Flashback: Truman University 1997

After getting to the Kappa Theta Xi sorority house, Angel met up with the head girl. Her name was Brittany, and like Angel right now, she had blonde hair and was dressed all in pink. She, followed by a group of the sorority girls, took Angel around the sorority house to give her a tour of the large mansion.

"So." Brittany asked, "Why are you starting classes so late?"

"My dad just got transferred into town. It's just us and my brothers so I transferred to be closer to them."

"Well, I can't tell you how perfect your timing is." She grinned at the other girls before turning back to Angel, "We have a sudden opening in our pledge class, so we're always thrilled to meet a Kappa legacy."

The brunette beside Brittany eyed her, "Where was your mom a Kappa?"

"My grandmother, actually." Angel corrected as her eyes swept the room she was in, "Long time ago. When she got married she had all boys so when I came around it was basically her dying wish that I continued her Kappa legacy."

"Aw, sweet." Brittany cooed, "Now… you understand that we only take girls of the highest caliber and who've been vetted through rush, but given recent circumstances and your pedigree…" She squealed, effectively startling Angel before bouncing up and down, "Let's all welcome our newest pledge! Woo!"

Bouncing up and down Brittany brought Angel in for a hug as all the other girls squealed in excitement.

"Oh." Angel stiffened slightly, "There's hugging."

"Come on, I'll show you your room." Brittany separated from her but latched onto her hand, "I don't want to brag, but we basically have the best house on campus."

As they walked upstairs, Angel noticed all of the pictures of different women lining the walls, "What's with the wall of fame?"

"Our founders and sisters have gone on to bigger things, and they're super generous." She grinned wider, "Wait until you try our chef's food."

"Chef?" Angel bulked impressed, "You guys have a chef?"

"Ta-da!" Brittany excitedly opened a bedroom door to reveal a very pink, floral room, "You like?"

"Uh…" Angel stared at the room in disgust for a second before recovering, "I love it! OMG, it's perfect!"

"I know, right? Too sweet." She grinned before pointing towards all the beds, "That one's Tasha's… and Sallys… and you can have this bed." She walked Angel over to a pink bed with a box that held a giant purple SCARLETT on it, "The last girl that stayed here didn't seem to want it."

"You know…" Angel nodded, "I'm not the type to gossip or anything, but I heard she just ran off one night. Are you worried about her?"

"Try livid." Brittany barked, "You know, lots of kids flake out first year, but we lost top girls to other houses holding a spot for Scarlett. If she wasn't committed to Kappa, she never should've rushed!" Angel's eyebrows rose at her outburst, but Brittany quickly sighed and offered her a smile, "But… we wish her well, and now here you are, our silver lining.

Angel forced a grin, "That's me!"

Brittany turned to grab the box, "Let me at least get her crap out of the way, so you can start fresh."

"Oh, don't worry about it." Angel stopped her before lightly grabbing her and leading her to the door, "Let me take that to security. It is the very least that I can do to thank my new sisters."

"See? Helpful." Brittany grinned, lightly pushing her, "You are totally Kappa material.

"Thanks." Angel forced another smile, rolling her eyes dramatically when the fellow blonde left the room, "God."

Later on that day…

After doing a little recon around campus, Angel found herself walking around the woods just outside of campus looking for any clues. She stopped when she came across a giant gaping sinkhole in the middle of the woods. Kneeling down, she tried to get a clearer look inside but was distracted by her phone ringing.

She picked it up on the second ring when she noticed it was Dean, "How was school, little brother?"

"Boring. The usual. Nothing happened."

"I assume you're at the motel with Sammy?"

"Yup. How's the case going?"

"Well, nobody not evil can be so preppy. And I've also learned these sorority girls do not take rejection well. You'd think this girl stood them up for prom instead of going missing."

Dean chuckled, "So I take it you're in then?"

"Oh yeah. Apparently I sell the 'pink, butterfly sorority girl' quite well, which is a little scary. I even have a box of Scarlett's old stuff that she left behind. Nothing earth-shattering there though, just a bunch of homework and hair products."

"You get a look at the rest of the house? Maybe the other girls are hiding something."

"Not yet. I asked about her to some frat guys I met and one of them said he saw her take off towards the woods that night, but he was drunk so he's not sure. Figured I'd check it out either way." She sighed, "Also, the dean is a little suspicious so I'm definitely gonna have to do some recon on her. The Sororitys having some kind of girls' night in deal tonight so I'm gonna use that opportunity to sneak around while the Heathers are distracted."

"Oh." That caught her brother's interest, "Will there be pillow fights? Please tell me there will be pillow fights."

"Okay, gross. Stop being a pervert." She laughed, "Just order pizza or something for dinner tonight. I should be back over there to get you two to school in the morning."

He replied, already with a mouthful of food, "Way ahead of you…"

Something shiny caught her attention from underneath the leaves and when she retrieved it she noticed it was a gold butterfly necklace, "What the…"

"What?"

"Just found the missing girl's necklace."

"How do you know it's hers?"

"Her mom said she always wore it. Which can't be a good sign…" A sound in the distance immediately had her guard up, "Dean, i'll call you back."

"Wait- what's going on?"

A branch breaking in the distance caused her to quickly end the call with her brother. Pocketing the necklace, she hid behind a tree as quietly as she could. Readying herself, she pulled out her gun and waited until she heard the footsteps getting closer. When they passed the tree she was hiding behind, she pistol whipped the stranger and sent him to the ground, unconscious. Glaring at the man, she quickly frisked him before leaning him up against a tree. This dude had numerous knives on him along with holy water, an athame and a gun. He also had a few fake ID's as well. One for the FBI, one for a marshal and one for a Ranger.

Her brow raised as she realized this guy had to be a hunter. She studied his black jacket, long sleeve flannel, jeans and worn boots. He was a big guy, about her dad's stature, but a lot younger. Maybe late twenties early thirties. He was cute too, definitely not what she was used to seeing when she ran across other hunters. Clean cut, clean shaven, with the only thing out of place being a pink raised scar across his cheek.

As he came too she knelt in front of him, "You a hunter?"

"Jeez lady." He grimaced, "What the hell was that for?"

She rolled her eyes, "Are you a hunter?"

He rubbed his head and glared at her, "What makes you think that?"

"You mean besides the holy water and athame? The fact that you got three different names to match three different titles. Ranger Roger Berrey, U.S. Marshal Angelo Rivas and, my personal favorite, FBI Special Agent Fox William Mulder." She tossed the ID's on his lap, "So which one is it, X-Files?"

"None…" He cleared his throat as he studied her face, mesmerized by this strange, beautiful woman that just kicked his ass out of nowhere, "I am a hunter, like you I'm assuming. We're probably working the same case so maybe we could help eachother out. Asa Fox." He brought his hand out to offer a handshake, "You are?"

Angel looked at his outstretched hand before getting up, "Not interested. This case is taken so you can get out of town, Asa Fox."

As she walked away, Asa watched her go with a smile on his face. He was completely perplexed as well as completely taken by this mysterious blonde.

Later that night…

After the Kappa Theta Xi party was in full effect, Angel slipped away from the cheering girls to explore the house a little better. She snuck down a flight of staris that was roped off and started snooping around. All of the rooms looked normal enough and were not holding anything suspicious but when she came across a locked door she knelt down to start picking the lock.

Brittanys high pitched voice soon sounded behind her, making her jump, "What are you doing down here?"

"I, uh…" Angel stood quickly and turned around to the glaring blonde, as well as the three girls behind her, "I was looking for the bathroom. Shy bladder."

"Basement's off-limits. Actives only. You know that." She glared for a beat before grinning ear to ear, "So get your cute butt back up here and come party with us! Woo!"

"Yeah!" The other girls cheered with her as they ran back up stairs, dragging Angel along, "Woo!"

Several beer bongs and shots later, Angel was once again able to slip away. She stumbled a little to the dean's office, probably a little more buzzed than she should be, but still had her mind on the case. When she got there, she started picking the lock to the door only to be slammed up against the door when she finally got inside.

Angel grimaced as she squirmed around trying to get free, "Christ." Looking up she saw it was the hunter from the woods smirking down at her, now dressed in a campus security uniform, "What the hell are you doing here? I said this case was taken."

Asa raised a brow as he grinned down at her with entertained eyes, "Are you drunk?"

She pushed him back so they separated, "I will have you know, I am in character and undercover."

"As a drunk sorority girl?"

"Tipsy, alright? I'm not drunk." She straightened out her pink polo shirt, "I'm a professional."

"Really?" He snickered, "Well, you look like you're in the middle of a sorority bender, blondie, not on a hunting job."

"It's Angel." She glared at him as she followed him back to the dean's desk, "You find anything while you were snooping around in here?"

"Oh, now you wanna work together?"

"Hey, the sooner this case is wrapped the sooner I can put the costume up and go about my merry way." She rolled her eyes, "The all-day smiling is killing me."

He smirked at her before he went back to shuffling around the desk, "I haven't found anything. To tell you the truth…" He shook his head, "I'm not sure this missing girl is our kind of case. I think she might have just taken off."

"No, from talking to her mom and her friends she doesnt seem like the type. Not to mention, about ten years ago a freshman girl disappeared during winter semester. Her body was discovered during some campus construction, completely hollow; no internal organs and no incisions. Coroner said it was as if her insides were completely sucked out."

"Jeeze." Asa grimaced, "Alright, well, you find anything while you were partying with the Kappas?"

"They definitely have something in their basement they don't want anyone to see. They lock it up whenever they aren't in there. Oh. She motioned to a picture of Dean Peretti shaking hands with someone, "The dean is a Kappa, or was when she was in school. Which is mighty suspicious if you ask me."

"She was?" Asa asked in surprise, "You're sure?"

"Positive. They have her picture up at the house."

A flashlight shining through the window of the door caught Asas attention, "Oh, shit. Patrol's early. Come on."

Quickly he grabbed Angel's hand and pulled her around to his side of the desk before ducking them both down just as the door opened. The two of them huddled closely together, extremely aware of the others' presence. Angel snuck a look at him before turning to see the head of campus security, Wayne, walk through the door. He shined his flashlight around the room before walking over to a scarf hanging on the dean's coat rack and breathed it in deeply.

Angel grimaced, "Gross."

Asa quickly grabbed her away from the edge of the desk, putting a hand over her mouth just as Wayne shined his light in their direction. He looked around one last time before turning around and leaving, shutting the door behind him.

"Well…" Angel pushed Asa off of her before getting up, "This was pointless. Unless you count catching the President of the Skeeves in full creep mode."

"Maybe not." Asa got up and showed her a white envelope, "Taped under the desk. Almost missed it." When he took the paper out it revealed a sequence of numbers and letters in a list format, he shook his head in confusion, "What is it, some kind of code?"

"No…" She shook her head as she took out her school ID to compare, "Those are student numbers. Every student gets one printed on their ID."

Asas eyebrows rose, "Can you use those numbers to get their names?"

"Probably. I can look into it through the school website or something. I'll figure it out." She looked up at him, "Why tape this under her desk?"

"I have no idea, but if it's worth hiding, it's definitely worth finding out." He put a hand on her lower back as he led her out, "Come on. Let's go."
