The older she got, the less she wanted to be near him. He wasn't sure if it was because of his ageless looks and beauty or it was because of her humanity but he knew she was avoiding him. He didnt know which way to move around her anymore.
He hated seeing her old. White hair, wrinkles. But she was wise and still had the smile as if she wwre a teen.
He regretted the years
He regretted the lost time,
He regretted not touching her more,
He regretted not trying harder,
He regretted not filling her womb
He regretted not asking to do more than just move West
He regretted not loving her.
He regretted not telling her.
Then, one cold winter night, she came, and he knew.
Kagome was dying.
"You dont have to hover," She said weak, laying in bed while he leaned against a wall.
But he was not leaving her. He focused on every breath. On every beat of her heart. On every last word that came out of her mouth.
Where was the girl he knew? Who was this old woman?
He sent word and Inuyasha came.
Inuyasha cried the tears he could not.
It was late in the night when she held her hand up and called for him. Sesshomaru slowly took her hand and looked down at her.
"Burn my body,"
Arrow.
"Please do not forget me,"
Another arrow.
"I will always love you,"
Arrow to the chest.
Her time grew near and he could only wish to see her as she once was. The jewels power hummed and a light within grew and he watched as her body changed before his eyes.
She breathed easy for a moment, smiling up at him, knowing what had just happened. "I figured at this point a selfish wish would not matter," She whispered.
She was twenty again and he wasted no time in kissing her. He didnt say he loved her, but he poured all the regret and feelings into that last kiss.
As it slowly, as she pulled away their eyes met and she ran her hand across his cheek, and then her eyes went void as if he had pulled the last breath from her.
He was tired of swatting away the arrows of regret, so this time, he dropped his head down and let the arrows sink deep into his chest, the blood seeping from his eyes, two teardrops unseen by anyone fell, the only evidence was two drops on the wood floor, seeping into it.
She was gone.
