I'm back a day early, but I was home sick so I just kept writing. Please enjoy and remember this is my take on a relationship between Ana and Christian! I do not own any characters from 50 shades! I own Amy as of now. I do want to warn everyone this chapter is hard to write as it has some triggers.
London lived up to every expectation Ana had envisioned. The bustling streets, the rich history, and the vibrant culture all contributed to her excitement. Despite the limited time of just 48 hours in the city, Ana was determined to make the most of every minute.
Tonight was the charity benefit she had been eagerly anticipating. It was a chance for Ana to make a meaningful impact and contribute to a cause close to her heart. The event filled her with a sense of purpose and fulfillment, knowing that her efforts would help make a difference in the lives of others.
Tomorrow she needed a day of exploration and adventure in the incredible city of London. Ana was excited to explore all that the town had to offer, especially the bookstores and tea houses. She loved traveling to new places and getting a chance to explore, it was rare that she traveled outside the US, so when she did Ana couldn't help herself grabbing as much as she could in souvenirs. London for her would be the perfect spot to find new romantic books and the best teas.
However, amidst her excitement and anticipation, Ana couldn't shake the thought of seeing Christian again in just a few days. The prospect of their reunion threw her emotions into a whirlwind, leaving her feeling both distracted and hopeful. She tried to focus on the present moment, relishing her time in London while remaining optimistic about what the future might hold.
"Ana, are you with me?" Kate's playful tone accompanied a shake of her head as she noticed Ana's sudden jerk. "Lost in thoughts about a certain actor, I see," she teased. "It's amusing how comfortable you two looked at the party, considering just three weeks ago, you couldn't stand the sight of him."
"Um, well..." Ana stammered, a faint blush creeping onto her cheeks as she tried to evade confirming Kate's observation. "I wouldn't say cozy, exactly. It was just... a different vibe, I guess."
Kate arched an eyebrow, clearly amused by Ana's attempt at deflection. "Oh, come on, Ana. I've known you too long to miss that sparkle in your eyes whenever he's around," she remarked knowingly.
Ana couldn't help but smile sheepishly, knowing that Kate was right. "Okay, maybe there's something there," she admitted reluctantly, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
Kate grinned, delighted to have Ana acknowledge what she had observed. "I knew it! So, spill the details. How did this sudden change happen? Last I heard, you were practically avoiding him like the plague," she prodded, eager for the gossip.
Ana chuckled, feeling a mix of embarrassment and excitement. "Well, it's a long story," she began, launching into a recount of the events that had unfolded between her and Christian over the past few weeks. She shared how their interactions had shifted during the party, Christian's unexpected attentiveness, and the surprising connection she had felt with him.
As Ana spoke, Kate listened intently, occasionally interjecting with playful comments or questions. By the end of her story, Ana couldn't help but feel relieved to have shared her thoughts and experiences with her friend, even if she was still navigating her feelings and uncertainties about where things might go with Christian. "I knew something was up, but I assumed it was just nothing and rumors. This is going to be amazing! I mean if this is…"
Ana squeezed her best friend and manager's hand, a look of concern in her eyes. "No, Kate, this is already confusing enough as it is. I don't want to add the media to this equation. Can't we just play coy for a while? I don't need the pressure of everyone assuming it's just for publicity," she pleaded, her voice tinged with apprehension.
Kate nodded understandingly, sensing Ana's hesitation and desire for privacy. "Of course, Ana. We'll keep things low-key for now. Your personal life is yours to navigate, and we can handle the media speculation later, if and when something occurs," she reassured, giving Ana's hand a reassuring squeeze in return.
The two friends settled into a more comfortable conversation, discussing their feelings about the situation and how best to approach it moving forward. Ana felt relieved to have Kate's support and understanding, knowing that she could trust her to manage the delicate balance between personal and public life. "thank you, Kate." Ana relaxed a bit before they started to discuss the night's events. "What time do we start getting ready?"
Kate and Ana sat down at a little cafe and ordered some coffee. "Well we will be getting ready shortly, but I wanted to come out and relax a bit before. You'll start getting ready after this. I cannot wait for you to see this couture dress that is going to be amazing on you. As nervous as you are you're going to steal the show."
The charity event held a deep significance for Ana, as High Hopes aimed to provide vital assistance to those in need of mental health resources. The gala was a crucial opportunity to raise substantial funds, ensuring that their outreach could extend to a large number of people. With Kate's unwavering support and Ana's passionate dedication, they meticulously planned every aspect of the event, from securing high-profile attendees to organizing captivating auction items.
The elegant venue sparkled with decorations and anticipation, setting the stage for an evening of philanthropy and generosity. Ana felt a swell of pride as she glanced around, seeing the culmination of months of hard work and collaboration.
"I'm just glad we're able to do this here," Ana remarked, her voice filled with gratitude as she took in the sight of guests mingling and engaging with the cause.
As they sipped their coffees, Kate's casual question caught Ana off guard, but it also added a layer of intrigue to the evening. "Random question... did you tell Christian why you were in London?" Kate's tone held a hint of curiosity that piqued Ana's interest.
Ana furrowed her brow in confusion, trying to recall if she had mentioned her purpose in London to Christian. "No, why?" she inquired, her curiosity growing.
With a mischievous grin, Kate shook her head, clearly enjoying the playful suspense. "You'll have to wait and see. I'm not going to spoil this surprise," she teased, leaving Ana both intrigued and amused by her friend's cryptic response. Before Ana could press for more details, the waiter arrived with their coffees, momentarily shifting their focus as they indulged in a moment of relaxation amidst the bustling atmosphere of the charity gala.
The melodies of London's bustling streets seemed to echo the rhythm of Ana's thoughts as she navigated through the city, her mind alive with creative energy. The upcoming charity gala held a special significance for her, not just as a philanthropic endeavor but also as a source of inspiration for her musical journey.
"Have you started writing the song yet for the movie?" Kate's voice cut through the ambient buzz of the café where they sat, her curiosity reflecting the spark in her eyes.
Ana paused, her gaze turning inward as she considered Kate's question. "Well, sorta," she began, her voice a gentle cadence in the lively ambiance. "I've been jotting down ideas and melodies, but I haven't finalized anything yet." It wasn't exactly a lie, she'd gotten deep into the creative process, especially after Christian had left her house. She felt a deep connection to the characters and narrative of the movie as if the story's essence was already woven into the fabric of her being. She'd prayed for this role. It was what made her fall in love with love again after everything she went through.
"I feel like I need to immerse myself in the filming experience," Ana continued, her words tinged with a blend of determination and artistic contemplation. "Taking inspiration from the unfolding scenes and emotions will add an authentic touch to the song." And spending time with Christian and pulling from their newly formed bond.
Kate nodded in understanding, her supportive presence anchoring Ana's creative exploration. "That sounds like a great approach," Kate remarked, her voice carrying a note of encouragement. "Your connection to the material shines through in everything you do." Kate was proud of Ana. there wasn't a doubt in her mind that she would make the best choice of music and storyline for her music. It would be amazing to be in the presence and listen to it live.
As Ana sipped her coffee, the city's vibrant pulse seemed to synchronize with the rhythm of her thoughts. The charity gala, with its noble cause and artistic ambiance, provided the perfect backdrop for Ana to delve deeper into her musical journey. She knew that within the melodies she crafted, there lay a piece of the story waiting to be sung, a testament to her passion and dedication to her art. "I'm so excited for you Ana, your mom and dad would be so proud of you. Tonight especially." A sad smile formed on Ana's lips as the world was drowned out by the bustle of London.
Ana's eyes shimmered with a mixture of joy and nostalgia as she gazed at her reflection in the mirror. The red-carpet dress, a homage to her mother's wedding gown, embodied elegance and grace in every stitch. The off-the-shoulder bodice hugged her figure perfectly, accentuating her curves in a way that felt both timeless and contemporary. The straight surplice neckline added a touch of sophistication, while the long cap sleeves added a hint of modesty.
Her brunette hair, styled in an elegant updo, framed her face beautifully, with two loose strands delicately falling to the front, adding a soft and romantic touch to her look. Running her fingers lightly over the fabric, Ana marveled at the intricate details that had been carefully crafted by the designer. The zippered back gave the dress a modern edge, contrasting beautifully with the classic A-line skirt that cascaded down in gentle folds. The floor-length hemline lent an air of regality to her ensemble, making her feel like royalty stepping onto the red carpet.
Tears threatened to fall as she turned to admire the dress from different angles, Ana couldn't help but feel a surge of emotion. This wasn't just a dress; it was a symbol of love, family, and cherished memories. It represented a blending of past and present, a fusion of tradition and modernity that mirrored her journey.
Taking another deep breath to steady her nerves, Ana whispered a silent thank you to Kate for orchestrating such a meaningful surprise. The dress was more than just attire for a gala; it was a statement, a tribute, and a testament to the bonds that tied her to her past and propelled her toward the future. "I hope I make you guys proud." Her eyes closed as she tugged at the heart necklace her father had given her years ago. She needed the strength from them as she got ready to head to the gala. ~Headed downstairs. Meet you at the car.~ Ana texted Kate. Taking her clutch she looked once more at herself before locking up the hotel room.
As she headed to the elevator, Ethan, her bodyguard, and Kate's brother came up to press the button. "You look stunning, Annie," Ethan remarked with a smile. He had been like a big brother to her after everything she'd been through with her parent's death, a pillar of support. "Kate outdid herself with this dress."
"Thanks, E. I'm just glad she's my date tonight and I don't have to go to my party alone." Ana disliked attending events solo, especially on such a significant occasion.
Ethan laughed softly as the elevator reached the first floor. "Funny you should say that. She's going to meet you at the party. She wants you to make a grand entrance and all," he teased, knowing Kate's penchant for orchestrating dramatic moments.
Smiling, Ana nodded, trying to quell the nerves that were beginning to build. "Well, let's get going then."
After navigating their way to the car through the back entrance to avoid unwanted attention, Ana and Ethan drove to the venue. As they approached, Ana's eyes widened at the sight of the dazzling lights and bustling activity surrounding the museum. "It looks incredible," she murmured, excitement and anticipation coursing through her.
"Let's make this entrance unforgettable," Ethan said with a reassuring grin as he pulled up in front of the red carpet. The flashing lights heightened Ana's nerves, but Ethan's words were a grounding force. "Take a deep breath, Ana. When I open the door, the lights will flash. Remember why you're here. Your mom and dad would be so proud. Show these people how amazing you are." Ethan's gaze conveyed genuine care and support for Ana, like a brother looking out for his sister.
Nodding, Ana watched as Ethan left the car, all too soon the door was open. Taking a deep breath, Ana's hand reached out for Ethan's, her heart raced with anticipation. But when she felt a different energy coursing through her, she looked up to find Christian standing there with a half-smile that sent a jolt of electricity down her spine. For a moment, time seemed to stand still as they locked eyes, a myriad of emotions swirling between them. "I heard you were in the market for a date." Christian helped Ana out of the car, Ana couldn't help the smile that came across her lips. "You look beautiful."
As Ana squeezed his hand, her cheeks flushed with surprise and a hint of pleasure. "How did you know?" she asked, her eyes reflecting a mix of curiosity and appreciation. She hadn't expected Christian to be there, especially considering she hadn't mentioned her London trip's purpose to him.
Christian's half-smile turned into a warm grin as he walked beside her down the red carpet. "Mom and Dad are here," he explained, his tone gentle yet filled with admiration. "They care a lot about the work you are doing, and honestly, I do too. I admire your dedication, Ana. Why wouldn't I be here?"
Ana's heart fluttered at his words, feeling a surge of gratitude and fondness towards him. His unexpected presence was a pleasant surprise amidst the glitz and glamor of the event. The flashing lights of the cameras seemed to fade into the background as they walked, their connection growing stronger with each step.
The atmosphere around them buzzed with excitement and anticipation, but for Ana and Christian, it was a moment of quiet understanding and support. Despite the chaos of the red carpet and the crowd's chatter, they shared a moment of unity and shared purpose, each appreciating the other's presence in their lives.
As they reached the end of the red carpet, Ana glanced at Christian, a soft smile playing on her lips. "Thank you for being here," she whispered, her voice filled with genuine gratitude and warmth. Christian met her gaze with a reassuring nod, silently conveying his support and admiration for her endeavors.
Christian helped Ana up the steps to the podium where the interviewer, who was awarded access for the evening, awaited them. It was one of the few rules Ana had made for the event – she didn't want the focus to be on the celebrities attending but rather on the mental health movement she was advocating for.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm here with the host of the evening, Miss Anastasia Steele. Thank you so much for allowing E! News here tonight to celebrate High Hopes. How excited are you at the turnout?" the reporter asked, directing the question to Ana.
Ana felt a wave of gratitude and excitement as she addressed the reporter. "I'm beyond happy. I'm honestly thankful for everyone coming out to support such an amazing movement. Mental health is something our world is dealing with day to day. Over 50 million adults are coping with some form of mental illness. It's time to try and help them. I'm just grateful that so many people are willing to lend their support," she replied, her voice resonating with passion and determination.
The interviewer, noticing Ana's stunning dress, couldn't help but ask about its inspiration. "I have to ask, what is the inspiration for your dress? It is so beyond gorgeous! I mean, I have never seen anything like it," the reporter inquired, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Ana smiled, feeling a sense of pride in the dress that held a special significance for her. "Thank you so much! The inspiration for this dress comes from my mother's wedding gown. It's a tribute to her and the love she had for my father. Kate, my best friend, manager, and PR queen had this dress made and wanted to incorporate that sentimental value into tonight's event. She knew how much it meant to me," Ana explained, her gaze briefly flickering towards Christian, who stood by her side with admiration in his eyes.
"I do love how your costar Christian Grey is also here supporting your cause. We also saw Mr.&Mrs. Grey walk the red carpet. They did have a message for you that we wanted to play." Ana was taken aback as a small video started playing.
"So do you have any words for Ana on this beautiful night?" the interviewer asked as she stared at Carrick and Grace.
"Thank you," Grace said, her voice filled with warmth and sincerity. "Ana dear, we are so proud of you. You truly are a light in such a dark world. I can honestly say this event is amazing, but it's the soul you put into it that has made it perfect."
Carrick nodded in agreement, adding, "We never got to meet your mom and dad, but knowing you is knowing them. They raised such a kind and loving woman, and I hope you know they are smiling down on you. The strength you have to be the voice for so many, it's beautiful. We love you and can't wait to see you inside."
"Wow…" Ana felt a lump form in her throat as she listened to Carrick and Grace's words. Their love and support meant everything to her, especially on such an important night. With a grateful smile, she replied to the camera, "Thank you both. Your words mean the world to me. I carry their love with me always, and tonight, I hope to honor their memory and make a difference in the lives of those struggling with mental health challenges."
"Thank you for your time Ana. I hope you have an amazing night." The interviewer signed off. As the cameras went down, Amy turned to Ana. "I just have to say, thank you! I suffer from depression and struggle a lot, you truly are an inspiration to us all. thank you…" Amy had tears in her eyes as she hugged Ana.
As Ana pulled away she smiled at the young interviewer. "I want you to come inside and listen to the speech I have to do. I would be honored if you sat with us at dinner." Amy's eyes lit up, "I'll even let you sit next to my date." She giggled as someone was trying to get Ana's attention. "I have to go but meet up with Kate, I'll let her know."
Christian helped Ana down and smiled for one more picture before they walked into the venue. Ana was blown away by the beauty that the inside produced. It was breathtaking. "I honestly cannot be happier with how beautiful things are." Ana smiled looking around, but she could feel Christian's eyes on her. "What?"
"I just can't stay away from you…" He admitted as he took her hand again. The feeling was exploding all of a sudden something about seeing her in this atmosphere made him just want to take a leap of faith.
Ana's heart skipped a beat at Christian's confession. His words, spoken with such sincerity, resonated deeply within her. Despite the whirlwind of emotions and uncertainties, there was an undeniable pull between them, a magnetic force that seemed to defy logic. "Then don't," Ana whispered, her voice barely audible over the ambient sounds of the event. Her eyes met his, conveying a mixture of vulnerability and longing. It was a moment suspended in time, where everything else faded into the background.
Christian's gaze softened as he searched her eyes, his hand gently squeezing hers. "Ana, I know this might be sudden, but I can't shake the feeling that there's something special between us," he confessed, his voice filled with honesty and a hint of hesitation.
Ana nodded, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "I feel it too," she admitted, her heart racing with anticipation and a hint of nervousness. The connection they shared was undeniable, transcending mere attraction to something more profound.
They stood there for a moment, lost in their world amidst the bustling activity of the event. It was as if time had paused, allowing them to explore the unspoken emotions swirling between them.
"I want to see where this goes," Christian said softly, his eyes never leaving hers. His words hung in the air, heavy with meaning and possibility.
Ana took a deep breath, feeling a surge of courage and determination. "Me too," she replied, her voice steady despite the butterflies fluttering in her stomach. With a shared understanding and a newfound sense of connection, Christian and Ana stepped deeper into the venue and towards their seats. The going-with-the-flow idea truly stuck between them. She wasn't looking to rush into anything, but she was willing to find out what could happen. "I need to get ready to go speak…maybe we can talk after the party?"
"We can talk whenever," Christian admitted as she got up and moved towards the stage.
As Jimmy Kimmel stood at the podium, his eyes scanned the audience before he began speaking. "Before we dive into tonight's event, I want to take a moment to talk about someone very special to me and many of you here. Ana Steele, the driving force behind High Hopes, is not just an advocate for mental health but a beacon of strength and resilience."
The crowd murmured in agreement, some nodding knowingly as Jimmy continued. "I had the privilege of knowing Ana's family, her parents, who were dear friends of mine. They were pillars of kindness and compassion, traits that Ana embodies every day. I know they would be bursting with pride if they were here tonight, seeing their daughter making such a profound impact on the world."
Jimmy's voice carried a mix of admiration and pride as he spoke about Ana. "Ana's journey has been marked by challenges, but she's faced them with courage and grace. Her struggles are not just a part of her past; they are the fuel that drives her mission to destigmatize mental health issues and offer support to those in need."
Turning his attention to Ana, who stood to the left of him, Jimmy's eyes softened with warmth. "Ana, I want you to know how proud I am of you, of the woman you've become, and the incredible work you're doing through High Hopes. Your resilience, your dedication, and your compassion inspire us all. Tonight, as we come together to support this vital cause, let's remember the power of unity and empathy in creating a brighter future for everyone. Ladies and Gentlemen, please put your hands together for the amazing woman of the night. Miss. Anastasia Steele."
The crowd erupted into applause, the room filled with a sense of admiration and respect for Ana's journey and her tireless efforts in the mental health advocacy community. As she walked up to her friend, she tightened her arms around him. Tears threatened to fall as they embraced one another. "Thank you." She whispered before walking up to the mic. Taking a deep breath she looked out into the crowd. this was not an easy thing to do for her, but when it came to something she believed in all nerves were wiped away.
"Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed guests, and dear friends. Tonight, as we come together to support the vital cause of mental health, I am reminded of my journey—a journey marked by struggles, but also by resilience, hope, and healing." Ana's voice trembled slightly with emotion as she began her speech, her eyes briefly meeting Christian's before focusing on the audience. She took a moment to absorb the atmosphere of the room, filled with supporters of mental health advocacy and felt a surge of gratitude and determination.
"After the tragic loss of my parents, I found myself navigating the depths of grief, loss, and overwhelming emotions. Depression and anxiety became unwelcome companions on my path, casting shadows of doubt and fear over my days. It was a dark and challenging time, one that tested my strength and resolve in ways I never imagined." Ana's voice carried the weight of her past struggles, each word resonating with the rawness of her experiences. She painted a vivid picture of the emotional turmoil she endured, allowing the audience to empathize with her journey.
Taking a deep breath, Ana continued with determination in her voice, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "But in darkness, I discovered the transformative power of therapy and support. Through counseling and the unwavering love of family and friends, I learned to confront my inner demons, to face the pain and turmoil head-on. It was not an easy journey; there were moments of doubt, of setbacks, but also moments of breakthrough and healing." Her voice quivered slightly as she recalled the moments of breakthrough, the turning points that paved the way for her healing and growth. Christian watched as Ana slowly became overwhelmed with emotions. The hardest part of it was letting everyone know her past.
Her voice quavered slightly as she spoke of her sanctuary. Only her close personal friends and Jimmy knew the battle she went through trying to heal. "Therapy became my sanctuary, a safe space where I could unravel the tangled threads of my emotions, confront my fears, and rebuild my sense of self-worth. It was through therapy that I discovered the importance of self-care, of prioritizing my mental and emotional well-being as much as my physical health." Ana's words carried a sense of reverence for the healing journey she undertook, emphasizing the significance of mental health care and self-compassion.
"Support from loved ones was also instrumental in my recovery journey," Ana's voice grew stronger, fueled by gratitude and determination. "Their empathy, understanding, and unconditional love provided me with the strength and courage to continue moving forward, even on the darkest of days. Their belief in me, their reassurance that I was not alone in my struggles, gave me hope and a renewed sense of purpose." She expressed profound gratitude for the unwavering support of Kate and Ethan and their family. Honestly, she couldn't have gotten through the worst of it without them pushing her to get the help she needed.
Ana's gaze swept across the audience, her eyes reflecting a mix of pain and resilience. "Today, I stand before you as a testament to the power of resilience, of seeking help when needed, and of embracing vulnerability as a pathway to healing. My journey is just one among many, a reminder that mental health challenges do not define us; rather, they are part of our human experience, shaping us into stronger, more compassionate individuals." She conveyed a message of hope and empowerment, inspiring others to embrace their journeys with courage and resilience.
"As we gather tonight to raise awareness and support for mental health, let us remember that healing is possible, that recovery is not just a dream but a reality within reach. Let us continue to break the stigma, foster empathy and understanding, and create a world where mental health is met with compassion and support. Together, we can make a difference. Thank you for being part of this important conversation, for your kindness, and for standing with me in solidarity with all those who bravely navigate the terrain of mental health challenges. Let us join hands and hearts in this journey of healing and hope. Thank you." Ana's closing words made Christian see Ana in a different light. He knew she was different than the other women in this world, but the emotions she was producing and allowing people to see were beautiful. It was a switch in everything. He was the first one to stand and clap for Ana and he didn't care. She drew him in with her words of encouragement and vulnerability.
As she walked down she was stopped by many of the guests. All offering kind words or words of encouragement; it was strange, but she just wanted to get to her table to be with Kate, Ethan, the Greys, and Christian. She wanted to make them proud, she needed to know what they thought about her after the speech.
When she finally made it to the table everyone greeted her with love and admiration. The words made her feel at peace with how the speech went. "I have no words Ana, but wonderful job. This whole night and the speech was beautiful. I knew you were strong, but that was beautiful dear." Grace hugged the young woman who seemed to capture her son's heart. "I'm so impressed with your words and how deep they hit." Both Carrick and Grace hugged her close.
Kate and Ethan beamed with pride as they embraced Ana, expressing their admiration for her courage and the impact of her words. Their support and encouragement reaffirmed Ana's sense of purpose and determination to continue advocating for mental health awareness and support. "You already know how we feel. I'm excited for the rest of the night." Kate smiled kissing her friend's cheek.
Ana felt a rush of warmth as Christian's hand settled on her lap, his touch gentle yet sending a surge of electricity through her. She glanced at him, her eyes reflecting a mix of emotions—gratitude, admiration, and a hint of vulnerability softened by trust. As they exchanged glances, Christian's thumb traced gentle circles on the back of her hand, a subtle yet intimate gesture that spoke volumes. What was this? Why did something so different and so quick feel so natural?
"Thank you for being there tonight. It meant a lot to have you by my side," she said, her voice carrying the weight of her appreciation, her gaze momentarily lingering on his hand. Ana couldn't help but feel comforted by his mere presence, strange but welcoming.
Christian met her gaze with a genuine smile, his eyes reflecting a deep sense of pride and admiration. "You were incredible up there. Your words had such depth and honesty," he remarked, his thumb gently caressing her hand in a comforting and reassuring manner. It was crazy to feel his touch making her feel something she'd never felt. Something so subtle, yet strong went through her.
Ana's cheeks flushed slightly, the praise from Christian touching her deeply. She looked down for a moment, collecting her thoughts before meeting his gaze again. "It's been a journey, you know? Opening up like that in front of everyone," she confessed, her voice revealing a mix of vulnerability and quiet strength, her fingers intertwining with his in a subtle yet intimate gesture.
He nodded in understanding, his expression thoughtful as he listened intently to her words. "I can imagine. It takes courage to share such personal experiences," he acknowledged, his tone filled with empathy and respect for her journey, his touch offering silent support and understanding.
"It's just... sometimes it feels like a weight lifted off my shoulders when I talk about it. Like I'm not carrying it all alone anymore," Ana revealed, her eyes searching his for understanding, finding comfort in his presence, her thumb brushing lightly against his hand as they shared a moment of unspoken connection.
Christian's touch on her hand became more reassuring, his gaze softening as he spoke from the heart. "I'm glad you feel that way. You deserve to feel supported and understood," he replied, his words carrying a depth of sincerity that resonated with her, their hands remaining intertwined as they shared a moment of quiet intimacy amid the bustling surroundings.
Ana's smile grew, a genuine warmth spreading through her as she looked at Christian. "Thank you for listening and for being here," she said, her gratitude evident in her eyes as she conveyed her appreciation for his unwavering support, their hands gently squeezing in a silent gesture of mutual understanding and connection.
Christian leaned in slightly, his voice a soft whisper filled with sincerity and affection. "Always," he whispered, his gaze locked with hers, their unspoken connection deepening in the quiet moment shared between them, their intertwined hands a silent promise of support and companionship. In that moment things had changed.
As the night continued full of smooth and enjoyable interactions, Christian and Ana found themselves practically inseparable. Christian made sure to keep a close eye on Ana throughout the evening, hardly letting her out of his sight. Despite occasional interruptions for interviews about the charity or conversations with friends, they remained connected, their bond palpable to those around them.
Ethan's voice broke through their shared moments, his protective nature evident as he addressed Christian. "You know you're going to have to admit you guys have something, right?" Ethan's concern for Ana went beyond his role as a bodyguard; he had grown into a protective older brother figure for her. "I mean, the two of you are going to be watched all the time now. You've become the new couple of Hollywood."
Christian chuckled lightly, his gaze still fixed on Ana as she danced with Kate on the dance floor. The idea of their relationship becoming public was not lost on him. While he was ready to embrace it, he knew that Ana's comfort and readiness were paramount. He turned back to Ethan with a nod, acknowledging the implications of their growing connection in the public eye. "Yeah, I know. We'll figure it out," he replied, a hint of determination in his voice as he considered the possibilities that lay ahead for them. "She makes it easy to be around her huh?"
Ethan's voice softened as he delved into the intricacies of Ana's life story. "I've known her almost all my life," he began, his eyes reflecting a mix of fondness and protectiveness. "When Kate brought her over once, I just knew she was going to be a big part of my life." He recalled the early days of their friendship, a bond that had grown deeper over the years.
"When her mom put her on the Broadway circuit, it took her little time to rise in the ranks," Ethan continued, a proud smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Watching her perform is an art. Ana steals a scene and captures the audience like she did tonight," he remarked, admiration evident in his tone as he recounted Ana's talent and stage presence.
"But when her parents passed away last year, we thought we'd lost her," Ethan's expression grew somber, memories of the difficult times resurfacing. "I won't tell you the story or how they died, but it was rough." The pain of Ana's loss was palpable in Ethan's voice, a reminder of the depth of their shared grief.
"She gave up for a while, didn't want to sing or be happy. It was hard to watch," Ethan's gaze turned distant for a moment, recalling the moments of despair and heartache Ana had faced. "But she's strong," he emphasized, a note of admiration and pride evident in his voice. "If you hurt her, I can't express how much I will hurt you," Ethan's protective instinct shone through, a clear warning that Ana's well-being was his top priority.
"I couldn't... She's become more than important to me," Christian elaborated, his voice carrying a mix of sincerity and vulnerability. "It's like she's opened up a part of me I didn't know existed. I've never felt this kind of connection before, and it's both exhilarating and terrifying at the same time." He paused, searching for the right words to convey his emotions. Christian smiled as Ana waved at him blushing. "I'm going to steal her away for a bit."
Christian walked briskly, his hand clasping Ana's, their fingers intertwining as if they were meant to fit together. Ana followed his lead without question, the evening air crisp against their formal attire. They walked in comfortable silence, the weight of unspoken words hanging between them, adding a layer of intimacy to the moment.
It wasn't until they were a few blocks away from the bustling venue, the sounds of the charity gala fading into the background, that Ana broke the silence. "Are you going to tell me where we're going?" she inquired, her voice a playful mixture of curiosity and anticipation.
Christian turned to her with a soft smile, his eyes reflecting the dim glow of the streetlights. "It's a surprise," he replied, his tone teasing yet filled with warmth. He led her around a corner, and as they approached a familiar sign, Ana's laughter bubbled up. "Cornelia Street?"
The street sign stood proudly under the gentle illumination of a nearby lamp, casting a golden hue on the cobblestone pavement. Ana's eyes widened in realization, touched by the thoughtful gesture. "One of the first times I saw you was in a magazine," Christian began, his gaze locked on her. "You were talking about the places you've always wanted to see. Cornelia Street is in the center of London, just like it is in New York."
Ana's cheeks flushed with a mixture of surprise and delight. It was a small, unexpected gesture, yet it spoke volumes about Christian's attentiveness and the effort he put into understanding her. The significance of the moment wasn't lost on her—it was a quiet affirmation of their connection, a shared memory in the making. "You are a crazy man Christian Grey."
Christian chuckled softly as slowly moved a loose curl out of her face and tucked it behind her ear. "I'm crazy enough to do this." Christian slowly moved to close the distance as he leaned down to cover Ana's lips with his.
Christian's kiss was gentle yet filled with a depth of emotion that spoke volumes. It was a silent affirmation of the connection they were beginning to acknowledge and embrace. Ana felt a rush of emotions—desire, longing, and a sense of rightness that she couldn't quite put into words. In that fleeting moment, everything else faded away, leaving only the electric intensity of their shared passion.
As they slowly pulled apart, their eyes met, and for a heartbeat, time seemed to stand still. Christian's gaze held a warmth and tenderness that made Ana's heart flutter. It was a silent conversation between them, a mutual understanding of what was happening, what could happen, and what they wanted to happen.
Ana couldn't help but smile, a radiant expression that mirrored the happiness and contentment she felt at that moment. She realized that Cornelia Street had become more than just a location—it was now a cherished memory… A moment embedded in her heart and mind. "Don't break me…"
Christian stroked her cheek softly, wiping away any doubt and allowing the fire between them to burn hotter. "I couldn't even if I tried." Closing her eyes, Ana let his words overtake any doubt she had at the moment.

This chapter was hard to write for many reasons. I stopped writing because I suffered a few losses in the last few years. Between my grandpa & Uncle passing away and my relationship ending I grew depressed and my anxiety got the best of me and I couldn't bring myself to write again. This chapter is important to me because I wrote that speech for an actual event and decided to rework it into my story.
second author's note: Also I want to remind everyone this is my fantasy so when it came to the idea of naming streets I took creative licences and moved Cornelia Street to London too.
Please read and Review. I'm going to try and post another chapter saturday.
