Sesshomaru watched her from afar. She was the same but different. Just like he remembered her, she made friends easy. Just like he remembered she got herself into trouble, both had death wishes.

She was horrible at riding horses and broke a bone or two. Was a thrill seeker in water to the point he thought he would have to go swimming. Liked to climb trees and go on adventures. All the while, he stayed close enough to save her if he had two, but he was always out of sight unless he wanted to be seen.

One such day he flew across the sky. The boy who had been keen on Kagome ran to tell the village.

When they learned it was not the first time this demon Lord had been seen, but the 3rd, they became concerned even though he had done nothing.

Konna groaned, and before the village could grab the forks and fire, she had to explain that he was her uncle.

This helped a little; of course, she did not tell them his name.

The next day, people were skittish. Kagome kept checking the sky.

"Kagome?"

"So, he is your dad's brother,"

"Yes,"

"But, he is full demon,"

Konna smiled. "Yes,"

"So he comes to watch over you,"

Konna didnt mean to snort; she just did because it was funny.

"What?"

"Sorry, nothing, something like that."

"Why dont you visit him?"

"It's uh, complicated,"

"What is his name,"

Konna paused. Kagome was making a flower crown and looked up when Konna didnt answer right away. "Konna?"

"Lord Sesshomaru,"

Kagome blinked, setting the crown down.

Sesshomaru was close enough to see but not be seen.

"Sesshomaru," She said. Just like herself to leave off the Lord part. Kagome tilted her head, and Konna watched her closely.

After a moment, Kagome shook her head. "I get a feeling in my spine right before he shows up,"

Konna sat down and got in Kagome's face. "A feeling?"

"Yeah, like, I duno a warning,"

Konna knew that was the holy power in her reaction to him. She smiled.

"What?"

"Want to hear a story,"

"Is it a fairytale,"

"Something like that,"

"Does it have a prince,"

"Oh yeah,"

"Does it have a good ending,"

"We shall see,"

"Once upon a time, there was a demon Lord who had two sons, one half-demon and one full-blooded prince, and while they did not always get along and were different in every day, they had one thing in common: they fell in love with human girls, but not just any human girls, Mikos,"

Kagome gasped.

Konna went into deep detail about Kagome's past life as if telling a bedtime story. About a girl from the future, about a girl from death. About a half-breed son and his powerful full-blooded brother. About a Monk and a Demon Slayer. Of course, she didnt tell her it was out of her father and uncle; that was not the point of the story.

Kagome was invested.

"But what happened,"

"The half-breed died and found his love,"

"And the brother?"

Konna smirked. "He is still searching till this day for the one who got away,"

"Wow,"

"My point is, though, you are a Miko,"

"And you are a half-breed!"

Leave it to Kagome to miss the point.

"And your uncle is a full blooded demon, is he a prince?"

Konna thought about it, "I guess you could still call him a prince," She shook her head. "But you are a Miko,"

Kagome blinked,

"That feeling you get, it's your power,"

"My power?"

Konna nodded. "Close your eyes and sit still,"

Kagome did as she was told.

"Breath and clear your mind, thinking of nothing,"

Kagome tired and listened for the trees and wind.

"Find your heartbeat,"

She listens to her own heart.

Konna took her hands and put them in the grass.

Sessomaru opened his power and let it flow like a river her way.

"Feel," Konna whispered.

His power raced to her fingers and attacked and Kagome gasped and her eyes flew open and she looked at her hands.

They were pink.

Konna stared.

Sesshomaru had just unlocked the jewel within her.
