As Dorothy is still in the water closet, the men look through her satchel, as William opens her journal, and reads some pages.
"She's Catholic" Brackenreid said as he pulled out a Bible
"Yes, I found that out, when we found Phil's body" he says as he reads a page, "this is odd"
"What is?" Brackenreid asked
"In her journal, it's old like 10-20 years, but the writing" and shows Brackenreid and George, "it's my writing."
"Also, she's writing information about the case, but also look" as he grabs a light, "these pages that have invisible writing, but can't make them out"
"I noticed it, every time we get a clue, she looks and writes in her journal." George said
"I noticed that, too George"
"Do you think she's involved with these murders, and maybe writing something for a novel or a newspaper article?" Brackenreid asks
"It seems like it, sir, but why kill her friend? Plus, I don't know what it is…" as he rubs his forehead, "I feel like I know her, like we're connected somehow. Plus, I trust her."
"Same here" Brackenreid said as he flipped through the Bible when something fell out and fell to the floor, "blood hell, what is that?"
William bends forward, and picks it up, "a gold necklace with a cross on it. I recognize this…but I can't remember from where"
As the men, still went through her things, she came back, and saw Watts at his desk reading a book, "In Vivid Gardens, Songs of the Woman's Spirit, by Marguerite Wilkinson."
He looks up, "you read it, Miss…"
"Just call me, Dorothy."
"Oh, you're the lady helping Detective Murdoch with a case"
"Yes, I am, and to answer your question, yes I read it"
"What did you think of it?"
"It was ok, one poem I liked in it called Treasures."
"Yes, I love Treasures too, reminds me of my…friendship with a person I courted"
"But the rest of the poems, I thought they were too lost in translation"
He leans back in his chair, "I couldn't agree more. I thought the more I read the book, I would like it, but no not working for me." As he places the book on his desk, "is there anything other books or poems you enjoy?"
"Many books, but as for poems, I always loved the work of Shelley"
"Shelley, interesting" he said as he scratched his chin
As William, Brackenreid and George came out of Murdoch's office, they see Dorothy, say the poem, "especially his work, from Song of Solomon's, Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is better than wine"
"It is quite beautiful one" Watts said
"It reminds me of my parents" she responds when George approaches her, "Miss Gurden, I'm too escort you to the interrogation room"
"Nice to meet and talk to you, uh…"
"Watts, Detective Watts, it has been a pleasure"
She smiled back as George escorts her to the room and asks to sit down, "the detective will be here shortly"
She sits, down on the chair, waiting for the detective, when he enters into the room with her satchel, "ah, detective, you finally took a chance to look in my satchel. Took you long enough."
He opens the satchel and shows her the journal, "I have read the journal, you have been playing, station and I from the start. You either committed the murder or you arranged them."
She smiled and shook her head and let out a giggle.
"Something, funny, Miss Gurden?"
"I still can't believe you haven't figured it out of who I am. I have been giving you clues all day."
He clears his throat, "I don't know what you mean"
"Come on, Detective, I know you, Inspector, Constable Crabtree, and Dr. Ogden, trust and believe you know me"
"Then tell me, who you truly are and why you keep writing in your journal?"
"Come on…just go over the clues. First my name, it's an anagram. My background of being Scottish. I grew up Catholic, and I knew you saw me say the Song of Solomon's poem. Just think, detective"
He goes into a vision, and sees meeting Dorothy, Gurden anagram… Gale, Murdoch, Ogden. Murdoch, Scottish name. Then he sees her doing the sign of the cross and necklace. Then finally sees her saying the Song of Solomon's poem, "no, it can't be?" He says to himself and comes back from the vision, "no, it's impossible?"
She smiles, and nods.
"Susannah?"
"Hi daddy"
