"Here we go." Scott said, getting comfortable. He placed an arm around Malia bringing her in closer. She placed a kiss on his neck before snuggling in.
Scott was braced to see everything again from the outside looking in. He struggled remembering how stupid and naïve he had been. So many times, he wished he could go back in time and change things, now he was getting the chance. But it still did not want to see it.
Malia just wanted to understand what all had happened before she was human. She knew the stories, having heard them from Lydia, Stiles, and Scott, but to see it first hand was going to be different. She was also curious about Peter and what he had been like back then. Again, she heard the stories, but she still hoped it hadn't been as bad as everyone made it sound. Her feelings for Peter were still mixed even to this day. To be in the same room with him again, and to see how he was back then, she wasn't sure she would like it. But he was still her dad and he died protecting her.
Allison studiously ignores them as much as she can. All the while she wondered what happened to her after the kanima incident. She knew that she was the one to end things with Scott, but she remembered his words to her when she did, that they would find a way back to each other. She always thought that was true but seeing him with Malia had her feeling conflicted about what happened and why they were not together again.
Lydia cozied up to Stiles and Jackson looked on in confusion. He had known about Stiles crush on her but never thought anything would come of it. Especially since, in his timeline, he and her were still dating. It was unsettling for him to think that he still wasn't doing so. He wondered what could have happened to change that. He really could care less about the show but apparently he played an important role in it. Maybe he ended up being the hero. Yes, that sounded right to him.
Lydia was looking forward to and dreading what all would be shown. She was a part of most of it and she wasn't happy about how she had been before Peter attacked her. She definitely wasn't looking forward to how she treated Stiles before she realized her feelings for him. So much wasted time and she regretted it.
Stiles was nervous about what would be shown. He was actually scared of one part of all this, his part, when he was possessed. He still had a hard time thinking about all that had happened during that time, especially since he could remember it all with perfect clarity. He still fought the guilt that he experienced at having a hand in it, especially Allison's death.
Alec watched excitedly as the show started. He had always been curious about Scott and the gang. Wanting to know what led to them discovering him. He was also very curious about Jackson before he knew him. He couldn't imagine him being that bad since he was only slightly a dick where he came from, but he was always there for him when he needed support. He also couldn't wait to see Ethan from back then. He wondered how long it would be before he entered the picture.
Liam and Mason shared a glance, wondering what exactly was going on and why they were involved. Corey, knowing some of what was happening, or happened, was throwing longing glances at his future boyfriend.
Cora was indifferent. She was curious to know what all happened before she came back but she had been happy with her life before coming here. She had found a semblance of a family, not to replace the one she lost but they were still there for her.
Peter dreaded what was going to be shown. He had a feeling he would not be seen in a positive light, and he wondered what the future entailed that would cause this kind of intervention. Would he be a part of it or would is actions truly cause his death, permanently this time.
Derek, with his signature scowl on his face, stared everyone down before turning to the screen. He was still tense, being in the same room as a hunter, one that was responsible for his families death. Yet, he was still curious as to what was going to happen and wondered what part he played in it all.
Noah and Melissa had a hard time taking their eyes off their kids. They couldn't get over the changes they were seeing. Technically they still looked like themselves but there was a hardness there that they weren't used to seeing and the haunted look in their eyes let both parents know that they kids had not had an easy time of things in the last 3 years. They were worried about what they had been through and hoped that, if all this were real, they would be able to change things or at least offer them more help.
Chris warily looked around at everyone not trusting a soul in the room, except his daughter. He especially did not trust anyone with the name Hale. Being a hunter, without any weapons, in a room with shifters did not sit well with him. He only cared enough about what was going to be shown so that he could see exactly what it had to do with him and his daughter. And he wondered why Victoria wasn't there. Shouldn't she be? He feared he knew what that meant but didn't want to jump to conclusions.
Talia and Deaton shared a commiserating looking, knowing that just from this first episode that everyone would not be happy. They knew this journey would be filled with anger, distrust, horror and, hopefully later on, relief that things would work out. Having seen what the future SHOULD have been, they had high hopes that this group could change things for the better. But only time would tell. They hoped their sacrifice wouldn't be in vain.
A dozen officers get out of their vehicles, some with K9 unit dogs, and begin their search in the woods.
Scene cuts to a kid sitting on his bed, as he re-threads the laces on his lacrosse stick. Tossing hist stick on his bed he heads towards his bathroom door to do a series of chin ups on a bar he has mounted before brushing his teeth and washing his face that we suddenly see in the mirror.
"Scott!" five people yell out at once after seeing the face reflected.
"Wait, is this whole thing focused on Scott?" Liam asked, looking from the screen to the Scott sitting near him.
"Yes, this show focuses on Scott's journey, with a few other povs thrown in." Deaton answers with a smile.
"Why?" He asked.
"You will see. Just keep watching."
"Oh man, so this is your story?" Alec asked excitedly.
"Yep, you wanted to know what I went through. Well, here's your chance." Scott smiled at him, throwing a quick glance in Liam's direction.
Everyone but Scott's group, Deaton and Talia looked confused and surprised.
Scott hears a noise outside. The scene cuts to the front porch, where Scott walks outside with a wooden baseball bat in hand as he investigates. Suddenly, a figure appears hanging from the roof, and Scott yelps, almost hitting the person in the face.
SCOTT & STILES: AHH! AHHH! AHHHH!
"Stiles!" more shouting.
"Stiles, what the hell areyou doing?" Noah asked, rolling his eyes at his son.
"Trying not to get beat with a bat, apparently." Stiles answers, smiling.
"How long have you two been friends?" Alec asked.
"Uh…." Both boys try to think back to when they first met.
"Since they were about 4 years old." Melissa smiled. "They met at the park in the sand box."
Both Scott and Stiles blushed at the snickers but smiled at each other.
SCOTT: Stiles, what the hell are you doing?!
STILES: You weren't answering your phone! Why do you have a bat?
SCOTT: I thought you were a predator!
STILES: A pre... Wha?... Look, I know it's late, but you gotta hear this. I saw my dad leave twenty minutes ago. Dispatch called- they're bringing in every officer from the Beacon Department, and even state police.
SCOTT: For what?
STILES: Two joggers found a body in the woods.
SCOTT: What, a dead body?
STILES: No, a body of water. Yes, dumbass, a dead body!
The laughter that followed made Scott roll his eyes.
"I forgot how sarcastic you could be." Scott sighed.
"I will have to correct that issue." Stiles said nodding as if it were a challenge. Lydia laughed loudly, whispering something in his ear that had him grinning widely. Jackson looked at them in surprise.
"So, you two are together?" Jackson asked. Stiles rolled his eyes and Lydia nodded. Noah smiled happily at his son. He knows how long he has liked Lydia. He's happy to see that they finally got together.
SCOTT: You mean, like, murdered?
STILES: Nobody knows yet. Just that it was a girl, probably in her twenties.
SCOTT: Hold on, if they found the body, then what are they looking for?
Stiles giggled, barely able to stand still as he explained.
STILES: That's the best part- they only found half… We're going.
"Is that a good idea?" Mason asked.
"No." several people said at once. Melissa and Noah both glaring at their kids. Scott and Stiles shrugged sheepishly.
"It's not, but that was Stiles and Scott back then." Lydia explained with a sigh.
Scene cuts to Stiles leading the way through the woods with a flashlight in hand. Scott follows, hurrying to keep up with him.
SCOTT: We're seriously doing this?
STILES: You're the one always bitching that nothing ever happens in this town.
SCOTT: I was trying to get a good night's sleep before practice tomorrow.
STILES: Right, 'cause sitting on the bench is such a grueling effort.
SCOTT: No, because I'm playing this year. In fact, I'm making first line.
STILES: Hey, that's the spirit! Everyone should have a dream, even a pathetically unrealistic one.
Jackson barks a laugh at that, smirking cockily in Scott's direction, which he pointedly ignores. Malia doesn't as she glares back at him, forcing him to look away.
SCOTT: Just out of curiosity, which half of the body are we looking for?
STILES: Huh! I didn't even think about that.
SCOTT: And, uh... what if whoever killed the body is still out here?
STILES: Also something I didn't think about.
SCOTT: It's comforting to know you've planned this out with your usual attention to detail.
STILES: I know.
"I am so glad our plans got better as time went on." Scott said, Stiles nodded along. Lydia and Malia, and even Allison, threw them both incredulous looks.
"Are you sure about that?" Malia asked.
"It was one time!" Stiles argued. Lydia tutted in disagreement. The boys sighed and went back to watching the show. Everyone else was curious as to what they were talking about though Deaton just laughed shaking his head.
SCOTT: Maybe the severe asthmatic should be the one holding the flashlight, huh?
Scott leans his back against a nearby tree as he pulls his inhaler out of his pocket. Stiles keeps pushing on, Scott continues to make his way up the hill after him.
"Wait, you had asthma?" Alec asked.
"Back then, yep. It kind of just went away after that night." Scott answered, shrugging.
"Come to think of it, I haven't seen you with your inhaler for a couple of days." Melissa mused, watching her son.
SCOTT: Wait!
STILES: Come on!
Scott, still wheezing, tries to stop Stiles.
"Do you think it wise to make the asthmatic run to keep up with you?" Lydia asked her boyfriend with an arched brow.
"I was excited, I wasn't really thinking about that." He explained. she rolled her eyes and shook her head.
SCOTT: Stiles! Wait up! … Stiles! Stiles!
Stiles turns to Scott when he finally hears the last attempt to call his name only to whirl back around faced with K9 officer who starts barking at him, he falls backwards onto the ground.
DEPUTY: Hold it right there!
Scott hides behind a nearby tree
STILINSKI: Hang on, hang on...This little delinquent belongs to me.
"Wait, this just happened not two days ago." Noah says, squinting at the screen. "How…"
Talia and Deaton just smile at him.
STILES: Dad, how are you doing?
STILINSKI: So, do you, uh, listen in to all of my phone calls?
STILES: No. Heh...Not the boring ones.
Snorts happen all around. Noah shakes his head, sighing in exasperation at his son.
"I'm removing that scanner from your jeep." He told his soon who jerked.
"What? No, you can't. How will I know what's going on?"
"That's the point Stiles."
Stiles slumped down, pouting.
STILINSKI: Now, where's your usual partner in crime?
STILES: Who, Scott? Scott's home. He said he wanted to get a good night's sleep for first day back at school tomorrow… It's just me... In the woods... Alone...
"You do realize how stupid that sounds, right?" Malia asked, leaning around Scott to look at Stiles.
"Well, after I said it I did. I was thinking on my feet, give me a break." He defends causing laughter all around.
Not believing him, Stilinski shines his flashlight into the woods.
STILINSKI: Scott, you out there? Scott?
Scott continues to hide, hoping he's not discovered. Stilinski sighs before grabbing Stiles and steering him toward the entrance to the preserve.
STILINSKI: Well, young man, I'm gonna walk you back to your car... And then you and I are gonna have a conversation about something called "invasion of privacy."
"Wouldn't it have been better to just be found so you weren't stuck alone in the woods?" Cora asked.
"Probably." Scott shrugs. "But I was more worried about being caught and him telling my mom."
Melissa sighs, shaking her head.
"Where was your mom?"
"I had an overnight shift at the hospital 2 nights ago." Melissa answered.
"What is it you do?" Argent asked.
"I'm an RN at Beacon Memorial."
He nodded.
Scott waits until the coast is clear before heading in the opposite direction through the woods. He pulls his inhaler out of his hoodie and shakes it, a herd of deer begin frantically stampeding toward him, trampling him over.
Once the deer have cleared out, Scott gets to his feet and starts looking for his inhaler using his cell phone as a light source. He's startled when he uncovers the top half of the body that Stiles had told him about. He loses his balance and tumbles down the hill behind him and into a ravine.
"Way to stay on your feet there, McCall." Jackson snarked, laughing.
"I'd like to see your reaction to finding half of a body." Scott muttered, otherwise ignoring him.
Scott stands to his feet with a groan. He makes his way quickly through the woods, when a growl heard behind him causes him to freeze. He turns to find a large, bestial wolf with glowing red eyes standing before him. The beast leaps toward him, causing him to fall backward onto the ground. The wolf grabs him and biting him.
SCOTT: AHHHHH!
"Oh God, Scott. Why didn't you tell me?" Melissa exclaimed, worried, and scared for her son. Argent squinted at Scott, knowing exactly what just happened.
"Again, the whole getting caught thing. It was stupid but I was 16." He sighed. "I was fine mom. I promise. It hurt that night but wasn't so bad the next morning. I cleaned it and bandaged it up just like you taught me."
"I so want to ground you for that but it's in the past, well your past, technically."
Scott scrambles through the woods, tripping and tumbling all the way. He is almost hit by someone driving a burgundy SUV, who manages to swerve away from him just in the nick of time.
"Wait, burgundy SUV?" Allison says looking at Scott. He smirks.
"Yeah, that was you and your mom. I find that out a bit later on."
Finally, more or less safe, Scott takes a moment to lift the hem of his hoodie up, examining the large bite wound on his hip. A loud wolf howl is heard from in the woods.
"Oh, that looks really bad." Lydia said.
"Yeah, it was. But by the end of the next day, it was completely healed." Scott chuckled.
"What? How is that possible?" Liam asked.
"You'll see." he smiled at him.
The next morning, Scott is riding his mountain bike through the school parking lot just as Jackson Whittemore, driving a silver Porsche, pulls into the parking spot next to him, hitting Scott in the back with the door.
JACKSON: Dude! Watch the paint job.
"Jerk." Several people muttered at once. Jackson looked offended but rolled his eyes.
RANDOM GUY: Yo, Jackson! Let's go, bro.
The scene cuts to the front of the school, where Scott has met up with Stiles.
STILES: Okay, let's see this thing.
Scott lefts up his shirt to show Stiles his bite wound.
STILES: Ooh!
SCOTT: Yeah...
Stiles pokes the bandage, which causes Scott to flinch in pain.
STILES: Whoa!
SCOTT: It was too dark to see much, but I'm pretty sure it was a wolf.
STILES: A wolf bit you?
SCOTT: Uh-huh.
STILES: No, not a chance.
SCOTT: I heard a wolf howling.
STILES: No, you didn't.
SCOTT: What do you mean, "No, I didn't?" How do you know what I heard?
STILES: Because California doesn't have wolves, okay? Not in, like, sixty years.
"You know the most random facts. I swear." Lydia commented shaking her head.
"It's part of my charm." He smiles winningly at her, which she rewards with a kiss.
SCOTT: Really?
STILES: Yes, really. There are no wolves in California.
SCOTT: All right. Well, if you don't believe me about the wolf, then you're definitely not gonna believe me about when I tell you I found the body.
Stiles' demeanor instantly changes from exasperation to gleeful at the sound of this news.
"What is your fascination with death?" Malia asked.
"I'm not fascinated with death. But, up to that point living in Beacon Hills was boring and monotonous. It was the fact that something interesting finally happened that fascinated me." Stiles explained.
"Yeah, and now everything we do is fascinating." Lydia huffed.
"Fascinating, grueling, traumatizing… I could go on." Scott said. Malia, Stiles, and Lydia all nodded solemnly.
"What do you mean? What has happened?" Noah asked.
"I know this is going to sound annoying, but I'm pretty sure its also going to be the theme of these shows. I can only tell you to keep watching and you will see." Scott answered.
Everyone looked like they wanted to push for an answer but stopped themselves.
STILES: You- are you kidding me?
SCOTT: No, man, I wish. I'm gonna have nightmares for a month.
STILES: Oh, god, that is freakin' awesome. I mean, this is seriously gonna be the best thing that's happened to this town since… Since the birth of Lydia Martin. Hey, Lydia! You look-
Lydia continues to walk right past Stiles.
STILES: -Like you're gonna ignore me...
Everyone laughs and Stiles pouts. Lydia giggled, snuggling closer.
"If I had known then, what I know now, I wouldn't have just walked by you." she told him.
"You were worth the wait." He said, kissing the top of her head.
Jackson rolled his eyes at the two of them, thinking she never once looked at him like that when they were dating.
STILES: You're the cause of this, you know.
SCOTT: Uh-huh.
STILES: Draggin' me down to your nerd depths. I'm a nerd by association. I've been Scarlet-nerded by you.
Scott scoffs.
Scott and Stiles enter their first period English class and take their seats.
MR. CURTIS: As you all know, there indeed was a body found in the woods last night. And I am sure your eager little minds are coming up with various macabre scenarios as to what happened. But I am here to tell you that the police have a suspect in custody, which means you can give your undivided attention to the syllabus, which is on your desk outlining this semester.
Scott hears a phone ring. He looks around the room, he sees no one else reacting to the noise. The sound of a female voice draws his attention to the row of windows to his left.
ALLISON: Mom, three calls on my first day is a little overdoing it… Everything except a pen. Oh, my God, I didn't actually forget a pen. Okay, okay. I gotta go. Love ya.
"So that's how you knew I needed a pen." Allison says, nodding in understanding. Scot smiled and nodded.
Scott continues to eavesdrop as the vice principal of the school comes out to greet her.
VICE PRINCIPAL: Sorry to keep you waiting. So, you were saying San Francisco isn't where you grew up?
ALLISON: No, but we lived there for more than a year, which is unusual in my family.
"Why did you guys move so much?" Mason asked looking over at Allison and her father.
"My work takes us to a lot of different places." Argent answered vaguely.
"What is it that you do?" Noah asked.
"I'm a licensed arms dealer for the government." Argent answers. Both Derek and Peter snort but add nothing.
VICE PRINCIPAL: Well, hopefully Beacon Hills will be your last stop for a while.
Scott looked over at Allison and gave a sad smile, knowing that yes, Beacon Hills would be her last stop.
VICE PRINCIPAL: Class, this is our new student, Allison Argent. Please do your best to make her feel welcome.
Allison smiles weakly before finding the only open seat in the class. Scott, having heard her conversation with her mother earlier, offers her one of his own.
ALLISON: Thanks.
"You still get that dopey look on your face sometimes." Malia said.
"Whenever you're around. How could I not." He told her with a sweet smile. Malia melted at the words and placed a chaste kiss on his lips. Allison pretended not to notice.
TEACHER: We'll begin with Kafka's Metamorphosis on page one-thirty-three.
Scott's locker is across the hallway and several meters down from Allison's, and when Scott catches her eye, Allison smiles at him. Just then, Lydia approaches Allison and strikes up a conversation.
LYDIA: That jacket is absolutely killer. Where'd you get it?
ALLISON: My mom was a buyer for a boutique back in San Francisco.
LYDIA: And you are my new best friend.
Jackson, Lydia's boyfriend, joins them.
JACKSON: Heyyy.
LYDIA: Hey, Jackson.
Harley, a friend of Scott and Stiles approaches them.
HARLEY: Can someone tell me how New Girl is here all of five minutes, and she's already hanging out with Lydia's clique?
STILES: Because she's hot. Beautiful people herd together.
LYDIA: So, this weekend, there's a party.
ALLISON: A party?
JACKSON: Yeah, Friday night. You should come.
ALLISON: Uh, I can't. It's family night this Friday. Thanks for asking.
"Family night?" Argent turned to her. Allison shrugged, blushing.
JACKSON: You sure? Everyone's going after the scrimmage.
ALLISON: You mean like football?
JACKSON: Football's a joke in Beacon. The sport here is lacrosse. We've won the state championship for the past three years.
LYDIA: Because of a certain team captain...
Stiles rolled his eyes and Jackson grinned, smugly. Scott leaned over and whispered something in Stiles' ear and he and Malia cracked up.
JACKSON: Well, we have practice in a few minutes. That is, if you don't have anywhere else-
ALLISON: Well, I was going to-
LYDIA: Perfect! You're coming.
"Bossy, little thing. Isn't she?" Cora commented.
"She still is." Scott, Malia, and Stiles all said at once. Lydia snorted, taking no offense. She knew she was.
The lacrosse team has gathered on the lacrosse field.
STILES: But if you play, I'll have no one to talk to on the bench. Are you really gonna do that to your best friend?
SCOTT: I can't sit out again. My whole life is sitting on the sidelines.
Scott snorted, shaking his head. If only he had known what he had before then.
SCOTT: This season, I make first line.
Scott looks up into the bleachers. Allison smiles at him.
COACH: McCall!
SCOTT: Yeah?
COACH: You're on goal.
SCOTT: I've never played...
COACH: I know- scoring some shots will give the boys a confidence boost. It's a first day-back thing… Get 'em energized! Fired up!
"So, what? He just wants you to be the punching bag. That's kind of cruel." Melissa said, crossing her arms.
SCOTT: ...What about me?
COACH: Try not to take any in the face.
Melissa huffed as she watches.
COACH: Let's go! Come on!
[In the stands, Lydia looks at Scott curiously, as though she had never noticed him before, and Allison is staring at him as well. Scott reluctantly takes his place in the goal and prepares for practice to start. Just then, his superhuman hearing kicks in once again, allowing him to listen in on Allison and Lydia's conversation]
ALLISON: Who is that?
[Allison jerks her head in Scott's direction]
LYDIA: Him? I'm not sure who he is. Why?
[Scott cocks his head in confusion as he stares at them, but they don't seem to notice. Allison smiles in response to Lydia's question]
ALLISON: He's in my English class.
[Unfortunately for Scott, the fact that he's distracted and his extra-sensitive ears cause him to flinch and cover his ears in pain when the assistant coach blows the whistle to start the practice. This makes him a prime target for Jackson, who takes a shot at the goal while Scott is still recovering. The ball hits him right in the front of his helmet with so much force that he's knocked backwards onto the ground. Coach Finstock, Jackson, and the rest of the team members immediately start laughing and making fun of him]
Jackson cracks up and Scott had to get a tight grip on Malia to keep her from attacking him, but he couldn't stop her from growling.
"Ignore him, that's what we use to do." Scott told her.
JACKSON: Hey, way to catch with your face, McCall!
[Scott, now determined to prove himself, stands to his feet and shakes out his shoulders in preparation for the next shot. The next player tosses the ball towards him, and Scott catches it easily, to the point where he's visibly stunned that he was able to do so. This sentiment is shared by all the rest of the teammates, Stiles included, who then cheers happily for his friend]
STILES: Yeah!
[The second, third, fourth, and fifth shots are caught by Scott just as easily, and Coach Finstock simply stares at Scott with his mouth open as though he can't believe what he's seeing. Allison smiles when she sees Scott's performance, and even Lydia is clearly impressed by what she sees. Scott's hearing once again picks up on their conversation while he gets ready for the next shot]
ALLISON: He seems like he's pretty good.
[For once, Lydia isn't putting on her mean-girl act or pretending to be someone she's not when she replies to Allison's statement]
LYDIA: Yeah, very good.
[Scott is practically giddy as he bounces on the balls of his feet and smiles, which only makes Jackson more angry. Intent to take Scott down a peg so that he's back in the spotlight, he slams the top of his stick against the player who was set to practice his goals and ditches him in line. Scott tenses when he sees this and prepares for the worst]
SCOTT: Oh, God...
[Jackson runs as fast as he can toward the goal and tosses the ball with all the force he can muster, but to Scott, the ball seems to be moving in slow-motion, allowing him to catch it without hesitation. Both Stiles and Lydia stand to their feet to cheer Scott on, much to Scott's surprise]
STILES: YEAH!
LYDIA: WOOOO!
STILES: THAT'S MY FRIEND!
[Jackson is appalled by the fact that Scott got one over on him, and Lydia gives Jackson a very pointed look, as if to say, "Is that all you've got?" This does nothing but make Jackson more furious with Scott for taking his glory as the best player on the team. Allison watches Scott with interest as he throws a back-shot at the assistant coach, who just barely catches it with his own stick]
"Why were you so mad? You were on the same team. Shouldn't you want your teammates to be good, so you don't all have to do all the work yourself?" Liam asked, looking at Jackson. Jackson quietly fumed ignoring the question.
"Yeah, Jackson wasn't really big on teamwork back then." Stiles informed him. "He was the star player up to that point. He didn't want anymore to steal the spotlight, which Scott did with finesse."
"Until Liam got on the team. Then I kind of understood how Jackson felt. But we learned to combine our skills, so it worked out." Scott added.
"Wait, we're on the same team?" Liam asked.
"Yeah, you're starting this year, well in your time, remember?" Scott reminded him.
"Yeah, but I haven't decided whether I would try out yet or not. There's some… issues surrounding that." Liam admitted, self-consciously. Mason gave Liam a soft smile and a pat on the shoulder.
"You learned to control that and became one of the best players on the team. You'll see." Scott told him. Liam blinked but nodded.
[Scott and Stiles have just crossed the creek in the nature preserve as they attempt to find both the top half of the body Scott found the night before as well as the inhaler he dropped in the process. The two are talking about the day's practice as their feet get wet in the water]
SCOTT: I-I don't know what it was. It was like I had all the time in the world to catch the ball. And that's not the only weird thing. I-I can hear stuff I shouldn't be able to hear. Smell things.
STILES: Smell things? Like what?
SCOTT: Like the mint mojito gum in your pocket.
[Stiles makes a face as though he thinks Scott is crazy]
STILES: I don't even have any mint mojito-
[Stiles checks the inner breast pocket of his blazer and finds, much to his surprise, that there is a single piece of folded-up mint mojito gum, just as Scott sensed. Scott raises both of his arms to the side as if to say, "I told you so." Stiles considers this for a moment before he continues]
STILES: So all this started with the bite?
[Stiles seems to find this intriguing, while Scott, ever the nurse's son, is concerned that something is wrong with him]
SCOTT: What if it's like an infection? Like, my body's flooding with adrenaline before I go into shock or something?
[Stiles gets a small smirk on his face before trying to make himself look as serious as possible, which Scott, who is walking in front of him, doesn't catch]
STILES: You know what? I actually think I've heard of this- it's a specific kind of infection.
SCOTT: Are you serious?
STILES: Yeah. Yeah, I think it's called lycanthropy.
[Scott, still not realizing that Stiles is messing with him, starts to panic]
SCOTT: What's that? Is that bad?
Every shifter in the room snorted at Scott's naivete and Stiles' teasing.
STILES: Oh, yeah, it's the worst. But only once a month.
SCOTT: Once a month?
STILES: Mm-hmm. On the night of the full moon. Aroooo!
[Stiles fake-howls like a wolf, and Scott, annoyed, shoves him away, causing Stiles to giggle in amusement]
STILES: Hey, you're the one who heard a wolf howling!
SCOTT: Hey, there could be something seriously wrong with me!
STILES: I know! You're a Werewolf! Rawrrr!
Scott and Stiles share a smile that is caught by both Noah and Melissa, and they start to wonder. Argent just nods knowing that he's right.
[Scott is clearly not impressed by this joke, and Stiles' demeanor becomes serious]
STILES: Okay, obviously I'm kidding. But, if you see me in shop class trying to melt all the silver I can find, it's 'cause Friday's a full moon.
[Scott stops walking and looks around, frowning when he doesn't see anything remarkable where they're standing]
SCOTT: No, I-I could have sworn this was it. I saw the body, the deer came running. I dropped my inhaler...
STILES: Maybe the killer moved the body?
SCOTT: If he did, I hope he left my inhaler. Those things are, like, eighty bucks.
Laughter all around while Melissa just shook her head. Thinking about the cost to replace it.
[Scott and Stiles are still looking around when suddenly, a man in his early twenties with pale skin, black hair, a black leather jacket, and a scowl appears in front of them]
Cora and Derek perk up seeing him for the first time.
"It's really weird seeing you without the facial hair." Cora commented.
"I had facial hair?' Derek questioned. Almost everyone nodded.
DEREK: What are you doing here?
[When Scott and Stiles, both of whom are visibly panicking, don't respond, the man's tone gets even gruffer]
DEREK: Huh? This is private property.
"Geez, no need to act like such an asshole about it." Mason muttered. Derek's eye snapped to him but he said not.
"That was pretty much is M-O back then." Stiles said.
"Yeah, but he had his reasons, so I get it now." Scott added. Derek looked at him with crinkled brow, wondering what he meant.
STILES: Uh, sorry, man, we didn't know.
[Derek's attention is focused on Scott, who picks up where Stiles left off to try to relieve the tension]
SCOTT: Yeah, we were just looking for something, but... Uh, forget it.
[Suddenly, Derek tosses Scott's inhaler at him before turning and heading back the way he came without a word, giving Scott one last look and seemingly paying Stiles no attention whatsoever. Scott sighs and gets ready to turn back the opposite direction]
SCOTT: Um... All right, come on, I gotta get to work.
[Before Scott can move, Stiles holds him his hand to physically stop him from walking away]
STILES: Dude, that was Derek Hale… You remember, right? He's only like a few years older than us.
SCOTT: Remember what?
STILES: His family. They all burned to death in a fire, like, ten years ago.
Everyone looked at Derek, but he didn't look at any of them. Peter hung his head and Cora just looked sadly at the screen.
SCOTT: I wonder what he's doing back...
STILES: Come on.
[Stiles finally turns back, and Scott, still looking toward where Derek headed out, slowly follows behind him]
[Night has fallen, and another thunderstorm has just started up as Scott walks to the front entrance of the animal clinic where he works as a veterinary technician. He looks outside with a concerned expression before locking the door and turning the sign on the door so it reads "CLOSED" instead of "OPEN"]
[In the employee bathroom, Scott has just set a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and some bandages on the shelf above the sink before lifting his shirt to change his dressing. However, when he peels away the tape and bloody gauze covering the bite he sustained the previous evening, he is stunned to find that it has already miraculously healed in less than one full day, with no scar or any mark whatsoever to indicate he had been injured at all. Scott gapes at himself in the reflection of the mirror for a moment while he ponders this situation]
"That's not possible." Melissa said shaking her head, even though she was beginning to suspect she didn't want to believe it. Though, Chris nodded and took a full study of Scott, who met his stare head on.
[Shrugging off the strange healing of his wounds, he gets back to work.
SCOTT: Hey, kitties.
[Suddenly, the cats get extremely stirred up and start growling, meowing, and pawing at the cages. Scott is so overwhelmed by the bizarre situations that keep happening to him that he hurries quickly out of the cat clinic before any of the boarders can hurt themselves or him]
"I forgot about that. I never did understand why that happened. It was the only time. I never had issues with them after that day." Scott said, thinking.
"You were still coming into your own at that moment. Once you started to learn to control things it was less imposing on cats." Deaton explained.
Only a few people understood what that meant.
[Scott is just about to close up the clinic for the night when he senses something outside. Just then, a soaking wet Allison appears at the front door, crying and frantically pounding on the door with her fist. He unlocks and opens the front door before greeting her awkwardly.]
SCOTT: Hi...
ALLISON: I didn't see it. I took my eyes off the road for, like, two seconds to change the song on my iPod, and then this dog, it just came out of nowhere!
[Scott, who is listening to Allison intently, immediately tries to calm her down to get more information]
SCOTT: It's all right. It's all right. It's all right. It's all right. Do you remember where it happened, so I can send Animal Control to find it?
ALLISON: No! I mean, yes, I know where I hit it, but the dog is-
SCOTT: Where is it?
ALLISON: It's in my car.
[Scott follows Allison out into the pouring rain. The dog instantly starts growling at them, scaring Allison and causing her to jump backward. Scott, concerned, grabs her by the shoulders to steady her]
SCOTT: You okay?
[Allison nods]
SCOTT: She's just frightened.
ALLISON: That makes two of us.
SCOTT: Let me see if I have any better luck.
[Scott looks at the dog, maintaining eye contact and a stern look, which seems to instinctively trigger his newly-gained animal instincts. Suddenly, his irises glow bright gold.]
"What the hell was that?" Melissa asked, sitting up straight. No one answered just continued watching the show.
[Inside the clinic, Scott and Allison have brought the dog to the exam room, where Scott is checking the dog out for injuries]
SCOTT: I think her leg is broken. I've seen the doctor do plenty of splints. I can do it myself and then give her a painkiller for now.
[Allison nods and Scott notices that she's shivering]
SCOTT: I have another shirt in my bag...
ALLISON: Oh, I don't want to trouble you.
[Scott grabs the shirt and hands it to her]
SCOTT: Here.
[Allison takes the shirt and goes into the other room to change. Scott catches a glimpse of Allison's bare back after she takes her shirt off, and the dog makes a harrumphing noise and sits up to give him a look, as though she's judging him.]
SCOTT: What? I didn't see anything.
Argent glared at him, while Allison went pink with a small smile on her face and everyone else laughed.
[Allison returns, looking slightly embarrassed]
ALLISON: Thanks for doing this. I feel really stupid.
SCOTT: How come?
ALLISON: I don't know... 'Cause I freaked out like a total girl.
SCOTT: ...You are a girl...
ALLISON: I freaked out like a girly-girl, and I'm not a girly-girl.
SCOTT: What kind of girl are you?
ALLISON: Tougher than that. At least, I thought I was.
SCOTT: Hey, I'd be freaked out too. In fact, I'd probably cry. And not like a man, either. Like the biggest girly-girl ever. It'd be pathetic.
ALLISON: Yeah, right...
[Scott looks down at the dog, whose arm now has a yellow splint that Scott seems to have doodled on in the interim, and starts petting her comfortingly]
SCOTT: So... It looks like she's gonna live. And I'm pretty sure she'll even let you pet her now, if you want.
ALLISON: I don't think so.
[Scott smiles mischievously
SCOTT: Oh, come on. You don't want her to sue. I hear this breed is very litigious.
[Allison slowly reaches out and pets the dog along her side
SCOTT: You see? She likes you.
[Scott and Allison stare at each other for a long moment before Allison looks confused]
ALLISON: What?
[Scott looks away]
SCOTT: Uh. Sorry. You have an eyelash on your cheek.
ALLISON: Oh... from the crying.
[Allison wipes at her face to try to get it off but misses it, so Scott reaches out and gently brushes the eyelash off of her left cheekbone. Allison smiles]
A course of awws went up from every woman there while the guys just rolled their eyes.
ALLISON: Thanks.
SCOTT: Yeah.
[Scott walked Allison out to her car. Scott looks nervous as Allison opens the driver's side door, stammering as he tries to summon the nerve to ask her out]
SCOTT: So, um... I was wondering... I mean... Is it really family night on Friday, or do you think maybe you'd like to go to that party with me?
[Allison smiles when she realizes that she got called out on her fib from earlier]
ALLISON: Family night was a total lie.
SCOTT: So, is that a yes? You'll go?
ALLISON: Definitely yes.
"Oh, this is too cute." Lydia squealed, giggling. Even Malia nodded at how awkward and sweet it was, even as she snuggled up closer to her boyfriend.
[At the MCCALL HOUSE, he strips out of his wet clothes and flops down on his bed, still smiling in the afterglow of his interaction with Allison. Once he falls asleep, he flips from laying on his back to laying on his stomach, only to find that it is now day time and he's lying on a pile of leaves in a coyote den in the BEACON HILLS PRESERVE]
"Were you in my den?" Malia asked suddenly. Eyebrows went up all around, except the few who already knew what she was.
"Huh… I don't know. I want to say I don't think so but that was the first and only time that ever happened. My sense of smell hadn't really developed yet and even if it had I wouldn't be able to tell if it was you or not." He shrugged.
"This was about 3 years ago, right? I think you were. I mean I can't recall completely but it did smell a bit differently and I had to move to another one." She mused, nodding.
Scott smiled, and leaned in to give her a kiss, loving the thought that even back then he had some kind of connection to her.
"Wait, hold on. What do you mean your den? And what sense of smell? Are you… are you guys..?" Noah asked looking between the two of them. Everyone else was paying close attention, except Peter, Talia, Deaton, Allison, and Scott's group.
"Just keep watching dad, it will all be explained, sort of." Stiles told him.
[Once Scott gets out of the den, he sees the bestial wolf who bit him, and starts running as fast as he can to evade him. He eventually jumps over a fence into a body of water, which causes him to frantically twist around until he realizes that he jumped into a neighbor's swimming pool, and that the neighbor in question is in the backyard, staring at him incredulously. Knowing that he has no good explanation for why he's in the man's pool in his boxers, Scott goes the polite route]
SCOTT: Good morning!
Everyone cracks up and even Scott smiles, shaking his head.
[The scene cuts to the high school, where Scott has just changed into his lacrosse gear in preparation for the final day of try-outs. He had just put his backpack into his locker when suddenly, Jackson appears]
JACKSON: All right, little man. How 'bout you tell me where you're getting your juice.
SCOTT: What?
JACKSON: Where. Are. You. Getting. Your. Juice?
[Scott blinks earnestly, still not understanding the question]
SCOTT: My mom does all the grocery shopping.
Snickers can be heard all around as Scott starts to turn red.
"You were so innocent. Even I know what he's talking about." Malia told him.
"I know. That really wasn't the first place my mind went when he said that. I just wondered why he was asking me about fruit juice." Scott snorted.
"So, I'm confused. Like, why did yo automatically go to steroids?" Alec asked Jackson.
"Because he wasn't that good before." Jackson shrugged.
"But if you hadn't seen him all summer, why couldn't he have just practiced and gotten better. Why did he have to be using?"
Jackson didn't respond, instead huffing and crossing his arms.
"Were you looking to buy? Is that how you're so good?" Liam asked.
"What? Of course not. I've never used drugs." Jackson said, outraged that it was even suggested.
"Sorry but had to ask. I mean you are on here asking him where he got his from, sounds like you were looking for a supplier." Liam responded.
"That's not… I'm… forget it." He sighed.
"Guys, I get where you are coming from, but he wasn't on drugs, he's not. He was just used to being the best player and then I came in and tested that. Though his response to that wasn't normal. I get why he reacted the way he did. He had reasons for how he was back then." Scott said, putting a rest to the topic and the focus on Jackson. Jackson looked at Scott in confusion and begrudging gratefulness.
"Gah, I hate when you play the good guy." Stiles whined. Scott snorted.
JACKSON: Now, listen, McCall- you're gonna tell me exactly what it is and who you're buying it from, because there's no way in hell you're out there kicking ass on the field like that without some sort of chemical boost.
SCOTT: Oh, you mean steroids… Are you on steroids?
[Jackson loses his patience and his temper as he shoves Scott against the locker and pins him there]
JACKSON: What the hell is going on with you, McCall?
[Scott, who is already under a lot of stress due to his current situation, ends up answering Jackson's question honestly]
SCOTT: What's going on with me? You really wanna know? Well, so would I! Because I can see, hear, and smell things that I shouldn't be able to see, hear, and smell. I do things that should be impossible, I'm sleepwalking three miles into the middle of the woods, and I'm pretty much convinced that I'm totally out of my freaking mind!
"I can see why that would be concerning. If you're not born into this then I imagine it could be a shock and terrifying." Cora commiserated. Scott nodded.
"It was, then add in some other things that happened as a result of it. I'm surprised I was able to stay sane as long as I have."
JACKSON: You think you're funny, don't you, McCall? I know you're hiding something. I'm gonna find out what it is. I don't care how long it takes.
[On the high school LACROSSE FIELD, Scott is preparing to go on the field for try-outs when Stiles frantically runs up to talk to him]
STILES: Scott! Scott, wait up.
SCOTT: Stiles, I'm playing the first elimination, man. Can it wait?
STILES: Just hold on, okay? I overheard my dad on the phone. The fiber analysis came back from the lab in L.A. They found animal hairs on the body from the woods!
SCOTT: Stiles, I gotta go.
STILES: Wait, no! Scott! You're not gonna believe what the animal was... It was a wolf.
"You're timing is impeccable." Lydia commented.
"It usually is." Stiles sighed.
"I should have listened. If I had... well…" Scott said.
COACH: Let's go! Gather round! Bring it in, come on! Come on!
[Allison is on the sidelines, getting ready to settle down in the bleachers to watch the practice for the second day in a row. She waves at Scott, who waves back to her, though it doesn't escape Coach's notice]
COACH: Got a question, McCall?
SCOTT: What?
COACH: You raised your hand. You have a question?
SCOTT: Oh. No. I was just, uh... Nothing. Sorry.
COACH: Okay. You know how this goes. If you don't make the cut, you're most likely sitting on the bench for the rest of the season. You make the cut? You play. Your parents are proud.
[Coach shakes the face mask of the player standing in front of him to emphasize his point]
COACH: Your girlfriend loves ya! Huh? Everything else is, uh... cream cheese… Now, get out there and show me whatcha got! Come on!
JACKSON: Let's go! Let's go!
[Practice begins. Scott bounces on the balls of his feet while he waits for the ball to be thrown his way. Once again, when the ball heads his way, he's shocked when he actually catches it with minimal effort. He starts running down the field, but when he spins around to avoid getting the ball stolen by another player, Jackson appears out of nowhere and tackles him hard. Jackson lifts up his helmet and smirks smugly at Scott before jogging away]
Jackson, in the now, echoes that grin.
"Geez, you really are a douche. Was that even necessary or were you just having a temper tantrum like a toddler?" Alec snarked. Jackson's grin dies and he rolls his eyes.
"I don't think that was a good idea." Corey said speaking for the first time.
"It wasn't." Stiles and Scott answered together.
"It just worked to piss me off, which, at that time, was definitely not a good thing." Scott added.
[Scott and Jackson are up against each other for the lacrosse equivalent of a kickoff. Much to Jackson's dismay, Scott easily snatches the ball before he can even react, forcing him to chase after him as fast as he can. Just like the previous day's practice, everything seems to slow down around Scott, allowing him to spin out of the way when the other players try to tackle him, jumping over another player's ankle when they try to trip him, and finally, doing a hands-free round-off flip over three players who attempted to knock him down together, and shooting the goal by throwing the ball between the goalie's legs]
"Dude, that was sweet!" Liam exclaimed, practically bouncing in his seat.
[Scott gasps, clearly having difficulty believing what had just happened, and Jackson looks both furious and desperate to know what Scott's secret is. When Scott pumps his fists into the air, the other players run up to him and smack him affectionately on the shoulders, and Allison stands up in the stands to clap and cheer for him.]
COACH: McCall! Get over here!
[Scott jogs over to where Coach is standing and takes off his helmet]
COACH: What in God's name was that? This is a lacrosse field. What, are you trying out for the gymnastics team?
SCOTT: No, Coach.
COACH: What the hell was that?
SCOTT: I don't know. I-I was just trying to make the shot.
COACH: Yeah, well, you made the shot. And guess what? … You're startin', buddy… You made first line. Come on!
[All the players on the field and bench clap for him except for Stiles, who seems concerned by the uncharacteristically athletic prowess Scott showed on the field]
"You already had an idea of what was happening didn't you?" Chris asked Stiles.
"I did, but I wanted to be sure before I jumped to conclusions. I actually researched it after practice was over."
[After practice, Stiles headed straight for his bedroom, where he began researching Werewolves on his computer.
"See." Stiles grinned, gesturing at the screen.
Sometime later, Stiles moves on to reading an old, battered book titled The History of Lycanthropy, before going back to the computer and searching online for articles about silver as a weakness of Werewolves. Finally, Stiles, looking concerned about what he's read so far, prints out an old sketch of a Hunter aiming a crossbow at a transformed Werewolf]
"Okay, that makes me nervous. Scott…" Melissa said, looking at her son.
"It's okay mom. As you can see I'm here and I'm fine. But… yes." He answered her unasked question.
[The sound of knocking at Stiles' door startles him so badly that he nearly falls out of his chair. When he finds Scott in the doorway, he sighs in relief before allowing Scott entry]
STILES: Get in… You gotta see this thing. I've been up all night reading- websites, books, all this information.
SCOTT: How much Adderall have you had today?
STILES: A lot.
"You take Adderall?" Alec asked.
"That explains things." Jackson muttered under his breath.
"Uh, I did, yeah." Stiles told him, ignoring Jackson, tapping his fingers nervously against his leg. Lydia grabbed his hand, giving it a squeeze.
"Did? Do you still not take it?" Noah asked, looking at his son.
"No, I haven't taken it in over year now."
"Are you okay without it? Did they take you off it?"
"Uh no. I just… haven't been able to fill the prescription anymore. But I'm fine. I'm coping." He told his dad who looked concerned at that. Scott gave his shoulder a squeeze. "If it's not explained why in these showings I will tell you later." He said cutting off his dad's next question. Noah studied him longer seeing the tension and nodded once.
STILES: Doesn't matter, okay? Just listen.
SCOTT: Oh, is this about the body? Did they find out who did it?
STILES: No, they're still questioning people. Even Derek Hale.
SCOTT: Oh, the guy in the woods that we saw the other day?
STILES: Yeah! … Yes. But that's not it, okay?
"You are so easily distracted." Lydia laughed. Stiles shrugged, not disagreeing.
SCOTT: What, then?
STILES: Remember the joke from the other day?
[Stiles looks nervous about what he's going to say next, which only gets worse when Scott shakes his head, not knowing where Stiles is going with this]
STILES: Not a joke anymore. The wolf, the bite in the woods... I started doing all this reading… Do you even know why a wolf howls?
SCOTT: Should I?
STILES: It's a signal, okay? When a wolf's alone, it howls to signal its location to the rest of the pack. So if you heard a wolf howling, that means others could have been nearby. Maybe even a whole pack of 'em.
SCOTT: A whole pack of wolves?
STILES: No- Werewolves.
[Scott, thinking this is just an elaborate joke on Stiles' part, starts to get irritated as he stands to his feet]
SCOTT: Are you seriously wasting my time with this? You know I'm picking up Allison in an hour.
"You didn't believe him." Mason said. Scott shook his head.
"Would you have at that point? I knew something was going on with me but not what. I just knew that so far he was kind of working in my favor for once. At that time, I still believed that all of that were just in movies and fairytales, and I never thought it would be something that had to do with me."
"I can understand that. When did you start to believe?"
"That same night, it was kind of hard not to. You'll see."
[Scott picks up his backpack and gets ready to leave, but Stiles grabs him by the arm with one hand and presses his other against his chest so that he's forced to stay where he is while he tries to convince Scott that he's telling the truth]
STILES: I saw you on the field today, Scott, okay? What you did wasn't just amazing, all right? It was impossible.
SCOTT: Yeah, so I made a good shot.
[Stiles grabs Scott's backpack and tosses it onto his bed so dig around inside of it for something]
STILES: No, you made an incredible shot! I mean, the way you moved, your speed, your reflexes? Y'know, people can't just suddenly do that overnight. And there's the vision, and the senses, and don't even think I don't notice that you don't need your inhaler anymore.
SCOTT: Okay! Dude, I can't think about this now. We'll talk tomorrow.
STILES: Tomorrow?! What? No! The full moon's tonight. Don't you get it?
SCOTT: What are you trying to do? I-I just made first line. I-I got a date with a girl who I can't believe wants to go out with me, and everything in my life is somehow perfect. Why are you trying to ruin it?
STILES: [loudly] I'm trying to help!
Scott sighed looking at his best friend.
"I don't know if I ever did apologize to you for how I acted then. I was just so caught up in my sudden popularity that I didn't want to listen. I should have though. I know you were only trying to explain and help me. I'm sorry I didn't pay attention; not like I should have."
"Dude, you did apologize, and I get it. I was trying to help but I really wasn't sure on how back then. Just like you were caught up with everything that was happening to you, so was I. I didn't take the time to really think about how to help. It didn't help that it was also the same day as the full moon, so your emotions were already all over the place." Stiles said, clapping him on the shoulder.
"This is sweet and all but can we save the bromance for later so we can actually finish this episode, or whatever." Jackson cut in. more then one person glared at him.
"Got somewhere to be?" Stiles asked him with a raised brow. Again, Jackson rolled his eyes.
[Stiles takes a deep breath before he continues in a softer tone of voice]
STILES: You're cursed, Scott. You know, and it's not just the moon will cause you to physically change. It also just so happens to be when your bloodlust will be at its peak.
SCOTT: Bloodlust?
STILES: Yeah, your urge to kill.
SCOTT: [irritably] I'm already starting to feel an urge to kill, Stiles.
STILES: You gotta hear this- "The change can be caused by anger or anything that raises your pulse." All right? I haven't seen anyone raise your pulse like Allison does. You gotta cancel this date.
[Stiles stands to his feet and starts digging through Scott's backpack again]
STILES: I'm gonna call her right now.
SCOTT: What are you doing?
STILES: I'm canceling the date.
SCOTT: No, give it to me!
[Scott grabs the phone out of Stiles' hand, dropping it on the floor before shoving Stiles against the wall and raising his right fist, preparing to punch him in the face.]
Scott closes his eyes, feeling guilt over his reaction on the screen. He remembered he had been ready to hit him, he was that angry and the only reason he snapped out of it because he realized he was over reacting.
SCOTT: I'm sorry. I-I gotta go get ready for that party.
[Scott picks up his phone and his backpack and heads for the door, giving Stiles one last apologetic look before he goes]
SCOTT: I'm sorry.
[Scott leaves, and Stiles lets out a long breath of relief. Still clearly upset, Stiles roughly picks up his desk chair and sets it to rights, freezing in horror when he sees that the leather cover on the chair has four long slits on the back that look like claw marks]
"Shit, you didn't tell me that. Why didn't you tell me about that?"
"Scott its fine. At least it was the chair and not me. Besides when after that was I going to tell you. things kind of went to shit after that." Stiles said. Chris perked up hearing that wondering what exactly happened that night, since his daughter was the one Scott had been with. Scott groaned, remembering what happened that night. Now everyone perked up paying close attention.
[Scott has just finished taking a shower, and walks out of his bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist. Once he enters his bedroom, he's startled to find his mother, Melissa McCall, standing outside the door waiting for him]
SCOTT: Mom!
MELISSA: Is this a party or a date?
SCOTT: Maybe both.
MELISSA: And her name is?
SCOTT: Allison.
MELISSA: Allison. Nice.
SCOTT: Thank you.
[After a moment, Melissa narrows her eyes suspiciously]
MELISSA: We don't need to have a talk, do we?
[Scott groans and rolls his eyes]
SCOTT: Mom, I'm not having the safe sex talk with you.
Melissa balked and Chris glared at him while Allison blushed, and Scott rolled his eyes.
"It was our first date. I may have been a hormonal teen, but I wasn't thinking about sex right then. She mentioned having a talk and that's the only talk I could think of that she would want to have."
"May have been?" Malia questioned, quirking a brow at him.
"Fine, I may still be for the most part. But I wasn't thinking about it then. Now however…" he said grinning. She giggled, shaking her head at him.
MELISSA: Oh, my God. No! I meant about keeping the tank full. Give me those back!
SCOTT: Are you serious?
MELISSA: You bet your ass I am serious. I'm not gonna end up on some reality television show with a pregnant sixteen-year-old. Come on!
[Scott, who apparently talked his mother into still allowing him to use the car, pulls up in front of Allison's house.
Lydia tuts and rolls her eyes at him.
"First date, remember?" he told her.
"With Allison or ever?" Liam asked.
"Ever. I was socially awkward back then. So, Allison was my first date."
"You say that like you're not still socially awkward." Stiles tells him.
"Not a lot of time to be social these days so I'm sticking to back then."
After a moment, Allison opens the door and walks outside]
[Scott and Allison arrive at the party in the backyard. As they take the party in, Scott notices Derek Hale standing in the shadows behind a fire pit located by the gate to the yard. He and Scott stare at each other for a long moment as a nearby dog starts barking at Derek, who uses his animal instincts to quiet the dog with simply a look. Derek then resumes staring at]
"Why were you there?" Cora asked.
"I would have scented him out as a wolf, so I was probably there to keep an eye on him. Especially on that night." Derek answered.
"And you couldn't be a little more subtle?"
"The moon was already up, didn't have time for subtly." He shrugged. Scott and Stiles both snorted.
"Subtle was never in your vocabulary to begin with." Stiles said causing Derek to look at him in annoyance and more confusion.
ALLISON: You okay?
[Scott turns to look at Allison, breaking eye contact with Derek]
SCOTT: What? Yeah, I'm fine.
[Scott looks back at where Derek was just standing, only to find that he has vanished. His gaze travels up to the roof, where he sees a shadowy figure leaping across the top of the Martin House under the full moon overhead, causing him to frown in concern. When he returns to looking at Allison, he notices that she's holding out her left hand and waiting for Scott to take it, which he finally does with a smile]
Chris watches, not liking the fact that Scott is with his daughter, on the night of his first full moon. He's worried that something with happen to her so close to a young wolf.
[Allison puts her right arm around his neck, and the two get closer and closer to each other. Allison runs her fingers through the back of Scott's hair with a smile before burrowing her face his neck.
[Allison and Scott are nose-to-nose now, and just when it looks like they're about to kiss, Scott's fingers tighten around the back of Allison's jacket as the full moon finally starts to take effect in his body.]
ALLISON: Are you okay?
SCOTT: I'll be right back.
[Scott heads inside the house, leaving Allison alone in the backyard. As Scott walks through the dining room, his vision starts to get shaky and blurry. He passes Stiles, who is wearing a lavender dress shirt and tie and is in the middle of a conversation with another male student when he sees Scott and looks at him with a worried expression]
STILES: Yo, Scott, you good?
[Scott is too overwhelmed to respond to Stiles' question and instead continues making his way through the house, passing Harley in the living room, who also seems concerned by Scott's obvious pain]
HARLEY: Are you okay?
[Scott pushes on through the foyer and out the front door, where he stumbles down the stone staircase to where he parked. Allison, looking both confused and hurt, follows Scott until she sees him get into the car and drive off without another word. Just then, she hears her name being called out]
DEREK: Allison.
[Allison turns around to see Derek standing behind her with a charming smile]
DEREK: I'm a friend of Scott's… My name's Derek.
"What are you doing?" Chris asks sharply looking to Derek, fear lacing his tone.
"More than likely I am taking her home. Unlike your family I don't hurt innocents." Derek told him, his tone breeching no argument. Everyone looked between the two men staring each other down wondering what they are talking about. Peter and Cora also staring at the man, knowing, just like Scott and his group, what Derek is referring too. Talia reaches over and touches her son's arm.
"Derek don't." she tells him. he takes a deep breath and nods focusing back on the screen.
"He did actually just take me home and drop me off." Allison confirmed to her father. He looked at her and nodded, trying to relax back in his seat. He could feel the eyes of Melissa and Noah on him but refused to acknowledge them. He had a feeling he wouldn't be well liked during this.
[Scott rushed upstairs to his bedroom, where he locks the door before sliding down it into a crouching position. Directly in front of him is his open bedroom window, which gives him a perfect look at the full moon in the sky. Groaning in pain, he stumbles into the attached bathroom and strips out of his jacket and tshirt before climbing into the bathtub and turning on the shower so that hot water pours over him. He seems to get a headache from his extra-heightened senses and grips the sides of the bathtub. Suddenly, his fingers start to ache, and when he looks down at the palms of his water-swollen hands, he is horrified to see his fingernails growing into long, sharp claws]
"So, this is when you started to believe." Mason said.
"Yeah, kind of hard to dispute the facts when you are looking at them. Then I just got scared."
[Frantically getting out of the shower, Scott looks in the mirror over the medicine cabinet and is even more overwhelmed to find his canine teeth growing into fangs and his irises glowing a bright gold color. a loud pounding knock is heard on his bedroom door.]
SCOTT: Go away.
[Another knock is heard on the door]
STILES: Scott, it's me.
[Scott, realizing that it is his best friend and not his mother, unlocks his door but only allows Stiles to open it a few inches so that Stiles can hear him but not see him. Scott continues to lean his forehead against the door as he struggles to control his breathing]
STILES: Let me in, Scott. I can help.
"I was so not letting you in." Scott chuckled shaking his head.
"And I thank you for that." Stiles smiled brightly at him.
SCOTT: No! Listen, you gotta find Allison.
STILES: She's fine, all right? I saw her get a ride from the party. She's-she's totally fine, all right?
SCOTT: No, I think I know who it is-
STILES: Dude, just let me in! We can try-
SCOTT: -It's Derek. Derek Hale is the Werewolf! He's the one that bit me. He's the one that killed the girl in the woods.
"You blamed Derek for biting you and killing someone." Cora said with a raised brow.
"You mean did I think that the angry guy who on first seeing us practically growled at us for not knowing we were on his property and then showing up at a party I was at and watched me like a creepy stalker from across the room, did I blame it on him. Yep. sure did." Scott explained. Cora thought about that and then nodded.
"Understood."
Derek looked at her in surprise.
"What, you were looking like a creepy stalker, and you did upon first encountering them bark at them for being somewhere before just disappearing. I probably would have thought it was you as well."
The others snickered as he sighed. Even Talia tried to cover a smile.
STILES: Scott... Derek's the one who drove Allison from the party...
[Scott processes this for a short moment before he quickly shuts the door and locks it again. Out in the hallway, Stiles rattles the doorknob, and when he can't open the door, he starts to pound on it with his fist in an attempt to be let back in]
STILES: Scott!
[Scott opened the window to his second-floor bedroom and jumped out. He lands on his feet on the ground below in a three-point stance, splashing in the rain puddle left from the previous night. Scott then completes his transformation into his Werewolf form, complete with a ridged brow, pointed ears, mutton chops, gold glowing eyes, claws, and fangs. Saliva drips from the tips of his elongated canine teeth as he looks up at the full moon and roars]
"Oh God, I was still holding out a little bit of hope that all the clues and hints still this wouldn't be true." She sighed, her face in her hands.
"Sorry mom." Scott says sadly. She looks back at him with watery eyes.
"It's okay honey. Looking at you know I can see you that you survived and that your okay." she tries to smile but it trembles as she thinks about what her son's life is like now.
[In the BEACON HILLS PRESERVE, Scott jumps on top of Derek's car, which is parked just out front of the entrance sign. He looks inside to see that neither Allison nor Derek are there before he heads into the woods]
Chris grimaces, knowing what happened that night and now realizing who the wolf they had tried to capture is. He is now completely sure he will not be liked. His only excuse being that he was just making sure that innocent people wouldn't be hurt but a crazed wolf.
[Meanwhile, at the ARGENT HOUSE, Stiles has just arrived and immediately rushes out of the Jeep toward the front door, where he frantically rings the doorbell as he mutters under his breath]
STILES: Come on... Come on... Come on...
[In the BEACON HILLS PRESERVE, Scott, fully transformed, is running through the woods, using his new superhuman sense of smell to track Allison's scent in order to locate her and Derek]
[At the ARGENT HOUSE, Allison's mother, Victoria Argent, has just opened the front door to find an overwhelmed Stiles on the doorstep]
STILES: Hi, Mrs. Argent. Um - You have no idea who I am. I'm a friend of your daughter's. Uhhh, look, this is gonna sound kind of crazy, um... Really crazy, actually. You know what? Crazy doesn't even describe-
VICTORIA: Allison! It's for you.
[Alison walks onto the balcony at the top of the staircase, looking perfectly fine. Stiles looks flabbergasted by the sight of her, and Allison looks confused as to why he looks so panicked]
"So that's why you showed up to my house looking so disheveled." Allison laughed.
"Well, I knew Scott would be panicking, which was making me panic and I wanted to be able to let him know you were okay. Pretty sure your mom just thought I was an idiot."
"She did." Allison confirmed. He grunted.
[Scott continues to run through the woods, where he finds Allison's jacket hanging on a branch and realizes that it was the scent he was following, and not the scent of Allison herself. When Derek steps out of the shadows, Scott glares at him and growls in warning]
SCOTT: Where is she?
DEREK: She's safe... from you.
[Derek tackles Scott, leading to the two of them to continue to roll down a slight hill. Once they reach the bottom, Derek pulls Scott to his feet and pins him against a tree]
SCOTT: What did you do with her?
DEREK: Shh, quiet. Too late. They're already here. Run.
"Who's there?" Melissa asked dreading the answer. she remembered earlier with Stiles research and him mentioning hunters. She hoped she was wrong.
[Derek runs away, but Scott, not understanding what is going on, takes a beat to catch on. This distraction ends up working against him when a flash-bang arrow flies past him, blinding him momentarily. As he recovers, another arrow is shot at him, which goes through his left forearm and pins him to the tree.
Everyone gasps, while Malia, Cora, and Derek growl. Peter stares unblinkingly but you could see the anger simmer as he watches.
Suddenly, a group of three middle-aged male Hunters step out of the shadows, with the leader, Argent, holding a crossbow aimed right at Scott while Derek watches from a distance]
Silence fills the room, not even a breath is heard as the see Chris on screen aiming at Scott. The silence is broken by a piercing shriek.
"YOU SON OF A BITCH. YOU SHOT AT MY SON!" Melissa screams making to get up, but Noah wraps an arm around her keeping her seated.
Chris holds up his hands in surrender as he watches her.
"I didn't know it was him at the time. I didn't even meet him until the next day. I just knew there was a wolf on the lose during a full moon. My only goal was to keep it from going after a human."
"He, not it, he. And he is my son. And is that always your first response shoot first. you already blinded him. What they hell were you planning on doing with him once you got him? Kill him?" she said as she continued to struggle against the Sheriff's hold. Scott got up and went to his mother, kneeling in front of her.
"Mom, it's okay. I'm okay. he didn't end up catching me. I got out and I was fine. I promise. Calm down, okay?"
"No, its not fine Scott. You could have died. I doubt he was aiming at your arm, its just the part that he got. What if it had hit an artery or your heart or… something. he could have killed you." she said, panting but no longer trying to pull free.
"But he didn't, and he hasn't. I get that this was hard to see and even harder to understand but at that time Argent didn't know who I was and looking back I really don't blame him for what he did. his experiences with supernaturals were horrifying before then. He was only doing what he thought he had to do. Don't focus on this moment. It's a blip in my life now. I'm right here and I am fine." He told her.
She looked him over seeing the man her son had become and finding solace that he was right, he was there in front of her, and he was okay, this… whatever it was didn't take him away from her. she cupped his face, needing to touch him to really believe he was real, and nodded. Scott placed a kiss on her forehead before returning to his seat. Instead of having Malia snuggle up to him, he picked her up and set her on his lap, wrapping both arms around him. Malia said nothing just ran her fingers through his hair knowing this brought back memories for him of the last time he really talked to his mother.
Everyone relaxed back and continued watching.
ARGENT: Take him.
[Before the Hunters can move, Derek knocks out the two closest to him, leaving Chris outnumbered. Taking advantage of the distraction, Derek pulls the arrow out of Scott's arm]
SCOTT: AHHHH!
[The two quickly run away, and when Chris finishes checking on his men, he looks back at the tree to find that Scott is gone]
"Thank you." Melissa tells Derek in a shaky voice. He nodded to her.
[Once Derek and Scott have run far enough away from the Hunters to feel that the coast is clear, Scott, now in his human form, falls to his knees as he recovers from the overwhelming combination of transforming into a Werewolf, believing Allison to be in danger, and being shot by Hunters.]
SCOTT: Who were they?
DEREK: Hunters. The kind that have been hunting us for centuries.
[Scott glares furiously at Derek]
SCOTT: Us? You mean you! You did this to me!
DEREK: Is it really so bad, Scott? That you can see better? Hear more clearly? Move faster than any human could ever hope? You've been given something that most people would kill for. The Bite is a gift.
SCOTT: I don't want it.
DEREK: You will. And you're gonna need me if you want to learn how to control it… So you and me, Scott? We're brothers now.
"You're pep talks really did get better over time." Scott chuckles, glancing at Derek.
[Derek walks away, leaving Scott alone to process the events of the evening]
[Scott is walking along the side of the road, cradling his now-healed left forearm with his right arm, when Stiles' Jeep pulls up next to him. Scott gets into the passenger seat before putting on Stiles' jacket]
"How did you even find me?" Scott asked.
"Uh, I just kind of drove up and down the road all night until I saw someone dirty and half naked walking around." He shrugged.
"Did you really?" Lydia asked.
"Yeah, I mean I wasn't sure where he was going but figured he was going after Derek. Since I didn't know where he lived I just drove around keeping watch."
SCOTT: You know what actually worries me the most?
STILES: If you say "Allison," I'm gonna punch you in the head.
Everyone laughs and Melissa gives a perfunctory giggle.
SCOTT: She probably hates me now.
STILES: Ugh. I doubt that. But you might want to come up with a pretty amazing apology. Or, you know, you could just tell her the truth and revel in the awesomeness of the fact that you're a frickin' Werewolf.
[Stiles looks over at Scott]
STILES: Okay, bad idea. Hey, we'll get through this. Come on, if I have to, I'll chain you up myself on full moon nights and feed you live mice.
[Scott gives him another look, only this time, it's more confused than annoyed]
STILES: I had a boa once. I could do it.
[After school, Scott is waiting outside the front entrance to the school for Allison so that he can apologize to her.
ALLISON: So what happened? You left me stranded at the party.
SCOTT: Yeah, I-I know, I know. I'm really sorry, I am. But you're gonna have to trust that I had a really good reason.
ALLISON: Did you get sick?
[Scott sighs at the reminder of what happened on Friday]
SCOTT: ...I definitely had an attack of something.
ALLISON: Am I gonna get an explanation?
[Scott puts on his best innocent smile]
SCOTT: Can you just find it in your heart to trust me on this one?
ALLISON: Am I gonna regret this?
SCOTT: Probably. So is that a "yes" on a second chance?
ALLISON: Definitely yes.
[They smile at each other for a moment until they're interrupted by a car horn beeping near them. When Allison looks up to find the source of the noise, she sees a familiar burgundy SUV and prepares to leave]
ALLISON: That's my dad. I better go.
[Scott is about to turn back toward the school to go to lacrosse practice when he suddenly catches a scent that he recognizes and turns back around. When he looks toward the SUV, he sees that Allison's father is Chris Argent, the leader of the trio of Hunters who shot him several nights earlier.
"So, wait. You just saw her dad was one of the hunters that shot at you the night before and you two still dated?" Liam asked in surprise.
"I was already halfway in love with her by then, I wasn't ready to just give up on a chance with her. But I did freak out after I realized." Scott shrugged.
"Malia, you don't seem bothered at all by him saying that." Cora cut in. Malia shrugged.
"we all have pasts. If he can look past me being in love with Stiles at one point then I can look past that."
"WHAT?!" Everyone yelled at once.
"Long story, and it will probably be shown." Stiles sighed.
Argent catches Scott staring at them, and Scott, stunned into speechlessness, waves at them awkwardly before watching them pull away to head home, horrified at the realization that the girl he wants to date is the daughter of a Werewolf Hunter]
The screen went dark, and everyone just continued to sit there deep in thought about all that had been shown and revealed in just this first episode.
"So, you're a werewolf?" Mason broke the silence this time. Scott nodded. "are you the only one here?"
"No."
"Who else?" Noah asked, looking around. Derek, Peter, and Cora all showed their eyes, two blue and one gold.
"Wait, why are some blue? Is that like a level thing or something?" Liam asked.
"No, gold means that they are still technically innocent, they have never had to kill before. Blue means they have and red means they are an alpha." Talia explained.
"Okay… So, there's Alpha and are there others?"
"Omega's and betas." Deaton answered. "Omegas mean they don't have a pack and betas do."
"So, Scott is a beta because he has a pack right?" Liam asked.
Deaton and Talia both looked at Scott encouragingly. He sighed and switched his eyes, showing the deep red to everyone. Liam's mouth dropped open and Melissa blinked at her son. Chris, Allison, and Noah sat up straighter taking it in and Peter, Cora and Derek raised brows in surprise. Everyone else just took it in striding already knowing this.
"You're an alpha." Jackson exclaimed. "How the hell are you an alpha?"
"Luck?" Scott shrugged. Malia, Stiles, and Lydia snorted.
"Wait, if you're an alpha that means you had to have killed someone." Allison surmised. Chris turned to her, shocked.
"How did you know that?" he asked her.
"I'm from a different timeline then you dad. I know a lot of things now; some I wish I didn't." she said softly.
"I didn't kill anyone. Not for this at least." He explained.
"Not to be an alpha but you have killed." Noah spoke up watching as Scott's jaw clenched and his hands fisted.
"Its been a long hard year." He bit out. Malia stroked his hands until they unfisted and Stiles and Lydia looked away solemnly.
"So, you didn't' kill an alpha to become an alpha?" Peter questioned, wondering. Scott grinned at him.
"No, I didn't kill to become an alpha."
"That will all be explained as we keep watching." Talia said loudly over Peter's next words, shutting down that line of questioning.
"Are there any other questions before we get into the next episode?" Deaton asked looking around. Liam, again, raised his hand. Deaton, smirking at the small beta nodded to him.
"Why are Stiles and Scott's parents here but not Malia and Lydia's?"
"My mom is safely and ignorantly back in Beacon Hills; she knows somethings about the supernatural but not enough for them to target her." Lydia explained sadly. She makes monthly calls to her mother from payphones, only long enough to let her know she is fine but not give her any information as to where she is.
"My dad," Malia hesitates, working hard to not look over at Peter. "thinks I ran away so I don't talk to him. He's still in Beacon Hills as far as I know but he doesn't know about me or the supernatural so he's safe."
"Know about you? Are you a wolf too?" Melissa asked.
"No, I'm a coyote." Malia said flashing her eyes. Allison opened her mouth to ask about the blue.
"Don't." Scott told her, shaking his head. Allison bit her lip and nodded.
"Stiles, you're… you're still human, right?" Noah asked, scared of the answer.
"I'm still human, I promise." Stiles told him.
"And Lydia?" Mason asked.
"Lydia's a genius." Stiles said smiling down at his girlfriend.
"You say such sweet things, sometimes." She said cupping his face and placing a kiss on his lips. Jackson huffed, crossing his arms. "Besides that, I am also a banshee and before you ask, that will probably be explained while we watch. Its kind of hard to put into words what it is."
"Any other questions before we start?" Deaton asked, looking around. "good, let's begin." He said when he received head shakes from everyone.
