Star waved her hands.
The pink dust hung mid-air, covering everything in a thin layer. She couldn't see anything.
Nobody could. There came the sound of coughing from all over. Mixed with the barely audible complaints.
"Aw, come on!"
"That's the third time this week!"
"Oh god, I got some in my mouth!"
But she didn't care.
Star lowered her wand. "Janna? Jackie?"
All that mattered was the spell. It'd been hiding at the very back of the Spellbook. Glossaryck stayed tight lipped when asked about it.
The dust began to clear. Not a whole lot, but enough. She could see lunch-tables here and there as well as her fellow students.
One proceeded to dust off his tray.
But… No Jackie. Or Janna.
"Well, did it work?" Star spun around.
Gurgle.
Star paused.
That sounded… Wet.
Gurgle. Gurgle.
Fleshy.
Something caught her eye.
Star squinted.
Something was wriggling.
No. Somethings.
They began to undulate.
Tendrils. They rose from way down low. Near the closest lunch-table, where Jackie and Janna had been sitti—
Squelch. Squelch. Pop.
The dust cleared.
And the screams began.
