upon his reserve to move to the other side, forming an L shape. As they got into formation, Chamberlain look at his flag-bearer who looked tired.

Chamberlain "How are you, Andrew?"

Andrew"I'm fine, sir. And you?"

Chamberlain: "A bit worn."

Andrew "I'll tell you this Colonel. The boys are putting up a hell of a fight."

Chamberlain: "They are indeed."

"Yeah!" Ruby threw a fist in the air. "Kick their butts, Jaune and show them the power of the Pumpkin Petes!"

Everyone looked at her confused, as the young reaper's eyes grew wide with embarrassment and she shrunk back as Weiss put her hand to her face an groans. 'Children. My team are children.' She thought.

There was a desperate effort by the 20th Maine to hold off the advancing Confederates. After a brief period of resistance, the rebels began to retreat once more. The North kept up its fire. In one instance, a round struck a Confederate in the center while he was loading. It is with pride that one of the soldiers from the Second Maine lowers his rifle.

2nd Maine Soldier 2 "I got me one. I got me a reb."

As the soldier reloaded, Chamberlain and Thomas raced by to see to an injured Kilrain tending to his wounded arm.

Blake's heart dropped at the sight and she put her hand to her mouth. Kilrain was her favorite person. To see him hurt made tears well up in her eyes. She sniffled and put her chin up.

'He will make it' She smiled. 'He will make it.'

Chamberlain "Buster! Are you all right?"

Kilrain "I'll be fine in a minute but plays hell with me target practice."

Chamberlain "The surgeon will see to it."

Kilrain "No. A little bandage is all I'll be needing. A few minutes off my feet. Me brogans are killing me."

Spear came running down to the colonel at this time. Out of breath.

Spear "Colonel, my men are getting low on ammunition."

Immediately Chamberlain looks to his little brother.

Chamberlain"Tom! Go over to the 83rd. Ask them to send what they can. Lieutenant, go get from the wounded and from the others anything you can. Pick up what you can from anywhere."

Kilrain "Here they come, sir!"

True to his word, more rebels started to push up. Thomas runs off to the 83rd while Chamberlain and Spear rush back to their stations, leaving Kilrain to painfully cock back his charging handle.

"By the Brothers." Kali exclaimed. "How much more can these poor boys take?"

"I understand why they can't retreat." Raven replied. A sad look appeared on her face. "But I don't think the 20th will make it out of here alive."

Even Ruby started to see that the outcome was becoming more and more obvious. This may be the last time she sees her best friend. The thought made her sniffle.

With renewed vigor, the Confederates ran up the hill. The Union soldiers opened fire on them with their muskets as the flag bearer for the South was wounded. The flag was picked up by another rebel who dropped his rifle.

The room watched with abated breath as the Confederates began to push a bit more further than the previous companies.

"Drive them back boys!" Raven screamed in anger. The entire room looked at her with wide eyes. The bandit queen stared at them and smirked. "What? Is it not right to cheer for my future son in law?"

Yang hid her face in embarrassment as Nora began to cheer, then Ruby, until finally, the entire room aside from Ghira, Kali and Glynda began shouting their support for the 20th Maine.

In order to assist other federal troops, Kilrain ran to a different location. Although he had his wing clipped, he was still fighting.

"Lets go Buster!" Blake shouted. Tears streaming down her face. "I am not giving up on you yet. Come on!"

During this fight, Chamberlain fought alongside his subordinates, while using his pistol.

"Kick them to the curb, Jaune." Weiss shook her fist. "Show them the error of their ways!"

"Yeah!" Ruby joined her. "Bring the pain. Vomit-Boy!!"

Clark "Keep up the fire! Fill your holes down here."

Chamberlain did his best to keep his fire up with this unit. But as he helped, he did not realize that he was in the sights of a Confederate sharpshooter.

WHAM!!

The round hits Chamberlain and he fall to the ground.

This stunned everyone.

"Jaune!" RWBY screeched in fear.

"No! No, no, no" Nora began to tremble. Not even Ren could hold her.

"You Bastards!!" Yang screamed, her eyes turning red. All thoughts of what was said by her mother was now gone. Replaced by anger, shock and grief. "Get up Jaune! Please, get up."

The adults were shocked. Kali was concerned for her daughter while Glynda was shocked by the event.

As the fight continued, a trio of Union soldiers rush to the fallen Colonel. Two of them were from the 2nd Maine. As they looked over him. Chamberlain opened his eyes and sat up on his elbows.

"He's alive!" Blake said. Everyone breathed out a sigh.

The Colonel looked around. Then he shot a Confederate charging at him, killing him. Southern line had closed in on 20th Maine. They charged, but just as quickly the Confederates retreated.

"Goodness, thank goodness." Glynda spoke, clutching her heart. "This nearly caused me to have a heart attack."

"Oh yeah." Qrow agreed. "It's either this kid's very lucky or the Confederates can't hit their targets."

"Qrow, please." Raven sneered. "It's obvious this boy is lucky. There's no question that the South has some pretty accurate killers. The fact that he just survived a wound, means that he has a guardian watching over him."

Others around Chamberlain helped him get up. He started reassessing his body. He didn't notice any entry wounds on him until he pulled up his sword sheath, bewildered. It was bent. A thin piece of metal saved him from being crippled.

Chamberlain "I'll be damned."

Silence filled the room as they soaked it all in. There wasn't a word to start a conversation. Jaune was close to dying, and a sword scabbard saved him.

"I...I..." Raven started sputtering.

"How?" Weiss began.

"Because he is our Fearless Leader!" Nora cheered. "No bullet is worthy to take Jaune-Jaune's life.

Yang smiled weakly as she dod her best to bring her heartbeat down. "Oh man. I don't ever want to see that happen again."

The doorbell rang just as they were about to start watching the next scene. Ruby stood up to answer the door and Raven and Qrow transitioned to their bird forms. She squealed in terror when she saw who was standing before her.

It was Beacon's headmaster

Ozpin.

I am back.

Well, sorta. I have been in a lull recently. But a lot of my problems have been solved or dealt with.

Yes this is Part 1 of the Round Top. So I hope you enjoy. I will not say that I am back fully. But after debate, I decided to try to watch the rest of the volumes. Keyword: Try.

Forcing myself to watch Vol 9 was harsh. I never before felt a strong urge to punch a girl back into her senses. So thank you Ruby for making me feel that way.

Nevertheless, I am considering bring Velvet into the story. That or I let someone else take what I wrote and modify it for Team CFVY. Or even CMEN.
