TFP: Youngling

Ch.24~ Mystery Coordinates

I woke up and went to check on Stargazer, going to her room I opened the door. I saw her on her side, her face on the edge of the berth seems she was hitting the rough part. I saw a small bit of bile on the floor, looks like she fell back into recharge after being sick. I scooped her up and she groaned as I began to carry her to the main area.

"Good morning old friend." Optimus greeted; I saw he had returned from his early morning patrol.

"Morning, mind holding her a bit, seems she's hitting the worst of it," I asked, he took her as I went into my storage to grab a rag.

"She's been fairly good so far; she certainly is handling this well." He stated as I put cleaner on the rag.

"She might have a milder case, I guess she has more firewalls than I first thought," I stated, might be from her time on the ship as a sparkling.

I headed to her room and quickly wiped up the bile, the cleaner I made was very good at cleaning energon. It was able to break it down to more base compounds. After I cleaned, I went to the small makeshift wash racks and set in it the sink. Now that she is getting to this stage, I will have to keep her energon levels lower. Can't waste energon besides it will help with the vomiting.

I think I have a fluid syringe in storage, I can use that to give her fuel until she's recovered. Heading to the storage area I began to look around in the crates for the syringe. If I remember I made this not long after we first arrived. When I was still developing the ground bridge, I made it to use the test the bridge without wasting energon.

I found it and I smiled taking it to the wash rack I quickly cleaned it off.

I smiled and headed back out to the main area; I saw Optimus was rocking Stargazer. I saw that she was awake and looked upset, I set aside the syringe and walked over to them. She was whimpering and clicking in discomfort. Optimus handed her to me and I began to rub her backstruts holding her close to my spark.

"Not feeling good, are you Star?" I hushed, she whimpered more. "I know, you can sleep it off…"

I rocked her a bit as I rubbed her back and soon, she was back into recharge. I will probably have to have someone holding her through this. I sighed and adjusted my hold on her a bit, I saw Optimus smiling at me. I smiled back as I got her settled so I could hold her in one servo.

"Seems she is not handling it as well as I thought." He stated, I rolled my optics.

"They never do." I huffed.

(Later)

"Hey, Ratchet!" Miko called, I shushed her as she hopped out of Bulkheads seats. "Crabby today…"

I sighed as she sulkily got up onto the human area and I could hear the others were arriving too. Soon they all came in, giving their usual greetings before heading up to their area. I was working on some planetary scans searching for Energon and Decepticon activities. Stargazer was sleeping again, which was good if she is recharging, she will not get sick as much.

"Is Star okay?" Rafael asked, I looked to him to see he looked concerned.

"She's just hitting the worst part of this, best for her to sleep it off," I answered, he nodded.

"She'll be better next week, right?" he continued, I nodded.

"Yes, she will be better by then," I assured, he nodded.

"I'll try to keep Jack and Miko quieter than normal." He stated, I smiled at him as he turned back to the other humans.

He was a good kid, smart, mature, and extremely well behaved. Over time I am becoming fonder of the human children. Jack was a very mature young man and took care to watch the others. Miko while she is insanely reckless and impulsive, she does have a good heart. Honestly, she reminds me of the twins when they were younger.

I may be warming up to this planet, still, I wished we still had our home planet. Maybe once this is all over, we can find a new planet to settle and begin to form our new permanent home on. Optimus has more hope that maybe we can share the human's planet. He has his project in Griffin Rock, I only see it as a place to train the next generation of Rescue Bots to come after the war. Humans are rather good at getting themselves into trouble after all.

(Optimus's POV)

Star was almost over her illness; she was feeling better today and was able to sip on her energon a bit. I was happy to see that; it was worrying to see her so ill lately. I have become very accustomed to her excited chatter and her greetings. She always rushed me once I returned to base to hug my pedes.

I headed to the small room we had in the back of the base. It was were I kept in contact with the Rescue Bot team; it was best to keep the teams access there limited. Due to many reasons, the island was rather unknown to the majority of Earth. Which in turn makes Decepticon activity very unlikely. But best to not draw more attention there than needed.

Entering the room, I saw that a call coming in, I slide into the room and answered the call. I saw young Heatwave at the comm, he looked a bit troubled. I knew his assignment to Griffin Rock was still troubling him. He is a mech of brash nature, but he will not be able to help in the war. His time is spent learning from humans for the day the war ends and more of our people come out of hiding.

"Optimus Prime sir, I have a question?" he began, I nodded.

"Go ahead Heatwave," I stated, he lowered his posture.

"I am a bit concerned about something." He started, I nodded. "My team and I are doing good to keep our secret but I am still running into situations where I feel like we may fail or jobs if we pretend…"

"I believe that doing your job, protecting the humans of Griffin Rock outweighs the need to keep a secret. If there is a situation where you must act independently to protect someone. I give you and your team full permission to do so." I explained, he nodded.

"Thank you, sir, that makes me feel a bit better." He stated, I smiled.

"Keep up your mission on Griffin Rock," I stated he saluted. "I must get back to work, keep up the good work."

"Will do sir." He finished and I ended the call.

When they arrived, it was the first time I was struck with what to do after the war. I don't want Cybertron to be run in a military fashion. We should restore it as much as we can. After the war, bots should return to normal life if they can. Keeping our military as the base of our society will only lead to more trouble.

It's a world the non-combatants, soldiers and the other younglings like Stargazer deserve. We are getting closer to the end of this war; I can feel it in my spark. After so long we might finally see the goal, and I must prepare for it. Maybe something along the lines of rescue work will be what Stargazer will go into. Well if she does not go into medicine like Ratchet, she certainly will always have that drive to help anyone.

I began to work on the plans for the Rescue Bots, it was best to get as much of this planning done now. Things will pick up again soon now that Megatron is back to rule his army. I shook off those ideas as I worked, it is best not to dwell on that. I need to think of all the positives, focus on the future that will come. The future Stargazer will be able to run into and thrive.

(Stargazer's POV)

It has been a week since I recovered from my Cyberflu, it had been such a long week. Lately, I noticed something, Sire would bridge himself to the same coordinates. Why was he patrolling the same area? Now I was realising he never left ready to fight and he almost always walked through the bridge.

Carrier was busy with repairs as everyone else had been bumping up patrols. I could tell everyone was getting more tense, so why did Sire go off for a day or so? No one questioned it, not even my brothers. Today before he left, I put a sticker on him that Miko left. It was small, but if it returned fine it meant this wasn't a battle.

I heard the bridge open; I saw Sire walking through he looked the same as when he left. Usually, he walked differently when he returns from fighting or a long patrol. I raced over and hugged him, I peeked and saw the sticker was still on and looked fine. So, it wasn't a battle zone, was it a short patrol route?

"I hope you haven't been too bored?" he stated, I pulled back.

"I'm okay, but it is kinda boring," I admitted, he knelt down and rubbed my helm. "Were you on patrol?"

"I was on a short mission." He stated, was he helping Fowler with a mission. "Did you finish your schoolwork?"

"Uhuh, Carrier said he'd teach me more after he finishes some repairs," I explained, he patted my helm.

"Well I have a bit before I have to head out again, would you like to study your Cybertronian a bit?" he stated, I nodded Sire was taking time to teach me Cybertronian language both speaking and writing.

"Uhuh, I think I'm getting a bit better, see I can write everyone's names now!" I chimed pulling out my datapad to show him my writing.

"Very good, you certainly learn fast." He praised, I smiled at him.

I'll figure out where he's going later.

(Later)

Everyone was out, Carrier was busy deep in the base on repairs and told me to stay away. I began to look through the main system, I saw the coordinates that Sire kept going to. I copied them into my datapad and began to search up where they were. Huh, it was in this country, on the coast, maybe an island?

I began to look it up, I can't seem the find the name of the island, maybe I need to search harder. Soon I found it, it was a technology powerhouse, called Griffin Rock. Seems like they had alot of scientist and was on the forefront of technology development in the country. I guess they tried to keep the media out to protect the scientists. Maybe Sire was going there to keep an eye, Decepticons would not turn their backs on technology if it could help them.

"Hey Starry!" Sides called as I heard him and Sunny driving in.

"Sunny, Sides!" I chimed, as they pulled in and transformed.

"What you up to cutie?" Sides cooed scooping me up.

"Sorry we've been gone a lot; Optimus wants us to patrol more." Sunny apologized, I smiled at him.

"It's okay," I replied, he looked at the screen.

"Hey, it's that place Optimus been going to lately." Sunny stated, I light up.

"Do you know why?" I asked, he shook his helm.

"No, but I bet Ratchet knows." Sunny stated, I guess I can ask him later.

"Where is Hatchet, usually he's doing work in here?" Sides said.

"He's working on repairs, delicate work so he told me to stay away so he could do it," I explained, Sides put me up on his shoulders.

"It'll soon be time for the humans to come, maybe you can watch something with them when they get here?" Sides chimed, I smiled.

"Yeah, Raf and I are watching this show about human rescue workers, it's a lot of fun!" I rambled, "Did Cybertron have anything like that?"

"Actually, we did, most are MIA right now, but we called them Rescue Bots, they were in charge of search, rescue and other things. Last I heard of them they were sent out to find Cybertronians out in space. Our old sitter was one, remember we told you about him." Sunny explained.

"The one that would tell you stories?" I said, he nodded. "Wow, you told me he was super nice."

"He was, kinda a scaredy bot too, he's actually First Aid's brother. They were Combiners, kinda like me and Sides but with five of them. One of them got permanently damaged on a job so they all went different ways. Two were in the military, First-Aid became a medic, Blades and another stayed with the Rescue Bots." Sunny elaborated.

"I think I read about Combiners; they can transform into a giant bot right?" I quizzed.

"Yep, their big form was called Defensor they were nicknamed the Protecto-bots. Defensor was huge like five Optimus's tall." Sides added.

"Wow! That's so cool!" I exclaimed.

"I bet Optimus knows more stuff about them, we only know what Blades told us when we were your age. He said on-time Defensor held up a fort after a bombing while it was evacuated." Sunny told, wow that is so cool.

"I wonder if they are still out there looking for bots to save." I mused, Sunny chuckled.

"I bet; Blades always used to tell us that a true Rescue Bots never gives up." He chimed, I smiled bigger.

"So cool…"
