AN: Enjoy!

Having made their decision, Wanda and Vision headed back inside, where they found their new friends frantically searching the cafe.

"I believe you are looking for this little fellow.." Vision chuckled, scooping little Groot out of Billy's cradle and depositing him back on the table.

"Groot!" Rocket scolded. "How many times have I told you not to wander off?"

"I am Groot.." said Groot sheepishly.

"Don't be too mad at him" Wanda interrupted, in defence of the adorable little shrub. "It was mostly our fault, he was playing in Billy's cradle and we accidentally took him outside with us.."

"Well.. no harm done, I guess" Rocket shrugged. "Thanks for bringin' the little sap back in one piece.

"You're welcome," Wanda smiled.

"Now that we've returned your little friend, perhaps we could get back to our earlier conversation" Vision returned to his seat. "Wanda and I have been talking, and we really would like to help.."

"I'm sensing a 'but'" Quill frowned.

"What? Where?" Drax looked around. "If Rocket stole my pants again.."

"Not that kind of butt, Drax.." Gamora rolled her eyes.

"Oh.. never mind then."

"We are currently in a delicate situation," Vision continued. "The safety of Wanda and the boys is my primary concern. If we are going to help you protect this planet from someone as dangerous as Ronan, we need to know that you have a solid plan for doing so.."

"That's fair" Nebula nodded. "Finally, we might be bringing someone onto this team who's not a complete moron.."

"We have a plan" Quill glared at her. "It's a good plan, too. You and Gamora helped come up with it, remember?"

"That's why it's a good plan.." Gamora smirked.

"I am Groot!" said Groot.

"Yeah, don't forget me!" Rocket cut in. "There wouldn't be a plan without my tech!"

"Not to be rude" said Vision, "But who actually came up with the plan isn't what we were asking. We really just want to know what the plan actually is, and what our part in it would be."

"Right.." Quill nodded. "The plan. Here goes.."

The plan, as it happened, centred on two major elements. One being, the fact that Quill and his friends, who'd dubbed themselves the Guardians, had begun training many of the townspeople in basic combat techniques. While it wouldn't put them anywhere near a match for Ronan's forces, it would give them a surprise, as they probably weren't expecting a fight.

The other was Rocket's tech. Everyone else just had to keep Ronan occupied while he finished setting up, and then lure his armies into the trap rocket set up.

It all sounded good, in theory. The plan was, if not entirely foolproof, at least well-thought out. And there was so much hope shining in Wanda's soft green eyes, that Vision couldn't bear to say no.

So, if just a little reluctantly, Vision agreed to help.

While the other Guardians returned to their task of training the townspeople, Vision set about combing through a set of papers that Rocket had given him, making sure he learned the plan inside and out. He'd been doing this for nearly a whole day before Wanda approached him.

"Vizh?

"Hello, Wanda" He looked up from his papers, slightly concerned to find her alone. "Where are the boys?"

"They're playing with little Groot, and some of the other Townspeople's kids," said Wanda. "Come see?"

"Alright" He set aside his things. "It was probably time I had a break anyway."

Vision headed outside with Wanda. He watched Billy, giggling as he toddled about with Groot perched on his shoulder, watched Tommy speed about as he played with the other children, and his heart warmed.

Mantis, who seemed to have taken the job of watching over the little ones, waved, and Vision waved back. Wanda frowned a little, but shook it off, her expression softening when her attention turned back to the twins.

"They deserve this.. A chance to play, and be carefree like regular children."

"They do," Vision agreed.

"They've never had that chance before," said Wanda. "But if we succeed in protecting this planet, maybe they could, for a while. So.. I need you to teach me to fight, Vision."

"What?" Vision frowned, a little surprised.

"I need you to teach me to fight" Wanda repeated. "I have my powers, but that's not enough.. I need to know some of the martial arts stuff, like you. So.. teach me."

"Now?"

"Well, we only have a few days, so we probably should get started if I'm actually going to learn anything."

"Are you sure?" Vision hesitated. "I promised I would keep you safe.."

"And you have" said Wanda. "But.. I don't want you to have to be the only one putting yourself in danger all the time. All of this is a burden we can share, if you'll let me. Just teach me how."

"Well.. okay. I'll teach you.. but what about the boys?"

"Your friend Mantis can watch them. She's doing fine so far.."

"If you think so.. Although, while Mantis seems nice, I wouldn't exactly call her a friend just yet. I only met her yesterday, after all.."

"Oh.." Wanda smiled, strangely happy.

And so, Vision taught her. Or he tried. Unfortunately, Vision found himself getting slightly distracted. Wanda picked things up so easily, and the way she moved, she was absolutely enchanting. She was beautiful.

Therefore, Vision was distracted, and distracted was a very bad thing to be when you were sparring with someone. At some point, Wanda unbalanced him, and Vision began to topple backwards. He was unused to being knocked down, and so, panicking, he grabbed for Wanda to steady him, but unfortunately, only succeeded in pulling her down with him. Vision landed with a thud, Wanda falling on top of him.

For a moment, they both laid there, startled. Vision looked into Wanda's wide eyes, trying not to think too hard about how her soft curves fit so perfectly against him, or how wonderfully warm she was in comparison to the cool metal that made up much of his body.

Wanda's breathing quickened, heat creeping up her cheeks until they were nearly the same shade as Vision's. Once she'd regained her composure, she scrambled off of him, bolting right out of the hut.

Vision sat up, confused, unable to shake the feeling that he must have done something wrong.
